The liquid phase oxidation of p-xylene has been carried out with oxygen-enriched gas, and the manganese component was precipitated probably via over-oxidation to $Mn^{4+}$. The precipitation increased with rising oxygen concentration in the reaction gas and occurred mainly in the later part of the oxidation. The activity of the reaction decreased, and the blackening of the product and side reactions to carbon dioxide increased with the degree of precipitation. Precipitation can be decreased with the addition of metal ions, such as cerium, chromium and iron.

Acute oral toxicity studies of KDRD-002 (Coriolus versicolor polysaccharide :DDB= 19.2:1) were carried out in Sprague-Dawley rats of both sexes. In this study, we daily examined number of deaths, clinical signs, body weights and pathological examinations for 7 days after single oral administration of KDRD-002 with different dose levels. KDRD-002 did not show any toxic effect in rats and oral LD$_{50}$ value was over 3.25 g/kg in rats.s.

Computer simulation was carried out to predict the motion and overturns of power tiller-trailer system this system when traveing over an obstacle on inclined planes. To estimate the effects of design factors (mass center of main body and wheel base), ground factors (ground inclination and height of obstacle), and operation factors (traveling velocity) on the sideways overturn, the motion of power tiller-trailer system was simulated as the factors were varied with five different levels.

To understand the dynamics of a drifting object, an analysis based on fluid dynamics theory is presented. A simplified analysis shows a consistency with the linear formula currently used for search and rescue mission. Also an experiment using miniatured human models has been conducted to study the drift characteristics of Person-in-Water. The tests were carried out at the water channel facility and the models were tested in different positions and styles. The measured drag coefficients for human body ranged over 0.4-1.2.

This study is about design of vehicle for air tightness to pressure waves of high speed train. When the train runs to high speed over 300km/h, the comfort of passenger come down due to difference pressure between inside and outside of passenger room. The car-body was carried out the design of air-tightness, and the analysis of inside pressure of vehicle in tunnel by TG_TUN of ALSTOM Co. The result of analysis should be used the design of air pressurized system and car-body of G7 high speed train project.

Our transmissions are mostly constructed on the mountains and passing over the mountains. The height of transmission lines are generally decided from the trees on the mountains. The height of the transmission lines is very important, because it has an effect on construction and maintenance costs of the transmission lines. We carried out tests for electrical impulse characteristics between trees and transmission lines, and suggested the test results.

In order to investigate performance changes, the acceleration, vibration, and braking performance tests were carried out on the electric multiple units (EMUs) with over 20 years operation. According to the testing results, in vibration and braking performance, the similar performance results were obtained as compared with newly manufactured EMUs. However, in terms of acceleration performance, below reference value (3.0 km/h/s) has been obtained. This is mainly due to performance deterioration including traction motor. The precision diagnosis evaluation of deteriorated EMUs will be provided through the overall evaluation of corrosion testing and structural performance of car body.

In this paper, we present a Ku-band OMT(orthomode transducer) structure employing a simple waveguide transition withou a septum. Various aspects of the OMT design are discussed. The design is carried out using a commercial software HFSSe The designed OMT shows good characteristics over 12.5114.25 CHz frequency bands.

Asian Dust is a seasonal phenomenon which affects much of East Asia mostly in spring. The dust and sand storm originate in the deserts of Mongolia. northern China, and Kazakhstan. Asian Dust is carried eastward by prevailing winds, and pass over China, the Korean Peninsula. and Japan. In recent years, Republic of Korea, China, and Japan have participated in projects associated with implementation of observation network and reforestation in the source region. The information of Asian Dust can be exchanged in real time among the east Asian countries through the international co-operation.

There has been an increasing demand over the years for steels with lower[s] content. For the purpose of improving the efficiency of desulphrization in the powder injection process of ladle, experimental studies were carried out by using cold model to optimize the lance configuration, gas flow rate, immersion depth of lance nozzle, position of lance nozzle relative to the ladle and the effect with slag, etc. As the results of this study, it was made clear that 2-hole nozzle lance (C, E type) placed in an asymmetric position gives the shortest mixing times.
