이원 촉매를 이용한 과산화수소 가스발생기 (Hydrogen Peroxide Gas Generator with Dual Catalyst Beds)

  • 고농도 과산화수소는 별도의 산화제가 필요치 않은 단일추진제로써 상온에서 액상인 장점이 있어 다양한 장치의 추진제로 이용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 상온에서의 시동 성능 보완을 위해 이원 촉매층을 이용한 실험적인 연구를 수행하였다. 상온에서의 뛰어난 성능을 바탕으로 $K_2MnO_4$를 도입부의 촉매로 선정하였으며 이를 위해 알루미나 졸-겔법을 이용한 새로운 코팅법을 개발하였다. 가스발생기를 이용한 반응실험을 통해 설계유량에 적합한 기화기의 길이를 결정하였고 이를 이용한 이원 촉매 가스발생기의 성능평가를 수행하였다. 성능평가 결과, $10^{\circ}C$ 이하의 온도에서 냉시동(cold-start)에 성공하였으며 높은 분해효율을 확인하였다.

유해 유기화합물의 제거를 위한 폐 산업용 촉매의 이용에 관한 연구 (Study of using Waste Industrial Catalyst for the Removal of Harmful Organic Compounds)

  • The catalytic oxidation of benzene, toluene and xylene over a spent industrial catalyst (Pd-based) was investigated in a fixed bed flow reactor system. According to the priming condition, the properties of a spent Pd-based catalyst were characterized by XRD(X-ray diffraction). BET(Brunauer-Emmett-Teller) and ICP(Inductively coupled plasma). When air was used as a primer, optimum priming temperature was found to be 200$^{\circ}C$, and the catalytic activity decreased as the priming temperature increased. When a spent Pd-based catalyst primed with air at 200$^{\circ}C$ was re-treated with hydrogen at 200$^{\circ}C$, 300$^{\circ}C$ or 400$^{\circ}C$, respectively, the catalytic activity increased and thermal effect were negligible. $HNO_3$ aqueous solution priming resulted in slight decrease of the catalytic activity, with little effects on $HNO_3$ concentrations. The activity of a spent Pd-based catalyst with respect to VOC molecule was observed to follow sequence: xylene> toluene> benzene. Benzene. toluene and xylene could be removed to almost 100% by a spent Pd-based catalyst primed with hydrogen.

  • [ $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ ] catalyst impregnated ceramic candle filters are in principle, capable of performing shallow-bed dust filtration plus a catalytic reaction, promoted by a catalytic deposited in their inner structure. Pilot-scale $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalyst impregnated ceramic candle filters were prepared, characterized and tested for their activity towards the SCR reaction. The effect on NO conversion of operating temperature, gas hourly space velocity, amount of deposited catalyst, pressure drops and long-term experiment (life of catalytic filter) was determined. The following effects of $V_2O_5/TiO_2$ catalyst impregnated ceramic candle filters in SCR reaction are observed: (1) It increases the activity and widens the temperature window for SCR. (2) When the content of $V_2O_5$ catalyst increases further from 3 to 9wt.%, activity of NO increases. (3) NO conversion at first increases with temperature and then decreases at high temperatures (above $400^{\circ} over), possibly due to the occurrence of the ammonia oxidation reaction.

  • HI decomposition step certainly demand catalytic reaction for efficient production of hydrogen in SI process. Platinum catalyst can apply to HI decomposition reaction as well as hydrogenation or dehydrogenation. Generally, noble metal is used as catalyst which is loaded form for getting high dispersion and wide active area. In this study, Pt was loaded onto zirconia, ceria, alumina, and silica by impregnation method. HI decomposition reaction was carried out under the condition of $450^{\circ}C$, 1atm, and $167.76h^{-1}$ (WHSV) in a fixed bed reactor for measuring catalytic activity. And property of a catalyst was observed by BET, TEM, XRD and chemisoption analysis. On the basis of experimental results, we discussed about conversion of HI according to physical properties of the loaded Pt catalyst onto each support.

  • 본 연구는 zinc aluminate 촉매를 사용한 고압연속식 고정층 반응시스템에서의 대두유와 메탄올의 transesterification에 관한 것이다. 바이오디젤 제조를 위한 고압 연속식 고정층 촉매 반응에서 반응 조건이 메틸에스터 생성에 미치는 영향이 주로 조사되었다. 촉매가 없는 경우, 거의 모든 반응 조건에서 메틸에스터의 수율이 4.5% 이하로 매우 낮았지만, $300^{\circ}C$, 1,200 psi 조건에서는 19%의 메틸에스터 수율을 보여 주었다. 이는 반응 조건이 메탄올의 초임계점에 근접하였기 때문으로 보인다. 촉매 반응에서는 무촉매 반응과 비교하여 비교적 낮은 온도와 압력에서도 높은 메틸에스터 수율을 보여주었다. 또한 수율에 미치는 반응 조건의 영향을 살펴본 결과, 반응온도, 압력, 반응물에서 메탄올 몰비가 높을수록 높은 메틸에스터 수율을 보여주었다. 반응 변수 중에서도 반응온도가 메틸에스터 수율에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.

Optimization and Packed Bed Column Studies on Esterification of Glycerol to Synthesize Fuel Additives - Acetins

  • Biodiesel production has attracted attention as a sustainable source of fuel and is a competitive alternate to diesel engines. The glycerol that is produced as a by-product is generally discarded as waste and can be converted to green chemicals such as acetins to increase bio-diesel profitability. Acetins find application in fuel, food, pharmaceutical and leather industries. Batch experiments and analysis have been previously conducted for synthesis of acetins using glycerol esterification reaction aided by sulfated metal oxide catalysts (SO42-/CeO2-ZrO2). The aim of this study was to optimize process parameters: effects of mole ratio of reactants (glycerol and acetic acid), catalyst concentration and reaction temperature to maximize glycerol conversion/acetin selectivity. The optimum conditions for this reaction were determined using response surface methodology (RSM) designed as per a five-level-three-factor central composite design (CCD). Statistica software 10 was used to analyze the experimental data obtained. The optimized conditions obtained were molar ratio - 1:12, catalyst concentration - 6 wt.% and temperature -90 ℃. A packed bed reactor was fabricated and column studies were performed using the optimized conditions. The breakthrough curve was analyzed.

황-요오드 열화학 수소 생산 공정에서 니켈-백금 이원금속 촉매를 이용한 요오드화수소 분해 특성 (Charateristics of Hydrogen Iodide Decomposition using Ni-Pt Bimetallic Catalyst in Sulfur-Iodine Process)

  • This study was performed to develop a low Pt content catalyst as a catalyst for HI decomposition in S-I process. Bimetallic catalysts added various amounts of Pt on a silica supported Ni catalyst were prepared by impregnation method. HI decomposition was carried out using a fixed bed reactor. As a result, Ni-Pt bimetallic catalyst showed enhanced catalytic activity compared with each monometallic catalyst. Deactivation of Ni-Pt catalyst was not observed while deactivation of Ni monometallic catalyst was rapidly occurred in HI decomposition. The HI conversion of Ni-Pt bimetallic catalyst was increased similar to Pt catalyst with increase of the reaction temperature over a temperature range 573K to 773K. From the TG analysis, it was shown that $NiI_2$ remained on the Ni(5.0)-Pt(0.5)/$SiO_2$ catalyst after the HI decomposition reaction was decomposed below 700K. It seems that small amount of Pt in bimetallic catalyst increase the decomposition of $NiI_2$ generated after the decomposition of HI. Consequently, it was considered that the activity of Ni-Pt bimetallic catalyst was kept during the HI decomposition reaction.

  • Partial oxidation of methane was carried out by ceria-promoted Ni-substituted hydrotalcite-derived catalysts ($Ce_xNi_3$-HTlc ; x=$0.3{\sim}1.2$) in a fixed-bed reactor. The Ce/Ni ratio of 0.3/3 in the catalyst showed the best catalytic activity but the Ce/Ni ratio became higher above 0.3/3, the catalyst became less active in short-term tests. No ceria promoted catalyst was started to decrease $CH_4$ conversion after 20 h but the Ce/Ni ratio 0.3/3 catalyst was kept its stability in long-term tests.
