  • The theory of cascade flow analysis for large deflection was suggested lately, but this as-sumed to be incompressible and inviscid, the blades of negligible thickness. In this study, the fluid is assumed to be compressible and inviscide, the blades of given thickness, and using the mean vorticity pannel method the effects of increasing camber angle are analyzed. As the result of this study, it is found that the calculated flow regimes have good agreement with the existing experimented data and other calculation results.

  • A state-based peridynamic model is able to describe a general constitutive model from the standard continuum theory. The response of a material at a point is dependent on the deformation of all bonds connected to the point within the nonlocal horizon region. Therefore, the state-based peridynamic model permits both the volume and shear changes of the material which is promising to reproduce the complicated dynamic brittle fracture phenomena, such as crack branching, secondary cracks, cascade cracks, crack coalescence, etc. In this paper, the two-dimensional state-based peridynamic model for a linear elastic plane stress solid is employed. The damage model incorporates the energy release rate and the peridynamic energy potential. For brittle glass materials, the impact of the crack-parallel compressive stress waves on the crack branching pattern is investigated. The peridynamic solution for this problem captures the main features, observed experimentally, of dynamic crack propagation and branching. Cascade cracks under strong tensile loading and secondary cracks are also well reproduced with the state-based peridynamic simulations.

  • At the beginning, researches on the biology of depression or affective illness have focused mainly on the receptor functions and neuroendocrine activities. And the studies of the past years did not break new theoretical background, but the recent advances in the research on the molecular mechanisms underlying neural communication and signal transduction do add some insights to many established ideas. This article will overview some of the more recent advances in the clinical researches of depression. Our major concerns to be presented here include the followings : (1) alterations in the post-synaptic neural transduction ; (2) changes in the neurons of hypothalamic neuropeptides ; (3) decreased peptidase enzyme activities ; (4) associations of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis abnormalities with serotonin neurotransmission ; (5) role of serotonin transporter ; (6) changes in the responsiveness of intracellular calcium ion levels ; (7) the inositol deficiency theory of lithium and depression ; (8) the transcription factors including immediate early genes ; (9) recent genetic studies in some families. This brief overview will suggest that changes in DNA occur during antidepressant therapy. These changes at the DNA level initiating a cascade of events underlying antidepressant modality will give us the insights on the molecular biological basis of the pathogenesis of depression and cues for a new class of antidepressants.

Analysis of the three-dimensional Steady Flow through A Multi-blade Centrifugal Fan (다익송풍기 내부 3차원 정상유동의 수치해석)

  • A numerical study is presented for analysis of three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flows in a multi-blade centrifugal fan. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with a standard $k-{\espilon}$ turbulence model are discretized with finite volume approximations. The computational area is divided into three blocks; inlet core, impeller and scroll parts, which are linked by a multi-block method. The flow inside of the fan is regarded as steady flow, and the mathematical models for the impeller forces were established from a cascade theory and measured data. Empirical coefficients are obtained comparing between computational and experimental results for the case without scroll, and are employed to simulate the flow through the impeller with scroll. In comparisons with experimental data, the validity of the mathematical models for the impeller forces was examined. The characteristics of the flow in the scroll were also discussed.

  • Numerical study is presented for the analysis of three-dimensional incompressible turbulent flows in multiblade centrifugal fan. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations with standard k - $\epsilon$ turbulence model are transformed to non-orthogonal curvilinear coordinates, and are discretized with finite volume approximations. Linear Upwind Differencing Scheme(LUDS) is used to approximate the convection terms in the governing equations. SIMPLEC algorithm is used as a velocity-pressure correction procedure. The computational area is divided into three blocks; core, impeller and scroll, which are linked by multi-block method. The flow inside of the fan is regarded as steady flow, and mathematical formula established from the cascade theory and empirical coefficient are employed to simulate tile flow through the impeller. From comparisons between the computational results and the experimental data, the validity of the mathematical formula for the blade forces was examined and good results were obtained qualitatively. Hence, we can get the flow characteristics of multi-blade centrifugal fan and it will be a corner stone of the development of the multiblade centrifugal fan.

  • This rape deals with the experimental and theoretical investigations on the aerodynamic performance of the Wells turbine. The two-dimensional cascade theory is used to estimate the thrust and torque of turbine, and finally to yield an efficiency of turbine. The turbine is assumed to rotate with a constant rotational speed in a sinusoidally varying unsteady flow field. Experimental approach is made in a wave simulator, producing a sinusoidally reciprocating air flow corresponding to the wave motion in an Oscillating Water Column(OWC) chamber. Performance data of turbine measured at various operating conditions are analyzed and compared to numerical results in order to understand the overall features of a Wells turbine.

  • This paper proposes a feedback linearization control scheme of AC/DC PWM converters with LCL input filters using no damping resisters. This feedback linearization scheme can eliminate the non-linearity of the system. So, the controller of the system can be designed by using linear control theory, which gives a good transient response. The cascade structure of the controller makes the converter current be controlled within a certain limit. To reduce the number of sensors, the source voltage and current is estimated. The validity of the proposed control algorithm is verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • Flood forecasting in Korea has been based on the off-line parameter estimation method. But recent flood forecasting studies explore on-line recursive parameter estimation algorithms. In this study, a simultaneous adaptive estimation of system states and parameters for rainfall-runoff model is investigated for on-line real-time flood forecasting and parameter estimation.   • 우리나라의 농촌 유역은 크게 1) 상류에 위치한 농업용 저수지, 2) 저수지 방류부, 3) 저수지 하류하천, 4) 하류 농업 지대로 구성된다. 이들 모두 유역의 홍수·침수와 연관되어 있으나 각각의 설계 빈도가 서로 달라 일시에 수용 가능한 수자원의 양이 상이하다. 예컨대 극한 강우가 발생한 경우 PMP를 고려하여 설계된 저수지에서는 유입 홍수량이 통제될 수 있으나 50-200년 빈도로 설계된 하류하천에서는 측면 유입량 때문에 홍수가 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 유역의 홍수 확률을 산출할 때에는 유역 구성지역별 홍수 확률을 산정한 후 종합적으로 고려할 필요가 있다. 특히 농촌유역의 경우 하류하천 및 농경지의 설계 빈도 기준이 도시에 비해 낮아 유역 구성요소 간 처리 가능한 수자원 양의 차이가 크다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 농촌 유역을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 한편, 최근 기후변화로 인해 극한 강우 사상의 빈도가 잦아짐에 따라 유역 내 홍수의 발생이 증가하고 있다. 따라서 기후변화에 따른 미래 농촌 유역의 홍수 발생 여부 파악이 필수적이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 CMIP 6 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6)의 GCM (General Circulation Model) 기상산출물을 농촌 유역에 적용함으로써 미래 농촌 유역의 홍수 발생 여부를 확인하고자 하였다. 또한, CMIP 6의 GCM 산출 기상자료의 시간 단위는 24시간 혹은 3시간으로 시간적 해상도가 낮으므로 유역 홍수 모의를 위하여 GCM 산출물의 시간 분해를 수행하였다. 본 연구에서는 MRC (Multiplicative Random Cascade) 모형을 기후변화 시나리오 기상자료에 적용함으로써 강우 자료의 시간 분해를 수행하고, 시간 분해 결과물을 활용하여 농촌 유역의 미래 홍수 확률을 산정해보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 농촌 유역의 홍수 확률 산정 기법에 관한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

The Characteristic of Shang Yang's Legal Reforms and Thought - Focusing on the application of the three-step theory of norms - (상앙의 변법과 법치사상의 특성 - 규범 3단계설의 적용을 중심으로 -)

  • Shang Yang was a person who, as a representative of the former School of Law, not only had an effect of thought on Han Fei Tzu, but also put a cornerstone of Qin Shi Huang's great universal unification by placing small and weak Qin Dynasty in a border area in the rank of a newly rising powerful nation. He is especially regarded as a person who valued laws and established the theoretical framework of legalist thought of School of Law systematically. To begin with, this writing examines the contents of the enforcement of legal reforms relevant to the prerequisite of Shang Yang's legal thought in historical archives, and confirms that Shang Yang succeeded in accomplishing legal reforms twice and that the aim of the legal reforms was to realize national prosperity and military power for the universal unification. This writing also takes notice of the fact that Shang Yang's legal thought went through specific steps for unifying the legal authority and the power of the monarch. Especially this writing focuses on applying the three-step theory of norms that was presented in the western social and political norm theory to Shang Yang's legal thought and on examining the characteristic and meaning explicitly. In short, the social and political norms go through emergence, cascade, and internalization. This writing aims to confirm that Shang Yang's legal thought also went through these three steps and was specified. Specifying this critical mind, this writing is a result which discusses that Shang Yang's legal thought went though the steps of the selective prescriptivism of emergence, the monarchical absolutism through sever punishment, and the internal monarchism for national prosperity and military power, and that the thought was systemized. Finding that the contents of Shang Yang's legal thought correspond to the three-step theory of norms and produce the individual meaning is the independent characteristic of this writing. It is the aim of this writing that the system and meaning of Shang Yang's legal thought will be confirmed more explicitly through this contextual examination.
