  • Hoarseness is the change of voice quality which represents the abnormal function of phonation and is the main symtom of the laryngeal diseases. The etiology of hoarseness are known more than 50 causes, among them, viral upper respiratory infection is the main cause of hoarseness and the laryngeal nodule and polyp, laryngeal paralysis, laryngeal cancer, laryngeal papilloma and the laryngeal tuberculosis are the other causes of hoarseness in that order. Recently, the authors experienced 4 cases of uncommon etiology of hoarseness, so we present the cases with the brief review of literatures. Case 1. 29 years old male Admitted in Dept. of neurosurgery due to Traffic Accident. He had a trauma on the anterior neck. Hoarseness was developed on 1 month after the accident. Laryngoscopic finding; Paramedian paralysis of left vocal cord. Displacement of left arytenoid cartilage. Case 2. 53 years old male Admitted in Dept. of General Surgery due to Clonorchis Sinensis, under the general endotracheal anesthesia, Choledochostomy was performed. Laryngoscopic finding; Median paralysis of left vocal cord. Case 3. 56 years old male Admitted in Dept. of Internal Medicine due to Aortic Aneurysm. Hoarseness was developed on 3 months prior to admission. Laryngoscopic finding; Intermediated position paralysis of left vocal cord. Displacement of left arytenoid cartilage. Case 4. 74 years old male Admitted in Dept. of Internal Medicine due to Bronchogenic carcinoma. Hoarseness was developed on 3 years prior to admission. Laryngoscopic finding; Paramedian paralysis of right vocal cord.

  • This study was carried out to understand the macroscopic aspects of the digestive system symptoms occurring after taking oriental herb complex decoction as observing morphological changes in esophagus, stomach and duodenal bulb by endoscopy of upper gastrointestinal tract when these symptoms developed. The subjects of this study were 46 patients (male 22, female 24, mean age : $54.72{\pm}14.26$ years) who were chosen among ones who took oriental herb complex decoction for medical care and developed symptoms related to the gastrointestinal tract while taking an oriental herb decoction, which were assumed that the digestive symptoms were newly developed because of administration. The subjects were given morphological examination by endoscopy of the upper gastrointestinal tract. As a result of the endoscopy operated due to the digestive symptoms developed during the administration of oriental herb decoction, there were 2 cases of esophagitis, 5 cases of acute gastritis, 1 case of chronic gastritis A type, 15 cases of chronic gastritis B type, 1 case of duodenitis, 1 case of gastric ulcer, 1 case of gastric polyp, 2 cases of intestinal metaplasia, 1 case of gastric ptosis and 17 cases of normal findings which didn't have any abnormality macroscopically with endoscopy. With regards to the patients who complained of the digestive symptoms after taking oriental herb decoction, it has been found that the symptoms occurred as the oriental herbal medicine taken by the patients who had the digestive symptoms at ordinary times influenced on the gastrointestinal tract. Especially, many of them were had chronic gastritis and functional dyspepsia in the past. The disease accompanying macroscopic lesions at endoscopy which occurred due to the oriental herb decoction as direct cause, was acute gastritis, and it was the prescription to cure the pains and inflammations of skeletomuscular disease.

  • Background and objectives : Social phobia is a nervous anxiety characterized by one or more constant fear in social activity or specific situation which causes serious damage to individual's social functions leading to chronic functional impairment when it is untreated. The objective of this study is to report a new finding of a possible subtype of social phobia according to a case survey and study of sufferers found via online support group. Methods : A single case review using survey and interview on patient was employed. Following a no-treatment baseline period for examination and interview, biweekly acupuncture treatment with interview for in-depth examination was delivered for 6months. Also, for in-depth investigation of peripheral vision phobia, survey questionnaire was done by the members of a Korean support group on on-line social group forum. Result : A new type of social phobia which has not yet been reported nor mentioned in any journals, namely called 'peripheral vision phobia' has been identified. Biweekly acupuncture treatment reached a comfort state of mental status on one case of patient with social phobia. Limitation : Due to the shift of environment on patient's part, the termination of the school session at where the phobia occur the most, the reoccurrence of the phobia is yet to be examined. Also, the generalization of the new type of phobia as a subtype only by reviewing one case alone with survey interview of on-line social group has limitation. Conclusion : The result of the case review suggests that 'peripheral vision phobia' is strictly concentrated on malfunctioning of peripheral vision without functional or organic hindrance of pupils or of any parts of eyes including eye muscles due to peripheral vision phobia. PVP is similar to social phobia and it may be a subtype of social phobia, however, since etiology, diagnosis, medical treatment methods are under researched, investigation is yet to be done.

  • As of this moment, we are tracing people who are closed contact with Covid-19 patients and trying to block the spread of Covid-19 through diagnostic tests. However, the incubation period of the confirmed case is two weeks, and it takes a lot of human resources, time, and money to trace the routes of the confirmed case. In particular, as the number of confirmed cases have been increasing, the cost for finding closed contacts and blocking them in advance exponentially have almost reached the limitation of the budget. In finding closed contacts, all citizens must record an electronic access list every time they visit an amenities such as a store or a restaurant. This is likely the invasion of the privacy of personal location information. In this study, we designed a system that keeps one's location in real time, it will download the movement information of the confirmed case which is collected by KDCA, and it will notify the user when there is an overlap. Moreover, then guide for diagnostic test in advance will be used. The proposed method can solve the difficulty of recording in an electronic access list when visiting a store, and it can block infringement of privacy without providing personal information from KDCA.

  • A rare case of a fused teeth on the side of upper left third molar was observed from a 28 years old Korean male. The characteristics were as follows: 1)The upper third molar fusrd with the suppernumerary tooth .2)The crown part of the fused teeth were separated and the root were fused. 3)On the x-ray finding. the pulp chamber was two , but it had only one pulp canal.

  • This paper presents an algebraic approach for finding a dynamic state feedback controller when the linear multi-input system with delays in both state and input is controllable. In the time-delay case, controllability of the system does not always imply that system is cyclizable. Therefore, reduced order augmentation systems which is cyclizable as the time-varying case are considered. It is possible to construct feedback contorl systems by using single-input methods.

  • Myoepithelioma of the trachea is an extremely rare disease. The neoplasm shows histologic features identical to those described in myoepithelioma of salivary glands. The myoepithelioma cells demonstrate the numerous myofilament, desmosomal cellular attachment, cytoplasmic glycogen and pinocytotic vesicles. In immunohistochemical study, myoepithelioma cells show the positive antibody reactions to actin, keratin, vimentin and S-100 protein. A case of myoepithelioma arising from trachea in the seventy-two-year old male diagnosed by microscopic finding and immunohistochemistry is presented.

  • Optimal screening procedures for improving outgoing product quality based on correlated normal variables are presented. The performance variable and the screening variables are assumed to be jointly normally distributed. These procedures do not require specialized tables, and closed-form solutions are obtained for the case of one-sided specification. Methods for finding optimal solutions for the case of two-sided specifications are also considered.

  • Given a prime number p and a natural number m not divisible by p, we propose the problem of finding the smallest number r0 such that for r ≥ r0, every group G of order prm has a non-trivial normal p-subgroup. We prove that we can explicitly calculate the number r0 in the case where every group of order prm is solvable for all r, and we obtain the value of r0 for a case where m is a product of two primes.
