  • Fuzzy mathematics is used to elicit and evaluate human psychophysical responses in panel tests. The fundamental instrument used is a bar graph whose data is then converted to a paired comparison matrix. Form this matrix we use the theory of Perron and Froebenius to obtain an eigenvalue and eigenvector which indicates not only the panelist's comparitive responses but also the consistency of the responses from that panelist. Tests were done to evaluate the procedure.

  • The design method for trans-cavitating propellers is considered as the combination of super-and sub-cavitating propellers. Especially the design method of the super-cavitating region of the propeller blade is elaborated. A design example is shown. Encouraging test results obtained in the Korea Research Institute of Ship and Ocean (KRISO) cavitation tunnel of a model designed by the present method are discussed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to understand the underlying dynamics for the share market bubbles in China during the most recent decade. By using the behavioral finance theory and the Shanghai Composite index prices during the periods from 2005 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2015 as the study samples, we find that the large volatilities in the Chinese share market are closely related to information blockage, which impedes share prices to timely respond to economic conditions as well as external shocks and increases (decreases) the demand of shares when the supply is difficult to adjust. Although the Chinese government has introduced a series of programs designed to increase more reliable information to the public, the share market still tends to confront issues of information asymmetry. The potential reason is that the reforms did not change the long-stand situation in China, where individuals or groups related to government bureaucracy who play a dominant role in the society are given priority to gain access and obtain information that benefits. By identifying the main reasons for the large volatilities in the market, policy makers are given advice as to which areas they may need to focus on to improve future market performance.

  • This paper deals with the aeroelastic instability of vibrating multiple blade rows under aerodynamic coupling with each other. A model composed of three blade rows, e.g., rotor-stator-rotor, where blades of the two rotor cascades are simultaneously vibrating, is considered. The displacement of a blade vibrating under aerodynamic force is expanded in a modal series with the natural mode shape functions, and the modal amplitudes are treated as the generalized coordinates. The generalized mass matrix and the generalized stiffness matrix are formulated on the basis of the finite element concept. The generalized aerodynamic force on a vibrating blade consists of the component induced by the motion of the blade itself and those induced not only by vibrations of other blades of the same cascade but also vibrations of blades in another cascade. To evaluate the aerodynamic forces, the unsteady lifting surface theory for the model of three blade rows is applied. The so-called k method is applied to determine the critical flutter conditions. A numerical study has been conducted. The flutter boundaries are compared with those for a single blade row. It is shown that the effect of the aerodynamic blade row coupling substantially modifies the critical flutter conditions.

  • The method of increasing the bandwidth of distributed amplifier by the feedback loop is presented in this paper. In this method, it is tried to increase the gain of the amplifier in the high frequency range by giving a positive feedback on the device, while giving no influence in the low frequency range. For the simplicity of the amplifier design the transmission line theory of periodical structure with a unilateral divice is used in the design, and the 2-ports cascade network theory developed by K.B. Niclas is used in computer analysis for the purpose of precise results. In this simulation, the bandwidth of the amplifier is increased from 16 [GHz] without feedback loop to about 20 [GHz] with the feedback loop.

  • Cancer cells metastasize to distant organs by altering their characteristics within the tumor microenvironment (TME) to effectively overcome challenges during the multistep tumorigenesis. Plasticity endows cancer cell with the capacity to shift between different morphological states to invade, disseminate, and seed metastasis. The epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a theory derived from tissue biopsy, which explains the acquisition of EMT transcription factors (TFs) that convey mesenchymal features during cancer migration and invasion. On the other hand, adherent-to-suspension transition (AST) is an emerging theory derived from liquid biopsy, which describes the acquisition of hematopoietic features by AST-TFs that reprograms anchorage dependency during the dissemination of circulating tumor cells (CTCs). The induction and plasticity of EMT and AST dynamically reprogram cell-cell interaction and cell-matrix interaction during cancer dissemination and colonization. Here, we review the mechanisms governing cellular plasticity of AST and EMT during the metastatic cascade and discuss therapeutic challenges posed by these two morphological adaptations to provide insights for establishing new therapeutic interventions.

  • This paper presents theory for stability analysis and design of a servo system for a MIMO Wiener system with nonlinear uncertainty. The Wiener system consists of a linear time-invariant system(LTI) in cascade with a static nonlinear part ${\psi}$(y) at the output. We assume that the uncertain static nonlinear part is sector bounded and decoupled. In this research, we treat the static nonlinear part as multiplicative uncertainty by dividing the nonlinear part ${\psi}$(y) into ${\phi}$(y) := ${\psi}$(y)-y and y, and then we reduce this stabilizing problem to a Lur'e problem. As a result, we show that the servo system with no steady state error for step references can be constructed for the Wiener system.

  • A three-dimensional calculation is presented on the basis of Wu's theory of quasi-three-dimensional flow in turbo impellers. For the calculation of flow on the Blade-to-Blade stream surface, the finite element method is applied. In this work it is shown that the Kutta condition and the periodicity can be satisfied rationally by the technique of combining a basic through flow in the flow passage and a circulating flow around the blade. The results of numerical calculation are compared with those of the exact solution of the Gostelow's straight cascade and of the experimental results of pressure distribution on the rotating blade surface. It is found that the numerical solutions are in good agreement with the theoretical solution and the experimental results.

  • The paper studies the effect of neighboring blade rows on flutter characteristics of cascading blades. For this purpose the computation program to calculate the unsteady blade loading based on the un-steady lifting surface theory for contra-rotating annular cascades was formulated and coded. Then a computation program to solve the coupled bending-torsion flutter equation for the contra-rotating annular cascades was also developed. Some results of the flutter analysis are presented. The presence of the neighboring blade row gives rise to significant change in the critical flutter condition when the main acoustic duct mode is of cut-on state.

  • Azheimer's Disease (AD) known as senile dementia accounts for 50% of all dementia cases and is in growing status as population goes up. Generally. AD is a progressive neurodegenerative disease and includes much of senile plaque in cerebral hippocampus and cortex in patient's brain. For decades. AD theory is explained by amyloid cascade hypothesis. In process of the hypothesis, amyloid hypothesis forms fibrillar form beta-amyloid peptide (A${\beta}$ peptide) and extraordinarily accumulates in brain tissue, and lastly senile plaque is formed, which pathologically affect the brain.
