LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel cutting problem is a sort of two dimensional cutting stock problem. A cutting stock problem is problem that it minimizes the loss of the stock when a stock is cut into various parts. In the most research of the two dimensional cutting stock problem, it is supposed that the relative angle of a stock and parts is not important. Usually the angle is regarded as horizontal or perpendicular. In the manufacturing of polarizing film of LCD, the relative angle should be maintained at some specific angle because of the physical and/or chemical characteristics of raw material. We propose a mathematical model for solving this problem, a two-dimensional non-Guillotine cutting stock problem that is restricted by an arranged angle. Some example problems are solved by the C++ program using ILOG CPLEX classes. We could get the verification and validation of the suggested model based on the solutions.
In recent years, environments of our globe has been getting worse as a result of rapid growth of socioeconomic activities. The global environmental issues of acid rain, green house effect and ozone depletion are caused by various chemical pollutants, emitted from industries, automobiles and home. Most of these pollutants are produced by combustion processes. CO2 as a chief criminal of the greenhouse effect is a main combustion product of fossil fuels. Development of solid-state electrochemical devices for detecting CO2 is demonstrated based on various combination of solid electrolytes and auxiliary sensing materials. The object of this research is to develop various sensor performance for solid electrolyte gas sensor, and to test gas sensor performance manufactured. So we try to present a guidance for developing potential type gas sensor. We concentrated on development of manufacturing process and performance test.
The Gustatory system enables animals to detect toxic bitter chemicals, which is critical for insects to survive food induced toxicity. Cucurbitacin is widely present in plants such as cucumber and gourds that acts as an anti-herbivore chemical and an insecticide. Cucurbitacin has a harmful effect on insect larvae as well. Although various beneficial effects of cucurbitacin such as alleviating hyperglycemia have also been documented, it is not clear what kinds of molecular sensors are required to detect cucurbitacin in nature. Cucurbitacin B, a major bitter component of bitter melon, was applied to induce action potentials from sensilla of a mouth part of the fly, labellum. Here we identify that only Gr33a is required for activating bitter-sensing gustatory receptor neurons by cucurbitacin B among available 26 Grs, 23 Irs, 11 Trp mutants, and 26 Gr-RNAi lines. We further investigated the difference between control and Gr33a mutant by analyzing binary food choice assay. We also measured toxic effect of Cucurbitacin B over 0.01 mM range. Our findings uncover the molecular sensor of cucurbitacin B in Drosophila melanogaster. We propose that the discarded shell of Cucurbitaceae can be developed to make a new insecticide.
Ambient drying sol-gel processing was used for monolithic silica ambigels in the temperature range of $130-250^{\circ}C$. A new method of mesopore ambigels, which mean the aerogels prepared by ambient pressure drying process synthesis, is suggested at first. This method includes two important approaches. The first point is that $SiO_{2}$ surface modification of wet gel was performed by trimethylchlorosilane in n-butanol solution. This procedure is provided the silica gel mesopore structure formation. The second point is a creation of the ternary azeotropic mixture water/n-butanol/octane as porous liquid, which is effectively provided removing of water such a low temperature by 2 step drying condition under ambient pressure. The silica aerogels, which were prepared by ambient pressure drying from azeotropic mixture of water/n-butanol/octane, are transparent, crack-free and mesoporous (pore size ${\sim}$ 5.6 nm) with surface area of ${\sim}$$923{\;}m^2/g$, bulk density of $0.4{\;}g/cm^3$ and porosity of 85 %.
Nano-structured polyaniline have been synthesized by interfacial polymerization method at room temperature. An aqueous solution of aniline in chloroform and another solution of ammonium peroxydisulfate in doping acid were prepared at different times terminated with methanol at room temperature. SEM, UV-vis were used to characterize the polyaniline with regard to their morphology and structure. The diameter and length of polyaniline can be controlled by the reaction time. Nano-structured polyaniline were found to have superior sensitivity for volatile organic compounds(VOCs). As the reaction time to increase from 30minute to 2hours the sensitivity were decreased to VOCs vapors. The sensitivity of Nano-structured polyaniline sensor appeared to VOCs better than the sensitivity of chemical synthesis sensors. The sensitivity of Nano-structured polyaniline sensor improved benzene vapors.
There have been a lot of studies in the past for the method of predicting the failure of a machine, and recently, a lot of researches and applications have been generated to diagnose the physical condition of the machine and the parts and to calculate the remaining life through various methods. Survival models are also used to predict plant failures based on past anomaly cycles. In particular, special machine that reflect the fluid flow and process characteristics of chemical plants are connected to hundreds or thousands of sensors, so there are not many factors that need to be considered, such as process and material data as well as application of derivative variables. In this paper, the data were preprocessed through time series anomaly detection based on unsupervised learning to predict the abnormalities of these special machine. Next, clustering results reflecting clustering-based data characteristics were applied to produce additional variables, and a learning data set was created based on the history of past facility abnormalities. Finally, the prediction methodology based on the supervised learning algorithm was applied, and the model update was confirmed to improve the accuracy of the prediction of facility failure. Through this, it is expected to improve the efficiency of facility operation by flexibly replacing the maintenance time and parts supply and demand by predicting abnormalities of machine and extracting key factors.

In this study, n-type $Bi_2Te_3$ in thermoelectric scrap is recovered through a wet reduction process. The recovered powder (tellurium) is grafted onto gas sensor in a new application that is not a thermoelectric device. Bismuth-rich powder is prepared by adding hydrazine when pH of the solution is brought to 13 using NaOH. The pH of the filtered solution was reduced using $HNO_3$, and then hydrazine was added to perform the re-reduction reaction. The tellurium-rich powder can be obtained through this reaction. The elemental analysis for these powders is confirmed by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis ; the successful separation of bismuth and tellurium is confirmed. Separated tellurium powder is mixed with DMF solvent and ethyl cellulose binder to confirm gas sensing properties. The tellurium paste was exposed in $NO_x$ atmosphere and exhibited a rapid reaction rate and recovery rate of less than 3 minutes for the gas.
Graphene has attracted a lot of attentions due to the unique electrical and optical properties. Compared with the noble metal plasmons in the visible and near-infrared frequencies, graphene can support surface plasmons in the lower frequencies of terahertz and mid-infrared and it demonstrates an extremely large confinement at the surface because of the particular electronic band structures. Especially, the surface conductivity of graphene can be tuned by either chemical doping or electrostatic gating. These features make graphene a promising candidate for plasmonics, biosensing and transformation optics. Furthermore, the combination of graphene and metasurfaces presents a powerful tunability for exotic electromagnetic properties, where the metasurfaces with the highly-localized fields offer a platform to enhance the interaction between the incident light and graphene and facilitate a deep modulation. In this paper, we provide an overview of the key properties of graphene, such as the surface conductivity, the propagating surface plasmon polaritons, and the localized surface plasmons, and the hybrid graphene/metasurfaces, either metallic and dielectric metasurfaces, from terahertz to near-infrared frequencies. Finally, there is a discussion for the current challenges and future goals.
Korea ocean research stations manage the weather and environmental data collected from coastal and ocean areas to provide short-term and long-term ocean forecasts. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and quantify economic benefits of the ocean research stations with sensors to observe physical, chemical, and biological data. The construction and operation of an integrated ocean observation station is expected to reduce uncertainty about ocean and coastal areas and to improve the quality of ocean forecasts. The economic benefits are mainly come from improved search and rescue operations, ocean pollution management, yellow dust management, and improved productivity in ocean-related industries. In addition, an input-output analysis is performed to evaluate the economic impacts of ocean research stations nationwide. The analysis shows that the system can contribute to industries such as fishing, maritime and air cargo, medical and health care.
