휘발유 차량에서 배출가스에 미치는 올레핀의 영향 (The Effect of Olefin Contents on Exhaust Emissions from Gasoline Vehicles)

  • Exhaust emissions were studied as a function of gasoline olefin composition in two vehicles-MPI and GDi engine equipped vehicles. Three different gasolines were tested which varied in olefin contents-12, 16 and 20 vol%. Exhaust emissions in two vehicles were affected by changes in gasoline olefin composition. Responses to changes in olefins were similar in both vehicles : reducing olefins lowered emissions of NOx and CO. Measured exhaust emissions included total hydrocarbons (THC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), carbon monooxide(CO), carbon dioxide($CO_2$), formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene, 1,3-butadiene and acetylene.

  • 답전윤환지(畓田輪換地) 토양(土壤)에서 작부체계(作付體系)를 달리했을때 작물(作物)의 생육시기별(生育時期別) 토양(土壤)에서 방출(放出)되는 지구온난화원인(地球溫暖化原因)가스 -이산화탄소(二酸化炭素)($CO_2$), 메탄($CH_4$) 및 아산화질소(亞酸化窒素)($N_2O$) -양(量)을 조사(調査)한 결과(結果)를 보면 다음과 같다. 1. 작물재배기간중(作物栽培期間中) 이산화탄소(二酸化炭素)의 방출량(放出量)은 벼 연작재배시(連作栽培時) 가장많고 벼와 콩의 윤작재배시(輪作栽培時) 가장 적은 양(量)을 방출(放出)했으며, 답전윤환(畓田輪換) 방법별(方法別)로는 벼 연작토양(連作土壤)이 가장 많았고 매년윤환(每年輪換) 및 이년윤환(二年輪換)은 비슷했으며, 전전환시(田轉換時) 가장 적은 방출량(放出量)을 보였다. 2. 메탄의 방출량(放出量)은 벼 연작재배토양(連作栽培土壤)에서 가장많은 방출량(放出量)을 보였으며 답전윤환(畓田輪換) 및 벼와 콩 혹은 감자와 배추 등(等)을 윤작재배(輪作栽培)하므로써 방출량(放出量)의 뚜렸한 감소를 보였다. 3. 아산화질소(亞酸化窒素) 방출량(放出量)은 감자와 배추를 이년(二年)마다 윤환재배(輪煥栽培)하므로써 가장많은 방출량(放出量)을 보였으며 다음은 벼 윤작재배구(輪作栽培區)에서 많았다. 그러나 답전윤환구(沓田輪換區)의 벼와 콩 및 감자와 배추를 윤작재배(輪作栽培)하므로써 뚜렷한 감소(減少)를 보였다. 4. 토양(土壤) 공기중(空氣中) 산소(酸素) 및 이산화탄소(二酸化炭素) 구성비율(構成比率)은 작물(作物)의 생육시기(生育時期)에 따라 대단히 상이(相異)했으며 작물재배기간중(作物栽培期間中) 산소(酸素)는 4~10%로 대기(大氣)보다 낮고 이산화탄소(二酸化炭素)는 1~22%로 대기(大氣)보다 수십 내지 수백배로 높았으며 변이(變異) 폭(幅)이 대단히 컸다. 5. 작물재배기간중(作物栽培期間中) 이산화탄소(二酸化炭素)($CO_2$), 메탄($CH_4$) 및 아산화질소(亞酸化窒素)($N_2O$) 등(等) "지구(地球) 온난화(溫暖化) 원인(原因)가스"의 방출(放出)은 작물재배지(作物栽培地) 토양(土壤)의 수분(水分), 온도(溫度), 산소농도(酸素濃度) 및 양분(養分) 등(等)의 변화(變化)와 작물생육시기(作物生育時期)에 따라 크게 영향(影響)되었다.

복숭아혹진딧물에 대한 콜레마니진디벌 기능반응에 미치는 이산화탄소 농도 영향 (Effects of Carbon Dioxide Concentration on Functional Response of Aphidius colemani Viereck (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) on the Green Peach Aphid)

  • 본 연구에서는 복숭아혹진딧물의 포식 기생자인 콜레마니진디벌의 기능반응을 조사하였다. 이산화탄소 농도별(400, 600, 1000ppm) 복숭아혹진딧물 밀도를 달리하여(2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128마리) 콜레마니진디벌 한 마리를 24시간 동안 노출시켰다. 각 이산화탄소 처리에서 콜레마니진디벌은 제 3 유형의 기능반응을 보였다. 600 ppm (0.015 day)과 1000 ppm (0.014 day)에서 추정된 처리시간은 400 ppm에서 추정된 결과(0.017 day)보다 짧았다. 이산화탄소 농도별 복숭아혹진딧물 기생률은 유사한 특징을 나타내었다. 가장 높은 기생률은 400, 600, 1000 ppm에서 복숭아혹진딧물 16, 32, 32마리에 대해 0.57, 0.61, 0.70이었다. 이산화탄소 농도 증가는 콜레마니진디벌의 기능반응에서 공격율에는 영향을 주지 않았지만 처리시간에는 영향을 주었다.

일부지역의 실내공기오염도와 건강에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Indoor Air Pollution Level and Its Health Significance in Working and Living Spaces)

  • The study was carried out to investigate the extent of indoor air pollution in living rooms of apartment houses(residential area) and offices(traffic area A : no smoking space, B : smoking space) in Seoul and to determine the health significance of indoor air pollution. Indoor and outdoor concentrations of major air pollutants were observed simultaneously from February 13 to 17, and July 24 to 28, 1988. The concentrations of carbon monoxide(CO), nitrogen oxides(NOx), sulfur dioxide($SO_2$), carbon dioxide($CO_2$) and total suspended particulate(TSP) in living room and offices were measured and the results were summarized as follows: 1. Both in summer and in winter, the indoor concentrations of CO, $CO_2$, and TSP in offices were higher than the outdoor concentrations, on the other hand, $SO_2$ was higher in the outdoors and NOx was lower than the outdoor concentration only in office A where smoking is not permitted. 2. The indoor and outdoor pollution of offices in winter was significantly higher than that in summer, and the concentrations of CO, NOx and $SO_2$ in indoor and outdoor air in living room in winter were also higher than those in summer. These results suggest that indoor levels of air pollutants are affected by smoking and winter heating systems.

유해산출물을 고려한 국내 컨테이너 터미널 효율성 분석 (Data Envelopment Analysis for Container Terminals Considering an Undesirable Output - Focus on Busan Port & Kwangyang Port)

  • Recently according to increase of enlarged scale ports in conformity with increase in over size vessels and container handling service, pollutants generated from ports are increasing. In advanced countries, reduction in carbon dioxide emission assigned to them has been implemented according to the Climate Change Convention and Kyoto Protocol from 2008 to 2012 in order to lessen carbon dioxide emission. Henceforth increase in discussion on the measure of constructing Green Port and low-carbon port is expected in our nation's field of port as well, it is considered that the effort in reduction with regard to undesirable output which causes environmental problem of analysis target during measuring effectiveness. Therefore, in this study, effectiveness was estimated through directional technology distance function considering undesirable output differently from effectiveness analysis of existing container terminal, and then performed comparative analysis with the result analyzed with BCC output-oriented model. As the result of analysis, in 2007 DMU3 and DMU5, and in 2010 DMU2 and DMU4 appeared to be efficient terminals in BCC output oriented model, and in directional technology distance function model, DMU1, DMU3 in 2007, DMU3, DMU5 in 2008, DMU7 in 2009, and DMU2, DMU5 in 2010 appeared to be efficient terminals.

C 중유의 황 함유량에 따른 CO2 배출 특성 (CO2 Emission Characteristics of Bunker C Fuel Oil by Sulfur Contents)

  • Bunker C fuel oil is a high-viscosity oil obtained from petroleum distillation as a residue. The sulfur content of bunker C fuel oil is limited to 4.0% or even lower to protect the environment. Because bunker C fuel oil is burned in a furnace or boiler for the generation of heat or used in an engine for the generation of power, carbon dioxide is emitted as a result of combustion. The objective of this study is to investigate $CO_2$ emission characteristics of bunker C fuel oil by sulfur contents. Calorific values and carbon contents of the fuels were measured using the oxygen bomb calorimeter method and the CHN elemental analysis method, respectively. Sulfur and hydrogen contents, which were used to calculate the net calorific value, were also measured and then net calorific values and $CO_2$ emission factors were determined. The results showed that hydrogen content increases and carbon content decreases by reducing sulfur contents for bunker C fuel oil with sulfur contents less than 1.0%. For sulfur contents between 1.0% and 4.0%, carbon content increases as sulfur content decreases but there is no evident variation in hydrogen content. Net calorific value increases by reducing sulfur contents. $CO_2$ emission factor, which is calculated by dividing carbon content by net calorific value, decreases as sulfur content decreases for bunker C fuel oil with sulfur contents less than 1.0% but it showed relatively constant values for sulfur contents between 1.0% and 4.0%.

  • Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most abundant component of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and directly creates environmental issues such as global warming and climate change. Carbon capture and storage have been proposed mainly to solve the problem of increasing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere; however, more emphasis has recently been placed on its use. Among the many methods of using CO2, one of the key environmentally friendly technologies involves biologically converting CO2 into other organic substances such as biofuels, chemicals, and biomass via various metabolic pathways. Although an efficient biocatalyst for industrial applications has not yet been developed, biological CO2 conversion is the needed direction. To this end, this review briefly summarizes seven known natural CO2 fixation pathways according to carbon number and describes recent studies in which natural CO2 assimilation systems have been applied to heterogeneous in vivo and in vitro systems. In addition, studies on the production of methanol through the reduction of CO2 are introduced. The importance of redox cofactors, which are often overlooked in the CO2 assimilation reaction by enzymes, is presented; methods for their recycling are proposed. Although more research is needed, biological CO2 conversion will play an important role in reducing GHG emissions and producing useful substances in terms of resource cycling.

김치포장 내부의 이산화탄소 및 산소 제어를 위한 포장 기술 고찰 (Critical review on Active Technologies to Regulate the Levels of Carbon Dioxide and Oxygen for Kimchi Packaging)

  • This paper presents a literature review on the active technologies to regulate the levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in Kimchi packaging. In this study, laser-etched pouches and $O_2$ scavengers were used for Kimchi packaging, and the efficiency of each packaging technique to regulate the $CO_2$ and $O_2$ levels inside Kimchi packages was investigated. When Kimchi was packaged with a laser-etched pouch, the $CO_2$ concentration in the sample with a high gas transmission rate was less than that in other pouches (p<0.05), and a low $CO_2$ level had little effect on the expansion of the package volume. Kimchi treated with an $O_2$ absorber exhibited a significantly lower (p<0.05) $O_2$ concentration inside the packages relative to the control. A low $O_2$ concentration inside the Kimchi package effectively inhibited the growth of total aerobic bacteria and lactic acid bacteria, as well as yeasts and molds on Kimchi. These results suggest that $O_2$ absorbers have a positive effect on the microbial quality of Kimchi. Therefore, packaging in a laser-etched pouch and the use of an $O_2$ scavenger could provide a novel packaging material for regulating the $CO_2$ and $O_2$ levels during Kimchi packaging.

  • Malfunction or inappropriate management of ventilation system in public transportation may cause unpleasant atmosphere or health problems to the old or feeble passengers. In this work, gaseous carbon dioxide removal system is developed and tested under the various serviced passenger cabins. Finally an optimum operating conditions for the $CO_2$ removal system will presented.
