The Analysis of Distribution Characteristic on the Operation Cost for Respective Transport Volume and Travel Speed of New Transit System Bi-Modal Tram (녹색 신교통 시스템 바이모달트램의 수송수요 및 운행속도별 운영비용 분포특성 분석)

  • The status and effectiveness of Bi-modal Tram is analyzed through the comparison of the transport effectiveness and operation cost between the public transportation systems (bus, light rail transit) considering the vehicle and operation characteristic of new transit system Bi-modal Tram. The standard operation schedule is established in consideration of the vehicle specification and operation characteristic of main public transportation modes, and then the annual average operation cost is estimated depending on the volume, speed, analysis length for respective public transportation mode. Through analyzing the operation cost and distribution characteristic of public transportation modes depending on the transport volume and travel speed, the operational efficiency suitable for the city is derived. It is concluded that the operational efficiency of Bi-modal Tram is superior to that of the bus and light rail transit on the aspect of travel volume and operation speed.

  • In this paper, a totem pole PFC was structured in two methods with FET and diode for low-speed switch while GaN FET was used for high-speed switch. Internal power loss, power conversion efficiency and steady-state characteristics of the two methods were compared in the totem pole bridgeless PFC circuit which is widely applied in large-capacity and high-efficiency switching rectifier of 500W or more. In order to compare and confirm the steady-state characteristics under equal conditions, a 2kW class totem pole bridgeless PFC was constructed and the experimental results were analyzed. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the low-speed switch operation has a large difference in efficiency due to the internal conduction loss of the low-speed switch at a low input voltage. Especially, input power factor and load characteristic showed no difference regardless of the low-speed switch operation.

  • The positive displacement pump and the regenerative pump are widely used in the range of low specific speed, $n_s{\leq}100$[rpm, m3/min, m]. The positive displacement pump is not suitable for miniaturization and operation in high rotational speed. The regenerative pump has a problem with large leakage flow and low efficiency. While the centrifugal pump has advantages of high efficiency, miniaturization and high rotational speed, efficiency drops sharply with decrease in specific speed. Therefore the purpose of this study is to design a new type of centrifugal pump that has advantages of centrifugal pumps in operation in low specific speed. The name of this new type of pump was called 'Pipe type centrifugal pump', since the flow path through the impeller is simple circular pipe. Due to the simple shape of impeller, the manufacturing process is simple and cost is low. There is strong jet flow at the outlet of the impeller. This jet induces flow path loss, meridional dynamic pressure loss and mixing loss. Large disk friction makes the efficiency be limitted in the range of low specific speed. Even though the loss and the low efficiency, 'Pipe type centrifugal pump' represents stable performance, affordable pressure ratio and efficiency better than that of other low specific speed pumps.

  • Recently with the motorizing of electric home appliances and car systems, there is increasing interest in high efficiency electric motors. Thus, the present study described the operating characteristics of coreless AFPM motor that is highly efficient in high speed driving, and discussed its electric characteristics from the perspective of design. In particular, we examined back electromotive force and the magnetic field characteristic in slits, which have significant effects on the characteristic of the motor, and conducted simulation and experiment on control characteristic according to inductance characteristic. This study analyzed torque speed and efficient operation characteristic as well as control characteristic through comparing the result of motor design with the result of output characteristic experiment based on the electric network method. Furthermore, we evaluated vibration and noise that may occur due to the absence of core.

  • Stratum Axial Type BLDC Motor has remarkable efficiency owing to outstanding characteristics of speed and torque as well as its small size. In this paper 2-Degree of Freedom PI (TDOF PI) control method is presented in order to improve the efficiency of Stratum Axial Type BLDC Motor and the simulation proves that the separate control for speed characteristic from answering characteristic of load torque particularly allows the construction of superior control system to PI control system. These results are significant in that the improved Stratum Axial Type BLDC Motor enables the production of much smaller, lighter, and noiseless electric home appliances such as air-conditioner and refrigerator.

  • Hydraulic systems are widely used as a power transfer and/or power control system due to its flexibility, controllability, accuracy and high power density. Valve controlled and/or pump capacity controlled systems are normally adopted as a control device, but nowadays pump speed controlled systems are emerging as a new energy-efficient hydraulic control system. In this paper the pump speed controlled system for the cylinder position control of a counter balance circuit is investigated by simulation study and position control experiments were carried out. As a result, the possibility and efficiency of the pump speed controlled system were verified.

  • Pintle injector is the most suitable injector for thrust control because it can control the area of propellant injection. Accordingly, the combustion test of multiple hole pintle injector and continuous type pintle injector was carried out in this paper using liquid oxygen and gas methane. The combustion performance of the two pintles was verified with the characteristic speed efficiency, and the experimental results were compared according to the O/F and combustion chamber pressure and under similar conditions. The efficiency of the multi hole pintle was generally somewhat higher than continuous pintle when pintle opening distance(the area of dispensing oxidizer) was in a 100% thrust condition.

  • The computer program for the prediction of the volumetric efficiency of 4-cycle single cylinder diesel engine was developed using the characteristic method which considers the effects of friction, heat transfer and specific heat. The results of calculation by this program are as follows; 1. The back flowing was arised at the beginning and the closing stage of inlet valve, and the back flowing mass and velocity decrease as the engine speed increases. 2. The volumetric efficiency varies with the engine speed and the length of inlet manifold. There was an optimum length of inlet manifold for each specified engine speed. 3. The pressure fluctuation and friction effect in the inlet manifold became very important factors for the determination of the volumetric efficiency.

  • Generally, we made use of PID control for torque control, speed control and stability, Hence, dynamic characteristic of DC motor has been studied for stable drive and accurate speed control by many engineers. But, in this paper, we applied genetic algorithm to current control for robust control and stability In conclusion, we prove that current control of genetic algorithm can be high efficiency.

  • Authors studied the propulsion efficiency of G. T. 280 to 300 class tuna longliners used in Korea. At first authors calculated the ratios and factors of the ship by use of principal dimensions. In cordance with this ratios and factors authors, examined the effective horse power, propulsion ficiency and brake horse power, and following results are obtained. (1) EHP is slightly increased according to the increasing of Froude number and speed. (2) Value of propulsion coefficient is obtained in the range of 51-54% at the cruising speed an its average is 52% in 6-13 knot of the speed. (3) EHP and BHP are increased according to the increasing of prismatic coefficient at the same speed.
