  • Channel characteristics-based secret key generation is an effective physical-layer security method. The issues of how to remove the effect of random noise and to balance the key generation rate (KGR) and the bit mismatch rate (BMR) are needed to be addressed. In this paper, to reduce the effect of random noise and extract more secret bits, a new quantization scheme with high key generation rate and low bit mismatch rate is proposed. In our proposed scheme, we try to use all measurements and correct the differences caused by noise at the boundary regions instead of simply dropping them. We evaluate and discuss the improvements of our proposed scheme. The results show that our proposed scheme achieves lower bit mismatch rate as well as remaining high key generation rate.

  • In this letter, we consider a cooperation system with multiple untrusted relays (URs). To keep the transmitted information confidential, we obtain joint channel characteristics (JCCs) through combining the channels from the source to the destination. Then, in the null space of the JCCs, jammers construct artificial noise to confuse URs when the source node broadcasts its data. Through a distributed implementation algorithm, the weight of each node can be obtained from its own channel state information. Simulation results show that high-level security of the system can be achieved when internal and external eavesdroppers coexist.

  • We consider the tapped-delay line (TDL) equalizer with the few calculation quantity and the simplity, the decision feedback equalizer (DFE) with the good property for interference, and lattice equalizer(LE) with high insensitivity to roundoff noise in mobile communication fading channel. The used adaptive algorithm is the LMS algorithm and RLS algorithm. In this paper, we have evaluated the performance of the TDL equalizer, the decision feedback equalizer, and lattice-structured equalizer, for the digital signal corrupted by the impulsive noise and the white gaussian noise under the fading channel environment. From the results of error performance analysis, it is confirmed that lattice-structured equalizer has better performance than DFE equalizer and TDL equalizer.

  • In this Paper, the channel characteristics of the medium voltage(22.9kV) power line to analysis the broadband power line communication in the frequency range up to 30MHz was measured. With the sideband electrical coupler in the operating frequency range from DC to 30MHz, we measured characteristic impedance, noise and attenuation of the medium voltage power line, and then characteristic impedance was measured at the state of unloaded medium voltage power line by Scattering parameter method of Vector Network Analyzer. As a measurement result, Channel impedance shows 100~380$\Omega$ at the less than 15MHz and 70~230$\Omega$ at the more than 15 MHz. Noise characteristics of power line shows -75dBm at 20MHz and Narrowband interference noise was from 3 MHz to 7MHz.

  • In this paper, we discuss optical encryption and decryption considering wireless communication channels. In wireless communication systems, the wireless channel causes noise and fading effects of the transmitted information. Optical encryption technique such as double-random-phase encryption (DRPE) is used for encrypting transmitted data. When the encrypted data is transmitted, the information may be lost or distorted because there are a lot of factors such as channel noise, propagation fading, etc. Thus, using digital modulation and maximum likelihood (ML) detection, the noise and fading effects are mitigated, and the encrypted data is estimated well at the receiver. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report that considers the wireless channel characteristics of the optical encryption technique.

  • In this paper we present Multiple-Channel Active Noise Control[ANC] system by employing Independent Component Analysis[ICA] and Adaptive Network Fuzzy Inference System[ANFIS]. ICA is widely used in signal processing and communication and it use prewhiting and appropriate choice of non-linearities, ICA can separate mixed signal. ANFIS controller is trained with the hybrid learning algorithm to optimize its parameters for adaptively canceling noise. This new method which minimizes a statistical dependency of mutual information(MI) in mixed low frequency noise signal and there is no need to secondary path modeling. The proposed implementations achieve more powerful and stable noise reduction than Filtered-X LMS algorithms which is needed for LTI assumption and precise secondary error

  • In DCA (Dynamic Channel Allocation) scheme of uplink cellular system appling a frequency reuse factor of one, when a new call requests a channel, the new call will be blocked if its SINR (Carrier to Noise and Interference Ratio) is less than the required SINR or there is no available channel. The additional channel allocation for the blocked new call can be performed with channel borrowing in the adjacent cells. The channel borrowing causes the CCI (Co-Channel Interference), thus the SINR of the existing calls is deteriorated and the channel reallocation for the existing calls is required. As a result, the channel borrowing leads to a complex calculation so that it is a NP-hard problem. Therefore, to overcome the problem, we propose a novel Group Search-based DCA scheme which decreases the number of the blocked new calls and then reduces the number of the channel reallocation by the channel borrowing for the blocked new calls. The proposed scheme searches the all channels in a group of the adjacent cells and home cell at the same time in order to minimizes the number of the blocked new calls. The simulation results show that proposed Group Search-based DCA scheme provides better new call blocking probability and system throughput than the existing Single Search-based DCA scheme which searches only the channels in home cell.

  • To investigate SPICE noise model and the behavior of its parameters, 1/f noise of NMOS devices fabricated by BiCMOS process is measured and compared to the various noise models and measured results. For the long channel devices, bias dependence of the drain current noise power spectral density $S_{Id}$ of NMOS is similar to the previous results. Equivalent gate noise power spectral density $S_{Vg}$ shows weak dependence on the gate and drain voltages in long channel NMOS as the previous results. However, it is shown that most of published noise models are difficult to apply to short channel devices. Therefore, in this study, with comparison of our experimental results, we have tried to find the model of 1/f noise, appropriate for our NMOS device fabricated by BiCMOS process.

  • In OFDM system, cyclic prefix (CP) is used to eliminate the inersymbol interference that is caused by the channel dispersion. However, a long CP reduces the data transmission rate. An alternative to a logn CP is the a time domain channel shortening filter at the receiver that shortens the effective channel, thus a short CP is used in spite of a long channel impulse response. In the paper, we compare a various channel shortening techniques; minimum shortened signal to noise ratio (MSSNR), minimum interblock interference (min-IBI), and minimum ISI (min-ISI).
