EFFECTS OF RESIN CEMENTS, CERAMIC SURFACE TREATMENTS AND THERMOCYCLING ON SHEAR BOND STRENGTH OF IPS EMPRESS CERAMIC (레진시멘트, 표면처리 및 열순환에 따른 IPS Empress의 전단결합강도)

  • This study evaluated the shear bond properties of IPS Empress glass ceramic to enamel and dentin surfaces with three ceramic surface treatments, and three resin cements. The influence of thermocycling was also investigated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influences of resin cements, ceramic surface treatments, and thermocycling on shear bond properties. Ninety freshly extracted, noncarious human molars were selected for this study. The surface treatments of ceramic were etching <5.0% hydrofluoric acid, application of silane coupling agents(Tokuso Ceramic Primer, Clearfil porcelain bond, Monobond-S), and the combination of the two methods. Empress cylinders were bonded to enamel and dentin surfaces with three kinds of resin cements(Bistite resin cement, Panavia 21, Variolink). The specimens were aged in $37^{\circ}C$ distilled water for 24 hours. Half of the specimens were then thermocycled 500times between $5^{\circ}C$ and $55^{\circ}C$ with a dwell time of 15 seconds. Each specimen was debonded in shear mode and measured shear bond properties by using the universal testing machine(Zwick 020, Germany). The data were analyzed by SPSS/PC+(one-way ANOVA, Scheffe' s test and t-test). The results were as follows : 1. Without thermocyling, there was significant difference of shear bond strength to enamel surface between Bistite Resin Cement and Panavia 21 in case of etched and silane-treatment(p<0.05). 2. Without thermocyling, the shear bond strength of a group treated with silane and etching was significantly higher than that of a group treated with silane or etching with the application of Panavia 21 and Variolink(p<0.05). 3. A group treated with etching with the application of Variolink only showed a decrease of shear bond strength after thermocycling(p<0.05).

Effect of Heat Treatment on the Morphology and Transparency of Thick Inorganic-Organic Hybrid Films Prepared by the Electrophoretic Sol-Gel Deposition of Polyphenylsilsesquioxane Particles

  • Thick inorganic-organic hybrid films were prepared on ITO-coated glass substrates by the electrophoretic sol-gel deposition of polyphenylsilsesquioxane particles. The morphology of the deposited films changed from the aggregate of the spherical particles to monolith by heat treatment at temperatures higher than $200^{\circ}C$. Transparency of the films was significantly improved accompanied by the morphological change of the particles. The degree of the morphological change was governed by two factors; maximum heat treatment temperature and heating rate. Transparent thick films of ca. 3$\mu\textrm{m}$ in thickness were obtained only by heat treatment at $400^{\circ}C$ for 2h with rapid heating from room temperature to $400^{\circ}C$. These films obtained were strongly adhered to the ITO-coated glass substrates and has a very smooth surface.

A Study on Bloating of Porous Ceramic (다공성 세라믹의 발포에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, lightweight aggregate was made from basalt stone powder sludge. Clay and glass powder were respectively added from 0 to 20 wt% and from 0 to 100 wt%. The glass powder helped to form glassy phase which trapped generating gas in the materials. $CaCO_3$ helping bloating process was added from 0 to 10 wt%. It was possible to produce lightweight aggregate at range from $1150^{\circ}C$ to $1200^{\circ}C$. The specimen was heated in furnace at 1100, 1150 and $1200^{\circ}C$ for 15 min, respectively, to sinter aggregates. Chemical composition of materials were determined, and characteristics were analyzed, including specific gravity, water absorption. Lightweight aggregate which was heated at $1200^{\circ}C$ had specific gravity of $0.53g/cm^3$, water absorption of 3.08%, and this value satisfied KS L 8551 standard.

Electrooptic Properties of PLZT Thin Films Prepared by Sol-Gel Method (Sol-Gel법으로 제조한 PLZT 박막의 전기광학특성)

  • In this study, $(Pb_{0.88}La_{0.12})(Zr_{0.40}Ti_{0.60})O_{2.97}$ (La/Zr/Ti=12/40/60) ceramic thin films were fabricated from an alkoxide-based by Sol-Gel method. PLZT stock solutions were made and spin-coated on the ITO-glass rubstrate at 4000[rpm] for 30[sec]. Coated specimens were baked to remove the organic materials at $400[^{\circ}C]$ for 10[min]. This procedure was repeated 5 times. The coated films were finally annealed at $450{\sim}700[^{\circ}C]$ for 1[hr]. The ferroelectric perovskite phases precipitated under the sintering of $550{\sim}700[^{\circ}C]$ for 1[hr]. Relative dielectric constant of the PLZT thin were increased with increasing the sintering temperature, the thin file sintered at $650[^{\circ}C]$ showed the highest value of 196. But in the PLZT thin film sintered at $700[^{\circ}C]$, relative dielectric constant was greatly decreased due to reacts between ITO electrode and glass substrate. In all thin films, the transmittance was more than 70[%] (at 632.8[nm]).

  • The localization of manufacturing technique development is actualizing for low cost with supplies of display devices. We need more high cutting technique because consumers want flat glasses of various sizes. Recently, most general two methods are normal wheel cutting and laser cutting, but both of them have some faults. First, the wheel cutting has cracks and sharp edges of sections. Second, it is easy for laser cutting to cut curved lines. however, it has thermal damage and low traverse speed. I suggest a new cutting method by high-wave frequency vibration wheel cutting(HFVC), which is good for quality improvement. Vertical cracks and crack depth is observed, after HFVC. When the average of the crack depth is $30{\mu}m$ and the average of the wallner liner depth is $200{\mu}m$, it has the most high quality of the sections in this experiment. As a result, when we consider between the normal wheel cutting method and the HFVC method, the latter has low cracks and good quality.

The Effect of Far Infrared Radiation of $\beta$-Spodumene Glass-Ceramics Flims Coated on Iron Substrate by Sol-Gel Technique (졸-겔법에 의한 금속기판상의 $\beta$-spodumene 결정성유리의 박영도포와 원적외선상세성)

  • Films of glass-ceramics $Li_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$(LAS)system were prepared on substrate of an iron plate(SCP) by sol-gel technique using metal alkoxide such as Si$(OC_2H_5)_4$,Al$(OC_2H_9)_3$) and Ti$(OC_2H_6)_4$). Sol which was made by means of simple spray coating, on the substrate was hydrolyzed at 75~$80^{\circ}C$ in moisture cabinet (80~90 % humidity) to form the multicomponent gel. The films up to about 0.8~1.0$mu extrm{m}$ in thickness can be obtained by repeating operation, spraylongrightarrowhydrolysis and condensationlongrightarrowdryinglongrightarrowheating and crystallization at $700^{\circ}C$ for 3~5min. The far-infrared radiation spectra of the coated films on substrate were examined by FT-IR and of films was also observed by scanning electron micrograph technique. The thermal evaluation of the gel-film is followed by TG/DTA measurements. The structure evaluation is followedd X-ray diffraction. These results suggest that this process is applicable to far-infrared radiat at thin film technique.

Crystalline Phases and Dielectric Properties of Crystallized Glasses in the System (Ca, Sr, Ba) O-Al2O3-B2O3-SiO2-TiO2

  • Crystallization of glasses in the system (Ca, Sr, Ba)$O-Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-SiO_2-TiO_2$ and dielectric properties of crystallized glasses were investigated. As increasing B2O3 content and decreasing SiO2 content in the glass, the major crystalline phase changed from $(Sr, Ba)_2TiSi_2O_8$ to (Ca, Sr, Ba)TiO3, the dielectric constant of crystallized glasses increased and the Temperature Coefficient of Capacitance (TCC) changed to negative. The dielectric constant and TCC was estimated for (Sr, Ba)2TiSi2O8 phase as 18 and -440 $ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively and for (Ca, Sr, Ba)TiO3 phase as 307 and -1900 $ppm/^{\circ}C$, respectively. The dielectric properties of (Ca, Sr, Ba)TiO3 phase (in this study) were similar to those of (Ca, Ba) TiO_3 solid-solution^12)$, but $(Sr, Ba)_2TiSi_2O_8$ phase (in this study) and $Sr_2TiSi_2O_\;8^4$ showed the different properties.

  • In this study (B $a_{0.5}$/S $r_{0.5}$)Ti $O_3$[BST(50/50)] ceramic thin films were prepared by the Sol-Gel method BST(50/50) stock solution was made and spin-coated on the Indium Tin Oxide(ITO)/glass substrate at 4000 rpm for 30 seconds. The coated films were dried at 35$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes and annealed at 650~75$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The microstructural properties of the BST(50/50) thin film were studied by the XRD and AFM. The ferroelectric perovskite phase was formed at the annealing condition of 75$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. Dielectric constant and loss of this thin were 370, 3.7% at room temperature respectively. The polarization switching voltage showed the good value of 3V. The leakage current density of the BST(50/50) thin film was 10$^{-7A}$c $m^2$with applied voltage of 1.5V. BST(50/50) thin film capacitors having good dielectric and electrical properties are expecting for the application to the dielectric material of DRAM.RAM.M.

  • Sintering characteristics and electrical properties of xPb(Mg$_{1}$8/Te$_{1}$8/Mn$_{1}$4/Nb$_{1}$2/) $O_{3}$-(1-x) Pb (Zr$_{1}$2/ $Ti_{1}$2/) $O_{3}$ (x=0.075, 0.1, 0.125) ceramics are investigated. A sintering temperature of ceramics could be reduced to 950.deg. C by a reaction between PbO and B site compound material. The physical properties of 0.1Pb(Mg, Te, Mn, Nb) $O_{3}$ - 0.9Pb(Zr, Ti) $O_{3}$ bulk ceramic with 3wt% glass frit(0.857PbO-0.143W $O_{3}$) were following : den = 7.95 g/cm$^{3}$, T$_{c}$=340.deg. C, .epsilon.$_{33}$= 754, k$_{31}$=0.3 and Q.=1780. The 3-layer piezoelectric transformer by using a tape casting method showed a good monolithic structure, and its voltage setup ratio was 2.5 times higher than that of a single device by using bulk ceramics.s.s.

  • $Na_2O-CaO-MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ glass was taken as a basic glass and then $Li_2O$ O.5wt%, $K_2O$ 2.0wt% were substituted to $Na_2O$content, MgO 12.0wt %, ZnO 6.0wt % to CaO content. And also nucleation agent $ZrO_2 and $CaF_2$ were added to 1-2wt% respectively. The crystal according to the compositions appeared wollastonite, diopside and diopside.tremolite. The glasses substituted NazO by LizO was decreased thermal expansion coeffcient but substituted by ZnO was opposite direction and both of them increased bending strength. In the ratio of ZrOz to CaF, each 1: 1 and 1: 2 have shown considerable crystal growth at $1000^{circ}C~1050^{\circ}C$ and high bending strength, but the glass in the ratio 1: 2 have shown lowest thermal expansion coefficient. The activation energy was at the glass in the ratio of ZrO, to CaFz 1:2 evaluated 55.24kvsl/mol by Ozawa type and 53.05kal/mol by kissinger type.
