The government is carrying forward a sustainable development which reduces green-house gas and environmental pollution by preparing 'Low Carbon Green Development' policy basis as a new paradigm of national development. This study aims to understand the status of atmosphere contamination which Seoul has by finding correlation among social, economical indexes and carbon, the humanities and social characteristic materials which best express types of city and correlation and to suggest implications. According to the results of the analysis, first the carbon emission volume of Seoul recorded 0.56 ppm, Jongno, Jung-Gu, Kuro, Kangnam and Songpa were more than the average of Seoul and Kwangjin-Gu & Kangbuk-Gu, relative north east regions, Yeongdeungpo-Gu and Dongjak-Gu, south west regions showed lower CO occurrences. Second, according to the correlation and factor analysis, elements which affect CO emission volume of Seoul are largely represented by regional level, traffic level and development density level. Third, when the importance of influence factors based on the analyzed standard coefficient by a regression model, traffic and development density level were most important by recording traffic level (0.967), environmental level (0.385), regional level (0.530) and development density (0.561). Consequently, it was revealed that the traffic level most affected CO emission.

The need for eco-friendly building materials such as engineered wood has increased to reduce carbon emissions. Although the range and height of engineered wood buildings are gradually increasing in North America and Europe, engineered wood is mainly used for low-rise residential buildings in Korea. In order to reduce carbon emissions more, therefore, it needs to expand the use of engineered wood by applying it to various buildings with different uses or more stories. With this background, the aim of this study is to investigate the applicability of engineered wood for 9-story office buildings. Since a 9-story building with engineered wood only is not allowed in KBC, an example building has RC ordinary shear walls as the lateral force resisting system while engineered wood is only used for gravity load resisting moment frames. Another example building is also used for comparison where both lateral and gravity load resisting systems are designed by RC. The applicability of engineered wood is investigated by comparing the seismic performance and the amount of carbon emission of both buildings. The result shows that the seismic performance of both buildings was not significantly different while the amount of carbon emission of the engineered wood building was much less then the RC building. Based on this result, engineered wood is sufficiently applicable to 9-story office buildings even though it still needs to pay attention to the shear design of reinforce concrete walls.
Recently, the fire rescue truck in problem proceed research it for the fast works action and for pass the small road. So we were research for weight reduction. In this study, the (NO. 5) fifth boom of the fire rescue truck have 288 mm(W) × 299 mm(D) × 3,691 mm(L) with a maximum load of 876 kg and the thickness of 3 mm of the Steel Boom. This changing of Steel (STRENX960) to CFRP was weave Carbon Fiber NCF (±45°, 2axis) and then it make the NCF Prepreg. This process was designed based on structural analysis, the effects of NCF Prepreg (±45°) on torsion were identified, and the optimal design was made with Stacking Pattern (b). Stack patterns were optimized for levels equal or higher than existing Steel Boom and CFRP Boom stacked in the UD direction, and finally, the lightening effect on weight of approximately 49.6% of the steel was identified.

Powdered metal parts and components may be carburized successfully in a vacuum furnace by combining carburizing technology $VacCarb^{TM}$ with a hi-tech control system. This approach is different from traditional carburizing methods, because vacuum carburizing is a non-equilibrium process. It is not possible to set the carbon potential as in a traditional carburizing atmosphere and control its composition in order to obtain a desired carburized case. This paper presents test results that demonstrate that vacuum carburizing system $VacCarb^{TM}$ carburized P.M. materials faster than traditional steel with acceptable results. In the experiments conducted, PM samples with the lowest density and open porosity showed a dramatic increase in the surface carbon content up to 2.5%C and a 3 times deeper case. Currently the boost-diffusion technique is applied to control the surface carbon content and distribution in the case. In the first boost step, the flow of the carburizing gas has to be sufficient to saturate the austenite, while avoiding soot deposition and formation of massive carbides. To accomplish this goal, the proper gas flow rate has to be calculated. In the case of P.M. parts, more carbon can be absorbed by the part's surface because of the additional internal surface area created by pores present in the carburized case. This amount will depend on the density of the part, the densification grade of the surface layer and the stage of the surface. "as machined" or "as sintered". It is believed that enhanced gas diffusion after initial evacuation of the P.M. parts leads to faster carburization from within the pores, especially when pores are open . surface "as sintered" and interconnected . low density. A serious problem with vacuum carburizing is delivery of the carbon in a uniform manner to the work pieces. This led to the development of the different methods of carburizing gas circulation such as the pulse/pump method or the pulse/pause technique applied in SECO/WARWICK's $VacCarb^{TM}$ Technology. In both cases, each pressure change may deliver fresh carburizing atmosphere into the pores and leads to faster carburization from within the pores. Since today's control of vacuum carburizing is based largely on empirical results, presented experiments may lead to better understanding and improved control of the process.
Atmospheric pressure plasma treatment on carbon nanotube (CNT) surfaces was performed to modify reinforcement effect and interfacial adhesion of carbon fiber reinforced CNT-phenolic composites. The surface changes occurring on CNT treated with plasma were analyzed by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FT-IR). The significant improvement of wettability on CNT was confirmed by static contact angle test after plasma treatment. Such plasma treatment resulted in a decrease in the advancing contact angle from $118^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$. The interfacial adhesion between carbon fiber and CNT-phenolic composites increased by plasma treatment based on apparent modulus test results during quasi-static tensile strength. Furthermore, the proposed database offers valuable knowledge for evaluating interfacial shear strength (IFSS).

Hydrogen production can be classified based on the energy source, primary reactor type, and whether or not it emits carbon dioxide. Utilizing color representation proves to be an effective means of expressing these distinctive characteristics. Among the various clean hydrogen production techniques, there has been a growing interest in turquoise hydrogen production, which involves the decomposition of methane or other fossil fuels. This method offers advantages in terms of large-scale production and cost reduction through the sale of solid-carbon byproduct. In this study, an extensive literature review was conducted to select and analyze several promising candidates for turquoise hydrogen production processes. The efficiency and economics of these processes were evaluated using stream data reported in the literature sources. The findings indicate that the levelized cost of hydrogen production (LCOH) is significantly influenced by the sales of byproducts, specifically the solid-carbon and carbon monoxide byproducts.

We developed non-metallic electrodes that can replace metallic electrodes of the electrostatic precipitator(ESP) for the purpose of light weight, corrosion resistance, cost reduction. We manufactured three types of collection electrodes made of stainless steel (M), Carbon ink coating layer-Plastic sheet-Carbon ink coating layer (CPC), and Plastic sheet-Carbon ink coating layer-Plastic sheet (PCP). We studied the collection efficiency of a two-stage ESP using oil mist particles with and without collection stage by changing the flow rate, the material of collection electrode, and the applied voltage of the pre-charger module and the collection module. Here we measured concentrations of particles at diameters of 0.45 ㎛ (CMD; count median diameter) and 3.0 ㎛ (MMD : mass median diameter), as well as PM2.5 and PM10. As a result of the experiment, two-stage ESP had 22~25% higher collection efficiency in PM2.5 than one-stage ESP at the same applied voltage. The difference in collection efficiency by varying the materials of collection electrodes was less than 5%. The weight of the non-metallic electrode was only one eighth the weight of the metal electrode. CPC electrode had a thickness of 0.27 mm, which was 1.5 times thinner than a thickness of PCP electrode, so when the flow rate increased, the CPC electrodes couldn't be kept at equal intervals due to the fluttering unlike PCP electrodes. In addition, the PCP-CPC collection module of the present experiment followed the theoretical efficiency based on Deutsch equation and Cochet's charging theory.
Nanotechnology is the fast becoming key technology of the $21^{st}$ century. Due to its fascinating size-dependent properties, it has gained significant important in various sectors. Myths are being formed on the proverbal nanotechnology market, but the reality is the nanotechnology is not a market but a value chain. The chain comprises of - nanomaterials (nanoparticles) and nanointermediates (coatings, compounds, smart fabrics). Elastomer based nanocomposites reinforced with low volume fraction of nanofillers is the first generation nanotechnology products and it has attracted great interest due to their fascinating properties. The incorporation of nanofillers such as nanolayered silicates, carbon nanotubes, nanofibers, metal oxides or silica nanoparticles into elastomers improves significantly their mechanical, thermal, barrier properties, flame retardency etc., Extremely small particle size, high aspect ratio and large interface area yield an excellent improvement of the properties in a wide variety of the materials. Uniform dispersion of the nanofillers is a general prerequisite for achieving desired properties. In this paper, current developments in the area of elastomer based nanocomposites reinforced with layered silicate and carbon nanotube fillers are highlighted.
Sulphonated polysulphone (SPS) has been synthesized and subsequently applied as binder for graphene oxide (GO)-based electrodes for development of electrochemical supercapacitors. Electrochemical performance of the electrode was investigated using cyclic voltammetry in 1M Na2SO4 and 1M KOH solution. The fabricated supercapacitors gave a specific capacitance of 161.6 and 216.8 F/g with 215.4 W/kg and 450 W/kg of power density, in 1M Na2SO4 and 1M KOH solutions, respectively. This suggests that KOH is a better electrolyte than Na2SO4 for studying the electrochemical behavior of electroactive material, and also suggests SPS is a good binder for fabrication of a GO based electrode.
The present research was aimed at comparing performance of metallic and polymer composite shells of a typical underwater vessel of length and inner diameter of 1650 mm and 350 mm respectively, based on the critical buckling pressure for operating depth of 1000 m using ANSYS. High strength steel, aluminium alloy, titanium alloy, glass / epoxy and carbon / epoxy materials were examined. The results indicated weight savings of 46 % in carbon/epoxy and 31 % in glass / epoxy when compared with high strength steel, based on the thickness of the shell for sustaining 10 MPa buckling pressure.
