The CH* chemiluminescence of premixed flames and their dependency on fuel types has been experimentally investigated on laminar methane and propane premixed flames. The measured chemiluminescence intensities are observed linearly proportional to the fuel flow rate, which could be interpreted as the CH* chemiluminescence signal is linearly proportional to the heat release rate under fuel lean conditions. The effect of equivalence ratio could be expressed by an exponential function as ${I_{CH*}}^{\propto}\;a_1\;{\exp}(b_1{\Phi})$, where $a_1\;=\;0.00054$ and $b_1\;=\;4.60$ for methane and $a_1\;=\;0.0056$ and $b_1\;=\;5.02$ for propane. Oscillating flames showed the temporal fluctuation of chemiluminescence intensity: however, the time averaged values are virtually identical to those of quiescent flames under the same fuel flow rate and equivalence ratio conditions. This observation suggests that there is no significant flame stretch effect on chemiluminescence intensity, in average values.

An experimental study was performed to investigate the characteristics of chemiluminescence in a radiant burner, varying the excess air ratio from 0.91 to 1.67 at firing rate 80.5 to 134.2 kW/m2 on $OH^*,\;CH^*,\;{C_2}^*$ in LNG-Air premixed flames. The signals from electronically excited states of $OH^*,\;CH^*,\;{C_2}^*$ were detected using a Intensified Couple Charged Detector (ICCD) camera. The measurements of exhausted emission were made to investigate the correlation between chemiluminescence and emissions. The chemiluminescence intensity was increased with increase of firing rate like characteristics of $NO_x$ emission. $NO_x$ also increased with increase of firing rate and excess air ratio. It is found that offset of firing rate is more dominant excess air ratio $NO_x$ emission. The maximum chemiluminescence intensity occurs near the stoichiometric excess air ratio or lean conditions in case of high firing rate and the maximum intensity occurs rather than rich conditions in case of relatively low firing rate. Amount of $NO_x$ emission is maximum at near stoichiometric excess air ratio, which is chemiluminescence intensity is maximum.

A method to determine As(V) ions in aqueous solution by chemiluminescence method has been studied using a stopped flow system. The method is based on the increased chemiluminescence intensity with the addition of As(V) ion to a solution of lucigenin and hydrogen peroxide. The effects of KOH concentration, $H_2O_2$ concentration and flow rate of reagents on the chemiluminescence intensity have been investigated. The calibration curve for As(V) was linear over the range from $1.0{\times}l0^{-6}$M to $1.0{\times}l0^{-4}$M, the coefficient of correlation was 0.997 and the detection limit was $3.3{\times}l0^{-7}$M under the optimal experimental conditions.
This paper presents results of experimental study of flame chemiluminescence from turbulent premixed flames in a dump combustor. A detailed spectroscopic measurement of chemiluminescence over the wavelength of 405-495 nm is made for various flow conditions. No effect of turbulence on the relationship between chemiluminescence and heat release is found, suggesting the overall chemiluminescence intensity collected be used as a measure of overall heat release for non-oscillating stable flame. The background-$CO_2^*$ subtracted $CH^*$ chemiluminescence is found to be more sensitive to the equivalence ratio and premixedness of fuel-air mixture than $CO_2^*$ chemiluminescence.
Our nation's water resources remain susceptible to contamination by phenolic agrichemicals. These compounds can be toxic to a variety of organisms including humans. Their disposal is restricted in many countries with strict limits for acceptable concentrations in drinking water. Enzyme-mediated in situ stabilization has been advocated as an approach for the treatment of phenolic compounds in soils and groundwater. This study reports the development of a new approach to quantify the activity of the HRP enzyme in aqueous systems. The method is based on the coupled processes of energy transfer and enhanced chemiluminescence using a luminol-$H_2O_2$-HRP system. In this study, the effects of solution pH, ionic strength and aqueous concentrations of HRP, $H_2O_2$ and enhancer were evaluated on the p-iodophenol-enhanced, HRP-catalyzed chemiluminescence reaction intensity in Tris-HCl buffer. All assay components were found to affect the maximum chemiluminescene intensity. The calibration curve for HRP showed the linear relationship with maximum light intensity.

A chemiluminescent method with gold nanoparticles for determination of vitamin C has been presented. Gold nanoparticles highly increased chemiluminescence intensity of lumimol-H2O2 system by its catalytic effect. The gold nanoparticles enhanced chemiluminescent method is applicable for the determination of an antioxidant such as vitamin C. When vitamin C was introduced to the lumimol system with gold nanoparticles, chemiluminescence intensity was reduced with the concentration of the added vitamin C. Low concentrated vitamin C solutions in the range of 1×10-3-1×10-9 M were produced reduced chemiluminescence intensity of lumimol-H2O2 with gold nanoparticles system.

A method to determine chromium(III) ion in aqueous solution by chemiluminescence method using a lucigenin entrapped silica sol-gel film has been studied. An optical probe for chromium(III) ion has been prepared by entrapping lucigenin into silica sol-gel film coated on a glass support by dip coating. The chromium(III) optical sensor is based on the catalytic effect of chromium(IIII) ion on the reaction between lucigenin and hydrogen peroxide in basic solutions. The effects of Nafion, DMF and Triton X-100 were investigated to find the optimum condition to minimize cracking and leaching from the probe. The effects of pH and concentrations of lucigenin and hydrogen peroxide on the chemiluminescence intensity were investigated. The chemiluminescence intensity was increased linearly with increasing chromium(III) concentration from $2.5{\times}10^{-4}$M to $8.0{\times}10^{-7}$M and the detection limit was $4.0{\times}10^{-7}$M.
Novel naphthyl-containing biphenyl analogues were prepared by Suzki reaction for the chemiluminescent blue fluorophores. UV-Vis absorption, photoluminescence, chemiluminescence and CIE chromaticities were measured. The fluorophores displayed blue photoluminescence in solution with a maximum intensity around 378-415 nm. Sodium salicylate-catalyzed reaction of them with bis(2 carbopentyloxy-3,5,6-trichlorophenyl)-oxalate with hydrogen peroxide provided a strong chemiluminescent red light emission with wavelengths of 398-427 nm; these were similar to the photoluminescent spectra. The chemiluminescent intensity decayed exponentially and the glow of chemiluminescence, which was visible with naked eyes, was maintained for more than 4 h.

The influence of combustor pressure on the local reaction characteristics of $CH_4$/air flames was investigated by measurements of local chemiluminescence intensity. Induced flow flames are often applied to the industrial boiler systems and incinerator in order to improve heat transfer and prevent exhaust gas leakage. In order to investigate combustion characteristics in the induced flow pattern, the combustor pressure index($P^*$) was controlled in the range of $0.7{\sim}1.3$ for each equivalence ratio in the present combustion system, where $P^*$ is defined as the ratio of absolute pressure to atmospheric one. Relationship between local reaction intensity and pressure index have been investigated by simultaneous $CH^*$, $C^*_2$ and $OH^*$ intensity measurements. It could be observed that flame length became longer with decreasing $P^*$ from $CH^*$ chemiluminescence intensity of axial direction. The mean value of $C^*_2$ and $CH^*$ chemiluminescence intensities, which indicates reaction intensity in the $CH_4$/air flames, decreased with decreasing pressure index for ${\Phi}{\leq}1$, but increased with decreasing pressure index for ${\Phi}$>1. $C^*_2/CH^*$ intensity ratio, which can be a good marker to demonstrate local equivalence ratio, was almost same for ${\Phi}{\leq}1$ regardless of pressure index change, while they showed high level for lower pressure index for ${\Phi}$>1 conditions.
