  • The Lagrangian dispserion of fluid particles in inhomogeneous turbulence is investigated by a direct numerical simulation of turbulent channel flow. Fluid particle velocity and acceleration along a particle trajectory are computed by employing several interpolation schemes such as linear interpolation, high-order Lagrange polynomial interpolation and the Hermite interpolation schemes. The performances of the schemes are evaluated through comparison of errors in computed particle positions, velocities and accelerations against spectral interpolation. Adopting the four-point Hermite interpolation in the homogeneous directions and Chebyshev polynomials in the wall-normal direction appears to produce most reliable Lagrangian statistics including acceleration correlations with a reasonable amount of computational overhead.

  • The scattering problem of a transverse electric (TE) plane wave by strip grating with a dielectric slab over a ground plane is analyzed by the method of moments. By use of equivalence principle, surface magnetic current density on the shorted slot is expanded in a series of Chebyshev polynomial a satisfying the appropriate edge condition. Numerical results for reflection coefficient are obtained and compared with other available results. Our numerical results obtained from the present method are in good agreement with other result available in the literature.

  • In FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filter applications, Nth-band FIR digital filters are known to be important due to their reduced computational requirements. The conventional methods for designing FIR filters use iterative approaches such as the well-known Parks-Mcclellan algorithm. the Parks-Mcclellan algorithm is also used to design Nth-band FIR digital filters. But a disadvantage of the Parks-McClellan algorithm Is that it needs a good amount of design time. This paper describes a direct design method for third-band FIR Filters using Chebyshev polynomial, which provide a reduction in design time over indirect methods such as the Parks-McClellan algorithm. The response of the resulting filter is equi-ripple in passband. The proposed method of design produces a passband response that is equi-ripple to within a minuscule error, compare to that of the Parks-McClellan algorithm.

  • This paper describes the optimization of the hexagonal array transducer using finite element method. The transducer consists of the disc type sensors. Three dimensional beam patterns of each element and the array transducer are analysed using the finite element code ATILA. Beam patterns were analyzed for the disc type transducer. To optimize beam patterns of the array transducer, Chebyshev polynomial weight is applied to each element. In case of applying optimized weight, a 30 degree width beam pattern is presented at 10kHz. This paper also includes the effect of rubber filling material instead of using the water inside the transducer array.

  • In this work we discuss "plank problems" for complex Banach spaces and in particular for the classical $L^{p}(\mu)$ spaces. In the case $1\;{\leq}\;p\;{\leq}\;2$ we obtain optimal results and for finite dimensional complex Banach spaces, in a special case, we have improved an early result by K. Ball [3]. By using these results, in some cases we are able to find best possible lower bounds for the norms of homogeneous polynomials which are products of linear forms. In particular, we give an estimate in the case of a real Hilbert space which seems to be a difficult problem. We have also obtained some results on the so-called n-th (linear) polarization constant of a Banach space which is an isometric property of the space. Finally, known polynomial inequalities have been derived as simple consequences of various results related to plank problems.

개선된 특성을 갖는 진폭 등화기의 설계와 응용 (Design of Amplitude Equalizers with Improved Characteristics and Their Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 고차 대역 통과 여파기의 평탄도를 개선하기 위해 증폭기, 오목한 상보형 여파기, 감쇠기로 구성된 진폭 등화기를 설계하였다. 상보형 여파기는 2n차 체비셰프 원형의 극점 위치를 조절하여 체비셰프 다항식을 수정하고 회로망 합성법을 통하여 원형 소자 값을 계산하였다. 대역 통과 여파기에서 발생하는 손실을 보상하고 반사 특성을 개선할 수 있는 증폭기와 진폭 등화기의 이득 크기를 조절하기 위한 감쇠기를 계산된 원형 소자 값을 사용하여 설계한 4차 상보형 여파기에 연결하여 진폭 등화기를 구현하였다. 제안한 진폭 등화기를 사용하여 2.3 GHz 휴대 인터넷 대역(WiBro)의 13차 대역 통과 여파기의 평탄도 특성을 6 dB 개선하였다.

비선형 왜곡법을 이용한 악기음의 합성 (Musical Tone Synthesis using Nonlinear Distortion Method)

  • 본 논문에서는 비선헝 왜곡법을 사용하여 악기음을 합성하였다. 비선형 왜곡법은 기본적으로 하나의 정현파 발생기와 이에 의해 발생된 정현파에 인위적인 왜곡을 일으키는 증폭기로 구성된다. 출력파는 비선형 증폭기의 전달함수, 즉 파형 형성 항수를 변화시킴으로써 제어되는 배음을 갖는다. 파형 형성 함수는 녹음된 악기음을 분석하여 얻어진 각 부분음 크기를 바탕으로 체비세프 다항식을 이용하여 얻어진다. 합성 시스템은 IBM-PC에서 수행되는 프로그램이며, 합성 결과는 파형과 스펙트럼 분석기에 의한 스펙트럼으로 보였다. 또한 합성 결과의 검증을 위해 전문가를 대상으로 시청 테스트를 수행하여, 합성음의 만족도를 평가하였다.

Enhanced Mutual Authentication Scheme based on Chaotic Map for PCM in NFC Service Environment

  • Currently, automated payment services provide intuitive user interfaces by adapting various wireless communication devices with mobile services. For example, companies like Samsung, Google, and Apple have selected the NFC payment method to service payments of existing credit cards. An electronic payment standard has been released for NFC activation within Korea and will strengthen the safety of payment service communications. However, there are various security risks regarding the NFC-based electronic payment method. In particular, the NFC payment service using the recently released lightweight devices cannot provide the cryptographic strength that is supported by many financial transaction services. This is largely due to its computational complexity and large storage resource requirements. The chaotic map introduced in this study can generate a highly complicated code as it is sensitive to the initial conditions. As the lightweight study using the chaotic map has been actively carried out in recent years, associated authentication techniques of the lightweight environment have been released. If applied with a chaotic map, a high level of cryptographic strength can be achieved that can provide more functions than simple XOR operations or HASH functions. Further, this technique can be used by financial transaction services. This study proposes a mutual authentication technique for NFC-PCM to support an NFC payment service environment based on the chaotic map.

  • 2-dimensional scattering problem of electromagnetic waves by a periodic strip grating on a grounded dielectric slab in case of oblique incidence and arbitrary polarization is analyed by the vector Floquet modal expansion method. Solution convergence versus number of Chebyshev polynomial terms representing the unknown strip current density and number of space harmonics is examined, and some numerical results such as variation of power of significant space harmonics(scattered mode) are compared with those obtained by previous method. In particaluar, the relationship between Bragg blazing phonmena and characteristics mode(current) on the srip is discussed in detail.

Study on dynamic behavior analysis of towed line array sensor

  • A set of equations of motion is derived for vibratory motions of an underwater cable connected to a moving vehicle at one end and with drogues at the other end. From the static analysis, cable configurations are obtained for different vehicle speeds and towing pretensions are determined by fluid resistance of drogues. Also the dynamic analysis is required to predict its vibratory motion. Nonlinear fluid drag forces greatly influence the dynamic tension. In this study, a numerical analysis program was developed to find out the characteristic of cable behaviour. The motion is described in terms of space and time coordinates based on Chebyshev polynomial expansions. For the spatial integration the collocation method is employed and the Newmark method is applied for the time integration. Dynamic tensions, displacements, velocities, accelerations were predicted in the time domain while natural frequencies and transfer functions were obtained in the frequency domain.
