비정질 SeGe 박막의 PL 특성과 광흑화 효과에 관한 연구 (The Photoluminescence(PL) Spectroscopy and the Photo-Darkening(PD) Effect of the Amorphous SeGe Thin Films)

  • In this study, we have investigated photo-induced changes of optical energy gap( $E_{OP)}$ and photoluminescence (PL) in amorphous ($\alpha$-) S $e_{100-x}$G $e_{x}$ (x=5, 25 and 33) thin films prepared by conventional thermal evaporation method. In the $\alpha$-S $e_{100-x}$G $e_{x}$ thin film, the $E_{OP}$ is obtained by a linear extrapolation of the ($\alpha$hν)$^{\frac{1}{2}}$ versus hν plot to the energy axis using the optical absorption coefficient ($\alpha$) calculated from the extinction coefficient k measured in the wavelength range of 290~900nm. Although the values of $\Delta$ $E_{OP}$ are very different, all films exhibit photo-induced photo-darkening (PD) effect that is a red shift of $E_{OP}$ . In particular, $\Delta$ $E_{OP}$ in $\alpha$-S $e_{75}$ G $e_{25}$ thin film exhibits the largest value (i, e., $\Delta$ $E^{OP}$ ~40meV for $\alpha$-S $e_{95}$ G $e_{5}$ , $\Delta$ $E_{OP}$ ~200meV for $\alpha$-S $e_{75}$ G $e_{25}$ , $\Delta$ $E_{OP}$ ~130meV for $\alpha$-S $e_{67}$ G $e_{33}$ ). PL spectra in $\alpha$-SeGe by hν$_{HeCd}$ have no-Stokes shift (SS) and show a tendency dependent on both composition and illumination time. We explain the energy-induced phenomena such as the PD and thermal bleaching, the native charged-defect generation and the no-SS PL, etc..the PD and thermal bleaching, the native charged-defect generation and the no-SS PL, etc..tc..

125cc급 모터사이클용 머플러 내부 유동특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Flow Characteristics in Muffler for 125cc Grade Motorcycle)

  • This study represents numerical study on the thermal and fluid flow characteristics of exhaust gas in a motorcycle muffler. The engine generates 125cc of displacement. Numerical analysis with computational fluid dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate the exhaust gas that flow into a motorcycle muffler. The STAR-CD S/W used to analyze three dimensional steady state and transient in a muffler. The Navier-Stokes Equation is solved with SAMPLE and PISO method in cartesian coordinates system. As the numerical result, it could be confirmed pulsating pressure generated from inlet of muffler become closer to the atmospheric pressure through baffle. Also the numerical result was almost identical to experimental result and, through the comparison, the reliability of numerical result was confirmed.

STS430 기판을 이용한 Flexible CIGS 박막 태양전지 제조 (Fabrication of Flexible CIGS thin film solar cells using STS430 substrate)

  • Flexible CIGS thin film solar cell was fabricated using STS430 plate as a flexible substrate in this work. A diffusion barrier layer of $SiO_2$ thin film was deposited on STS430 substrate by PECVD followed by deposition of double layered Mo back contact. After depositing CIGS absorber layer by co-evaporation, CdS buffer layer by chemical bath deposition, ZnO window layer by RF sputtering and Al electrode by thermal evaporation, the solar cell fabrication processes were completed and its performance was evaluated. Corresponding solar cell showed an conversion efficiency of 8.35 % with $V_{OC}$ of 0.52 V, $J_{SC}$ of 26.06 mA/$cm^2$ and FF of 0.61.

Down-Conversion Effect Applied to GaAs p-i-n Single Junction Solar Cell

  • With the growing need of more effective energy harvesting, solar energy has been sought as one of the prominent candidates among the eco-friendly methods. Although many types of solar cells have been developed, the electronic conversion efficiency is limited by the material's physical properties: solar cells can only harvest solar energy from limited range in solar energy spectrum. To overcome this physical limit, we approached by using the down conversion effect, transforming the high energy photons to low energy photons, to the range the designated solar cell can convert to electronic energy. In our study, we have fabricated GaAs single junction solar cells and applied CdSe quantum dots for down-conversion. We examine the effects of such application on the solar cell efficiancy, fill-factor, JSC, VOC, etc.

Comparison of Trace Element, Metal, and Metalloid Contents in North and South Korean Plants

  • When relations improve between North and South Korea, there will be demand for North Korean edible plants because of the low labor cost and similar environmental conditions. However, there is no reliable information about trace elements, metals, and metalloids in edible plants from North Korea. Selenium (Se) and germanium (Ge) have positive effects on basic human health and are therapeutical in diverse illnesses. Metal and metalloid (Cd, Pb) poisoning, on the other hand, can cause many health problems. Plants collected from North Korea had higher selenium content than those from South Korea. Although none of the collected species exceeded the permissible levels of cadmium and lead, their content in plants was significantly higher in North Korea than in South Korea. The high metal contents in plants collected from North Korea may be associated with the soil physicochemical properties as well as the accumulated amounts of elements in the soil.

  • This study is analysis on the heat transfer of exhaust gas into the muffler at passenger Car. Numerical analysis with Computational fluid Dynamics(CFD) was carried out to investigate exhaust gas flow. The STAR-CD S/W used for the three dimensional steady state CFD analysis in a muffler. The Navier-Stokes Equation is solved with the SIMPLE method in a general cartesian coordinates system. Result of numerical simulation; Inlet and outlet temperature shown about ${\Delta}T=239K$, 216K, 202K at in the muffler. Heat transfer was progressed quickly by atmospheric temperature of muffler external at in the near wall.

세슘납할로겐화물 페로브스카이트 기반 LED 기술개발 동향 (Technology Development Trends of Cesium Lead Halide Based Light Emitting Diodes)

  • Recently perovskite materials with much cheaper cost and marvellous optoelectronic properties have been studied for next generation LED display devices overseas. Technology development trends of inorganic $CsPbX_3$(X=halogen) based LEDs (PeLEDs) with assumed high stability were investigated on literature worldwide. It was found that syntheses methods of these nanocrystals (NCs, mainly quantum dots, QDs) made great progress. A new room temperature synthesis method showed outstanding PL (photoluminescence) properties such as high quantum yield (QY), narrow emission width, storage stability comparable with, or often exceeding those of conventional hot injection method and CdSe@ZnS type inorganic colloidal QDs. PeLEDs with shell layers might be more promising, indicating urgent real research start of this solution processing technology for small businesses in Korea.

Electrical Characterization of Cu(InxGa1-x)(SySe2-y) Thin Film Solar Cells

  • Among numerous material candidates, Cu(InxGa1-x)(SySe2-y) (CIGS) thin films have emerged as promising material candidates for thin film solar cell applications due to the high energy conversion efficiency and relatively low fabrication cost. The CIGS thin film solar cells consist of several materials, including Mo back contacts, ZnO-based window layers, and CdS buffer layers. All these materials have different crystal structures and contain quite distinct chemical elements, and hence the device characterization requires careful analyses. Most of all, identification of the major trap states resulting in the carrier recombination processes is a key step toward realization of high efficiency CIGS solar cells. We have carried out electrical investigations of CIGS thin film solar cells to specify the major trap states and their roles in photovoltaic performance. In particular, we have used the temperature-dependent transport characterizations and admittance spectroscopy. In this presentation, we will introduce some exemplary studies of DC and AC electrical characteristics of the CIGS solar cells.

$MgF_2$ AR Coating 두께에 따른 CIGS Cell Performance 변화

  • $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$(CIGS) 박막 태양전지는 Chalcopyrite계 박막 태양전지로 Cu, In, Ga, Se 각 원소의 조성을 적절히 조절하여 박막을 성장시킨다. 성장시킨 CIGS 박막은 광흡수계수가 105cm-1로 다른 물질 보다 뛰어나고 직접 천이형 반도체로서 얇은 두께로도 고효율의 박막 제작이 가능하다. 얇은 두께로도 충분히 빛의 흡수가 가능하지만, cell 표면 반사에 의한 광 손실은 cell 효율을 떨어뜨리게 된다. 본 연구에서는 CIGS 박막 태양전지의 광 흡수 향상을 위해 굴절률이 1.86인 ITO 위에 ITO보다 굴절률이 작은 $MgF_2$ (n=1.377) [1]를 80, 100, 120, 140 nm로 증착하여 $MgF_2$/Al/Ni/ITO/i-ZnO/CdS/CIGS/Mo/SLG 시료를 제작하고, optical reflectance, Quantum Efficiency를 이용하여 분석하였다. optical reflectance 분석 결과, $MgF_2$ AR coating을 한 경우, 두께가 두꺼워짐에 따라 광 반사도가 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 또한 AR coating 두께가 커짐에 따라 fluctuation이 점점 커지며, 파형이 장파장 쪽으로 shift하는 것을 관찰 할 수 있었다. Quantum efficiency (QE)를 분석한 결과 $MgF_2$ AR coating 할 경우, 측정된 대부분의 파장에서 QE가 향상되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 하지만 AR coating 두께에 따른 변화는 뚜렷한 차이를 보이지 않았다. AR coating 결과, JSC가 증가하여 efficiency가 향상되는 것을 확인 할 수 있다. 그러나 $MgF_2$ AR coating 80~140 nm 범위에서 cell 효율 변화의 뚜렷한 차이는 관찰할 수 없었다.
