Non-volatile memory is approaching its fundamental limits with the Si3N4 storage layer, necessitating the use of alternative materials to achieve a higher programming/erasing speed, larger storage window, and better data retention at lower operating voltage. This limitation has restricted the development of the charge-trap memory, but can be addressed by using high-k dielectrics. The paper reviews the doping of nitrogen, titanium, and yttrium on high-k dielectrics as a storage layer by comparing MONOS devices with different storage layers. The results show that nitrogen doping increases the storage window of the Gd2O3 storage layer and improves its charge retention. Titanium doping can increase the charge capture rate of HfO2 storage layer. Yttrium doping increases the storage window of the BaTiO3 storage layer and improves its fatigue characteristics. Parameters such as the dielectric constant, leakage current, and speed of the memory device can be controlled by maintaining a suitable amount of external impurities in the device.

Spent $UO_2$ nuclear fuel discharged from a nuclear power plant (NPP) contains fission products, U, Pu, and other actinides. Due to neutron capture by $^{238}U$ in the rim region and a temperature gradient between the center and the rim of a fuel pellet, a considerable increase in the concentration of fission products, Pu, and other actinides are expected in the pellet periphery of high burnup fuel. The characterization of the radial profiles of the various isotopic concentrations is our main concern. For an analysis, spent nuclear fuels originating from the Yeonggwang-2 pressurized water reactor (PWR) were chosen as the test specimens. In this work, the distributions of some actinide isotopes were measured from center to rim of the spent fuel specimens by a radiation shielded laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) system. Sampling was performed along the diameter of the specimen by reducing the sampling intervals from 500 ${\mu}m$ in the center to 100 ${\mu}m$ in the pellet periphery region. It was observed that the isotopic concentration ratios for minor actinides in the center of the specimen remain almost constant and increase near the pellet periphery due to the rim effect apart from the $^{236}U$ to $^{235}U$ ratio, which remains approximately constant. In addition, the distributions of local burnup were derived from the measured isotope ratios by applying the relationship between burnup and isotopic ratio for plutonium and minor actinides calculated by the ORIGEN2 code.
Composite columns made of high strength materials have been used in high-rise construction owing to its excellent structural performance resulting in smaller cross-sectional sizes. However, due to the limited understanding of its structural response, current design codes do not allow the use of high strength materials beyond a certain strength limit. This paper reports additional test data, analytical and numerical studies leading to a new design method to predict the ultimate resistance of composite columns made of high strength steel and high strength concrete. Based on previous study on high strength concrete filled steel tubular members and ongoing work on high strength concrete encased steel columns, this paper provides new findings and presents the feasibility of using high strength steel and high strength concrete for general double symmetric composite columns. A nonlinear finite element model has been developed to capture the composite beam-column behavior. The Eurocode 4 approach of designing composite columns is examined by comparing the test data with results obtained from code's predictions and finite element analysis, from which the validities of the concrete confinement effect and plastic design method are discussed. Eurocode 4 method is found to overestimate the resistance of concrete encased composite columns when ultra-high strength steel is used. Finally, a strain compatibility method is proposed as a modification of existing Eurocode 4 method to give reasonable prediction of the ultimate strength of concrete encased beam-columns with steel strength up to 900 MPa and concrete strength up to 100 MPa.

The combustion characteristics of End-Burning hybrid combustor using different types of injector system are numerically investigated to visualize the temperature fields in the combustion chamber The basic characteristics of combustion with different O/F ratio is also analyzed in order to capture the main behavior of diffusion flame inside the swirl induced hybrid combustion chamber It was found that the arrangement of oxidizer injectors give strong effect on the temperature field dominating mixing between fuel and oxidizer. The results show that among five different oxidizer injectors arrangement, the counter flow injector has the highest mixing efficiency. However, the observed high wall temperature presence near the oxidizer injectors remains to be solved.
Background: Uncontrolled lumbopelvic movement leads to asymmetric symptoms and causes pain in the lumbar and pelvic regions. So many patients have uncontrolled lumbopelvic movement. Passive support devices are used for unstable lumbopelvic patient. So, we need to understand that influence of passive support on lumbopelvic stability. It is important to examine that using the pelvic belt on abdominal muscle activity, pelvic rotation and pelvic tilt. Objects: This study observed abdominal muscle activity, pelvic rotation and tilt angles were compared during active straight leg raise (ASLR) with and without pelvic compression belt. Methods: Sixteen healthy women were participated in this study. ASRL with and without pelvic compression belt was performed for 5 sec, until their leg touched the target bar that was set 20 cm above the base. Surface electromyography was recorded from rectus abdominis (RA), internal oblique abdominis (IO), and external oblique abdominis (EO) bilaterally. And pelvic rotation and tilt angles were measured by motion capture system. Results: There were significantly less activities of left EO (p=.042), right EO (p=.031), left IO (p=.039), right IO (p=.019), left RA (p=.044), and right RA (p=.042) and a greater right pelvic rotation angle (p=.008) and anterior pelvic tilt angle (p<.001) during ASLR with pelvic compression belt. Conclusion: These results showed that abdominal activity was reduced while the right pelvic rotation angle and anterior pelvic tilt angle were increased during ASLR with a pelvic compression belt. In other words, although pelvic compression belt could support abdominal muscle activity, it would be difficult to control pelvic movement. So pelvic belt would not be useful for controlled ASLR.
Phagocytosis is a fundamental process in which phagocytes capture and ingest foreign particles including pathogenic bacteria. Several oral pathogens have anti-phagocytic strategies, which allow them to escape from and survive in phagocytes. Impaired bacteria phagocytosis increases inflammation and contributes to inflammatory diseases. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influences of various agents on oral pathogenic phagocytosis. To determine phagocytosis, Streptococcus mutans, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Porphyromonas gingivalis were stained with 5-(and-6)-carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester (CFSE), and was measured using flowcytometery and confocal microscopy. The influencing factors on phagocytosis were evaluated through the pretreatment of ROS inhibitor (N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC)), lysozyme, potassium chloride (KCI) and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in THP-1 cells. Expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The phagocytosis of various bacteria increased in a MOI-dependent manner. Among the tested bacteria, phagocytosis of P. gingivalis showed the highest fluorescent intensity at same infection time. Among the tested inhibitors, the NAC treatment significantly inhibited phagocytosis in all tested bacteria. In addition, NAC treatment indicated a similar pattern under the confocal microscopy. Moreover, NAC treatment significantly increased the bacteria-induced secretion of $IL-1{\beta}$ among the tested inhibitors. Taken together, we conclude that the phagocytosis occurs differently depending on each bacterium. Down-regulation by ROS production inhibited phagocytosis and lead increased of oral pathogens-associated inflammation.
The indoor radon concentration was measured in the lecture room of the university and the radon concentration was converted to the amount related to the radon exposure using the dose conversion convention and compared with the reference levels for the radon concentration control. The effect of indoor radon inhalation was evaluated by estimating the life effective dose and the risk of exposure. To measure the radon concentration, measurements were made with a radon meter and a dedicated analysis Capture Ver. 5.5 program in a university lecture room from January to February 2018. The radon concentration measurement was carried out for 5 consecutive hours for 24 hours after keeping the airtight condition for 12 hours before the measurement. Radon exposure risk was calculated using the radon dose and dose conversion factor. Indoor radon concentration, radon exposure risk, and annual effective dose were found within the 95% confidence interval as the minimum and maximum boundary ranges. The radon concentration in the lecture room was $43.1-79.1Bq/m^3$, and the maximum boundary range within the 95% confidence interval was $77.7Bq/m^3$. The annual effective dose was estimated to be 0.20-0.36 mSv/y (mean 0.28 mSv/y). The life-time effective dose was estimated to be 0.66-1.18 mSv (mean $0.93{\pm}0.08mSv$). Life effective doses were estimated to be 0.88-0.99 mSv and radon exposure risk was estimated to be 12.4 out of 10.9 per 100,000. Radon concentration was measured, dose effective dose was evaluated using dose conversion convention, and degree of health hazard by indoor radon exposure was evaluated by predicting radon exposure risk using nominal hazard coefficient. It was concluded that indoor living environment could be applied to other specific exposure situations.
The majority of the natural gas demand in South Korea is mainly determined by the heating demand. Accordingly, there is a distinct seasonality in which the gas demand increases in winter and decreases in summer. Moreover, the degree of sensitiveness to temperature on gas demand has changed over time. This study firstly introduces changing temperature response function (TRF) to capture effects of changing seasonality. The temperature effect (TE), estimated by integrating temperature response function with daily temperature density, represents for the amount of gas demand change due to variation of temperature distribution. Also, this study presents an innovative way in forecasting daily temperature density by employing functional principal component analysis based on daily max/min temperature forecasts for the five big cities in Korea. The forecast errors of the temperature density and gas demand are decreased by 50% and 80% respectively if we use the proposed forecasted density rather than the average daily temperature density.

Raman spectrometers are studied and developed for the military purposes because of their nondestructive inspection capability to capture unique spectral features induced by molecular structures of colorless and odorless chemical warfare agents(CWAs) in any phase. Raman spectrometers often suffer from random noise caused by their detector inherent noise, background signal, etc. Thus, reducing the random noise in a measured Raman spectrum can help detection algorithms to find spectral features of CWAs and effectively detect them. In this paper, we propose a denoising autoencoder for Raman spectra with a loss function for sample efficient learning using noisy dataset. We conduct experiments to compare its effect on the measured spectra and detection performance with several existing noise reduction algorithms. The experimental results show that the denoising autoencoder is the most effective noise reduction algorithm among existing noise reduction algorithms for Raman spectrum based standoff detection of CWAs.
To get a better understanding of the effect of physicochemical properties and microstructure on $SO_2$ absorption behavior of DESs with different molar ratios of EmimCl and EG (from 2:1 to 1:2), densities (${\rho}$), viscosities (${\eta}$), speeds of sound (u), refractive indices ($n_D$), and thermal decomposition temperatures ($T_d$) of EmimCl-EG DESs were measured and used to obtain the other derived properties, such as thermal expansion coefficient (${\alpha}_p$) and activation energy for viscous flow ($E_{\eta}$). Moreover, FT-IR spectra and in situ variable-temperature NMR spectroscopy were employed to study the microstructures of DESs. Based on physicochemical and spectroscopic properties, the influence of the concentrations of EmimCl on the interactions in DESs was explored to be associated with their $SO_2$ absorption behavior. The results show that the interactions between $Emim^+$ and $Cl^-$ of EmimCl is gradually weakening with increasing the concentration of EG in DESs by forming of hydrogen bond interaction of $O-H{\cdots}Cl^-$, resulting in a decrease of ${\rho}$, ${\eta}$, u, $n_D$, and $T_d$ of DESs, and hindering the charge-transfer interaction of $SO_2$ with $Cl^-$ and deceasing $SO_2$ capture capacity. Moreover, the $SO_2$ absorption capacity of DESs is proportional to their ${\rho}$ and $E_{\eta}$, respectively.
