  • 해양플랜트는 일반 선박과는 달리 작업이 진행되면 고정된 위치에서 장시간 운용되는 특성으로 인하여 높은 신뢰성을 요구하고 있으며 안전 확보를 위하여 사용자 및 유지보수 작업자에게 센서 기반 상태 정보가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 해양플랜트용 Cargo Lift에 대한 안전진단 및 점검을 위한 모니터링 시스템을 제안한다. 해양플랜트 Cargo Lift에 탑재된 센서부와 임베디드 시스템 계측부, 실시간 데이터 확인을 위한 모니터링부로 구성되며 조선해양 분야에서 장비들의 고도화 및 통합화에 따라 승강기에 대한 운행정보 및 센서 계측 정보의 교환을 위해 선박 표준 네트워크 IEC 61162-450을 기반으로 한다.

A-마트 상온 제품 종합물류센터 실시설계를 위한 시뮬레이션 (A Simulation Study for Detailed Design of A-Mart Logistics Center for General Products)

  • This paper deals with the simulation model for A-Mart logistic center design and operations. In developed simulation model, receiving docks, conveyor sorter, conveyor system, shipping docks, material handling devices and manual sorting stations are considered. Three types of cargo such as transfer center cargo, distribution center cargo and supermarket cargo are considered. The simulation model and process animation are developed using the simulation package ARENA. Among various design and operation alternatives consisting of the number of workers of receiving dock, allocation of receiving docks by cargo types, conveyor sorter velocity, the number of folk-lift, the number of manual sorting operators and overall layout, the best alternatives of each subsystem are selected by simulation analysis. The major performance measures such as sorter throughput, utilization of operators at each station, receiving docks utilization and folk-lift utilization are considered for the alternative evaluation.

붐(Boom)의 탄성을 고려한 해상 크레인의 리프팅 설계 해석 (Analysis for Lifting Design of a Floating Crane with Elastic Booms)

  • In this paper, the dynamic response analysis of a floating crane with elastic booms and a cargo is performed. The objective is to consider the effects of the elastic boom in the lifting design stage. Governing equations of the motion for the system which consists of interconnected rigid and flexible bodies are derived based on the formulation of flexible multibody system dynamics. To model the boom as a flexible body, floating reference frame and nodal coordinates are used. Coupled surge, pitch, and heave motion of the floating crane with the cargo which has 3 degree of freedom is simulated by solving the equation numerically. Finally, the effects of the elastic boom for the lifting design that the floating crane is required to lift a heavy cargo are discussed by comparing the simulation result between with the elastic boom and with the rigid one.

A correlation method for high-frequency response of a cargo during dry transport in high seas

  • Cargo, such as a Tension Leg Platform (TLP), Semi-submersible platform (Semi), Spar or a circular Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), are frequently dry-transported on a Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) from the point of construction to the point of installation. The voyage can span months and the overhanging portions of the hull can be subject to frequent wave slamming events in rough weather. Tie-downs or sea-fastening are usually provided to ensure the safety of the cargo during the voyage and to keep the extreme responses of the cargo, primarily for the installed equipment and facilities, within the design limits. The proper design of the tie-down is dependent on the accurate prediction of the wave slamming loads the cargo will experience during the voyage. This is a difficult task and model testing is a widely accepted and adopted method to obtain reliable sea-fastening loads and extreme accelerations. However, it is crucial to realize the difference in the inherent stiffness of the instrument that is used to measure the tri-axial sea fastening loads and the prototype design of the tie-downs. It is practically not possible to scale the tri-axial load measuring instrument stiffness to reflect the real tie-down stiffness during tests. A correlation method is required to systematically and consistently account for the stiffness differences and correct the measured results. Direct application of the measured load tends to be conservative and lead to over-design that can reflect on the overall cost and schedule of the project. The objective here is to employ the established correlation method to provide proper high-frequency responses to topsides and hull design teams. In addition, guidance for optimizing tie-down design to avoid damage to the installed equipment, facilities and structural members can be provided.

  • 본 논문에서는 A-마트 저온제품 종합물류센터 실시설계 대안별 검증을 통해 신뢰성을 향상하고, 추가 보완사항을 발굴하여 개선하고, 설계의 편의를 제공하기 위한 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하여 물류센터 설비 및 레이아웃, 운영 방안에 대해 종합적인 대안을 제시하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통한 총 5가지 품종을 65점별로 분류하는 작업장과 각 마트별 출고 대기장을 모델링에 반영하였으며, 운영시간 내에 처리 가능한 작업 파트별 작업자의 수와 작업자 가동률, 각 작업 대기장 및 하역장의 대기용량의 수준을 평가요소로 반영하였다. 또한 입/출고 도크의 가동률과, 팔레트 처리를 위한 운반장비의 가동률을 성능평가 요소로 반영하였다. 개발된 시뮬레이션 모델에서는 실제감 있는 2차원 애니메이션을 통해 시뮬레이션상의 물류의 이상 발생을 시각화하여 보여주도록 하였다. 시뮬레이션의 결과에 대한 평가 요소 및 대안별 정량적 분석을 통해 A-마트 저온제품 종합물류센터의 종합적인 운영방안을 제시하였다.

타 간극 캐비테이션과 저감장치에 관한 2 차원 모형 실험 (Two-dimensional Model Tests for Rudder Gap Cavitation and Suppression Devices)

  • The increasing size and speed of cargo ships result in high speed flow in propeller slipstream, and thereby cavitation is frequently observed on and around a rudder system. Rudder gap cavitation is the most difficult one to control and suppress among various types of the cavitation on a rudder system. In the present study, experiments of the incipient cavitation and pressure measurement were carried out for typical cargo ship rudder sections with and without the suppression devices, which were suggested by the authors. Fundamental understanding of the rudder gap cavitation inception was obtained along with its relevance to the surface pressure distribution. It is confirmed that the gap flow blocking devices effectively suppress the rudder gap cavitation and, at the same time, augment lift.

  • Air balancer is a conveyance cargo-handling machine, used in assembly and process lines of car and machining industries. This can lift up an object, the weight of which is from 5 to 200 kg, and moves it to a position. As industrial technologies evolve, it is required to move an object and fit it into a specified position with greater accuracy, rather than performing simple tasks such as lifting objects up and down as conventional ones do. There is also a demand to handle an object with one hand, rather than with two hands,. Through designs of manifold unit for an air balancer function, pilot regulator unit to keep pressure constant, hand unit for an accurate load perception function, and air balancer circuit, this study enables everybody to work it with ease and convenience. Experiments and comparisons were conducted for the performance evaluation of the circuit.

Quayside Container Cranes in Year 2013

  • In this paper, design specifications for a new generation container crane in year 2013 is investigated. After analyzing the trend of the development of container cranes from the 1950s to date, a prospective size for targeting year 2013 is proposed. Introductory specifications of the frame, trolley, hoist and spreader for the proposed new crane are discussed. Considering that the mega-ships will load and unload more than 15000 boxes at one stop, rough dimensions of the crane including outreach, rail gage, lift, backreach, etc. are also suggested. Although the sheer size of the cranes already present some challenges, the biggest challenge is to improve productivity by maximizing the moves per hour. For this, the speeds of trolleys and hoists, rail loads, stability, etc. are discussed.

  • Korea is worldwide top manufacturer of offshore plant industry, while shown weakness in high-valued offshore plant service industry (OPSI). The governmental support policies and studies for fostering programs are centered on shipbuilding and engineering sector. On the other hand, offshore logistics service sector among the programs is neither included as governmental fostering support sectors nor ever-studied. Domestic shipping and logistics companies have many experience of handling various project, heavy-lift cargo and even super blocks on shipbuilding industry. However they are faced with lack of appropriate heavy carrier and others. So for their successful entering into offshore plant logistics market, systematic preparation, studies and supporting policies are highly recommended.

  • Many production methods are tried to enhance the productivity efficiency. Parallel connected floating cranes are one of the examples to lift mega-blocks quickly and efficiently. However, a general operation manual to operate parallel connected floating cranes and a method to consider risks during lifting operation are not confirmed. And if each floating crane is operated by itself, it is very hard to cooperate. Therefore, Synchronized operation system is installed to control parallel connected floating cranes simultaneously and to be informed of each floating cranes data. And weighting factor is calculated by considering all hazards during the operation and the general operation manual is confirmed based on the factor. This paper introduces the procedure for lifting operations by parallel Connected Floating Cranes using synchronized operation system, and its applications to lifting operation of a heavy cargo such as barge lifting test, floating dock installation and 900 ton goliath crane replacement operation, etc.
