LLC 공진형 컨버터를 활용한 저 반복·고출력 Nd:YAG 레이저의 출력특성 (The Output Characteristics of Low Repetition·High Power Nd:YAG Laser Using LLC Resonant Converter)

  • Nd:YAG 레이저의 출력조절을 위하여 LLC 공진 컨버터를 사용하였다. ZVS(Zero Voltage Switching) 방식을 LLC 공진형 컨버터에 적용함으로써 스위칭 손실을 최소화하였다. 금속박막의 점용접과 같은 레이저가공에 있어서 단일 펄스에 대한 출력에너지가 가공특성을 결정하므로, 적절한 목표출력으로 단일펄스 당 50 [J]로 결정하였다. 따라서 레이저 출력은 출력전류를 변화시켜가면서 측정하고 분석하였다. 이 때, 전류는 커패시터의 충전전압의 크기에 따라 변한다. 이러한 결과로부터 충전 커패시터의 용량 12,000 [${\mu}F$], 반복율이 1 [Hz]일 때, 방전전압 620 [V], 방전전류 861 [A]에서 58.2 [J]의 레이저빔 최대 출력을 얻음으로써 전기에너지 입력에 대한 레이저빔 출력에너지 변환효율은 2.52%를 달성하였다.

고조파 규제값에 적합한 에어컨 전원장치 (Air-Conditioner Power Source Device to Meet the Harmonic Guide Lines)

  • To improve the current waveform of diode rectifiers, we propose a new operating principle for the voltage-doubler diode rectifiers. In the conventional voltage-doubler rectifier circuit, relatively large capacitors are used to boost the output voltage, while the proposed circuit uses smaller ones and a small reactor not to boost the output voltage but improve the input current waveform. A circuit design method is shown by experimentation and confirmed simulation. The experimental results of the proposed diode rectifier satisfies the harmonic guide lines. A high input power factor of 97(%) and an efficiency of 98[%] are also obtained. The new rectifier with no controlled switches meet the harmonic guide lines, resulting in a simple, reliable and low-cost at-to dc converters in comparison with the boost-type current-improving circuits. This paper proposes a nonlinear impedance circuit composed by diodes and inductors or capacitors. This circuit needs no control circuits and switches, and the impedance value is changed by the polarity of current or voltage. And this paper presents one of these applications to improve the input current of capacitor input diode rectifiers. The rectifier using the nonlinear impedance circuit is constructed with four diodes and four capacitors in addition to the conventional rectifiers, that is, it has eight diodes and five capacitors, including a DC link capacitor. It makes harmonic components of the input current reduction and the power factor improvement. Half pulse-width modulated (HPWM) inverter was explained compared with conventional pulse width modulated(PWM) inverter. Proposed HPWM inverter eliminated dead-time by lowering switching loss and holding over-shooting.

Differential Power Processing System for the Capacitor Voltage Balancing of Cost-effective Photovoltaic Multi-level Inverters

  • The Differential Power Processing (DPP) converter is a promising multi-module photovoltaic inverter architecture recently proposed for photovoltaic systems. In this paper, a DPP converter architecture, in which each PV-panel has its own DPP converter in shunt, performs distributed maximum power point tracking (DMPPT) control. It maintains a high energy conversion efficiency, even under partial shading conditions. The system architecture only deals with the power differences among the PV panels, which reduces the power capacity of the converters. Therefore, the DPP systems can easily overcome the conventional disadvantages of PCS such as centralized, string, and module integrated converter (MIC) topologies. Among the various types of the DPP systems, the feed-forward method has been selected for both its voltage balancing and power transfer to a modified H-bridge inverter that needs charge balancing of the input capacitors. The modified H-bridge multi-level inverter had some advantages such as a low part count and cost competitiveness when compared to conventional multi-level inverters. Therefore, it is frequently used in photovoltaic (PV) power conditioning system (PCS). However, its simplified switching network draws input current asymmetrically. Therefore, input capacitors in series suffer from a problem due to a charge imbalance. This paper validates the operating principle and feasibility of the proposed topology through the simulation and experimental results. They show that the input-capacitor voltages maintain the voltage balance with the PV MPPT control operating with a 140-W hardware prototype.

SoC 전원 관리를 위한 인덕터와 커패시터 내장형 100MHz DC-DC 부스트 변환기 (A 100MHz DC-DC Converter Using Integrated Inductor and Capacitor as a Power Module for SoC Power Management)

  • 본 논문은 SoC 전원 관리를 위한 고성능 DC-DC 부스트 변환기 설계에 관한 것이다. DC-DC 변환기에서 일반적으로 전하 축전용으로 사용되는 인덕터와 커패시터를 칩 안에 집적하기 위해 그 크기를 크게 감소시키고, 스위칭 주파수를 100MHz로 하였다. 고속 동작에서 전압 방식의 제어를 선택하여 신뢰성을 높였으며 적절한 주파수 보상으로 안정적인 동작 특성을 확보하였다. 설계한 DC-DC 변환기는 thick gate oxide 옵션이 포함된 0.18${\mu}m$ CMOS 표준 공정으로 제작하였다. 내부 필터 커패시터를 포함한 칩의 면적은 8.1$mm^2$ 이고, 제어기가 차지하는 면적은 1.15$mm^2$ 이다. 부하 전류 300mA 이상에 대하여 4V의 출력을 얻는 변환기의 최대 효율은 76% 이상, load regulation은 100mA의 변화에 대하여 0.012% (0.5mV) 의 특성을 갖는다.

3상 PFC 부스트 컨버터를 채용한 상압플라즈마 세정기용 고역률 정형파 펄스 출력형 전원장치에 관한 연구 (A Study On High Power Factor Sine Pulse Type Power Supply For Atmospheric Pressure Plasma Cleaning System with 3-Phase PFC Boost Converter)

  • 본 논문에서는 대기압 플라즈마 발생용 정현파펄스형 교류 전원 장치에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 정현파펄스형 전원장치는 기존의 LC공진을 이용한 교류 전원장치보다 높은 dv/dt를 갖게 되므로 안정적인 플라즈마 공급이 가능하며 펄스형에 비해 고조파 노이즈가 적고, 정전류 턴온-영전압 턴오프 형태로 동작하므로 매우 높은 효율을 갖는다. 또한 플라즈마 점화 기능을 강화하고 안정적인 전압제어를 위해 3상 부스트형 컨버터를 입력단에 사용하여 입력 역률이 매우 높은 시스템을 구성할 수 있다. 실험실 수준의 10kW부하시설을 사용하여 본 연구의 결과를 입증하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 현재 VVVF 직류전동차에 장착되어 있는 보조전원장치(SIV)180KVA용에 사용되는 필터콘덴서(FC) 유지보수 및 사용한도에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 차량의 장기사용에 따른 내구연한과 혼잡도 부하에 따른 가선전압 변동 및 부하변동에 대해 출력 전압값의 변화와 SIV장치내 중요소자인 GTO Thyristor, Power Transistor Module 소자가 단락되는 현상이 자주 발생되는 등 고장원인을 분석해 본 결과 보조전원 장치내 필터 FC1~4 캐패시터의 입력측 고조파 성분의 필터링이 제대로 되지 못하는 것을 알게 되었으며, 캐패시터의 장기 사용에 따른 성분변화와 외부조건에 의해 천천히 특성변화를 일으킴으로써 사전 점검방법 및 불량 시 측정하기 어렵다는 점을 착안하여 본 연구를 검토하였다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 캐패시터의 유지보수를 통한 관리와 측정방법의 개선점, 캐패시터의 수명 사용한도에 대해 검토하였다.

충전전압 가변방식을 이용한 펄스형 Nd:YAG 레이저의 출력특성에 관한 연구 (The output characteristics of pulsed Nd:YAG laser with voltage variable capacitor-charging system)

  • The pulsed Nd:YAG laser is used widely for materials processing and medical instrument etc. It is important to control the laser energy in those fields using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. In this paper, constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge inverter and Cockcroft-Walton circuit are used to charge the energy storage capacitor variably. This laser power supply is designed and fabricated which has no high-voltage transformer, less switching losses, compact size and capability in varying the laser output power. Also, the output characteristics of this Nd:YAG laser system are investigated. The tested results are described.

A Novel DC Bus Voltage Balancing of Cascaded H-Bridge Converters in D-SSSC Application

  • This paper introduces a new scheme to balance the DC bus voltages of a cascaded H-bridge converter which is used as a Distribution Static Synchronous Series Compensator (D-SSSC) in electrical distribution network. The aim of D-SSSC is to control the power flow between two feeders from different substations. As a result of different cell losses and capacitors tolerance the cells DC bus voltage can deviate from their reference values. In the proposed scheme, by individually modifying the reference PWM signal for each cell, an effective balancing procedure is derived. The new balancing procedure needs only the line current sign and is independent of the main control strategy, which controls the total DC bus voltages of cascaded H-bridge. The effect of modulation index variation on the capacitor voltage is analytically derived for the proposed strategy. The proposed method takes advantages of phase shift carrier based modulation and can be applied for a cascaded H-bridge with any number of cells. Also the system is immune to loss of one cell and the presented procedure can keep balancing between the remaining cells. Simulation studies and experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method in the balancing of DC bus voltages.

Implementation of a 35KVA Converter Base on the 3-Phase 4-Wire STATCOMs for Medium Voltage Unbalanced Systems

  • This paper discussed a transformer-less shunt static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) with consideration of the following aspects: fast compensation of the reactive power, harmonic cancelation and reducing the unbalancing of the 3-phase source side currents. The STATCOM control algorithm is based on the theory of instantaneous reactive power (P-Q theory). A self charging technique is proposed to regulate the dc capacitor voltage at a desired level with the use of a PI controller. In order to regulate the DC link voltage, an off-line Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to tune the coefficients of the PI controller. This algorithm arranged these coefficients while considering the importance of three factors in the DC link voltage response: overshoot, settling time and rising time. For this investigation, the entire system including the STATCOM, network, harmonics and unbalancing load are simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. After that, a 35KVA STATCOM laboratory setup test including two parallel converter modules is designed and the control algorithm is executed on a TMS320F2812 controller platform.

태양광 발전 시스템용 3-레벨 부스트 컨버터 제어기 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Controller Design of the Three-Level Boost Converter for Photovoltaic Power Conditioning System)

  • This research proposes a modeling and controller design of a three-level boost (TLB) converter for the implementation of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in the photovoltaic power conditioning system (PCS). Contrary to the output voltage control of the conventional controller, the Photovoltaic PCS requires an input voltage controller for MPPT operation. A TLB converter has the advantage of decreasing the inductor size and increasing efficiency compared with the existing booster converter. However, an optimal controller is difficult to design due to the complexity of the TLB operations, which have two operational modes on the duty ratio boundary of 0.5. Therefore, the unified linear model equations of the TLB converters, which can be applicable to both operational modes, are derived using linearized solar cell expressions. Furthermore, the transfer functions are obtained for the controller design. The MPPT voltage controller is designed using MATLAB SISOTOOL. In addition, a controller for capacitor voltage unbalancing is described and designed. The simulations and experimental verifications are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the small-signal analysis and control system design.
