The color correction is the important process of influencing on the picture quality of the 3D stereoscopic images. Existing colorcorrecting methods handle the processing intensifying a correspondence among a left and right image using a histogram based on any one side. In case of color correction based on a histogram, it is difficult to correct tone of image, because the color temperature is not converted enough. And in this paper, the color temperature correction and color consistency correction is proposed without using histogram. The proposed color correction method by color temperature gives 3 in CIE-${\Delta}E$ for each pixel on the images captured with same illuminants and the conventional gives similar results. For color consistency, the proposed gives 9 in CIE-${\Delta}E$ on the images captured with different illuminants while the conventional gives 18. The proposed method shows better results than the conventional in color consistency processing.
In this paper we develop a novel human action recognition system based on communication between an ear-mounted Bluetooth camera and an action recognition server to aid scene recognition for the blind. First, if the blind capture an image of a specific location using the ear-mounted camera, the captured image is transmitted to the recognition server using a smartphone that is synchronized with the camera. The recognition server sequentially performs human detection, object detection and action recognition by analyzing human poses. The recognized action information is retransmitted to the smartphone and the user can hear the action information through the text-to-speech (TTS). Experimental results using the proposed system showed a 60.7% action recognition performance on the test data captured in indoor and outdoor environments.

In this paper, we describe an implementation of real-time face recognition system under ubiquitous computing environments. First, face image is captured by PDA with CMOS camera and then this image with user n and name is transmitted via WLAN(Wireless LAN) to the server and finally PDA receives verification result from the server The proposed system consists of server and client parts. Server uses PCA and LDA algorithm which calculates eigenvector and eigenvalue matrices using the face images from the PDA at enrollment process. And then, it sends recognition result using Euclidean distance at verification process. Here, captured image is first compressed by the wave- let transform and sent as JPG format for real-time processing. Implemented system makes an improvement of the speed and performance by comparing Euclidean distance with previously calculated eigenvector and eignevalue matrices in the learning process.
Rolling shutter operation of CMOS cameras can be utilized in optical camera communications in order to transmit data from an LED to mobile devices such as smart-phones. From temporally modulated light, a spatial flicker pattern is obtained in the captured image, and this is used for signal recovery. Due to the degradation of rolling shutter images caused by light smear, motion blur, and focus blur, the conventional decoding schemes for rolling shutter cameras based on the pattern width for 'OFF' and 'ON' cannot guarantee robust communications performance for practical uses. Aside from conventional techniques, such as polynomial fitting, histogram equalization can be used for blurry light mitigation, but it requires additional computation abilities resulting in burdens on mobile devices. This paper proposes a transition-based decoding scheme for rolling shutter cameras in order to offer simple and robust data decoding in the presence of image degradation. Based on the designed synchronization pulse and modulated data symbols according to the LED dimming level, the decoding process is conducted by observing the transition patterns of two sequential symbol pulses. For this, the extended symbol pulse caused by consecutive symbol pulses with the same level determines whether the second pulse should be included for the next bit decoding or not. The proposed method simply identifies the transition patterns of sequential symbol pulses other than the pattern width of 'OFF' and 'ON' for data decoding, and thus, it is simpler and more accurate. Experimental results ensured that the transition-based decoding scheme is robust even in the presence of blurry lights in the captured image at various dimming levels
Objective: Iris pattern recognition system is well developed and practiced in human, however, there is a scarcity of information on application of iris recognition system in animals at the field conditions where the major challenge is to capture a high-quality iris image from a constantly moving non-cooperative animal even when restrained properly. The aim of the study was to validate and identify Black Bengal goat biometrically to improve animal management in its traceability system. Methods: Forty-nine healthy, disease free, 3 months±6 days old female Black Bengal goats were randomly selected at the farmer's field. Eye images were captured from the left eye of an individual goat at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of age using a specialized camera made for human iris scanning. iGoat software was used for matching the same individual goats at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of ages. Resnet152V2 deep learning algorithm was further applied on same image sets to predict matching percentages using only captured eye images without extracting their iris features. Results: The matching threshold computed within and between goats was 55%. The accuracies of template matching of goats at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of ages were recorded as 81.63%, 90.24%, 44.44%, and 16.66%, respectively. As the accuracies of matching the goats at 9 and 12 months of ages were low and below the minimum threshold matching percentage, this process of iris pattern matching was not acceptable. The validation accuracies of resnet152V2 deep learning model were found 82.49%, 92.68%, 77.17%, and 87.76% for identification of goat at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months of ages, respectively after training the model. Conclusion: This study strongly supported that deep learning method using eye images could be used as a signature for biometric identification of an individual goat.

In general LPR(License Plate Recognition) in outdoor image is not so simple differently from in the image captured from manmade environment, because of geometric shape distortion and large illumination changes. this paper proposes three techniques for LPR in outdoor images captured from CCTV. At first, a serially connected multi-stage Adaboost LP detector is proposed, in which different complementary features are used. In the proposed detector the performance is increased by the Haar-like Adaboost LP detector consecutively connected to the MB-LBP based one in serial manner. In addition the technique is proposed that makes image processing easy by the prior determination of LP type, after correction of geometric distortion of LP image. The technique is more efficient than the processing the whole LP image without knowledge of LP type in that we can take the appropriate color to gray conversion, accurate location for separation of text/numeric character sub-images, and proper parameter selection for image processing. In the proposed technique we use DBN(Deep Belief Network) to achieve a robust character recognition against stroke loss and geometric distortion like slant due to the incomplete image processing.
Major deficiencies of current automation scheme including various robots for bioproduction include the lack of task adaptability and real time processing, low job performance for diverse tasks, and the lack of robustness of take results, high system cost, failure of the credit from the operator, and so on. This paper proposed a scheme that could solve the current limitation of task abilities of conventional computer controlled automatic system. The proposed scheme is the man-machine hybrid automation via tele-operation which can handle various bioproduction processes. And it was classified into two categories. One category was the efficient task sharing between operator and CCM(computer controlled machine). The other was the efficient interface between operator and CCM. To realize the proposed concept, task of the object identification and extraction of 3D coordinate of an object was selected. 3D coordinate information was obtained from camera calibration using camera as a measurement device. Two stereo images were obtained by moving a camera certain distance in horizontal direction normal to focal axis and by acquiring two images at different locations. Transformation matrix for camera calibration was obtained via least square error approach using specified 6 known pairs of data points in 2D image and 3D world space. 3D world coordinate was obtained from two sets of image pixel coordinates of both camera images with calibrated transformation matrix. As an interface system between operator and CCM, a touch pad screen mounted on the monitor and remotely captured imaging system were used. Object indication was done by the operator’s finger touch to the captured image using the touch pad screen. A certain size of local image processing area was specified after the touch was made. And image processing was performed with the specified local area to extract desired features of the object. An MS Windows based interface software was developed using Visual C++6.0. The software was developed with four modules such as remote image acquisiton module, task command module, local image processing module and 3D coordinate extraction module. Proposed scheme shoed the feasibility of real time processing, robust and precise object identification, and adaptability of various job and environments though selected sample tasks.
This paper introduces a system for mosaicking sequences of soccer images in a panoramic view for soccer game analysis. The continuous mosaic images of the soccer ground field allow the user to view a wide picture of the players' actions. The initial component of our algorithm automatically detects and traces the players and some lines. The next component of our algorithm finds the parameters of the captured image coordinates and transforms them into ground model coordinates for automatic soccer game analysis. The results of our experimentations indicate that the proposed system offers a promising method for segmenting, mosaicking, and analyzing soccer image sequences.
This paper describes effects of visual information influencing sound localization in the peripheral visual Held under dynamic conditions. Presentation experiments of an audio-visual stimulus were carried out using a movie of a moving patrol car and its siren sound. The tallowing results were obtained: first, the sound image on the timing at the beginning of the presentation was more strongly captured by the visual image than that at the end, i.e., the "beginning effect" was occurred; second, in the peripheral regions, the "beginning effect" was strongly appeared in near the fixation point of eyes.
This study proposes a new calculation method for generating real nighttime lamp-lit images. In order to improve the color appearance in the prediction of a nighttime lamp-lighted scene, the lamp-lit image is synthesized based on spectral distribution using the estimated local spectral distribution of the headlamps and the surface reflectance of every object. The principal component analysis method is introduced to estimate the surface color of an object, and the local spectral distribution of the headlamps is calculated based on the illuminance data and spectral distribution of the illuminating headlamps. HID and halogen lamps are utilized to create beam patterns and captured road scenes are used as background images to simulate actual headlamp-lit images on a monitor. As a result, the reproduced images presented a color appearance that was very close to a real nighttime road image illuminated by single and multiple headlamps.
