  • This study attempts to perform the statistical test for the causality between the Korean and the U.S. business conditions in association with the lead-lag relationship between the domestic stock price and the business condition. Their causal relationships are clearly identified after the outbreak of the IMF financial crisis. The vector autoregression for the corresponding period appears to reflect the strong interrelationships between the market variables and the dependency of the domestic business conditions on the U.S. market. The estimation results validate the leading effect of the stock price and the U.S. business behavior.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop and validate an instructional design model from the perspective of the knowledge creation. To serve the purpose, the researcher conducted 1) literature review to find causal relationship model among knowledge creation factors and to propose a hypothetical instructional design model, 2) data analysis with 50 senior level e-Learning instructional designers, and 3) testing the fitness of the proposed model and relevant causal-relational hypotheses. Results indicate; 1) the proposed model fit to the empirical evidence, 2) 6 hypotheses among 11 were validated. A typical instructional designer's personal competency was evidenced as the most powerful independent variable that predicted knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing, and the application of the instructional models. However, the expected effect of instructional design models toward other dependent variable was not be found. In addition, further suggestions for the future research are addressed.

  • This study investigated causal relations between mother's parenting, self-efficacy, perceived social support, stress, and parenting behaviors, Child's temperament, and the mediational role of mother's parenting self-efficacy. Participants were 404 Korean children and their mothers living in Seoul, Korea. Results showed that mother's parenting self-efficacy was positively related to mother's Warmth-Acceptance, social support, and child's temperament. On the other hand, mother's parenting self-efficacy was negatively related to. mother's Rejection-Restriction, mother's Permissiveness-Nonintervention, and mother's stress. Structural equation modeling indicated that mother's parenting self-efficacy was a significant mediator of the relation between mother's perceived social support and stress, child's temperament, and mother's parenting behaviors including Warmth-Acceptance, Rejection-Restriction and Permissiveness-Nonintervention Child's temperament had an indirect effect on mother's Rejection-Restriction and Permissiveness Nonintervention.

  • This study examined the causal relationships between parenting stress and self-efficacy of Korean mothers with an infant according to employment status using the second through fourth wave data of the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC). Autoregressive cross-lagged modeling was performed to test the longitudinal reciprocal relationships between the two constructs. Our results indicated that both maternal parenting stress and self-efficacy were consistent over time. The results also indicated that there was a significant cross-lagged effect of maternal parenting stress on their self-efficacy, rather than vice versa. No differences between working and non-working mothers were found in the relationship between the two constructs.

  • This study attempts to explore urban married women's needs for consumer information contents. In addition, the causality of the needs for consummer information contents and related variables is investigated. Major findings are the following: (1) Respondents' need for information on“the product selection”and “the use and management”of the washing maching or hair dryer is high, while the in need for the information on“the existing brands”is very low. (2) Among several relevent characteristics, respondents' product involvement is strongly related to the needs for consumer information contents. (3) The results of the analysis of casual model from washing maching showed that respondents' age, purchasing experience, perception of the price dispersion and quality difference, self confidence in the product evaluation affect on the need for consumer information contents directly. While respondents' income and education level show a indirect effect. (4) The results of the analysis of causal model from hair dryer showed that respondents' perception of the price dispersion, quality difference and product complexity affect on the need for consumer information contents directly. While respondents' age, purchasing experience, self-confidence in the product evaluation show a indirect effects.

  • There are many activities to improve Nuclear Power Plant(NPP) performance and safety such as equipment improvement, redundancy and the like. Since public perception about NPP safety affects nuclear policy of site selection. Recent researches for NPP safety are including not only technical approaches but also social ones. In. this contexture, the purpose of this study is to develope cuassal loop digaram for assessment of organizational and human factors in NPP safety. Through real data from interview with NPP employees we develope causal loop diagram which can explain the relations of cause and effect among variables, and depict social system for organizational and human factors in NPP safety.

  • This article aims at revealing the dynamic relationships between the energy R&D investment and economic growth in Korea. To achieve this goal, we reviewed the effects of energy R&D investments and tried to make the holistic interconnections for describing the feedback loops between energy R&D and economic system. Energy R&D investments develop the renewable energy, energy efficiency and $CO_2$ emission reductions technologies for accomplishing the national strategic targets. The rapid obsolescence of technologies makes the inefficiency and negative effects in governmental energy R&D investments.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze a causal relationship of children's behavior problem and the related variables(socio-economic status mother's psychological problem mother's affective parenting behavior children's negative emotionality and children's self-control). The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Socio-economic status had indirect in influence to children's behavior problem via mother's psychological problem and mother's affective parenting behavior. 2) Mother's psychological problem had direct influence and also indirect influence to hildren's behavior problem via mother's affective parenting behavior and children's negative emotionality. 3) Mother's affective parenting behavior and children's negative emotionality had a direct effect on children's behavior problem and affected indirectly via children's self-control. 4) Children's self-control had direct influence to children's behavior problem. 5) Mother's psychological problem was the most signi icant variable affecting children's behavior problem.

  • Green Building Certification System currently going into effect is a static evaluation model. Therefore, as far as the sustainable development of certification system is concerned, further long-term evaluation is required. The main purpose of this study is to offer a model in a way of developing and verifying a dynamic model in Green Building Certification. A dynamic model development has been given System Dynamics based on the causal structure. Thus, this study focused on searching the causal structure of certification criteria and verifying the reality of the model through simulation processing after developing a model. In conclusion, the development of dynamic evaluation method can be attributed to systematic evaluation for the criteria of Certification System.

  • The purposes of this study were to empirically examine the effect of relational benefits and relationship quality in the core variables of relationship marketing on customer satisfaction, to investigate the causal relationships among these variables. The questionnaires was administered to 417 women shopped in a fashion retail store in Gwang-ju city during January 14-18, 2002. For analysis of data, frequency, factor analysis, regression analysis, and path analysis were applied. The results were as follows: 1. The customers' perceived relational benefits were categorized as follow: 1) special treatment,2) social, and 3) psychological benefits. Relationship quality was categorized into two factors: trust and commitment 2. The relational benefits significantly influenced customer satisfaction. 3. The relational benefits significantly influenced relationship quality. 4. The relationship quality significantly influenced customer satisfaction. 5. The relational benefits had both direct and indirect effects on customer satisfaction mediated by relationship quality. The results indicated that causal relationship was existed among these three variables.
