The aim of research is inducing the optimum proportion of fly ash(FA) and blast furnace slag(BS) for ternary cement. In this research, hence, the fundamental properties of mortar mixtures were evaluated depending on various proportion of FA and BS. The results of the experiment, within the scope of the study, obtained the following conclusions. Flow of the mixtures was increased with addition of binary supplementary cementitious material(SCM), and especially, portion of FA. The air content of the mixtures was increased with addition of binary SCMs, while it was decreased with increased FA content. In the case of unit mass, increased value was obtained due to the increased air content within 25 to 45% of binary SCM content, while it was increased within 65 to 100% of binary SCM up to only 20% of FA content and decreased more than 20% of FA because of the low density of FA. The setting time of the mixtures was delayed with addition of binary SCM and FA. In the case of compressive strength, at 91-day age, the highest value was obtained with 25 and 45% of binary SCM with the proportion of FA to BS of 40 to 60. Therefore, based on the compressive strength, it is considered that the binary SCM content of 25 and 45% with the proportion of FA to BS of 2 : 3 is the most favorable conditions in this research scope.

This research presents the results of an investigation on the characteristic of multi-component blended high fluidity mortars. The binder was blended ordinary Portland cement(OPC), ground granulated blast furnace slag(GGBFS), calcium sulfoaluminate(CSA) and ultra rapid setting cement(URSC). The GGBFS was replaced by OPC from 30%(P7 series), 50%(P5 series) and 70%(P3 series), CSA and URSC was 10% or 20% mass. The superplasticizer of polycarboxylate type were used. A constant water-to-binder ratio(w/b)=0.35 was used for all mixtures. Test were conducted for mini slump, setting time, V-funnel, compressive strength and drying shrinkage. According to the experimental results, the contents of superplasticizer, V-funnel and compressive strength increases with an increase in CSA or URSC contents for all mixtures. Moreover, the setting time and drying shrinkage ratio decrease with and increase in CSA or URSC. CSA decreased dry shrinkage but URSC had less effect. However, the mixed binders of CSA and URSC had a large effect of reducing drying shrinkage by complementary effect. This is effective for improving the initial strength of URSC, and CSA is effective for the expansion and improvement of long-term strength.
To study the effect of incorporation of a surface crosslinking layer on a crosslinked poly (sodium acrylate) (cPSA) absorbent with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate CEGDMA), we synthesized several surface crosslinked cPSAs with EGDMA by an inverse emulsion polymerization method to delay the absorption of excess water in concrete, Liquid paraffin was used as a continuous phase. cPSA was synthesized with acrylic acid (AA) neutralized with aqueous 8 M sodium hydroxide solution as a monomer, N,N-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) as crosslinking agent and ammonium persulfate (APS) and sodium metabisulfite (SMBS) as a redox initiator system by inverse emulsion polymerization. FTIR spectroscopy was used to characterize $Ca^{2+}$ ion interaction with cPSA and cPSA-EGDMAs. The swelling ratios of synthesized absorbents were evaluated from the absorption in deionized water, cement saturated aqueous solution and aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide (pH 12). Equilibrium swelling times for cPSA and surface crosslinked cPSA with EGDMA were 2 and 3 hrs, respectively. We also observed an increase in setting time of the cement and an increase in the compressive strength of mortar by addition of the synthesized cPSA-EGDMA.

The corrosion of reinforcement is the main reason for the performance degradation of concrete structures. The pre-rusted parts of rebar in concrete structures are vulnerable to the corrosion, especially if the structure is exposed to wet or chlorinated environments. In this study, effects of different curing solution on corrosion behavior of the pre-rusted rebars in the cement composites were investigated. HCl(3%) and CaCl2(10%) solution were utilized to accelerate the pre-rust of the rebar, and each pre-rust condition rebar including reference (RE) were placed in mortar cylinder. Three kinds of samples then were cured in CaCl2 (3%) solution and tap water respectively for 120 days. Electrochemical polarization and half-cell potential measurement were used to monitor the influence of curing water on the corrosion behavior of pre-rusted steel bar in cement composite. The surface morphology and composition of corroded steel bar were analyzed by scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive X-ray diffraction. The results show that the corrosion rates of pre-rusted samples in both curing water are higher than that of non-pre-rusted samples. The corrosion rates of RE, CaCl2 and HCl pre-rusted samples in salt water were 8.14, 4.48, 13.81 times higher than those in tap water respectively, on the 120th day.
The extensive utilization of concrete has given rise to environmental concerns, specifically concerning the depletion of river sand. To address this issue, waste deposits can provide manufactured-sand (MS) as a substitute for river sand. The objective of this study is to explore the application of machine learning techniques to facilitate the production of manufactured-sand concrete (MSC) containing stone nano-powder through estimating the splitting tensile strength (STS) containing compressive strength of cement (CSC), tensile strength of cement (TSC), curing age (CA), maximum size of the crushed stone (Dmax), stone nano-powder content (SNC), fineness modulus of sand (FMS), water to cement ratio (W/C), sand ratio (SR), and slump (S). To achieve this goal, a total of 310 data points, encompassing nine influential factors affecting the mechanical properties of MSC, are collected through laboratory tests. Subsequently, the gathered dataset is divided into two subsets, one for training and the other for testing; comprising 90% (280 samples) and 10% (30 samples) of the total data, respectively. By employing the generated dataset, novel models were developed for evaluating the STS of MSC in relation to the nine input features. The analysis results revealed significant correlations between the CSC and the curing age CA with STS. Moreover, when delving into sensitivity analysis using an empirical model, it becomes apparent that parameters such as the FMS and the W/C exert minimal influence on the STS. We employed various loss functions to gauge the effectiveness and precision of our methodologies. Impressively, the outcomes of our devised models exhibited commendable accuracy and reliability, with all models displaying an R-squared value surpassing 0.75 and loss function values approaching insignificance. To further refine the estimation of STS for engineering endeavors, we also developed a user-friendly graphical interface for our machine learning models. These proposed models present a practical alternative to laborious, expensive, and complex laboratory techniques, thereby simplifying the production of mortar specimens.
This study was the contrast of the compressive strength, the tensile strength, the reducing ratio and the flow of mortar using dispersing agent and high fluid admix. 1. The admix ratio of chemical admixtures espressing maximum strength appeared the same result high fluid admix SP was 0.6%, the dispersing agents LG and C211 were 0.2%, SK was 0.3%, C376 was 0.5%. But two or three times more than standard quantity made the strength's fast lowness, which influenced bad to wateriness and retard the soli-dification. 2. When proper quantity of chemical admixture was used, the increment of compressive strength was as follows. High fluid admix SP was 40.7% and the average increasing rate of dispersing agents(C211 was 19.5%, LG was 19.1%, C376 was 17.9%) was 18.7% more than normal mortar in the codition of 7 days. Also, in the condition of 28 days, high fluid admix SP was about 24.4% and the average of dispersing agents(LG was 21.1%, C211 was 16.4%, SK was 11.1%, C376 was 7.6%) was 14.1%. 3. When proper quantity of chemical admixture was used, the increment of tensile strength was as follows. High fluid admixture SP was 26.6% and the average increasing agents(SK was 16.0%, C376 was 14.7%, LG was 10%, C211 was 5.8%) was 11.6%. Also, in the condition of 28 days, high fluid admix SP was 16.5% and the average increasing rate of dispersing agents(LG was 19.1%, SK was 10.6%, C211 was 10.1%, C376 was 8.7%) was 12.1%. 4. As for the reducing ratio of each dispersing agent, he flow of mortar was less than the slump of concrete. That is; the reducing ratio of concrete was 15% adding each dispersing agent, but the reducing ratio of mortar was in the range of from 5.8% to 13.5% in 1 : 1 mixture, from 7.6% to 14.2% in 1 : 2, from 9.5% to 18.8% in 1 : 3. 5. The fluidity of each chemical admixture was as follows. High fluid admix SP in the condition of 1: 1 and 1 : 2 showed the best result than other dispersing agent and 1 : 3 showed the same result like other agents. Therefore these good dispersing agents were suitable in the prepact concrete construction using intrusion mortar.

Steel industry produces many by-products and wastes such as blast furnace slag, electric arc furnace slag, and converter slag. As in the case of rock, the main component of steel slag are CaO and $SiO_2$ ; further, steel slag is as alkaline as portland cement or concrete. Electric arc furnace oxidizing slag is possible to use as an aggregate for concrete ; however, it has been reclaimed because of it's expansibility caused by free CaO. Recently, a innovative rapid cooling method for melting steel slag has been developed in Korea, which reduces free lime content to minimum level and increases the stability of iron oxide. Therefore, this study describes the results of a series of research to utilize globular shape of electric arc furnace oxidizing slag fine aggregates made by rapidly cooled method for the construction industry by cooling rapidly melted slag from the steel industry. First of all, an experiment was carried out to investigate the quality characteristics of rapidly cooled electric arc furnace oxidizing slag fine aggregates in order to determine whether they can be applied to the construction industry. Then, by applying them to concrete of various particle sizes, we explored experimentally the desired condition to apply rapidly cooled electric arc furnace oxidizing slag fine aggregates to concrete.

Recently the world wide efforts reduce occurrence of $CO_2$; global warming main reason. The aim of this study is to improve recycling rate of the fly ash (FA) and fused waste slag (FWS) from the power plant and to carbonate under supercritical condition ($40^{\circ}C$, $80kgf/cm^2$ pressure, 60 min) for $CO_2$ fixation. Specimens of mortar with various mixing ratios of FA, FWS (from 100:0 to 20:80 in 5 steps of 20 % reduction each time), distilled water and 3 M NaOH alkali activators were prepared. As a result, the proportion of weight change ratio increases with CaO content, to 12 % after carbonation under the supercritical condition. There is difference of compressive strength between the carbonated and the alkali activator mortar specimens. The stabilization of $CO_2$ fixation through carbonation which could confirm the applicability of the eco-friendly materials without loss of compressive strength.

Surface of exposed aggregate concrete pavements is consists of exposed coarse aggregate by removing upper 2$\sim$3mm mortar of concrete slab. Exposed aggregate concrete pavements have advantages of maintaining low-noise and adequate skid-resistance level during the performance period. In order to provide the successful exposed concrete aggregate pavement, uniform distribution of the coarse aggregate on pavement surface through adequate the mix design and exposing method. The mix design in concrete pavement is generally designed on the basis of strength, but mix design of exposed aggregate pavement employed in this study includes the consideration of noise and skid resistance, as well as strength. Smaller of maximum coarse aggregate is known to be effective for reduce noise level. Optimum mix design and exposing method of fine-size exposed aggregate portland cement concrete pavement that can reducing the noise and maintain the adequate level of skid resistance are proposed in this study. To consider the variation of optimum exposing time due to the hardening speed of mortar by climatic condition, quantitative is also suggested measurement of hardening state.

This study is conducted to utilize waste concrete powder made as a by-product manufacturing high quality recycled aggregate. The blaine fineness of the used waste concrete powder was 928 and $1,360cm^2/g$. As the main characteristic of waste concrete powder, it showed an angular type similar to cement, but hydrated products were attached on the surface of particles. In addition, the size of the particles of waste concrete powder was larger than OPC and in terms of chemical components it had higher $SiO_2$ contents. The viscosity of the paste that mixed waste concrete power decreased by 62% at the most, compared to the paste that only used OPC, and the final set time was delayed about two hours. As composition rates of waste concrete powder increased, the flow value decreased by 30% at the most according to the comparison with mortar that only used OPC, and sorptivity coefficients increased by 70%. The compressive strength of mortar decreased by 73% at the most as composition rates of waste concrete powder increased. According to the test results, it is desirable to use waste concrete powder by combining OPC appropriately(below 15%).
