  • In this paper, performance characteristics of a domestic kim-chi refrigerator are predicted by using the theoretical calculation and experimental method. The objective of this study is to find out the best design points of the refrigeration system and to calculate an adiabatic characteristic with variation to outdoor temperatures. The best design points such as refrigerant charge amount and capillary length were experimentally investigated. And the theoretical calculation is conducted as a function of calculation parameters and outdoor temperatures. According to this study results, the best design points of a refrigeration system with 2 rooms are 95 g of a refrigerant charge amount and 3500 / 3500 mm of capillary lengths and the best design points of a refrigeration system with 3 rooms are 100 g of a refrigerant charge amount and 3000/3000/6000mm of capillary lengths. And the power consumptions of both systems are 13.57 and 18.2 kWh/month. The worst part of heat loss is a front side of a domestic kim-chi refrigerator body.

  • This is an experimental study on the performance characteristics of effective heat pump in the cooling mode using a single-stage compression $CO_2$ cycle with an IHX(internal heat exchanger). The performance of a single-stage compression with IHX was investigated according to charge amount and operating condition. Moreover, the performance characteristic of cooling operating was analyzed with the length of IHX. As a result, the optimum refrigerant charge amount was 2.2 kg. The optimal system COP for compressor frequency of 30, 40, 50, and 60 Hz was 3.493, 3.228, 2.978, and 2.659, respectively. Since the system with IHX can maintain large cooling capacity regardless of operating condition, the system performance doesn't reduce considerably under unfavorable condition. When the compressor frequency was 40 Hz, the COP for a system with IHX length of 3 m and 5 m was 3.361 and 3.51, respectively. By using the IHX into a $CO_2$ cooling system, the performance and reliability improves simultaneously.

  • Because of improvement of living standards and increased use of ice at home, built-in ice makers are of interest. In this study, refrigeration cycle of a unitary ice maker for residential usage was optimized using R-404A. Optimization was achieved through a search for proper refrigerant charge amount. For the present ice maker producing ice for 24 cups, the optimum charge amount was 200 g. In this configuration, the ice making cycle time was 17 minutes 53 seconds, ice production was 1.27 kg/h and COP was 0.310. After initial start-up, condensation and evaporation temperatures gradually decreased with time. As ice builds in the cup, heat transfer performance of the evaporator decreases, that results in decrease of evaporation and condensation temperatures. Replacement of existing slit nozzles with individual circular hole nozzles improved ice production capacity by 10 percent. Through visualization of ice formation in the ice cup, growth rate of the ice in the cup was relatively uniform.

  • Purpose : This study aims to figure out problems in Korea's physical therapy, how to improve it, and the need for it by examining the nation's physical therapy charges. Methods : This study was performed based on materials from the National Health Insurance Corporation, Korean academic theses, and domestic medical charge system. Results : The number of patients with physical therapy stood at around 17,764,428 in 2008, and then has gradually rose to 3 out of 100,000 citizens. The National Health Insurance Charge System based on relative values, which has been applied since 2001, is not desirable in that it is increasing patients' financial burden. Also, in deciding the amount of work carried out by physical therapists, their amount of input time, efforts, labor, and stress from their patients were not considered and the false relative value system has made patients pay more. Conclusion : Korean medical insurance charges and the overall system should be improved, so that physical therapists can perform specialized services of global physical therapy and service receiving patients do not incur losses.

  • The ageing of XLPE cable insulation will lead to the accelerating accumulation of space charge, which will greatly affect the safe operation of the HVDC cable. In order to investigate the influence of different ageing modes on the space charge distribution of the HVDC cable, thermal stressed, electrical stressed and electro-thermal stressed endurance tests were carried out on the XLPE peelings. The tested XLPE peelings were obtained from 160kV HVDC cable insulation. The endurance tests were carried at thermal stress of 363K, electrical stress of 20kV/mm DC and a combination of both. The Pulsed Electro-Acoustic (PEA) method was used to measure the space charge distribution of the samples. The influences of ageing on the trap energy distribution were analyzed based on the isothermal relaxation theory and the decay characteristics of the space charge. The results showed that thermal ageing would help to improve the crystalline morphologies of the XLPE at the early stage. The total amount of space charge decreased compared to the ones before thermal ageing. The long term of electrical stress would result in the cleavage of polymer molecule chains which would intensify the accumulation of space charge and increase the density and depth of electron traps. With a combination of electrical and thermal stress, the injection and migration of space charge were more significant. Besides, the depth and density of electron traps increased rapidly with the increase of endurance time.

  • In the case of immobilizing of glucose oxidase in organic polymer using electrosynthesis, the glucose oxidase obstructs charge transfer and mass transport during the film growth. This may lead to short chained polymer and/or make charge-coupling weak between the glucose oxidase and the backbone of the polymer. That is mainly due to insulating property and net chain of the glucose oxidase. Since being the case, it is useless to increase in amount of glucose oxidase more than reasonable in the synthetic solution. We establish qualitatively that amount of immobilization can be improved by adding a little ethanol in the synthetic solution. As ethanol was added by 0.1 rnol dm" in the synthetic solution, Michaelis-Menten constants of the resulting enzyme electrode decreased from 30.7 mmol $dm^{-3}$ to about 2 mmol $dm^{-3}$. That suggests increase in affinity of the enzyme electrode for glucose and in amount of the immobilized enzyme.zyme.

  • Controlled tunnel blasting by deck charge was suggested and simulated by PFC and FEM analyses. Analyzed results showed that suggested method is efficient in fragmentation and able to decrease in vibration level because of decreased amount of charge per delay and dispersion of deck charge. This phenomena was explained by failure mechanism and proved that it can be successfully applied to tunnel blasting.

  • Studied that the relationship between the charge density of PAC and its alkalinity, as well as the influences of PAC in paper sizing. Study results showed that PAC with higher charge density brought higher sizing degree when the same amount of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ content was dosed. However, there was no direct relationship between PAC charge density and its alkalinity, and higher PAC alkalinity can't improve its charge density. It was also found that the admixture (PPAC) of polyamine and PAC had higher charge density than PAC. The effects of PPAC on DRS and RAKD sizing were better than PAC sizing, when dosage and other sizing condition were the same.

  • Flocculation-spectrophotometry and streaming current detector( SCD ) method were investigated and compared in order to determine the optimum dosages of synthetic cationic polymers of different charge density and molecular mass for the removal of humic acid. The optimum dosage for each of the polymers was determined with the dosage at which the lowest absorbance of humic acid was shown for the formal. and was determined with the dosage required during charge neutralization of humic acid for the latter It was in good agreement between both methods and there is a strong inverse correlation between the optimum dosage and charge density of the polymers, with highly charged polymer giving the lowest optimum dosage, pointing out the importance the charge neutralization. By flocculation-spectrophotometry, it was found that the absorbance of humid acid with the amount of each of the polymers dosed, changes sharply for polymers of high charge density, but changes rather broadly for polymers of low and middle charge density, Both methods showed that a stoichiometric correlation exists between the optimum dosage of each of the cationic polymers and the negatively charged humic acid.

  • As soon as a new air filter is applied to an air purification process, the filter gets loaded with dust particles. Thus, the study on the particle loading characteristics of air filter is very essential in order to understand the real filtration phenomena during filter use. In this study, we investigated the effect of particle and filter charge on the particle loading property of air filter. Charged filter and uncharged filter prepared by discharging the charged filter by isopropyl alcohol were used as test samples, and three types of particle having different charge states were supplied to filters tested. For neutralized particles there was a big difference in areal mass loading rates between charged and uncharged filters due to the very small amount of particle charge, on the other hand the difference was diminished for atomized particle and finally almost vanished for corona charged particles. The pressure drop of filter loaded with corona charged particles was only half of those for neutralized and atomized particles at the same areal mass loading because of the porous structure of particle deposit formed on filter fibers, caused by the space charge effect between particles.
