Due to the revised Korean standard KS L 5201 for Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC), the use of mixed cement has grown from 5% to 10%. This study investigates the hydration behavior of $C_3A$, asit is a cement mixture that is more commonly used than granulated blast furnace slag or limestone alone. Paste samples were prepared with either granulated blast furnace slag or limestone alone. Each sample was compared with the widely used Rietveld method with a cement mixture containing blast furnace slag or limestone. The hydration behavior of $C_3A$ in each OPC sample was assessed and results were analyzed. Granulated blast furnace slag promotes a high initial level of ettringite, but as the days passed, it promotes an increase in monosulfate, leading to cracks and expansion due to the penetration of sulfates in the solution. However, when limestone is added to the mixture, a transformation of ettringite to monosulfate occurs in the presence of the $CaCO_3$ in the limestone. It is considered that this produces hemi-carbonate and mono-carbonate and thus maintains the ettringite level.

For the purpose of reducing the amount of limestone, which is used as a desulfurization agent to absorbing $SO_X$ gas in thermal power plants, and to recycle limestone sludge generated from a steel mill, limestone sludge was utilized as a desulfurization agent. In this study, cement, made of flue gas desulfurization (FGD) gypsum obtained in a desulfurization process using limestone sludge, was manufactured then, experiments were conducted to identify the physical properties of the paste and mortar using the cement. The results of the crystal phase and microstructure analyses showed that the hydration product of the manufactured cement was similar to that of ordinary Portland cement. No significant decline of workability or compressive strength was observed for any of the specimens. From the results of the experiment, it was determined that FGD gypsum manufactured from limestone sludge did not influence the physical properties of the cement also, quality change did not occur with the use of limestone sludge in the flue gas desulfurization process.
This paper presents the properties of pervious concrete containing high-calcium fly ash. The water to binder ratios of 0.19, 0.22, and 0.25, designed void ratios of 15, 20, and 25%, and fly ash replacements of 10, 20, and 30% were used. The results showed that the use of fly ash as partial replacement of Portland cement enhanced the mixing of paste resulting in a uniform mix and reduced amount of superplasticizer used in the mixture. The compressive strength and flexural strength of pervious concrete were slightly reduced with an increase in fly ash replacement level, while the abrasion resistance increased due mainly to the pozzolanic and filler effects. The compressive strength and flexural strengths at 28 days were still higher than 85% of the control concrete. The aggregate size also had a significant effect on the strength of pervious concrete. The compressive strength and flexural strength of pervious concrete with large aggregate were higher than that with small aggregate.

This research is to examine the selected method of optimal mixing proportion and cost analysis in the super flowing concrete. As confined water $ratio($\beta_p$)$ and K is introduced, itis to establish optimal mixing design of super flowing concrete according to the steps of paste, mortar and concrete. From paste and mortar test, it was led to $$\beta_p$$ and $K_p$satisfying the optimum condions depending on the kinds of binders. Then $$\beta_p$$ and $K_p$ is reflected to the mix condition of super flowing concrete. The result of test, the mix condition of super flowing concrete satisfied the quality performance of concrete with adjustment of additional rate of the superplasticizer. Besides, in case of design strength $350kg/\textrm{cm}^2$ of concrete, material cost in super flowing concrete is able to be reduced 5~16% in replacement of fly ash 30% in ordinary portland cement and slag cement.
PURPOSES : In this paper, the flow of construction material was simulated using computational fluid dynamics in a 2D axisymmetric condition to evaluate the effect of initial or varying material properties on the final shape of a specimen. METHODS : The CFD model was verified by using a well-known analytical solution for a given test condition followed by performing a sensitivity analysis to evaluate the effect of material properties on the final shape of material. Varying dynamic viscosity and yield stress were also considered. RESULTS : The CFD model in a 2D axisymmetric condition agreed with the analytical solution for most yield stress conditions. Minor disagreements observed at high yield stress conditions indicate improper application of the pure shear assumption for the given material behavior. It was also observed that the variation of yield stress and dynamic viscosity during curing had a meaningful effect on the final shape of the specimen. CONCLUSIONS : It is concluded that CFD modeling in a 2D axisymmetric condition is good enough to evaluate fluidal characteristics of material. The model is able to consider varying yield stress and viscosity during curing. The 3D CFD-DEM coupled model may be required to consider the interaction of aggregates in fluid.
Accelerated carbonation is a technique that can be used as a CCS technology for $CO_2$ sequestration of approximately 5~20% in a stable solid through the precipitation of carbonate. An alkaline inorganic waste material such as ash, slag, and cement paste are generated from incinerators, accelerated carbonation offers the advantage of lower transport and processing costs at the same generation location of waste and $CO_2$. In this study, we evaluated an amount of $CO_2$ sequestration in various types of inorganic alkaline waste processed by means of accelerated carbonation. A quantitative evaluation of $CO_2$ real sequestration based on a TG/DTA analysis, the maximum 118.88 $g/kg_{-waste}$ of $CO_2$ in paper sludge fly ash, the maximum 134.46 $g/kg_{-waste}$ of $CO_2$ in municipal solid waste incinerator bottom ash, the maximum 9.72 $g/kg_{-waste}$ of $CO_2$ in industrial solid waste incinerator fly ash, and the maximum $18.19g/kg_{-waste}$ of $CO_2$ in waste cement paste.

The fine blast furnace slag is widely used as the admixture as it helps to increase the fluidity, long term strength of the concrete but decrease the heat of hydration. In case of the fine blast furnace slag, if the fineness of the slag is enhanced with the addition of gypsum to the concrete for the supplement of low strength in early stage and the facilitation of the initial hydration, the quality of the concrete is expected to change depending on the volume of the gypsum volume fraction. But, up to now the study on the fine blast furnace slag has only focused on the effect of fineness, replacement and admixture and there have been almost no studies on the effect of the gypsum volume fraction. Accordingly, this study focuses on what effect the gypsum volume fraction would make on the fluidity characteristics of the ultrafine furnace slag cement paste by using the rheology properties.
Hardened cement pastes of OPC which contains 10 wt% CSA type expansive additives were immersed in aqueous solution of 10 wt% MgS $O_4$.7$H_2O$ and then investigated by compressive strength, XRD. SEM and DSC etc.. According to the results including the hydration products and the microstructure of the hardened paste, the case of CSA type expansive additives[No. 6(C/(equation omitted) : 2.29, A/(equation omitted) : 0.16)] prepared from raw materials increased the resistance to $Mg^{2+}$, S $O_4$$^{2-}$ ion diffusion than that of OPC paste due to the densification by the formation of fine ettringite in the first stage and the hydrates according to $\beta$-C$_2$S hydration in the late period.
