Career decision-making styles and career maturity amongst Korean undergraduate students (대학생의 진로의사결정유형에 따른 진로의식성숙)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences in university student's career maturity according to general characteristics(for example, gender, grade, and SES) and undergraduate student's career decision-making styles. A scale measuring the career decision-making styles(Harren, 1984) and career maturity(Crites, 1978) was administered to 223 university students around the capital city. The data were analyzed using Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ tests, means, standard deviations, One-way MANOVAs, and Multiple Discriminant Analyses. The results of this study were as follows: 1. There was not significant difference by gender in career maturity. But there were significant differences by grade and SES in career maturity. Freshmen and Senior exhibited higher career decision-making attitude than sophomores and juniors. High-SES group showed higher career decision-making attitude and lower career independence. 2. There were significant differences by career decision-making styles in career maturity. 51.1% of our samples were rational decision-making styles, 30.0% of our samples were intuitive decision-making styles, and 18.8% of our samples were dependent decision-making styles. Undergraduate students with rational decision-making styles showed more positive career choice behavior and higher career independence than undergraduate students dependent decision-making styles.

The Executive Chef and depart of career development have to plan for problems now and a long time of time to cooks. Demand of cook career development are sociality and economical. Because the hotel needs a high-grade cook for keep competitive in changing surround. internal resources are more effect ive when require without delay man power than hire urgent. It is not only lack career development to cook, probably face up to retirement at one time and foment social order but also cook lose their a right to labor. Cook supports their family and grow, economic base for ethical by labor, so have to carry their point. In addition the domestic five stars hotel's career development structure are very simple and infirm, so it cause stagnation to position, lead to negative vision and show a drop in efficiency. Therefore the hotel must investment about Career Development.

The Development and Effectiveness of a PBL Based Career Education Program (PBL 기반 진로교육 프로그램의 개발 및 효과검증)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a PBL-based career education program and to examine its effectiveness on school children's career maturity. It's specifically meant to prepare a career education program to assist students to get an accurate grip on their aptitude, interest and personality and explore various sorts of occupations in the course of solving authentic and contextual career-related problems. After children's developmental characteristics and needs were analyzed, task analysis was implemented, and the objectives were defined. And then the core of the program, PBL problems were developed, and the validity of the problems were verified Evaluation plans and tools were prepared to assess children's problem-solving process and presentation, and an online learning space was designed. The program that consisted of 10-minute 21 sessions was provided to fifth-grade elementary schoolers for eight weeks. The findings of the study were as follows: The experimental group that participated in the PBL-based career education program showed a more significant improvement than the control group that didn't in career attitude and three career attitude subfactors involving planness, disposition and compromise. And the former made a more significant progress than the latter in career ability and its subfactors including vocational comprehension, self-understanding and decision-making skills as well. As a result of making a content analysis to make up for the survey, the students reported that they were able to get an objective understanding of themselves and acquire diverse and profound knowledge on work and the business world in the middle of solving the given PBL problems related to different areas in group and giving a presentation. In conclusion, a PBL based career education program developed by this researcher encouraged the students to have an objective self-understanding, to have a dynamic interactive discussion with their group members. Therefore the program had a positive impact on boosting the career attitude and career ability of the elementary schoolers. The findings suggested that in the field of elementary career education, autonomous learning attitude and subjecthood are the crucial factors to stimulate school children to explore and create their own future.

  • This study is to investigate the Effect of Career Choice Motives of the Private Security Guards on Job choice evaluation and Job Attitude. For this study visiting the 8 companies around the capital area and surveyed from May 1st to October 10th 2015 using the stratified random sampling method. A total of 240 questionnaires were distributed and among them, 220 copies were used except for analysis. I used SPSSWIN 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 to reliability analysis, factor analysis, analysis of structural equation model, path analysis. The level of statistical significance was set to .05. The following are conclusions. Job choice motivation has a positive effect on Job choice evaluation and Job attitude but Job choice evaluation doesn't play intermediary role on relationship between Job choice motivation and Job attitude.

The effects of the self-directed career management on the career success - Focused on the career interruption - (자기주도적 경력과 경력성공 간 관계 연구 -경력전략으로서의 경력단절을 중심으로-)

  • The career management concept is changing rapidly in the career management field in recent years. It becomes very difficult to have a lifetime employment within the same firm. As there is career-interruption that is pervasive phenomenon in the career management area, many academics and practitioners have been interested in it. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of career-interruptions as the effective career strategy of the self-directed career development on career strategy(career-interruptions frequency, career opportunities searching and career success (workers' wages). To test the effects of the self-directed career management, data were divided into two groups including self-directed career management group (n=210) and general career management group (n=191) based on whether career-interruptions are voluntary or not. The results showed that the self-directed career development attitude and career success were significantly different depending on worker's self-directed career management and general career management group.

  • Purpose: This study investigated the sought to identify the pain management knowledge and attitude of nurses in internal medicine and surgery stream wards and intensive care units to obtain basic information needed for improved pain control. Method: Data was collected through self-reported questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA using SPSS Win 12.0. Results: Pain management knowledge score averaged 51.1 out of 100, with significant differences evident depending on age, marital status, educational level, position, total work career, working department and cancer care-giving experience. Pain management attitude score averaged 2.9 out of 4, and significant differences were evident depending on age, marital status, educational level, position, total work career, working department, cancer care-giving experience, education experience and number of patients treated. Conclusion: Further studies are necessary to develop effective nursing knowledge and attitude education programs and evaluation such as discussion by cases, workshops, system of expert help for uncontrollable pain or a multi-disciplinary pain management task force. In addition, patient satisfaction level with pain management should be assessed and the responses reflected practically.

A Study on Career-Related Attitude and Awareness of Employment in Dental Hygiene Students from Some Regions (일부지역 치위생과 학생의 진로관련 태도 및 취업의식 연구)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to examine the career-related awareness of dental hygiene students and their awareness of employment in an effort to shed light on the consciousness of dental hygiene students on career and employment. Methods : A survey was conducted on 340 selected dental hygiene students in several colleges of health located in an urban community, South Gyeongsang Province, from June 8 and 16, 2016. The collected data from 335 respondents were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 for Windows. Result : Where they hoped to find a job was analyzed, and they hoped to be hired in an large city due to the possibility of development and expectations for high pay, and the students who wanted to be employed in a small or mid-sized urban community cited personal connections as the reason(p<.001). As for conditions for getting a good job, the largest number of the students placed importance on skills, and the students who were in the higher academic years attached more importance to skills and money(p<.01). As for preferred workplace, dental hospital was the biggest group's favorite workplace, and the students who were in the higher academic years preferred to work in dental clinic or dental hospital(p<.05). Concerning the length of dental hygienist career, the greatest group thought it would be between 11 and 15 years(p<.05). Conclusion : The findings of the study might not be generalizable because students from a few colleges only were investigated, but the findings are expected to help improve the understanding of dental hygiene students on career and how to prepare for the job market and to provide colleges and educational institutions with information on career and ways of offering vocational guidance.

The Determinants of Social Workers' Career Commitment and the Effects of Career Commitment on Job Attitude (사회복지사의 경력몰입 결정요인 및 직무태도에 미치는 효과)

  • This study is to investigate determinants of social workers' career commitment, compare the level of career commitment of social workeks by social work organization, and analyze the effects of career commitment on job attitudes. Social workers working for government agencies and community welfare centers and institutions in Busan city and Gyeongnam province were surveyed using structured questionnaires and 326 usable questionnaires were obtained. The questionnaires were analyzed for job, career, role, and organizational justice characteristics models and comprehensive model using SPSS/PC+.. The results are as follows; the level of social worker's career commitment was relatively high but the level of career commitment of social workers working for government agencies was slightly lower than that of social workers working for private agencies. According to the demographic characteristics, the level of career commitment of males was higher than that of famales. That of older workers was higher than that of younger worker, that of 2nd rank workers was higher than that of 1st rank workers. Task significance, task identity, feedback for the job done, career satisfaction, low role conflict, high distributive justice and interactive justice were related to higher level of career commitment while the skill variety was related to the lower level of career commitment. However, the main determinants differ according to the social work organization. Career commitment affected negatively on the career turnover intention while it affected positively on organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior, job involvement, and intrinsic job satisfaction. Therefore, different approaches and systematic measures are needed according to the organization.

  • The purpose of the study was to develop project based math learning using future prospective jobs to find out its effects on elementary school student's attitude toward mathematics and career awareness. Also, this study aims at implementation of this project based math learning program in school math education. The project based math learning using future prospective jobs was conducted through 19 lessons for 7 weeks. As a result, the project based math learning using prospective jobs is turned out to be effective on developing attitudes on mathematics and career awareness positively.

Effect of Patient Safety Culture and Patient Safety Competence on Safety Nursing Activity among Nurses working in Anesthetic and Recovery Rooms (마취·회복실 간호사의 환자안전문화와 환자안전역량이 안전간호활동에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationships among patient safety culture, safety competence and safety nursing activity among nurses in anesthetic and recovery rooms, and to identify the factors contributing to safety nursing activity. Methods: A descriptive correlational study was conducted. Participants were 156 nurses from 13 hospitals. Data were collected from February 11 to March 15th, 2019, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis with SPSS statistics 24.0 Program. Results: Safety nursing activity was significantly different in relation to nurses' level of education, position at work, clinical career, clinical career at anesthetic and recovery rooms, and work experience in patient safety. Safety nursing activity demonstrated a significant positive correlation with patient safety culture and patient safety competence. Factors contributing to safety nursing activity were patient safety knowledge, skill and attitude, clinical career, clinical career at anesthetic and recovery rooms, and the patient safety improvement system which explained 57.0% of total variance of safety nursing activity. Conclusion: To improve safety nursing activities at anesthetic and recovery rooms, it is necessary to develop patient safety programs with enhanced knowledge, skill and attitude to take patient safety as a top priority.
