  • One of the characteristics of contemporary interior design is the prominence of material and its challenge to the established concept of interior design. As material has risen to the new element of design, losing its old concept as something secondary surrounding space, it had become an useful instrument to create unique images as well as to express the paradigm of space that modern society demands. The active role of material has made itself one of the primary elements that make a difference in design. Particularly in commercial spaces where sales are important and attractive spaces are needed, material has been emergent conveying its appling to consumers. Therefore, this study analyses the materiality that material has and its characteristics represented as images in commercial spaces. With the analysis, it researches further into the unlimited possibility of material and show the way for modern interior design to head for.

  • Dual-energy X-ray imaging (DEI) techniques can provide X-ray images that a certain material is suppressed or emphasized by combining two X-ray images obtained from two different x-ray spectrum. In this paper, a single-shot DEI, which uses stacked two detectors (i.e., multilayer detector), is proposed to reduce the patient dose and increase throughput in angiography. The polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and aluminum (Al) were selected as two basis materials for material decomposition, and material-specific images are reconstructed as a vector combination of these two materials. We investigate the contrast and noise performance of material-decomposed images using iodine phantoms with various concentrations and diameters. The single-shot DEI shows comparable performances to the conventional dual-shot DEI. In particular, the single-shot DEI shows edge enhancement in material-decomposed images due to the different spatial-resolution characteristics of upper and lower detectors. This study could be useful for designing the multilayer detector including scintillators and energy-separation filter for angiography purposes.

  • Since the grating optical low-pass fillet degrades the resolution of images, we developed a hologram optical low-pass filter that show low degradation of the image and studied its characteristics. We designed the hologram that divides input beam into circular shaped 21 beams with a Monte-Carlo based hologram generation program and calculated its MTE characteristics to compare it with that of a grating filter. The hologram was manufactured through the optical lithography process and attached to a digital imaging device (Zoran 732212) for measurement. The moirfiltering is compared with zone plate images and the resolution loss is measured with USAF resolution chart. The hologram optical low-pass filter showed better characteristics in both moly filtering and resolution.

  • This article aims to research and analyze expressional characteristics of media art in Hussein Chalayan's fashion works. Media technology has made rapid progress over every society, in which it enables multi-dimensional communication. Under this social background, media art can use a multiplicity of technologies and go public. Media art had great influences in fashion with the leading designer as Hussein Chalayan. His works has been selected from the 90s up until 2008 focusing on expressional characteristics of media art by a professional group of fashion design. By classifying and analyzing of Hussein Chalayan's fashion works, expressional characteristics of media art displayed from works of the late 90s, and in recent years, the use of various technologies has increased. Expressional characteristics of media art in his works have been re-classified as interactivity, transfonnation, visualization, and transparency. First, interactivity by the wearer's action and emotional change is effective on emotional express, body protection and the causing of interest. Second, transfonnation by the wearer's action, functioning, and emotional change is influenced by convenience, body protection, and causing concern. Third, immateriality in media art is divided into visualization and transparency, and in fashion structural and material characteristics. Visualization by internal luminous source and digital images influences immersion and expression on fantasy images. Fourth, transparency by immaterial characteristics and piled up images affects openness and camouflage. • Wiener filtering method was applied to the dual energy imaging procedure in digital radiography(D.R.). A linear scanning photodiode arrays with 1024 elements(0.6mm H 1.3mm pixel size) were used to obtain chest images in 0.7 sec. For high energy image acquisition, X-ray tube was set at 140KVp, 100mA with a rare-earth phosphor screen. Low energy image was obtained with X-ray tube setting at 70KVp, 150mA. These measured dual energy images are represented in the vector matrix notation as a linear discrete model including the additive random noise. Then, the object images are restored in the minimum mean square error sense using Wiener filtering method in the transformed domain. These restored high and low energy images are used for computation of the basis image decomposition. Then the basis images are linearly combined to produce bone or tissue selective images. Using this process, we could improve the signal to noise ratio characteristics in the material selective images.

  • A portable terminal assistant market grows rapidly every year and it requires many change in research on display devices. Among many newly developing methods, OLED(Organic Light Emitting Diode) is considered an advanced flat display device because its excellent characteristics, including high speed response, full color performance, low power consumption and flux of panel. However changes in the market of display shows that the market will require 3-dimensional images, but it is hard for existing 2-dimensional displays to make 3-dimensional images. Therefore we will try to find various methods such as holograms. In this paper, we will show existing flat displays can make 3-dimensional images by applying Lenticular Screen printing techniques on the organic semiconductor display device.

  • This study examined recycled fashion design utilizing natural images for application to recent trends. This study is significant in that it presents the possibility of the development of recycled women's wear design by reflecting the characteristics and expressions of natural images and using denim material, which is the most common clothing material for everyday life. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, five types of women's clothing was produced, pursuing a natural design with a soft and feminine silhouette. Second, the colors used were blue and white, which could represent nature. Third, as for materials, this study used clothing that was to be thrown away: four pairs of denim pants and two denim dresses. This study chose denim cloth, with its great value for reuse, because of the characteristics of the strong and durable fiber, because everyone has more than one article of clothing made from denim and because it can be easily sourced. Fourth, for textile motifs, this study expressed a peaceful natural scenery with tropical animals and plants. In addition, this study further emphasized natural images using transfer media printing. This study has significance in that it presented the possibility of recycled fashion design and expanded the range of utilization using transfer media printing, a dyeing treatment to reduce the environmental burden.
