  • Approximately 200 individual skeletal elements, which differ in shape and size, are the building blocks of the vertebrate skeleton. Various features of the individual skeletal elements, such as their location, shape, growth and differentiation rate, are being determined during embryonic development. A few skeletal elements, such as the lateral halves of the clavicle and parts of the skull are formed by a process called intramembranous ossification, whereby mesenchymal cells differentiate directly into osteoblasts, while the majority of skeletal elements are formed via endochondral ossification. The latter process starts with the formation of a cartilaginous template, which eventually is being replaced by bone. This requires co-regulation of differentiation of the cell-types specific for cartilage and bone, chondrocytes and osteoblasts, respectively. In recent years it has been demonstrated that Wnt family members and their respective intracellular pathways, such as non-canonical and the canonical $Wnt/{\beta}$-catenin pathway, play important and diverse roles during different steps of vertebrate skeletal development. Based on the recent discoveries modulation of the canonical Wnt-signaling pathway could be an interesting approach to direct stem cells into certain skeletal lineages.

  • We propose IC-IPDL method, in order to improve hearability which is the fundamental problem of cellular-based location systems. The proposed method improves hearability by using interference cancellation technique for CPICH and modified-IPDL method for other downlink channels. The simulation results showed that IC-IPDL method has a similar performance of the case using standard IPDL method though CPICH exists during idle period.

  • As the use of vehicle route application and LBS(location based service) are fast grew, the importance of maintaining road network data is also increased. To maintain road data accuracy, we can collect road data by driving real roads with probe vehicle, or using digital image processing for the extraction of roads from aerial imagery. After compare the new road data to current database, we can update the road database, but that job is mostly time and money consuming or can be inaccurate. In this paper, an updating method of using GPS(global positioning system) enabled cell phone is proposed. By using GPS phone, we can update road database easily and sufficiently accurately.

  • This paper presents a system design which allows monitoring and control of office electrical equipments and devices using senor network through the use of 3G network. The system uses SMS and Email protocols by smart phones to pass information and can be utilized in many scenarios and variety of parameters in which monitoring is desired. The combination of sensors, algorithms and web service are used to generate useful information efficiently and at low cost for the user connected to internet. The information passed is independent of the location of the office users and therefore effective information transfer is achieved from which users can monitor and perform necessary actions to the situations back in the office.

  • During meiosis, homologous chromosomes (homologs) pair and undergo genetic recombination via assembly and disassembly of the synaptonemal complex. Meiotic recombination is initiated by excess formation of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), among which a subset are repaired by reciprocal genetic exchange, called crossovers (COs). COs generate genetic variations across generations, profoundly affecting genetic diversity and breeding. At least one CO between homologs is essential for the first meiotic chromosome segregation, but generally only one and fewer than three inter-homolog COs occur in plants. CO frequency and distribution are biased along chromosomes, suppressed in centromeres, and controlled by pro-CO, anti-CO, and epigenetic factors. Accurate and high-throughput detection of COs is important for our understanding of CO formation and chromosome behavior. Here, we review advanced approaches that enable precise measurement of the location, frequency, and genomic landscapes of COs in plants, with a focus on Arabidopsis thaliana.

  • In mobile cellular network the ever-changing location of a mobile host necessitates the continuous tracking of its current position and efficient management of location information. A database called Home Location Register(HLR) plays a major role in location management in this distributed environment, providing table management, index management, and backup management facilities. The objectives of this paper are to identify the p개blems of the current HLR system through rigorous analysis, to suggest solutions to them, and to propose a new architecture for the HLR system. In the HLR system, a main memory database system is used to provide real-time accesses and updates of subscriber's information. Thus it is suggested that the improvement bemade to support better real-time facilities, to manage subscriber's information more reliably, and to accommodate more subscribers. In this paper, I propose an efficient backup method that takes into account the characteristics of HLR database transactions. The retrieval speed and the memory usage of the two-level index method are better than those of the T-tree index method. Insertion md deletion overhead of the chained bucket hashing method is less than that of modified linear hashing method. In the proposed backup method, I use two kinds of dirty flags in order to solve the performance degradation problem caused by frequent registration-location operations. Performance analysis has been performed to evaluate the proposed techniques based on a system with subscribers. The results show that, in comparison with the current techniques, the memory requirement is reduced by more than 62%,directory operations, and backup operation by more than 80%.

  • Various full-scale radio location systems have been developed since ground-based radio navigation systems appeared during World War II, and more recently global positioning systems (GPS) have been widely used as a representative location system. In addition, radio location systems based on cellular systems are intensively being studied as cellular services become more and more popular. However, these studies have been focused mainly on macrocellular systems of which based stations are mutually synchronized. There has been no study about systems of which based stations are asynchronous. In this paper, we proposed two radio location algorithms in microcellular CDMA systems of which base stations are asychronous. The one is to estimate the position of a personal station at the center of rectangular shaped area which approximates the realistic common area. The other, as a method based on road map, is to first find candidate positions, the centers of roads pseudo-range-distant from the base station which the personal station belongs to and then is to estimate the position by monitoring the pilot signal strengths of neighboring base stations. We compare these two algorithms with three wide-spread algorithms through computer simulations and investigate interference effect on measuring pseudo ranges. The proposed algorithms require no recursive calculations and yield smaller position error than the existing algorithms because of less affection of non-line-of-signt propagation in microcellular environments.

  • As recent reports suggest that nanoparticles may penetrate into cell membrane and effect DNA condition, it is necessary to assay possible cytotoxic and genotoxic risk. Three different sizes of magnetic nanoparticle silica (MNP@$SiO_2$) (50, 100 and 200 nm diameter) were tested for cytotoxicity and DNA damage using L5178Y cell. MNP@$SiO_2$ had constant physicochemical characteristics confirmed by transmission electron microscope, electron spin resonance spectrometer and inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometer for 48 h. Treatment of MNP@$SiO_2$ induced dose and time dependent cytotoxicity. At 6 h, 50, 100 or 200 nm MNP@$SiO_2$ decreased significantly cell viability over the concentration of 125 ${\mu}g/ml$ compared to vehicle control (p<0.05 or p<0.01). Moreover, at 24 h, 50 or 100 nm MNP@$SiO_2$ decreased significantly cell viability over the concentration of 125 ${\mu}g/ml$(p<0.01). And treatment of 200 nm MNP@$SiO_2$ decreased significantly cell viability at the concentration of 62.5 ${\mu}g/ml$ (p<0.05) and of 125, 250, 500 ${\mu}g/ml$ (p<0.01, respectively). Furthermore, at 48 h, 50, 100 or 200 nm MNP@$SiO_2$ decreased significantly cell viability at the concentration of 62.5 ${\mu}g/ml$ (p<0.05) and of 125, 250, 500 ${\mu}g/ml$ (p<0.01, respectively). Cellular location detected by confocal microscope represented they were existed in cytoplasm, mainly around cell membrane at 2 h after treatment of MNP@$SiO_2$. Treatment of 50 nm MNP@$SiO_2$ significantly increased DNA damage at middle and high dose (p<0.01), and treatment of 100 nm or 200 nm significantly increased DNA damage in all dose compared to control (p<0.01). Taken together, treatment of MNP@$SiO_2$ induced cytotoxicity and enhanced DNA damage in L5178Y cell.

  • Introduction. The human cutaneous scars manifest themselves many ways in different types according to the factors such as the age, sex, race of the patient as well as the location,. kind and heal ing process of the wound. Among the scars it is quiet difficult to verify the clinical course of the hypertrophic or keloidal scars from the true keloids. However, clinical observations indicate that stress, either mechanical or in the forms of chronic infections, can induce a functional change in the fibroblasts causing an excessive production of collagenous matrix. In this study, we preliminary attempt to justify any difference of the cellular structure between keloids and hypertrophic scars by using electron microscope. Material and Methods. A total of 23 cases: 2 scars, 2 hypertrophic scars and 19 keloids are examined. Immediately, the biopsy tissue was fixed in 10% neutral formalin and 4% glutaraldehyde solution in phosphate buffer for 4 hours, post fixed in 1 % osmium tetraoxide for two hours, dehydrated with graded alcohol, and embedded in Epon 812. Thick sections were stained with hematoxylin eosin, periodic acid-Schiff(PAS) and Van Gieson stain. Thin sections were cut and uranyle acetate, lead citratestain and examined with the electron microscope. Result. The morphologic features of keloid showed thick, homogenously eosinophilic bands of collagen and numberous large active fibroblasts. The hypertrophic scar and soft scar are more cellular than keloid and composed thinner collagenous fiber. For this paper in the etiology of keloids can not as be defined, but and interesting keloidal tissue fibroblast showed irregular nucleus with irregular shape dense bodies and fibril materials contained in to the cytoplasm.
