Hydration is the main reason for the growth of the material properties. An exact parameter to control the chemical and physical process is not the time, but the degree of hydration. Therefore, it is reasonable that development of all material properties and the formation of microstructure should be formulated in terms of degree of hydration. Mathematical formulation of degree of hydration is based on combination of reaction rate functions. The effect of moisture conditions as well as temperature on the rate of reaction is considered in the degree of hydration model. This effect is subdivided into two contributions: water shortage and water distribution. The former is associated with the effect of W/C ratio on the progress of hydration. The water needed for progress of hydration do not exist and there is not enough space for the reaction products to form. The tatter is associated with the effect of free capillary water distribution in the pore system. Physically absorption layer does not contribute to progress of hydration and only free water is available for further hydration. In this study, the effects of chemical composition of cement, W/C ratio, temperature, and moisture conditions on the degree of hydration are considered. Parameters that can be used to indicate or approximate the real degree of hydration are liberated heat of hydration, amount of chemically bound water, and chemical shrinkage, etc. Thus, the degree of heat liberation and adiabatic temperature rise could be determined by prediction of degree of hydration.

This study was undertaken to analyze the effects of pavement thermal properties and water retention characteristics on the surface temperature of the gray permeable cement concrete pavement during the summer. Following is a summary of major results. 1) The hourly surface temperature of pavement could be well predicted with a heat transfer model program that incorporated the input data of major meteorological variables including solar radiation, atmospheric temperature, dew point, wind velocity, cloudiness and the evaporation rate of the pavements predicted by the time domain reflectometry (TDR) method. 2) When the albedo was changed to 0.5 from an arbitrary starting condition of 0.3, holding other variables constant, the peak surface temperature of the pavement dropped by 11.5%. When heat capacity was changed to $2.5\;kJm^{-3}K^{-1}\;from\;1.5\;kJm^{-3}K^{-1}$, surface temperature dropped by 8.0%. When daily evaporation was changed to 1 mm from 2 mm, temperature dropped by 5.7%. When heat conductivity was changed to $2.5\;Wm^{-1}K^{-1}\;from\;1.5\;Wm^{-1}K^{-1}$, the peak surface temperature of the pavement fell by 1.2%. The peak pavement surface temperature under the arbitrary basic condition was $24.46^{\circ}C$ (12 a.m.). 3) It accordingly became evident that the pavement surface temperature can be most effectively lowered by using materials with a high albedo, a high heat capacity or a high evaporation at the pavement surface. The glare situation, however, is intensified by raising of the albedo, moreover if reflected light is absorbed into surrounding physical masses, it is changed into heat. It accordingly became evident that raising the heat capacity and the evaporative capacity may be the moot acceptable measures to improve the thermal characteristics of the pavement. 4) The sensitivity of the surface temperature to major meteorological variables was as follows. When the daily average temperature changed to $0^{\circ}C\;from\;15^{\circ}C$, holding all other variables constant, the peak surface temperature of the pavement decreased by 56.1 %. When the global solar radiation changed to $200\;Wm^{-2}\;from\;600\;Wm^{-2}$, the temperature of the pavement decreased by 23.4%. When the wind velocity changed to $8\;ms^{-1}\;from\;4\;ms^{-1}$, the temperature decreased by 1.4%. When the cloudiness level changed to 1.0 from 0.5, the peak surface temperature decreased by 0.7%. The peak pavement surface temperature under the arbitrary basic conditions was $24.46^{\circ}C$ (12 a.m.)

As human-based tunnel inspections are affected by the subjective judgment of the inspector, making continuous history management difficult. There is a lot of deep learning-based automatic crack detection research recently. However, the large public crack datasets used in most studies differ significantly from those in tunnels. Also, additional work is required to build sophisticated crack labels in current tunnel evaluation. Therefore, we present a method to improve crack detection performance by inputting existing datasets into a deep learning model. We evaluate and compare the performance of deep learning models trained by combining existing tunnel datasets, high-quality tunnel datasets, and public crack datasets. As a result, DeepLabv3+ with Cross-Entropy loss function performed best when trained on both public datasets, patchwise classification, and oversampled tunnel datasets. In the future, we expect to contribute to establishing a plan to efficiently utilize the tunnel image acquisition system's data for deep learning model learning.

It is very important for structure designer to understand the service life variation since a wide range of service life is evaluated with changing exposure conditions and design parameters. Recently, for zero-carbon, waste plastic has been used for fuel for clinker production and this yields increase in chloride content in cement. This study is for evaluation of changing service life in the concrete with increasing initial chloride content due to usage of plastic-SRF(Solid Refuse Fuel) considering various exposure conditions and design parameters. For this, 4 levels of initial chloride content were assumed, and the service life was assessed using LIFE 365 program considering various environmental conditions including 3 levels of surface chloride content. As for analysis parameters, critical/initial chloride content, blast furnace slag powder replacement ratio, W/B(Water to Binder) ratio, cover depth, and unit mass for binder are adopted. Service life decreases with increasing initial chloride content and a significant reduction of service life is not evaluated permitting up to 1,000ppm of initial chloride content. With increasing slag replacement ratio, a longer service life can be secured since blast furnace slag powder has the effect of reducing the diffusion of external chloride ions and fixing the free chloride. It is thought that increasing initial chloride content up to European standard is helpful for enhancing sustainability and reducing carbon emission. Though the reduction in service life due to an increase in the initial chloride content is not significant in slag-concrete with low surface chloride content, careful consideration for mixing design should be paid for the exposure environment with high surface chloride content.

Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world and is the second largest traded commodity after petroleum. Due to the great demand of this product, large amounts of waste is generated in the coffee industry, which are toxic and represent serious environmental problems. This study aims to study the possibility of recycling spent coffee grounds (SCG) as a mineral admixture by replacing the cement in the manufacturing of concrete. To recycle the coffee g rounds, the SCG was dried to remove moisture and fired in a kiln at 850 ℃ for 8 hours. Carbonized coffee grounds are produced as coffee grounds ash (CGA) through ball mill grinding. The chemical composition of the prepared coffee grounds ash was investigated using X-ray fluorescence (XFR). According to the chemical composition analysis, the major elements of coffee grounds ash are K2O(51.74 %), CaO(15.92 %), P2O5(14.39 %), MgO(7.74 %) and SO3(6.89 %), with small amounts of F2O3(0.66 %), SiO2(0.59 %) and Al2O3(0.31 %) content. To evaluate quality and mechanical properties, substitutions of 5, 10, and 15 wt.% of coffee grounds ash (CGA) were tested. From the quality test results, the 28-day activity index of CGA5 reached 80 %, and the flow value ratio reached 96 %, which is comparable to the minimum requirement for second-grade FA. From the test results of the mortar, the optimal results have been found in specimens with 5 wt-% coffee grounds ash, showing good mechanical and physical properties.

The present study evaluate the chloride extracion under electrochemical chloride extraction method. Chloride was penetrated into the concrete from external reservoir using a 4M NaCl solution, and an electrochemical chloride extraction method was applied after the curing period of 1 year. The current density was constantly kept 1000 mA/m2 for coulostatic application with the variation in potential difference. The duration of the ECE treatment was 2, 4, 8 weeks, respectively. The residual chloride concentration at all depths decreased, and the chloride concentration decreased as the application period increased. After the application period of 8 weeks, 62.9 to 77.6 % of chloride extracted in the total chloride profile, and 77.7 to 99.5 % of chloride extracted in the free chloride profile. In particular, the concentration of free chloride at a depth of 7 mm or more from the concrete surface was 0.01 % or less by cement. In addition, it was confirmed that the bound chloride could be extracted by the electrochemical chloride extraction.

The duties of the restorative materials are to bear up against stress and to protect reinforcement corrosion. So the restorative materials are estimated by various kinds of strength, permeability and etc, But, in case of existing performance evaluation of restorative materials, because various deterioration factors are separately acted, the system of performance evaluation is different from that of combined deterioration of real structure and it is difficult to evaluate the exact performance of restorative materials. In this study, to evaluate Performance of restorative materials, we compare their korea standard properties in terms of compressive and bending strength and permeability of water and air with real durability for carbonation, salt damage and actual reinforcement corrosion like ratio of corrosion area. weight reduction and corrosion velocity of steel bar under environment of combined deterioration. The results showed that strength and permeability of restorative materials are similar but their resistance to carbonation, salt damage and actual reinforcement corrosion are very different.

As industry advances, the production of industrial sulfur is increasing every year. Therefore, this study intended to investigate the modified sulfur distribution and compressive strength characteristics of modified sulfur mortar based on the mixing method and curing conditions by adding modified sulfur with a melting point of approximately $65^{\circ}C$ in order to provide basic data for the application of the modified sulfur to the mortar or concrete. The results of the experiment showed that the mixture of fine aggregate and cement with water, followed by the addition of modified sulfur, would be most advantageous in terms of fluidity and strength. The results of EDS analysis also showed that the distribution of sulfur was the best. In terms of the curing conditions, the highest compressive strength was achieved through water curing and air dry curing at $20^{\circ}C$. However, it was found that the long-term strength was adversely affected by curing at over $40^{\circ}C$.

The research, in order to enhance the quality of recycled aggregate, was carried out the quality characteristics test of the recycled aggregates by applying the four kinds of surface treatment using a colloidal suspension of approximately 5nm~60nm particle size with the alkalinity of pH 10.2. The quality tests of recycled aggregate have been processed by specific gravity, water absorption, porosity, surface properties, and the compression and tensile tests. The colloidal suspension was coated effectively the surface of the old cement mortars of recycled aggregate with a constant thickness by colloidal suspension is being applied to the recycled aggregate surface under constant pressure of 100kpa and then it was dried in at $60^{\circ}C$. The surface treatment method by the Method C out of 4 kinds of surface treatment improved effectively the quality of the recycled aggregates, whereby it obtained the best compressive strength and tensile strength of the recycled aggregate concrete.
In Korea there are recently many attempts to expand a temporary soil nailing system into a permanent soil nailing system since the first construction in 1993. In the soil nailing system, the rigid facing walls act on restraining the deformation of the ground. These are purposed to minimize the damage of adjacent buildings or underground structures. In Korea, to minimize the relaxation of the ground, the soil nailing system in the downtown area is often used experientially together with braced cuts, sheet pile walls, soil cement walls (SCW), or jet grouting walls. However, for the conservative design, the confining effects by the stiff facing have been ignored because the proper design approach of considering the facing stiffness has not been proposed. In this study, various laboratory model tests are carried out to examining the influence the rigidity of facings on the global safety of soil nailing system. Also, the parametric studies using the numerical technique as shear-strength reduction technique are carried out. In the parametric study, the thickness of concrete facing walls is changed to identify the effects of the facing wall stiffness.
