The objective of this study was to improve the defects of lightweight cement concrete by treating with redispersible polymer powders. The statistical relationships of water-cement ratios, contents of lightweight aggregates and polymer powers and be used for predicting the concrete strength. It was found that the varieties and techniques adopted in this experiment were capable of identifying the influence of various tested for air contents, flow test, water absorption, specific gravity, flexural and compressive strength. This study showed that fundamental properties were very affected by cement- lightweight aggregate ratio, polymer-cement ratio and water-cement ratio.
A new antibiotic bead, CJ-40003 is a combination of three antibiotics, tobramycin, vancomycin and cefazolin embedded in bone cement, for the treatment of osteomyelitis. To evaluate the general pharmacological properties of CJ-40003, the effects of its active ingredients were investigated in mice, rats, dogs and isolated guinea pig ileum. The combination of three antibiotics (CA) did not affect general behavior, central nervous system, smooth muscles, gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular and respiratory system and water and electrolytes excretion when administered intravenously at the doses of 0.3, 1 and 3 mg/kg, respectively, into experimental animals. The CA had no effect on the contractile response of the isolated guinea pig ileum to various spasmogen at concentrations of 1, 3 and 10 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml, respectively. In conclusion, the active ingredients of CJ-40003 showed no pharmacological effect in these studies.

Reinforced concrete is a building material that is generally used in modern society. Securing the performance of reinforced concrete is directly connected to the durability and longevity of the building. One of the major factors that deteriorate the durability of concrete is harmful ion. Recently, the quality and improvement method of reinforced concrete for penetration of harmful ion has been studied. In this study, the bead type ion exchange resin is substituted for 0%, 3%, and 6% of the fine aggregate volume in the mortar. The speciments underwent underwater curing and were checked for compressive strengths of 3 days and 28 days. From the results of compressive strength, it can be seen that the higher the substitution ratio of the ion exchange resin, the lower the early strength and long-term strength development, especially the early strength development.

Candida infection of knee joint is very rare. Diagnosis of Candida infection is difficult due to lack of obvious clinical symptoms. Candida albicans is the most common strain in Candida infection of knee joint, but Candida pelliculosa has been rarely reported. We report a case of Candida pelliculosa infection of knee after intra-articular steroid injection, which was treated successfully by repeated arthroscopic debridement and irrigations and arthroscopic implantation with antifungal agent-impregnated cement bead spacer.

The normal cement concrete is widely used material to build the construction recently, but it has a fault to increase the dead load on account of its unit weight is large compared with strength. So, main purpose of this study was to establish the physical and mechanical properties of lightweight concrete using expanded polystyrene bead on fine aggregate and natural gravel, expanded clay and pumice stone on coarse aggregate. The test rusults of this study are summarized as follows; 1. The water-cement ratio of concrete using pumice stone was larger than that of the concrete using natural gravel and expanded clay. 2. The unit weights of concrete using pumice stone and expanded caly were shown less than 1,000g/$m^3$. 3. The compressive strengths of all types were shown less than 60kg/$cm^2$, tensile and bending strengths were shown less than l3kg/$cm^2$ and 3lkg/$cm^2$$^2$, respectively. 4. The pulse velocity of concrete was shown similar with using natural gravel and pumice stone, and shown the lowest using pumice stone. 5. The dynamic modulus of elasticity of concrete was shown considerably smaller, and shown the lowest using pumice stone. 6. The static modulus of elasticity of concrete using expanded clay and pumice stone were shown considerably smaller, and shown 22% ~29% as compared with the dynamic modulus of elasticity. 7. The stress-strain curves of concrete were shown similar, generally. And the curves were repeated at short intervals increase and decreased irregularly.

In this study, the engineering characteristics of outer wall insulation panels according to type of insulation materials, their combination, and the contents of insulation materials were tested. Vermiculate, ceramic bead, perlite and expanded polystyrene were used as insulation materials. Flexural strength and thermal conductivity depending on the insulation materials used were measured. It was found that the flow of fresh mortar significantly decreased with an increase in the contents of insulation materials. In terms of the effect of insulation materials on thermal conductivity, an increase in insulation materials resulted in a decrease of thermal conductivity. In particular, PL and EPS, when used together, have lower thermal conductivity than other materials. Regarding the flexural strength of the hardened mortar, the strength showed a tendency to gradually decrease according to the increase in contents of insulation materials, compared to that of the plain mortar. In terms of the flexural strength depending on various types of insulation materials and its combination, it was found that the flexural strength of cement mortar containing 3% of vermiculate(V)+ceramic bead(CB)+perlite(PL) was the highest among the specimens tested.
Quantitative analysis each portland cement components was conducted by standard calibration method using X-ray fluorescence spectrometer. Standard sample and the unknown sample were prepared by fused cast bead method. In checking the errors of standard cement 227A372 the relative errors of constituents such as CaO, SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, MgO and SrO were less than 1% and the relative errors of constituents such as So3, K2O, TiO2, Na2O P2O5, and Mn2O3 were less than 5% Sample preparation was mainly contributed to the errors. Compared with general wet chemical method the results of X-ray fluorescence analyses were more precise and accurate. Moreover it is possible to analyze precisely a little amount of the constituents such as SrO, Mn2O3 and P2O5 the analyses of which were very difficult using the wet chemical method.

Chloride ion, which penetrates into the cement composites from the outside, generally diffuses by the concentration gradient. Chloride ions are adsorbed by the chemical reaction with cement hydrates. Recent studies have shown that anion exchange resin (AER) powder can effectively adsorb the chloride ion in the cement composites, and thus, the cement composites containing AER have a high chloride adsorption capacity and a good resistance for chloride penetration. In this study, the chloride adsorption ability of the AER powder was investigated under the conditions of distilled water and calcium hydroxide saturated solution to determine if the AER powder is less effective to increase the chloride adsorption ability after grinding process. The chloride adsorption ability of AER powder was compared with the previous research about the chloride adsorption of AER bead. In addition, the compressive strength, chloride diffusion coefficient (using NT Build 492 method), and the chloride profile of cement mortar substituted with AER powder were investigated. There was no decrease in the chloride adsorption capacity of AER powder but increase in the kinetic property for chloride adsorption after the grinding process. The AER powder could absorb the chloride ion in the mortar quickly, and showed better chloride ion adsorption ability than the cement hydrates.

This study was performed to evaluate effective surface conditioning method of In-Ceram core to improve bonding with resin cement. The surface of each sample was avraded with glass bead for 20 seconds and then subjected to one of the following conditions : no modification, sandblasting with $50{\mu}m$ slumimum oxide powders for 20 seconds, etching with 20% hydrofluoric acid for 5, 10, and 15 minutes(half of the etched samples were coated with silane), and sandblasting with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide powders and silica coating whith Silicoater MD system(Kulzer, Germany). The surface morphology changes were examined with scanning electronic microscope(SEM. and the shear bond strength of In-Ceram core samples to resin cement(Panavis 21, Kurayay, Japan) were measured. It was concluded that : 1. By SEM observation, 20% HF acid etching did not create clear microretentive structure and surface roughness diminished with increace in etching time. Sandblasting was more effective than 20% hydrofluoric acid etching in producing microretentive structure. 2. The bond strengths of all In-Ceram core samples surface conditioned were increased that that of control group. 3. Silica coating showed higher bond strength than etching with 20% hydrofluoric acid. 4. The use of silane coating was more effective in improving bond strength than lengthening etching time.

Foamed concrete is a porous concrete that is cured by mixing bubbles into cement slurry. It is lighter than ordinary concrete and is characterized by higher insulation. Lightweight foamed concerte is mainly used as a sandwich panel in Korea, and is also used as a refractory filler in fireproof safes. Studies on lightwight foamed concrete have been carried out on strength, density and thermal conductivity. However, it is confirmed that the research on the fire resistance performance is very limited. Based on this study, fire resistance of lightweight foamed concrete using expanded polystyrene beads is investigated.
