Purpose: This study was to define the care time of elderly in long-term care facilities and to compare and analysis the care time by staff and facility types. Method: The data were collected from 530 elderly over sixty, residing in two long-term care hospitals for dementia, three long-term care hospitals for the elderly and two skilled nursing facilities. Care time for individual residents was measured the total time spent by nurses, aides. Result: The average care time measured by nursing staff was 158.6 minutes a day. The average care time for one resident by nurse was 40.4 minutes, and by aides, 118.2 minutes. The difference of the care time showed statistical significance between long-term care facility types(p<0.001) : average care time for dementia hospital(199.1min) was twice as long as that of skilled nursing facility(94.1min). Conclusion: The results of the study showed that the care time differentiates care time provided to elderly in long-term care facilities in Korea. The study suggests the need to emphasize the importance of standardization of level of staff and service programs by the long-term facilities.
The presidential election and the inauguration of the new government are a period of the policy window opening. The newly launched government is expected to improve the quality of life of the people. The Yoon Suk-yeol Government is also launched with new expectations with a transitional period in health care. The sustainability of health care in Korea is threatened. The environment of health care and the main policy issues of health care are difficult to secure the necessary finance for health care in spite of the increasing health care burden. Accordingly, the Yoon Suk-yeol Government's health care policy aims to provide intensive support to those in need of health and welfare and to improve the health of the people through investment in health. And for integrating fragmented health care and welfare services and creating people-centered community-based health care, a health care innovation center will be established for the evaluation platform of new delivery and payment systems, a health care development plan will be established for the blueprint of health care, and reorganizing the central & local government should be reviewed. Although we are facing unfavorable situations such as the distribution of the National Assembly, inflation, and the possibility of economic recession, we expect that announced health care policies will be implemented, recognizing that health care innovation is the only way to improve health care sustainability.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore self-management support experiences among breast cancer survivors. Methods: Individual in-depth interviews were performed for survivors who had treated breast cancer after completion of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Data were collected from April 2014 to July 2014 and analyzed using phenomenological method by Colaizzi. Results: Five essential themes were found as follows: 1) Need for continuous help and support to maintain self-management, 2) Need for professional resources to carry out regular exercise, 3) Overcoming psychological difficulties through others rather than health care professionals, 4) Disappointment with time with and circumstances of health care consultation, 5) Dependence on means of media for health related information. Conclusion: The results might contribute to an understanding of self-management support experienced by breast cancer survivors in Korea. It is suggested that evidence-based program for self-management support should be developed and applied to nursing intervention for breast cancer survivors.
Background: A musical self-care program can be used to prevent physical and psychological burnout of social workers in child care facilities. Purpose: This study aims to find out what social workers at child care facilities experience and mean by musical self-care, and what the benefits of using music are in self-care cases. Method: Qualitative case study method was applied and explored. Five sessions of a musical self-care program and one session of face-to-face in-depth interviews were conducted with four child care facility social workers from April 2022 to June 2022, and the data were analyzed as a collective case study and the results were obtained. Results: The musical self-care experiences of the participants were analysed into two major perspectives. The first is reflection in the care process. The second result is the benefit of using music in the care process. The need for self-care by social workers at child care facilities was confirmed, and that among various methods of self-care, the self-care process using music had a positive effect. In the musical self-care process, the intervention of music is based on the individual's self-reflection and self-acceptance, obtains psychological rewards through communication between colleagues, helps psychological recovery, and forms a cooperative relationship. Conclusion: This study indicates the need for musical self-care for social workers in child care facilities and provides implications that examples of its application in social welfare settings are important.
According to the provious study. it was suggested a need for improvement of nursing care through application of nursing process in Ewha Womans University Hospital With those data. it has been applied to the nursing care at maternity ward by nurses. This study was undertaken to determine the evaluation of the application of the nursing process which is an orderly. systemic min of deforming the patient's/client's nursing problems. This study involved 191 cases with patient chart and was carried out from Feb. 1979 to Feb. 1980 is Ewha Womans University Hospital. The results were as follows : 1. Actual performance of“Assessment”stage was 59%, and 45 % for the nursing diagnosis. 2. It was achieved with specific planning of nursing care for 71.6% and the plan was safely and effective implemented (97.9% ). 3. Afer“Implement”stage it was made of evaluation and feedback process (39%). 4. Nurses in Eha womans University hospital. they showed the Positive attitude toward the application of nursing process. but they saggested that there were lack of manpower and the consideration of time allocation. Recommandation are as follows : 1. All nursing staff must participate in continious education program for nursing process. 2. The results suggest a need for modification for the nursing history formeat and SOAPIER. 3. A need for improvement of physical condition for interview and effective utilization of nursing staff. 4. It will more effective when Dr's medical record replace by problem ariented aedical record( POMR).
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual condition of the disabled due to Occupational accidents based on the functional evaluation tool. Method: The data were collected from 2 Workers Accident Medical Corporation, 311 subjects between February and August, 2007. The tool comprised of six components including physical function, cognitive function, communication, emotional and disturbing behavior, nursing skills and rehabilitation needs. Results: Among the disabled, the average point of physical function of 5 was found in 61.92% and to express and understand were evaluated as normal in 36.69% and 33.44%, respectively. Also, hearing and vision were evaluated as normal in 53.50% and 37.98%, respectively. 19.01% of the disabled had emotional problems and 13.78% had disturbing behavior. Most disabled were in need of nursing skills with 97.73% ROM and activities. The 78.18% and 76.90% of disabled were in need of rehabilitation because of right and left leg in full movement disorders, respectively. Conclusion: The evaluation score for the disabled caused by Occupational accidents was diverse showing 10 to 19 points and 140 to 150 points. The result means the care cost should be determined depending on the care needs of the disabled because there is such a diverse range of care needs for them.
In order to develop the school dental health care in rural area, the author collected data about the population of all 6-17 year students living in Young dong-gun county, and Surveyed their dental health cares during one year of 1982. From the collected data, several dental health indices such as percentage of students of all population, percentage of students who visited dentists once or more during one year, average annual dentist visit and average annual dental treatment case were calculated and discussed. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The percentage of students of all population in Young dong-gun county was 29.65%. 2. The percentage of students who visited dentists once or more during one year was 4.67%. 3. The average annual dentist visit per student was 0.11. 4. The average annual dental treatment case per student was 0.16. 5. The oral examination case was 0.05, intraoral radiograph 0.01, oral prophylaxis 0.00, filling of dental carious lesion 0.02, pulp treatment 0.02, extraction of teeth 0.04, and others 0.02 annually in the average. In comparison with detectable need for dental treatment cases, oral prophylaxis was not supplied at all, filling of dental carious lesion was supplied about 1% and extraction of teeth was supplied about 10% of detectable need. 6. It was recommended that school incremental dental care project should be developed for school dental health programme in order to supply all of the detectable need for dental treatment.
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the burden of family with the mentally ill and professional needs. Data collection period was from June 29, 1998 to July 30, 1998. The subjects for the study was 134 family members of psychiatric in-patients and out-patients in Taejon and Chungnam. The questionnaire developed by OK-KYUNG YANG to measure the family burden and professional needs was used for this study. The tools used for this study were composed of General characteristics(30 items), family burden(43 items), professional needs(26 items). The data was analyzed by using on SPSSWIN program and included percentage, mean, S.D., t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient. The results of the analysis were as follows; The mean score of family burden was 134.26, which is higer than the mean score of the instrument. The mean score of professional need, the family caregiver who supporting of mentally ill patients, was .48 which is lower than the mean score of the instrument. Family burden was statistically correlated with professional needs(${\gamma}$=.6139, P<.001). There were statistically differences in family burden for respondent's relation, location of living, most care money giver, substant care money giver. There were statistically significant difference in professional need for family age, marriage status, substant care money giver, information status. The conclusion that can be drawn from this study is that addressing professional needs would contribute to reduce burden of the family caregivers with mentally ill. Therefore, Nursing interventions are needed to reduce family burden.

This review aims to examine safety concerns in pediatric dental care and underscore the need for comprehensive patient safety initiatives within the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Drawing insights from the prevailing patient safety policies of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, case reports, and systematic reviews, this review elucidates issues such as dental fires during sedation, ocular complications from local anesthesia, and surgical emphysema. This review highlights the significance of safety toolkits encompassing infection control, medical error reduction, dental unit waterline infection, and nitrous oxide safety in pediatric dental settings, underscoring the need to foster a safety culture. Furthermore, this study explores the curriculum for pediatric dentistry residency programs, emphasizing concepts such as high-reliability organizations and mortality and morbidity conferences. The study suggests the need for initiatives to enhance patient safety, including establishing safety committees, expanding reporting systems, policy development, and supporting research related to patient safety. In conclusion, this study underlines key messages, emphasizing the utmost priority of patient safety, acknowledging the inevitability of human error, promoting effective communication, and cultivating a patient safety culture. These principles are vital for advancing patient safety in pediatric dental care and improving outcomes among pediatric patients.
As the society is being industrialized, the fast-paced economic development that has caused substantial increase in cerebrovascular and coronary artery diseases and the industrial development and increased use of means of transportation have resulted in the rapid rise of incidents in external injuries as well. So the pubic has become acutely aware of the need for fast and effective emergency care delivery system. The goal of emergency care delivery system is to meet the emergency care needs of patients. The emergency care delivery system is seeking to efficiently satisfy the care needs of people. Therefore the purpose of this study is designed to develop an effective programs for emergency care delivery system in Korea. The following specific objectives were investigated. This emergency care delivery system must have the necessary man power, for transfering the patients, communication net work, and emergency care facilities. 1) Man power Emergency care requires n0t only specialized traning in the emergency treatment but also knowledge and experience i11 other related area, so emergency care personnel traning program should be designed in order to adapt to the specific need of emergency patients. It will be necessary to ensure professional personnel who aquires the sufficient traning and experience for emergency care and to look for legal basis. We have to develop re-educational programs for emergency nurse specialist. They should be received speciality of emergency nursing care so that they will work actively and positively in emergency part. Emergency medical doctor and nurse specialist should be given an education which is related in emergency and critical care. Emergency care personnel will continue to provide both acute and continuing care as partner with other medical team. 2) Transfering the patients. Successful management of pre-hospital care requires adequate traning for the emergency medical technician. Traning program should be required to participate in a actual first aids activites in order to have apportunities to acquire practical skills as well as theoretical knowledge. The system of emergency medical technician should be remarkablly successful with first responder firefighters. Establishing this system must add necessary ambulances operating at any given time. It will be necessary to standardize the ambulance size and equipment. Ambulance should be arranged with each and every fire station. 3) Communication net work. The head office of emergency commumication network should be arranged with the head office of fire station in community. It is proposed that Hot-line system for emergency care should be introduce. High controlled ambulance and thirtial emergency center should simultaneously equip critical-line in order to communication with each other. Ordinary ambulance and secondary emergency facility should also simultaneously equip emergency-line in order to communication with each other. 4) Emergency care facilities. Primary emergency care facilities should be covered with the ambulatory emergency patients-minor illness and injuires. Secondary emergency care facilities should be covered with the emergency admission patients. Third emergency care center should be covered with the critical patients who need special treatments and operation. Secondary and third emergency care facilities should employ emergency medical doctor and emergency nurse specialist to treat in-patients with severe and acute illness and multiple injuires. It should be fashioned for a system of emergency facilities that meets emergency patients needs. Provide incentives for increased number of emergency care facilities with traning in personal/clinical emergency care. 5) Finance It is recommended to put the finance of a emergency care on a firm basis. The emergency care delivery system should be managed by the government or accreditted organizations. In order to facilitate this relevant program the fund is needed for more efficient and effective emergency researchs, service, programs, and policy. 6) Gaining understanding and co-operation of pubic It is also important to undertake pubic education to improve understanding of first aids and C. P. R of individuals, communities and business. It is proposed that teachers and health officers be certified in C. P. R. The C. P. R education can be powerful influence save lives. Lastly appropriate emergency care information must be provided to the pubic for assisting them in choosing emergency care.
