A study on behavioral patterns and satisfaction of visitors depending on the characteristic of exhibition in science museum (과학관 전시체험관에 대한 관람자 행동유형 및 만족도에 대한 연구)

  • This study has been analyzed various exhibition in Ulsan Museum of Science which was opened in March 2011 and found out the connections between elementary school science and its curriculum. In addition, this study has pointed out how visitors' behavioral patterns change depending on the characteristics of exhibition. The Study has also examined the visitors' satisfaction on the educational effectiveness, facilities and environment of the museum and aimed to seek ways to revitalize and improve the general conditions of exhibition rooms which is essential for Ulsan Museum of Science. The results of analysis on the form exhibition showed that 31.7% were in a passive form and the other 68.2% were in active form which was 43 out of 63 exhibition. After analyzing the visitors behavioral patterns, the majority of exhibition with higher attraction power and holding power were active-type exhibition and especially the experience-type exhibition takes the large portion. Based on the survey, we found out that both students and teachers represent high expectations of pleasure through active experience. They showed high satisfaction rates on the number of exhibition, guide facilities, inside temperature and accessibility of Ulsan Museum of Science.

A Study on Users' Perception of the Healing Power of Forest Environments: Focused on the Visitors of Bunseong Mountain

  • This study surveyed the general characteristics and forest use characteristics of forest visitors, the healing power of natural environments and Perceived Restorativeness Scale (PRS) to find out whether humans can feel the healing effects of natural environments. The target area of this study was the natural environments of Bunseong Mountain in Gimhae, Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea. A total of 50 questionnaires were analyzed. Female visitors and those aged between 40s to 60s accounted for 62% and over 70% respectively. All the surveyed respondents answered 'yes' to the question about the healing effects of Bunseong Mountain and natural environments, and 84% of them answered that they can get 'psychological and physical healing' in Bunseong Mountain. Many respondents chose oxygen, sunlight, and landscape as a healing factor. To the questions about the specific form or conditions of the natural environments that have the healing effects, those who answered 'forest' was the highest (72%), and they described thickness of forests, gentle slope and clean air as their conditions. The average score of the Perceived Restorativeness Scale (PRS) using a 7-point Likert scale was 5.14. The results of this study indicate that respondents perceive Bunseong Mountain as a restorative environment and think that they can enjoy the healing effects of Bunseong Mountain and natural environments.

  • Based on the survey of East Lake Park, South Lake Park and Tian Waicun in Tai'an by questionnaire survey, on-the-spot investigation and in-depth interview, the paper analyzes the tendencies of visitors to the animal elements and animal landscape in landscape architecture from three terms: primary attributes, the cognition of animal elements and animal elements landscape preferences. We have drawn several conclusions: the landscapes of animal elements are in urgent demand by the public ; The animal elements having lovely image, auspicious meaning and local characteristics are the most popular application types of animal elements landscapes ; The most favorite types of animals and animal elements are: doves, cranes monkeys, pandas, butterflies, dragonflies, fold fish, dolphins, dragons and cartoon animals ; The popular landscaping techniques of animal elements are the methods of combining with plants, buildings and garden ornaments.

  • The pre-examination closely beforehand relation between the articles on exhibition and visitors, the visitors and exhibition space, the exhibition space and the articles on exhibition, and the acceptance of various requirements are the matters you should consider in the initial stage when planning the establishment of a museum. Especially, the clear guideline for the layout of exhibition to meet the intention of spectators considered based on the seeing behavior in the exhibition hall (i.e. they see the articles on exhibition in order passively under instructions of the museum or select them by themselves positively etc.), and the moving line of appreciation and the exhibition type seems to be not yet prepared sufficiently. This study can be defined as the study of fundamental background for the architectural guideline for the characteristics of visitor's behavior, the selected moving line in the exhibition hall, the layout against the forced moving line and the type of exhibition space. As a part of this study, we carried out the research and the study for how the movement of visitors and the characteristics of seeing behaviors according to the type of the moving line are shown, based on the type of moving line for seeing suggested by David Dean.

Effect of Children' Characteristics on Visitors' Overall Satisfaction in Science Museum (과학관에서 아동의 개인특성이 관람만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • With the exhibition materials and exhibition spaces are provided, it is the reaction of the visitors that completes the function of science museum. To satisfy the visitors, it is necessary to understand their needs, interests, and motives, apart from the physical environment of the museum. The purpose of this research is to verify the effect of children's personal characteristics on the satisfaction in science museum. In doing so, an interview survey was conducted: 210 primary and middle school students who had finished the exhibition tour were randomly selected and interviewed. The data was analysed by a T-test and an one-way ANOVA to find out the correlation. The results of analysis are as follows: First, a meaningful statistical differences are found by the age groups in terms of motivation, expectation, satisfaction, enjoyment, and total staying time at the museum. The lower the grade, students are satisfied with their everyday living; and this is reflected on their intrinsic motivations and higher expectations on visit. Also, their actual satisfaction and enjoyment are higher and they stay at the museum longer than the other group. Second, the group with intrinsic motivation and higher expectation is more satisfied with the contents of the exhibition than the group with extrinsic motivation. Third, the level of higher education of mothers, rather than that of fathers had mere effect on the learning of the children at the museum. Also, the children who are brought up by full-time house wives have bigger achievement of learning from the exhibition than those with working mothers.

  • This study aims to examine the Visitor's selection attributes and types of preference regarding Rural Theme Village, and gather useful information for establishing differentiated marketing strategies suitable for market segments by the Visitor's selection attributes. In addition, it will contribute to securing competitiveness in providing Visitors with better service by extracting differentiating factors of Rural Theme Villages, and exploring the right direction of Rural Tourism. For the empirical analysis, the attributes were extracted based on the preliminary studies, and a survey was conducted among Visitors and users of Rural Theme Village to examine such factors as importance of selection attributes status, motives of using such Rural Theme Villages, demographic characteristics, and general features of the Rural Theme Villages.

  • The study aims to examine preferences between community residents and visitors in designing a rural community garden. It analyzed diverse aspects of a garden design including garden's function, location, management subject, components and so on. The survey was conducted on residents or visitors participants with a self-administered survey questionnaire. The results revealed that both residents and visitors highly preferred a rural community garden as a role of relaxation, appreciation, and healing. Meanwhile, there were differences of preference for location and garden components between residents and visitors. The results implicated that residents' preference and characteristics of a community are essential in designing a rural community garden, which will lead to sustainable garden construction.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic visitor information through understanding visitors' attitudes to the attributes for recreational experiences. To accomplish the purpose of the study, a questionnaire survey was conducted on major entry points in Taean Coast National Park. As for the results, socioeconomic characteristics of the visitors' parks were similar to the findings of previous studies of national park visitors. The visitors' overall attitudes to significance levels of the 20 attributes which are related to the recreation experience were perceived as from normal to not serious, but a few dissatisfaction factors were indicated in park facility use. The satisfaction level was evaluated in the affirmative.

  • The study aims to find development plan of the Hanmadang festival in Jachaebanga village. First of all, Financing is the first major obstacle to opening a successful village festival. In order to host village festival. It's important that smooth financing. It needs head north and diversify of the Banga table. Through proceeding by subscription, research a value-added food the village benefits can be better. Because Jachaebanga village located in capital area. The people who live in Seoul and Gyonggi area easily approachable. So, If induce a free visitors to reservation visitors, It will benefit not only village, but also visitors. Hanmadang festival program and another village festival program are evenly alike. Festival organizers must provide a differentiated festival program to reservation visitors. It needs merge the harvest program and society curriculum to amplify the synergy. Like a Turtle play, participation inducement to neighboring traditional culture organization can be of help to consist festival program. There simply aren't enough people here to progress festival properly. In order to supply people to progress properly, Festival plan, Budgets allocations have to be determined by village officers.

  • This study tries to fine out how the museum visitors use the public·service space. and in the sense that their movement in the spaces may have close relationship with visibility, it uses Isovist in order to fine out the causes on how they move around the public·service space. The study suggests that there is strong relationship between the visitors movement in the public·service spaces and visibility from a certain point. As far as the public·service spaces are concerned, therefore, it is important to consider visibility from certain point such as the museum hall or the main entrance.
