  • The CHFG(Critical Heat Flux in Cap) test results have been evaluated to quantify the critical powers in hemispherical narrow gaps and Park's correlation has been verified. For verification of the Park's correlation, the critical powers in hemispherical narrow gaps have been measured using water at a pressure of 0.1-0.3 WPa for the hemispherical gap thickness of 1.0mm, and the heated top diameter of 238mm The measured critical powers were compared with Park's and Monde's correlation. As a results, the Park's correlation was most accurate of other correlations, however, estimated the critical powers somewhat larger than measured ones. So, it was suggested that the diameter factor in Park's correlation should be revised.

  • The major function of the nacelle cover is protecting the inside equipments. Therefore, it is required not only sufficient strength and stability but also light weight. In this paper, design loads are calculated according to the GL Wind guideline Ed. 2003. To ensure the structural safety, a composite structure is selected. The structural design is processed by two steps which are preliminary design and detail design. In the preliminary design step, a structural analysis is performed with initial thickness, 5mm. As reviewing above analysis results, weak regions of the nacelle cover reinforced using the spar cap structure which is same as the blade structure. In the analysis model, the support structure is connected with the nacelle cover and analyzed its structural safety at the same time.

  • We analysed perovskite $CH_3NH_3PbI_{3-x}Cl_x$ inverted planer structure solar cell with nickel oxide (NiO) and spiroMeOTAD as hole conductors. This structure is free from electron transport layer. The thickness is optimized for NiO and spiro-MeOTAD hole conducting materials and the devices do not exhibit any significant variation for both hole transport materials. The back metal contact work function is varied for NiO hole conductor and observed that Ni and Co metals may be suitable back contacts for efficient carrier dynamics. The solar photovoltaic response showed a linear decrease in efficiency with increasing temperature. The electron affinity and band gap of transparent conducting oxide and NiO layers are varied to understand their impact on conduction and valence band offsets. A range of suitable band gap and electron affinity values are found essential for efficient device performance.

  • Two High Tensile Strength Steel (EH47) plates with thickness of 70 mm were butt-welded together by multi-pass Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), also the hardness and welding residual stress were investigated experimentally. Based on Thermal-Elastic-Plastic Finite Element (TEP FE) computation, the thermal cycles during entire welding process were obtained, and the HAZ hardness of multi-pass butt welded joint was computed by the hardenability algorithm with considering microstructure evolution. Good agreement of HAZ hardness between the measurement and computational result is observed. The evolution of each phase was drawn to clarify the influence mechanism of thermal cycle on HAZ hardness. Welding residual stress was predicted with considering mechanical response, which was dominantly determined by last cap welds through analyzing its formation process.

  • The bending analysis of sandwich functionally graded (FG) beams under temperature circumstances is performed in this article utilizing Navier's solution-based parabolic shear deformation theory. For the first time, a comparative study has been carried out between the exponential and sigmoidal sandwich FGM beams under thermal conditions. During this investigation, temperature-dependent material characteristics are postulated. Both symmetric and unsymmetric sandwich examples have been studied. The effect of gradation law, gradation coefficient, and thickness scheme on beam behavior has been thoroughly investigated. Three possible temperature combinations at the top and bottom surfaces of the beam are also investigated. Beams with a higher proportion of ceramic to metal are shown to be more resistant to thermal stresses than beams with a higher proportion of metal.

  • Settlement of the piled raft can be estimated even after years of completing the construction of any structure over the foundation. This study is devoted to carry out numerical analysis by the finite element method of the consolidation settlement of piled rafts over clayey soils and detecting the dissipation of excess pore water pressure and its effect on bearing capacity of piled raft foundations. The ABAQUS computer program is used as a finite element tool and the soil is represented by the modified Drucker-Prager/cap model. Five different configurations of pile groups are simulated in the finite element analysis. It was found that the settlement beneath the piled raft foundation resulted from the dissipation of excess pore water pressure considerably affects the final settlement of the foundation, and enough attention should be paid to settlement variation with time. The settlement behavior of unpiled raft shows bowl shaped settlement profile with maximum at the center. The degree of curvature of the raft under vertical load increases with the decrease of the raft thickness. For the same vertical load, the differential settlement of raft of ($10{\times}10m$) size decreases by more than 90% when the raft thickness increased from 0.75 m to 1.5 m. The average load carried by piles depends on the number of piles in the group. The groups of ($2{\times}1$, $3{\times}1$, $2{\times}2$, $3{\times}2$, and $3{\times}3$) piles were found to carry about 24%, 32%, 42%, 58%, and 79% of the total vertical load. The distribution of load between piles becomes more uniform with the increase of raft thickness.

  • In the present paper, the static bending and buckling responses of functionally graded carbon nanotubes-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) beam under various boundary conditions are investigated within the framework of higher shear deformation theory. The significant feature of the proposed theory is that it provides an accurate parabolic distribution of transverse shear stress through the thickness satisfying the traction-free boundary conditions needless of any shear correction factor. Uniform (UD) and four graded distributions of CNTs which are FG-O, FG-X, FG- and FG-V are selected here for the analysis. The effective material properties of FG-CNTRC beams are estimated according to the rule of mixture. To model the FG-CNTRC beam realistically, an efficient Hermite-Lagrangian finite element formulation is successfully developed. The accuracy and efficiency of the present model are demonstrated by comparison with published benchmark results. Moreover, comprehensive numerical results are presented and discussed in detail to investigate the effects of CNTs volume fraction, distribution patterns of CNTs, boundary conditions, and length-to-thickness ratio on the bending and buckling responses of FG-CNTRC beam. Several new referential results are also reported for the first time which will serve as a benchmark for future studies in a similar direction. It is concluded that the FG-X-CNTRC beam is the strongest beam that carries the lowest central deflection and is followed by the UD, V, Λ, and FG-O-CNTRC beam. Besides, the critical buckling load belonging to the FG-X-CNTRC beam is the highest, followed by UD and FG-O.

  • The characteristics of blood flow and the interaction between the blood vessel and blood flow play important roles in plaque cap rupture and the growth of atherosclerosis which may lead directly to a heart attack or a stroke. In this study, carotid arteries with different stenoses have been numerically simulated to investigate the wall shear stress(WSS) and the elastic motion of the vessel. Blood flow has been treated as physiological, laminar and incompressible flow. To model the shear thining behavior of the blood, the Carreau-Yasuda model has been employed but the viscoelasticity of blood has not been considered. The results show that the WSS of $severe(75\%)$ stenosis is much higher than those of $25\%\;and\;50\%$ stenosis in the region of stenosis. With the increase in the stenosis thickness, the expansion ratio of the center of the stenosis decreases while the expansion ratio of the upstream region of the stenosis increases.
