Cronobacter spp. (formerly Enterobacter sakazakii), a Gram-negative bacillus, is a rare cause of meningitis and central nervous system infections. In England, the first case infected by this organism occurred in 1958. By July 2008, approximately 120 documented cases of Cronobacter spp. infection and at least 27 deaths have been identified from all around the world in the published literature and in reports submitted by public health sectors. In 2007, it was proposed by European organizations that the original taxonomy of E. sakazakii would be revised, to consist of five new species moved to a new genus, and identified as "Cronobacter". E. sakazakii has thus now been reclassified as 6 separate species in the new genus, Cronobacter, gen. nov., within the Enterobacteriaceae family. The new species are presently Cronobacter sakazakii, C. turicensis, C. malonaticus, C. muytjensii, and C. dublinensis; the sixth species is identified simply as genomospecies I, as currently including only two representative strains. The objectives of this review are to provide insight on (1) the classification and taxonomy of Cronobacter spp., (2) its clinical etiology and pathogenicity, (3) prequency of Cronobacter spp. in different categories of ready-to-eat food other than infant formula, (4) methods for detecting, isolating and typing Cronobacter spp., and (5) recent research trends for detecting Cronobacter spp.

Civil appeals under constructions cause a lot of difficulties of doing construction because of compensations, interruption of works, administrative punishments, etc. So this research focused on the characteristics of civil complaints against constructions by analyzing the causes of civil appeals and treatment conditions classified by year, geography, and breaking time. This research indicates three points. (l) As the level of civil life and consciousness is increased, the number of civil appeals against constructions are tending upwards in view of the results so far achieved by year. (2) Analysis about civil appeals classified by geography shows that the rate of civil affairs in Gang-nam District are higher than that of others.(3) 96% of the civil appeals by breaking time are occurred under the constructions. By predicting and treating of what type of civil appeals are occurred, this research can be used as data which make damage minimized.
Purpose: The dog bite injury is expected to increase as westernizing lifestyle and the number of pet raisers increase. The bite injuries may cause serious sequelae. The purpose of this study is to contributes to establish a suitable management and treatment principle for domestic situation with a clinical analysis data of the dog bite injuries. Methods: We reviewed the hospital records of 76 patients with dog bite injuries who were treated in the emergency unit or out patient department of our hospital from January 2000 to May 2006. Results: The majority of patients were children less than 10 years of age, 21 case(27.6%). Injuries occurred most often in May and 14 patients(18.4%) were bitten by the kinds of Cockerspaniel. By Lackmann's classification, 36 patients(47.4%) had Stage I injuries, 27 patients (35.5%) Stage II, 11 patients(14.5%) Stage III and 2 patients(2.6%) Stage IVa. The most frequent injury site was the head and neck area with 55 cases(72.4%). Also, 58 cases(76.3%) were received the initial treatment within 30 minutes after being bitten and the most of case except emergency operation repaired within 3 days. Conclusion: The dog bite injuries increased by more than 20% every year over the study period and it says that it may continue to increase more in the future. However, There are little report or literature for suitable management and treatment principle for domestic situation. The authors think this clinical analysis data and treatment experience can be useful for establishing a suitable treatment principle for domestic situation.
The clinical study was carried out the 33 patients with insomnia who were treated in Daejeon University Oriental Hospital from 17 March 1997 to 12 May 2001. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The ratio of male and female was 10:23 and sleep initiation insomnia and sleep maintenance insomnia were the highest frequence(97%), the beginning of insomnia was frequent at 30s(27.3%). 2. Living accident by mental attack was the most inducing factor and many patients came to our hospital by way of west-neuropsychiatry(55.6%). 3. In admission period most of the patients were within 15 days(78.8%) and Liver-Qi- depression was the main cause and in classification of Four Human coporeal constitution the number of patients Sho-Eum-In(少陰人) was remarked mostly and in distribution of the prescription drugs of growing heart and warming gall bladder such as GUIBIONDAMTANG(歸脾溫膽湯) and ONDAMTANGGAMI (溫膽湯加味) were many, 4. Relatively most patients were well treated(69.7%) and insomnia was mainly caused by Anxiety Disorder and Depression and Hwabyoung and in the age distribution the highest frequence was 30s but we know insomnia appeared at all ages. 5. In distribution of the period of the clinical history was various and within 15 days were all improved and the treatments group of drug and acupuncture and aid treatments etc. and hypnotics was more improved than not used hypnotics treatments group but using hypnotics was temporal. The aerial photos need in a simple object such as cartography and ground cover classification and also in a social objects such as the city plan, environment, disaster, transportation etc. However, the shadow, which includes when taking the aerial photos, makes a trouble to interpret the ground information, and also users, who need the photos in their field tasks, have a restriction. Generally the shadow occurs by the building and surface topography, and the detail cause is by changing of the illumination in an area. For removing the shadow this study uses the single image and processes the image without the source of image and taking situation. Also, applying the entropy minimization method it generates the 1-D gray-scale invariant image for creating the shadow edge mask and using the Canny edge detection creates the shadow edge mask, and finally by filtering in Fourier frequency domain creates the intrinsic image which recovers the 3-D color information and removes the shadow.
Increase of greenhouse gas due to $CO_2$ and CH$_4$ gases would cause the global warming in the atmosphere. According to the global circulation model, it is pointed out in the Okhotsk Sea that the large increase of atmospheric temperature might be occurredin this region by global warming due to the doubling of greenhouse effectgases. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the sea ice extents in the Okhotsk Sea. To improve the sea ice extents and concentration with more highly accuracy, the field experiments have begun to comparewith Airborne Microwave Radiometer (AMR) and video images installed on the aircraft (Beach-200). The sea ice concentration is generally proportional to the brightness temperature and accurate retrieval of sea ice concentration from the brightness temperature is important because of the sensitivity of multi-channel data with the amount of open water in the sea ice pack. During the field experiments of airborned AMR the multi-frequency data suggest that the sea ice concentration is slightly dependending on the sea ice types since the brightness temperature is different between the thin and small piece of sea ice floes, and a large ice flow with different surface signatures. On the basis of classification of two sea ice types, it is cleary distinguished between the thin ice and the large ice floe in the scatter plot of 36.5 and 89.0GHz, but it does not become to make clear of the scatter plot of 18.7 and 36.5GHz Two algorithms that have been used for deriving sea ice concentrations from airbomed multi-channel data are compared. One is the NASA Team Algorithm and the other is the Bootstrap Algorithm. Intrercomparison on both algorithms with the airborned data and sea ice concentration derived from video images bas shown that the Bootstrap Algorithm is more consistent with the binary maps of video images.
Total 145 cases mitral vlave replacement were performed in Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery in Chungnam National University Hospital during the period from May 1983 to July 1991. Sixty-one patients were male and 84 patients were female and the range of age was from 12 to 66 years old with the mean of 37.9[$\pm$11.6] years. Valvular lesions were 49 cases of mitral stenosis, 18 cases of regurgitation and 78 cases of combined lesion. Used valve were Ionescu-Shiley[42 cases], Bjork-Shiley[49 cases], Inact[6 cases], St. Jude Medical[11 cases] and CarboMedics[37 cases]. Mean size of valve was 29.8$\pm$1.68mm. Early morality was 13.8%[20 cases] and low output syndrome was most common cause[9 cases]. Age, functional classification and biventricular hypertrophy were risk factors. All survived cases were followed up without missing. Mean follow up period were 3 years and 3 months. Total 14 cases of death[9.7%] were observed and heart failure, unexplained sudden death and bleeding were the causes in that order. Common late complications were heart failure and bleeding related with anticoagulation. Actuarial survival rate at 5 years was 83$\pm$5.4% in overall, 78$\pm$7.2% in tissue valve group, 87$\pm$6.8% in mechanical valve group. The actuarial freedom rate from thromboembolism at 7 years was 89$\pm$8.3% in overall, 86$\pm$9.9% in tissue valve group and 97$\pm$1.9% in mechanical valve group. Actuarial freedom rate from bleeding at 5 years with anticoagulation was 88.9$\pm$4.2% in overall, 96$\pm$3.9% in tissue valve group, 86$\pm$4.6% in mechanical valve group. Reoperation was done in 3 cases with heart failure with tricuspid regurgitation and thromboembolism in 2 cases. The functional status of survived cases was I or II.
In recent years, 2D-to-3D conversion techniques have gained much attraction. Most of conventional methods focused on natural images such as movie, animation and so forth. However, it is difficult to apply these techniques to window images mixed with text, image, logo, and icon. Also, different depth values of text pixels will cause distortion and a proper 3D image can not be delivered in some situations. To solve this problem, we propose a method to classify a given image into either a window or a natural image. For the window image, only rectangular image regions (RIR) are detected and converted in 3D. Other text and background are displayed in 2D. The proposed method was performed on more than 10,000 test images. In the experimental results, the detection ratio of window image reaches 97% and RIR detection ratio is 87%.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical differences between open reduction and plate fixation via a deltopectoral approach with allogenous fibular bone graft and a minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO), in Neer's classification two-, threepart proximal humeral fractures. Methods: In this retrospective study, 77 patients with two-, three-part proximal humeral fractures were treated at two different institutions. Clinical and radiological evaluations were performed in 39 patients, who underwent MIPO at one institution (group A), and 38 patients, who underwent a deltopectoral approach with allo-fibular bone graft (group B) at another institution. The results between the groups were compared. Results: The MIPO technique was significantly less time consuming and caused less bleeding than the deltopectoral approach with allo-fibular bone graft (P<0.05). The duration of the fracture union was significantly reduced in group A (14.5±3.4; range, 10-22 weeks) compared to group B (16.4±4.3; range, 12-28) weeks (P<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups when evaluating the visual analog scale and Constant scores between the two groups, 1 year postoperatively. In radiological evaluation, there was no difference in radiological outcomes between the two groups. There were no statistically significant differences in malunion between the two groups. Conclusions: The MIPO technique and deltopectoral approach with allo-fibular bone graft for two-, three-part proximal humeral fractures, show similar clinical and radiological results. However, allogenous fibular grafts require longer surgery, cause more bleeding, and result in longer fracture healing time than MIPO technique.
Vibrio harveyi was a significant pathogenic agent and cause a high mortality of cultured fish and shrimp in the aquaculture industry. In this study, we have investigated biochemical, physiological, serological and immunological characteristics of V. harveyi isolated from marine cultured fish. The phenotypes of V. harveyi were differentiated with their own biochemical characteristics and colors of colony on the TCBS agar. V. harveyi were classified into more than four serogroups by agglutination test. Most isolates were classified into a group A which is categorized with the same band pattern generated by western blotting. Group A was characterized by a major protein, which is ranged from 26 and 34 kDa in size, and has a virulence to oliver flounder more than reference strain KCCM40866. Oliver flounders vaccined with FKC of V. harveyi C05011 were highly resistant to infection by other strains of group A.
