The purpose of this study was to find out teacher's variables that made difference between teacher's efficacy for early childhood care and education and general self-efficacy, and to explore variables influencing in teacher's efficacy for early childhood care and education. In this study, 212 inservice teachers in edu-care centers completed and analyzed. Efficacy for Child Care and Teaching(ECCT) and general self-efficacy scale. Age, status in working place, years of experience, and participation in decision-making of working place were found as important variables in teacher's efficacy for child care and education, and general self-efficacy. And status and participation in decision-making of working place were found as important variables in explaining teacher's efficacy for child care and education.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of child-care efficacy, job efficacy, and health promoting lifestyle on the job satisfaction of in-home child care helpers who are called Idolbomi. Methods: Participants for this survey were 153 in-home child care helpers who worked in Seoul. Data were collected from May 23 to October 17, 2014 using self-report structured questionnaires. Data were analyzed using IBM/SPSS 18.0 program. Results: There were significantly positive correlations between child-care efficacy, job efficacy, health promoting lifestyle, and job satisfaction. Stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the predictors of job satisfaction were spiritual growth, education level, job efficacy, effect of income. Conclusion: Therefore, we need to develop strategies to enhance the job efficacy and health promoting lifestyle of in-home child care helpers to improve their job satisfaction.
Diabetes mellitus, a universal and prevalent chronic disease, is projected to be one of the most formidable worldwide health problems in the 21st century. For those living with diabetes, there is a need for self-care skills to manage a complex medical regimen. Self-efficacy which refers to one's belief in his/her capability to monitor and perform the daily activities required to manage diabetes has be found to be related to self-care. The concept of self-efficacy comes from social cognitive theory which maintains that cognitive mechanism mediate the performance of behavior. The literature cites several research studies which show a strong relationship between self-efficacy and self-care behavior. Meta-analysis is a technique that enables systematic review and quantitative integration of the results from multiple primary studies that are relevant to a particular research question. Therefore, this study was done using meta-analysis to quantitatively integrate the results of independent research studies to obtain numerical estimates of the overall effect of a self-efficacy with diabetic patient on self-care behaviors. The research proceeded in three stages : 1) literature search and retrieval of studies in which self-efficacy was related to self-care, 2) coding, and 3) calculation of mean effect size and data analysis. Seventeen studies which met the research criteria included study population of adults with diabetes, measures of self-care and measures of self-efficacy as a predictive variable. Computation of effect size was done on DSTAT which is a statistical computer program specifically designed for meta-analysis. To determine the effect of self-efficacy on self-care practice homogeneity tests were conducted. Pooled effect size estimates, to determine the best subvariable for composite variables, metabolic control variables and component of self-efficacy and self-care, indicated that the effect of self-efficacy composite on self-care composite was moderate to large. The weighted mean effect size of self-efficacy composite and self-care composite were +.76 and the confidence interval was from +.66 to +.86 with the number of subjects being 1,545. The total for this meta-analysis result showed that the weighted mean effect sizes ranged from +.70 to +1.81 which indicates a large effect. But since reliabilities of the instruments in the primary studies were low or not stated, caution must be applied in unconditionally accepting the results from these effect sizes. Meta-analysis is a useful took for clarifying the status of knowledge development and guiding decision making about future research and this study confirmed that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and self-care in patients with diabetes. It, thus, provides support for nurses to promote self-efficacy in their patients. While most of the studies included in this meta-analysis used social cognitive theory as a framework for the study, some studies use Fishbein & Ajzen's attitude model as a model for active self-care. Future research is needed to more fully define the concept of self-care and to determine what it is that makes patients feel competent in their self-care activities. The results of this study showed that self-efficacy can promote self-care. Future research is needed with experimental design to determine nursing interventions that will increase self-efficacy.
The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between self-efficacy and self-care of hemodialysis patients. The subjects consisted of 140 hemodialysis patients who underwent hemodialysis at 2 university hospitals. The data were collected by questionnaires and chart review. The questinnaire used the self-efficacy tool developed by Kim Ju Hyune(1995) and the self-care tool developed by literature review and indepth open openended questions to 10 patients. Also, the questionnaire included physiologic data which collected through review of the patients' charts. The statistical analysis was used the SPSS program for frequency, mean, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation. The results were as follows : 1. The mean score for general self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients was 3.103(1-4point) and there were significant differences according to percieved health. The mean score for specific self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients was 3.113 (1-4point) and there were significant differencies according to percieved health, side effects and complications which related hemodialysis. 2. The mean score for self-care of hemodialysis patients was 3.822(1-5point) and there were significant differencies according to marital status and economic level. 3. The relationship between general self-efficacy and self-care was a positive correlation(P=.000). The relationship between specific self-efficacy and self-care was a positive correlation(P=.000). In conclusion, this study revealed the level of self-efficacy and self-care, and the positive correlation between self-efficacy and self-care in hemodialysis patients. Therefore, intervention is needed to promote self-efficacy for self-care of hemodialysis patients. Considering the vulnerable self-care area same as checking blood pressure and weight, fluid restriction, social adjustment, exercise and rest, luther studies should develop self-efficacy promoting programs for self-care of hemodialysis patients.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between occupational identity, occupation satisfaction, and self-efficacy of care workers in care hospitals and to draw implications for improving the quality of care services. In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, the occupational identity of care workers in care hospitals as an independent variable, occupation satisfaction as a dependent variable of occupational identity, and self-efficacy as a moderating variable were selected. The causal relationships between occupational identity and occupation satisfaction and the moderating effect of self-efficacy were analyzed. As a result of the analysis, the occupational identity of care workers in care hospitals showed significant effects on occupation satisfaction and job commitment. Also, the effects of occupational identity on occupation satisfaction and job commitment differ depending on self-efficacy, which means that moderating effects of self-efficacy are significant. Based on this analytical results, the theoretical and policy implications of this study were suggested, and the directions and limitations of this study were suggested.
The study aims to find out and examine the variables that make a difference between pre-service teachers' child care efficacy (CCE) and general self-efficacy (GSE). The subjects were 232 pre-service child care teachers going to an educational institution and a college. The results are as follows. First, the variables of "age", "teacher training facilities", "field experience in child care centers", and "experience of child care" and "paraprofessional teachers" are important variables in pre-service teachers' CCE. Second, the variables of "age", "level of education", "teacher training facilities", "field experience in child care center", and "experience of child care or paraprofessional teachers" significantly affect the pre-service teachers' GSE. Third, the "age" variable is essential in explaining pre-service teachers' GSE. The Pre-service teachers' GSE is significantly related to the pre-service teachers' CCE.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to explore the structural analysis of the relationships among principals and fellow teacher's emotional support, teacher's active motivation for choosing the teaching profession, self-leadership, and child care efficacy and commitment. Methods: Data were collected from 465 child care teachers and analyzed by means of structural equational modeling(SEM). Results: First, principals and fellow teacher' emotional support was found to have a direct effect on teacher's child care commitment, as well as an indirect effect through teacher's self-leadership. Second, teacher's active motivation for choosing the teaching profession was found to have a direct effect on teacher's child care commitment, as well as an indirect effect through self-leadership and child care efficacy. Third, teacher's self-leadership was found to have a direct effect on teacher's child care commitment, as well as an indirect effect through child care efficacy. Fourth, teacher's child care efficacy was to found have a direct effect on teacher's child care commitment. Conclusion: These results suggest the need for a great deal of utility to improve teacher's child care commitment.
Purpose : Establishing competency in person-centered care is crucial for providing high-quality nursing care in diverse clinical settings and adapting to changing roles in different situations. This study aimed to explore the level of transcultural self-efficacy, cultural empathy, and person-centered care competency among nursing students, as well as identify the factors influencing their person-centered care competency. The findings will serve as fundamental data to enhance person-centered care competency. Methods : A questionnaire consisting of items on general characteristics, person-centered care competency, transcultural self-efficacy, and cultural empathy was administered to 175 nursing students in G city. Data were collected from March 5, 2023, to March 20, 2023. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program. Pearson's correlation coefficients were used to examine the correlation among transcultural self-efficacy, cultural empathy, and person-centered care competency. Multiple regression analysis was employed to determine the factors influencing person-centered care competency. Results : The person-centered care competency scores were above the average level and varied according to department satisfaction (F=13.79, p<.001), subjective well-being (t=3.34, p=.015), and interpersonal relations (F=5.74, p=.001). Person-centered care competency exhibited a significant positive correlation with cultural empathy (r=.51, p<.001) and transcultural self-efficacy (r=.49, p<.001). Regression analysis confirmed that cultural empathy (β=.39, p<.001) and transcultural self-efficacy (β=.22, p<.001) were influential factors for nursing students' person-centered care competency, with the model explaining 37 % of the variance. Conclusion : Cultural empathy and transcultural self-efficacy are significant factors influencing the person-centered care competency of nursing students. It is crucial to encourage nursing students to develop person-centered care competency by fostering cultural empathy and transcultural self-efficacy. Further research is needed to identify additional factors affecting person-centered care competency among nursing students. Additionally, the development of education programs aimed at enhancing person-centered care competency is necessary.
The purpose of this study was for the adult woman that provides the investigation, analysis, consideration of the relationship with clothing behavior and self-efficacy depends on their skin care grade. Data were collected from 477 adult females and analyzed by using frequency, dispersion analysis, ANOVA, t-test, Duncan test utilizing SPSS 10.0 program. The results were as follows: The younger and the more educated respondents were the better their skin care. Also, the more they spent on clothes, the more they spent on cosmetic products. For occupations, professionals were to have better skin care. It was expose that 20s and 30s are shown difference for all low rank leading persons except conformity in the midst of it is clothing behavior main point by skin care management degree, 40s appeared that difference is seen in interest, psychological dependence, aesthetics, management. It was expose that difference does not exist in liver that is clothing behavior main point by skin care administration degree in 50s. 20s appeared difference in general self-efficacy divination in self-efficacy, and 30s appeared that skin care degree is high as general self-efficacy and physical self-efficacy are high. It was expose that 40s and 50s are no difference of self-efficacy in between group by skin care degree.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships of early childhood teachers' communication ability, teacher efficacy, and organizational effectiveness of child care centers. The subjects of this study were 397 teachers working at child care centers. The results of this study were as follows. First, differences in the organization effectiveness of child care centers were detected according to teachers' age, career, type of child care center where they were affiliated, and marriage status. Second, the relative effects of the teachers' communication ability and teacher efficacy on the organizational effectiveness of early-childhood educational institutions differed significantly according to each sub-factor; teachers' communication ability's sub-factors - response, analysis, and evaluation - and teacher efficacy's sub-factors - general efficacy and personal efficacy - had partial effects on the organizational effectiveness of child care centers. Of these, personal efficacy had the greatest effects on all sub-factors of organizational effectiveness. This study is significant since it identifies the variables that could affect the organizational effectiveness of child care centers.
