The defects of partial denture frameworks are mainly shrinkage porosity, inclusions, micro-crack, particles from investment, and dendritic structure. In order to investigate a good casting condition of partial denture frameworks, the three casting alloys and casting methods were used and detected casting defects were analyzed by using electrochemical methods. Three casting alloys (63Co-27Cr-5.5Mo, 63Ni-16Cr, 63Co-30Cr-5Mo) were prepared for fabricating partial denture frameworks with various casting methods; centrifugal casting (Kerr, USA), high frequency induction casting (Jelenko Eagle, USA), vacuum pressure casting (Bego, Germany). The casting temperature was $1,380^{\circ}C$ (63Co-27Cr-5.5Mo and 63Ni-16Cr) and $1,420^{\circ}C$ (63Co-30Cr-5Mo). The casting morphologies were analyzed using FE-SEM and EDX. The corrosion test of the dendritic structure was performed through potentiodynamic method in 0.9% NaCl solutions at $36.5^{\circ}C$ and corrosion surface was observed using SEM. The defects of partial denture frameworks improved in the order of centrifugal casting, high frequency induction casting, and vacuum pressure casting method, especially, pore defects were found at part of clasp in the case of centrifugal casting method. The structure of casting showed dendritic structure for three casting alloys. In the 63Co-27Cr-5.5Mo and 63Co-30Cr-5Mo, $\alpha$-Co and $\varepsilon$-Co phases were identified at matrix and $${\gamma}$-Ni_2$Cr second phase were shown in 63Ni-16Cr. Also, the corrosion resistance of cast structure increased in the order of vacuum pressure casting, high frequency induction casting, and centrifugal casting method.
The simulated die-casting process in which the traditional plaster casting process is combined with Rapid Prototyping technology is being used to produce Al, Mg, and Zn die-casting prototypes. Unlike in the die-casting process, molten metal in the conventional plaster casting process is fed via a gravity pour into a mold and the mold does not cool as quickly as a die-casting mold. The plaster castings have much larger and grosser grain structure as compared as the die-castings and the thin walls of the plaster mold cavity may not be completely fillet Because of lower mechanical properties induced by the large grain structure and incomplete Idling, the conventional plaster casting process is not suitable for the trial die-casting Process. In this work, an enhanced trial die-casting process has been developed in which molten metal in the plaster mold cavity is vibrated and pressurized simultaneously. Patterns for the casting are made by Rapid Prototyping technologies and then plaster molds, which have runner system, are made using these patterns. Imparted pressurized vibration to molten metal has made grain structure of castings much finer and improved fluidity of the molten metal enough to obtain complete filling at thin walls which can not be filled in the conventional plaster casting process.
A machine frame has been manufactured by casting. However, due to the development of the industrial society, 3-D duties was refused. Especially, the declination of the casting industry makes it difficult to produce the frame. Many companies still manufacture the small casting products. The large casting products are extremely limited and manufactured for their own use. Therefore, it is difficult to keep the term of order. In this study, the characteristics of steel structure which is produced by welding were identified in the view of mechanical strength of steel structure which is produced by welding were identified in the view of mechanical strength to substitute steel structure for casting frame. But welding structure has the residual stress, HAZ and welding deformation. Residual stress and HAZ especially cause crack growth. The proposed steel structure, based on the simulation and experiment(tensile curve and S-N curve), can reduce not only the producting term but also the weight of the frame.

Most of synthetic polymeric membranes used in ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and microfiltration processes are prepared by phase inversion(or phase separation) technique. In this technique, a homogeneous polymer solution is cast into thin film or hollow fiber shape and then immersed into a nonsolvent coagulant bath. The exchange of solvent and nonsolvent across the interface between casting solution and coagu!ant can make the casting solution phase-separate and form a membrane with a symmetric or asymmetric structure. Because of importance of this technique in membrane field, many investigations have been dedicated to elucidate the mechanism of membrane formation by phase inversion technique.[1-10] These investigation have suggested that the structure formation and permeation properties of phase inversion membrane depend on the variables such as the nature and content of casting solution and coagulant, temperature of casting solution and coagulant, and the diffusional exchange rate of solvent and nonsolvent etc. which can be related to the thermodynamic and kinetic properties of the casting system. The variables such as the nature and content of casting solution can also be the important factor affecting the structure formation and permeation property of the phase inversion membrane.
Two processing routes (i.e., the gel casting and polymer preform routes) using polymer beads were studied to fabricate porous ceramics with a cellular structure. The gel casting route, comprising the gel casting of a ceramic slurry mixed with polymer beads, was found to be inadequate to produce porous ceramic bodies with a interconnected pore structure, due to complete coating of the slurry on the polymer beads, which left just isolated pores in the final sintered bodies. The polymer preform route, involving the infiltration of a polymer beads preform with the ceramic slurry, successfully produced porous ceramics with a highly interconnected network of spherical pores. The pore size of 250-300 $\mu\textrm{m}$ was demonstrated and the porosity ranged from 82 to 86%. This process is advantageous to control the pore size because it is determined by the sizes of polymer beads used. Another feature is the avoidance of hollow skeleton, giving a high strength.
The simulated die casting process in which the traditional plaster casting process is combined with rapid prototyping technology is being used to produce Al, Mg and Zn die casting prototypes. Because of lower mechanical properties induced by the large grain structure and incomplete filling, conventional plaster casting is not suitable for the simulated die casting process. A plaster casting process with pressurized vibration was developed for the simulated die casting process[5]. In this paper, numerical simulation for the filling stage of the process has been performed to show the effect of the pressurized vibration for complete filling. Treatment of boundary condition based on the finite element method has been proposed for imparted pressurized vibration in the plaster casting process.
The two-dimensional pressure distribution, which is the most important parameter in the casting cleaning installations(CCI), was analyzed using the K-FIX computer program for two-phase flow. Modelling was done using R-Z coordinates for the initial and boundary conditions which don't have periodic influx and efflux, and also there was the electric discharge due to high pressure and temperature. The marked particles were introduced to prodict the structure and the size of main and local moving surfaces. The initial and boundary conditions were modified due to the internal structure of CCI.From the results of numerical analysis, it was shown that the maximum pressure on casting was increased with the increase of a water level. The pressure on casting in the radial direction was higher than that in axial direction. Also, it was proved that by introducing the marked particles it was possible to predict the surface structure in case of two-phase flow.
Several optimization techniques have been proposed for volume ray casting, but these cannot achieve real-time frame rates. In addition, it is difficult to apply them to some applications that require perspective projection. Recently, hardware-based methods using 3D texture mapping are being used for real-time volume rendering. Although rendering speed approaches real time, the larger volumes require more swapping of volume bricks for the limited texture memory. Also, image quality deteriorates compared with that of conventional volume ray casting. In this paper, we propose a data structure for real-time volume ray casting named PERM (Precomputed dEnsity and gRadient Map). The PERM stores interpolated density and gradient vector for quantized cells. Since the information requiring time-consuming computations is stored in the PERM, our method can ensure interactive frame rates on a consumer PC platform. Our method normally produces high-quality images because it is based on conventional volume ray casting.
