This study analyzed the centrality of the GVCs network and the value-added-based production structure of the electrical and electronic industries using ADB-MIRO and social network analysis methods. According to the analysis, the centrality and power of the GVSc intermediate goods network were differentiated into China, the United States, and the EU due to the advancement of industrial structure in Asia. In the 2000 network, the United States and Japan had a very strong influence in all aspects, including connectivity and strength. However, in 2017, China's power index rose to number one among 62 countries in the network. Furthermore, this study presented strategic implications of the Korean electrical and electronic industries to respond to the reorganization of GVSs based on the analysis results.

Existing researches on movie genre have been focusing on the relationship between a specific genre and performance of a movie. However, most of films cross into multiple genres and new approach is needed for analyzing a genre network. In this study social network analysis was used to analyze the genre centrality and its relationship with movie performance by developing a genre network, i.e. network among multiple genres constructed via genre co-occurrence pattern in a specific movie. Three index of genre centrality, eigenvector centrality, degree centrality, and bonacich power centrality, were tested for the valued genre network. Results showed that the relationship between genre centrality and movie performance appeared to be inverted U-shaped. This empirical finding is in line with the theory of ambidexterity which emphasizes the balance of exploration and exploitation. In addition, this study can provide practical implications for movie producers, distributors, and theaters that need to develop genre strategies.

As transit networks are becoming more multimodal, the concept of connectivity of transit networks becomes important. This study aims to develop a quantitative model for measuring the connectivity of multimodal transit networks. To that end, we select, as evaluation measures of a transit line, its length, capacity, and speed. We then define the connecting power of a transit line as the product of those measures. The degree centrality of a node, which is a widely used centrality measure in social network analysis, is employed with appropriate modifications suited for transit networks. Using the degree centrality of a transit stop and the connecting powers of transit lines serving the transit stop, we develop an index quantifying the level of connectivity of the transit stop. From the connectivity indexes of transit stops, we derive the connectivity index of a transit line as well as an area of a multimodal transit network. In addition, we present a method to evaluate the connectivity of a transfer center using the connectivity indexes of transit stops and passenger acceptance rate functions. A case study shows that the connectivity evaluation model developed in this study takes well into consideration characteristics of multimodal transit networks, adequately measures the connectivity of transit stops, lines, and areas, and furthermore can be used in determining the level of service of transfer centers.

With an advent of recent knowledge-based society, the interest in intellectual property has increased. Firms have tired to result in productive outcomes through continuous innovative activity. Especially, ICT firms which lead high-tech industry have tried to manage intellectual property more systematically. Firm's interest in the patent has increased in order to manage the innovative activity and Knowledge property. The patent involves not only simple information but also important values as information of technology, management and right. Moreover, as the patent has the detailed contents regarding technology development activity, it is regarded as valuable data. The patent which reflects technology spread and research outcomes and business performances are closely interrelated as the patent is considered as a significant the level of firm's innovation. As the patent information which represents companies' intellectual capital is accumulated continuously, it has become possible to do quantitative analysis. The advantages of patent in the related industry information and it's standardize information can be easily obtained. Through the patent, the flow of knowledge can be determined. The patent information can analyze in various levels from patent to nation. The patent information is used to analyze technical status and the effects on performance. The patent which has a high frequency of citation refers to having high technological values. Analyzing the patent information contains both citation index analysis using the number of citation and network analysis using citation relationship. Network analysis can provide the information on the flows of knowledge and technological changes, and it can show future research direction. Studies using the patent citation analysis vary academically and practically. For the citation index research, studies to analyze influential big patent has been conducted, and for the network analysis research, studies to find out the flows of technology in a certain industry has been conducted. Social network analysis is applied not only in the sociology, but also in a field of management consulting and company's knowledge management. Research of how the company's network position has an impact on business performances has been conducted from various aspects in a field of network analysis. Social network analysis can be based on the visual forms. Network indicators are available through the quantitative analysis. Social network analysis is used when analyzing outcomes in terms of the position of network. Social network analysis focuses largely on centrality and structural holes. Centrality indicates that actors having central positions among other actors have an advantage to exert stronger influence for exchange relationship. Degree centrality, betweenness centrality and closeness centrality are used for centrality analysis. Structural holes refer to an empty place in social structure and are defined as efficiency and constraints. This study stresses and analyzes firms' network in terms of the patent and how network characteristics have an influence on business performances. For the purpose of doing this, seventy-four ICT companies listed in S&P500 are chosen for the sample. UCINET6 is used to analyze the network structural characteristics such as outdegree centrality, betweenness centrality and efficiency. Then, regression analysis test is conducted to find out how these network characteristics are related to business performance. It is found that each network index has significant impacts on net income, i.e. business performance. However, it is found that efficiency is negatively associated with business performance. As the efficiency increases, net income decreases and it has a negative impact on business performances. Furthermore, it is shown that betweenness centrality solely has statistically significance for the multiple regression analysis with three network indexes. The patent citation network analysis shows the flows of knowledge between firms, and it can be expected to contribute to company's management strategies by analyzing company's network structural positions.

This study analyzed keyword networks and Author's Affiliation networks of hydrogen-related papers published in Korea Citation Index (KCI) journals from 2016 to 2020. The study investigated co-occurrence patterns of institutions over time to examine collaboration trends of hydrogen scholars. The study also conducted frequency analysis of keyword networks to identify key topics and visualized keyword networks to explore topic trends. The result showed Collaborative research between institutions has not yet been extensively expanded. However, collaboration trends were much more pronounced with local universities. Keyword network analysis exhibited continuing diversification of topics in hydrogen research of Korea. In addition centrality analysis found hydrogen research mostly deals with multi-disciplinary and complex aspects like hydrogen production, transportation, and public policy.

The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of researches that have been conducted for the last 20 years through analyzing global research trends and evolutions of design articles from 1999 to 2018 with keyword network analysis. For this purpose, we selected 3,569 articles in 22 journals related to design research retrieved from the Scopus database and constructed keyword network model through the author keyword and index keyword. The frequency of the author and index keyword, the centrality of betweenness and degree were analyzed with the keyword network. The results show that design has been applied to various fields for recent 20 years, and the research trends of design could be quantitatively characterized by keyword network analysis. The result of this study could be used to suggest future research topics in the field of design based on quantitative and empirical data.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between the centrality and the research performance by conducting the social network analysis for the social science journal in the last 10 years. As a result of the relationship analysis, the correlation between centrality and research productivity was highly correlated in most groups, but the impact factor and frequency of citations were not significant. In relation with the comprehensive research such as a H-index, middle productive group correlation was more significant than the upper productive group.

This study was conducted to find information on the university's image from words related to 'Korea National College of Agriculture and Fisheries (KNCAF)' in Naver News. For this purpose, word frequency analysis, TF-IDF evaluation and semantic network analysis were performed using web crawling technology. In word frequency analysis, 'agriculture', 'education', 'support', 'farmer', 'youth', 'university', 'business', 'rural', 'CEO' were important words. In the TF-IDF evaluation, the key words were 'farmer', 'dron', 'agricultural and livestock food department', 'Jeonbuk', 'young farmer', 'agriculture', 'Chonju', 'university', 'device', 'spreading'. In the semantic network analysis, the Bigrams showed high correlations in the order of 'youth' - 'farmer', 'digital' - 'agriculture', 'farming' - 'settlement', 'agriculture' - 'rural', 'digital' - 'turnover'. As a result of evaluating the importance of keywords as five central index, 'agriculture' ranked first. And the keywords in the second place of the centrality index were 'farmers' (Cc, Cb), 'education' (Cd, Cp) and 'future' (Ce). The sperman's rank correlation coefficient by centrality index showed the most similar rank between Degree centrality and Pagerank centrality. The KNCAF articles of Naver News were used as important words such as 'agriculture', 'education', 'support', 'farmer', 'youth' in terms of word frequency. However, in the evaluation including document frequency, the words such as 'farmer', 'dron', 'Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs', 'Jeonbuk', and 'young farmers' were found to be key words. The centrality analysis considering the network connectivity between words was suitable for evaluation by Cd and Cp. And the words with strong centrality were 'agriculture', 'education', 'future', 'farmer', 'digital', 'support', 'utilization'.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the co-author networks in the Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, a representative journal published by a branch of the domestic psychiatric academy, in order to present the current state of the co-authoring of and developments in child and adolescent psychiatry. Methods: We visualized and estimated the basic characteristics of the co-author networks shown by 564 authors who wrote 251 papers published in the Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry between 2005 and 2015, in order to assess their network characteristics, author centrality, and relevance to research performance. Results: The co-author networks in the Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry showed the characteristics of a small world and scale-free network. There was a correlation between the author centrality within the network and the research performance of the authors, but less correlation was shown between the centrality and mean paper citation counts. Conclusion: The network structure in the Journal of the Korean Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry showed similarity to the co-authoring of other branches. However, given that the mean paper citation counts were less correlated with the author centrality than those in other branches, it may be necessary to promote an increase in the mean paper citation counts.

The role and ratio of national vessels in the global container shipping market have reduced significantly due to the bankruptcy of Hanjin Shipping in early 2017. All import-export companies, as well as container ports in Korea, are facing a crisis. The Trump's tariff and trade battles have had a negative impact on the increase in the North American cargo. However, Chinese and Japanese container shipping companies, which merged with domestic container shipping companies, and mega carriers such as Maersk and CMA CGM have benefited from the decline in shipping supplies due to the collapse of Hanjin Shipping, the world's 10th largest container carrier in Korea. The import/export freight trade in Korea is witnessing the increasing stronghold of foreign carriers. This scenario is expected to weaken Korea's negotiation powers with overseas shipping companies in domestic ports, such as Busan and Kwangyang, thereby making it more challenging to attract shipping carriers. This study compares the global container-shipping network in 2007 and 2017 by combining the network topology of the social network analysis and the economics of the liner shipping connectivity index (LSCI) and the container port connectivity index (CPCI) analysis. The findings of this study are that the role of the ports across the world can be identified, and CPCI has a high correlation with the centrality index and freight volume data. These findings can contribute toward the utilization of the meaning of the necessary centrality index without an additional centrality analysis. This study can be applied not only to the call strategy of container carriers but also to the alliance and development strategy of Korean ports.
