Design and Implementation of Hangul Outline Font Generation Accelerator (한글 외곽선 글자체 생성 가속기의 설계 및 구현)

  • In this pape, we designed and implemented a hardware accelerator for the generation of bit map font from Hangul outline font description for LBP (Laser Beam Printer) and screen applications Whole system was implemented as a double size PC/AT application board which consists of processing bolck and display block. The processing block has a master processor (MC68000)and two slave processors which are MC56001 and KAFOG chip responsible for the short vector generation. In the display block, TMS34061 was used for monitor display and GP425 was used for LBP print out. The resolution of the monitor is 640$\times$480 and that of LBP is 2385$\times$3390. The current system called KHGB90-B generates about 100 characters per second where each character consists of 32$\times$32 bits

  • This paper proposes Story Generation system based on Emotional Agent. In the proposed system, Emotional Agent is used as Actor whereas Story Generation produces goal and detailed plans to achieve goal. The storyline is constructed when the goal oriented plan is processed. The proposed system is effective and realistic since it employs human-like Emotional Agent as a main character in generating story.

  • In this paper, we propose a graphic system for high speed generation of bitmap font data from the outline font data such as PostScript, etc. In desk-top publishing system. A VLSI chip called KAFOG was designed for the high-speed calculation of a cubic Bezier curve, which was implemented in 1.5\ulcorner CMOS gate array using 17,000 gates. A cubic Bezier curve is approximated by a set of line segments in KAFOG at the throughput of 250K curves per second with the clock frequency of 40 MHz. A prototype graphic system was developed using two MC6800 microprocessors and the KAFOG chip. Two microprocessors cooperate in a master and slave mode, and handshaking is used for communication between two processors. KAFOG chip, being controlled by the slave processor, operates as a coprocessor for the calculation of the outline font. The throughput of the prototype graphic system is 40 64$\times$64 outline fonts per sencond.

  • This paper proposes the system to generate caricature (character's face) resembling human face using extracted facial features automatically. Since this system is vector-based, the generated character's face has no size limit and constraint. So it is available to transform the shape freely and to apply various facial expressions to 2D face. Moreover, owing to the vector file's advantage, it can be used in mobile environment as small file site.

  • Characters' nonvocal communication plays an essential role in delivering lines and expressing emotions. A character in a game is represented with its nonvocal behavior combined with a large number of lines. In this paper, characters' nonvocal communication behaviors are categorized and analyzed. Furthermore, characters' gestures and movements are designed with bones for character gesture generation in 2D games. Besides, characters' movements are visualized. In brief, a nonvocal communication system for emotional expression of characters in 2D games is proposed.

  • The purpose of this study is to present inner wear design making use of domestic characters that can represent the emotions of those kidults, to develop differentiated products as a result of recent revitalization of inner wear industry and to propose the possibility of total marketing in domestic character industry. Three characters of Barunson, which leads the way in developing domestic character products for inner wear design to satisfy the needs of the emotional generation were selected and work began on the designs based on the selected characters' images and themes. The result of this study was as follows. First, adding new designs using characters to inner wear fits the trend. Second, it was able to expand a range of characters' marketability by developing inner wear designs using domestic stationary and fancy characters as motives, and to seek the possibility of developing 'total marketing' plans in domestic character industry. Third, we were able to recognize the possibility of domestic character development and the importance of design development by developing products making use of domestic characters rather than foreign characters.

  • Since the industrial revolution, the global environmental problems such as greenhouse gas accumulation and the average temperature increase have caused people's attention. 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' was presented to cope with these global concerns, as one of main policies of 2008 in Korea. The paradigm of a green urban development is started to concern the whole city's energy problems owing to realize 'Low Carbon, Green Growth' in the urban side. The government established a nation's basic energy plan for 20 years, and some local cities made efforts to develop new renewable energy such as the solar, wind and water energy which are suitable to each city's character. As a part of these efforts, the concept of U-Eco city is newly appeared to reflect upon ubiquitous technique, urban ecology and the next generation energy system. However, urban plan is difficult to adopt this next generation energy system with existing laws, regulations and technical systems. The new executive and systematic system is needed to realize the U-Eco city U-Eco for the management of an efficient city. In this study, the authors investigate the concept of the next generation energy system and U-Eco city to realize the energy-efficient city plan and analyze problems to occur during the application of them in an existing city plan. Then, the authors show the remedies to deal with occurred problems.

  • The paper proposes a novel control algorithm for tracking maximum power of PV generation system.. The maximum power of PV array is determinated by a insolation and temperature. Prior considered the term in PV generation system is how maximum power point(MPP) is accurately tracked.. The paper proposes a fuzzy neural network(FNN) control algorithm so as to accurately track those maximum power points. The proposed control algorithm comprises the antecedence part of fuzzy rule and clustering method, multi-layer neural network in the consequent part. FNN has the advantages which are depicted both high performance and robustness in fuzzy control and high adaptive control in neural network.. Specially, it can show the outstanding control performance for parameter variations appling to non-linear character of PV array. In this paper, the tracking speed and the accuracy prove the validity through comparing a proposed algorithm with a conventional one.

Proposal for License Plate Recognition Using Synthetic Data and Vehicle Type Recognition System (가상 데이터를 활용한 번호판 문자 인식 및 차종 인식 시스템 제안)

  • In this paper, a vehicle type recognition system using deep learning and a license plate recognition system are proposed. In the existing system, the number plate area extraction through image processing and the character recognition method using DNN were used. These systems have the problem of declining recognition rates as the environment changes. Therefore, the proposed system used the one-stage object detection method YOLO v3, focusing on real-time detection and decreasing accuracy due to environmental changes, enabling real-time vehicle type and license plate character recognition with one RGB camera. Training data consists of actual data for vehicle type recognition and license plate area detection, and synthetic data for license plate character recognition. The accuracy of each module was 96.39% for detection of car model, 99.94% for detection of license plates, and 79.06% for recognition of license plates. In addition, accuracy was measured using YOLO v3 tiny, a lightweight network of YOLO v3.

The Hangeul image's recognition and restoration based on Neural Network and Memory Theory (신경회로망과 기억이론에 기반한 한글영상 인식과 복원)

  • In this study, it proposes the neural network system for character recognition and restoration. Proposes system composed by recognition part and restoration part. In the recognition part. it proposes model of effective pattern recognition to improve ART Neural Network's performance by restricting the unnecessary top-down frame generation and transition. Also the location feature extraction algorithm which applies with Hangeul's structural feature can apply the recognition. In the restoration part, it composes model of inputted image's restoration by Hopfield neural network. We make part experiments to check system's performance, respectively. As a result of experiment, we see improve of recognition rate and possibility of restoration.
