  • The PMU (Payload Management Unit) is the main subsystem for the management, control and power supply of the MSC (Multi-Spectral Camera) Payload operation. It is the most important function for the electro-optical camera system that performs the Non-Uniformity Correction (NUC) function of the raw imagery data, rearranges the data from the CCD (Charge Coupled Device) detector and output it to the Data Compression and Storage Unit (DCSU). The NUC board in PMU performs it. In this paper, the NUC board system is described in terms of the configuration and the function, the efficiency for non-uniformity correction, and the influence of the data compression upon the peculiar feature of the CCD pixel. The NUC board is an image-processing unit within the PMU that receives video data from the CEV (Camera Electronic Unit) boards via a hotlinkand performs non-uniformity corrections upon the pixels according to commands received from the SBC (Single Board Computer) in the PMU. The lossy compression in DCSU needs the NUC in on-orbit condition.

  • In this study, we have developed an algorithm by attaching a camera at the end-effector of industrial six-axis robot in order to determine position and orientation of the camera system from cartesian coordinates. Cartesian coordinate as a starting point to evaluate for suggested algorithm, it was easy to confront increase of orientation vector for a linear line point that connects two points from coordinate space applied by recursive least square method which includes previous data result and new data result according to increase of image point. Therefore, when the camera attached to the end-effector has been applied to production location, with a calibration mask that has more than eight points arranged, this simulation approved that it is possible to determine position and orientation of cartesian coordinates of camera system even without a special measuring equipment.

  • In this paper, we design a heart rate measurement system using a web camera. In order to measure the heart rate, face image information is acquired and classified. The face image data is collected from web camera. The heart rate is measured using the collected face image data. We design a function to measure heart rate using input of face information using a web camera in non-contact manner. We design a function that reads face information and estimates heart rate by analyzing face color. An experiment was performed to compare the non-contact heart rate with the actual measured heart rate. The heart rate measurement system using a web camera proposed in this paper is a technology that can be used in various fields. It will be used in sports fields that require heart rate measurement at a low cost.

  • In this work, new smart phone based moving target detection is proposed. In order to implement the task, methods of real time image transmission from network camera, motion detecting algorithm and its effective implementation are also addressed. The network camera transfers image data by MJPEG format which contains various information such as data and IP address, and the smart phone separates the image data received through a WiFi module. Later, the image data is converted to a Bitmap image format, and with the help of the embedded OpenCV library on a smart phone and algorithm, it was found that the moving object was identified effectively in terms of real time monitoring and detection.

  • This paper describes a Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system based on the radar driven fusion with camera. The objective of FCW system is to provide an appropriate alert with satisfying the evaluation scenarios of US-NCAP and a driver acceptance. For this purpose, this paper proposed a data fusion algorithm and a collision warning algorithm. The data fusion algorithm generates information of fusion target depending on the confidence of camera sensor. The collision warning algorithm calculates indexes and determines an appropriate alert-timing by using analysis results of manual driving data. The FCW system with the proposed data fusion and collision warning algorithm was investigated via scenarios of US-NCAP and a real-road driving. It is shown that the proposed FCW system can improve the accuracy of an alarm-timing and reduce the false alarm in real roads.

  • Optical camera communication (OCC) is an extension of Visible Light Communication. Different from traditional visible light communication, optical camera communications is an almost no additional cost technology by taking the advantage of build-in camera in devices. It was became a candidate for communication protocol for IoT. Camera module can be easy attached to IoT device, because it is small and flexible. Furthermore almost smartphone equip one or two camera for both back and font side with high quality and resolution. It can be utilized for receiving the data from LED or positioning. Actually, OCC combines illumination and communication. It can supply communication for special areas or environment where do not allow Radio frequency such as hospital, airplane etc. There are many concept and experiment be proposed. In this paper we proposed utilizing Android smart-phone camera for receiver and introduce new approach in modulation scheme for LED at transmitter. It also show how Manchester coding can be used encode bits while at the same time being successfully decoded by Android smart-phone camera. We introduce new data frame format for easy decoded and can be achieve high bit rate. This format can be easy to adapt to performance limit of Android operator or embedded system.

  • A high-resolution camera is a precise optical system. Its vibrations during transportation and launch, together with changes in temperature and gravity field in orbit, lead to different degrees of defocus of the camera. Thermal refocusing is one of the solutions to the problems related to in-orbit defocusing, but there are few relevant thermal refocusing mathematical models for systematic analysis and research. Therefore, to further research thermal refocusing systems by using the development of a high-resolution micro-nano satellite (CX6-02) super-resolution camera as an example, we established a thermal refocusing mathematical model based on the thermal elasticity theory on the basis of the secondary mirror position. The detailed design of the thermal refocusing system was carried out under the guidance of the mathematical model. Through optical-mechanical-thermal integration analysis and Zernike polynomial calculation, we found that the data error obtained was about 1%, and deformation in the secondary mirror surface conformed to the optical index, indicating the accuracy and reliability of the thermal refocusing mathematical model. In the final ground test, the thermal vacuum experimental verification data and in-orbit imaging results showed that the thermal refocusing system is consistent with the experimental data, and the performance is stable, which provides theoretical and technical support for the future development of a thermal refocusing space camera.

  • The primary goal of any communication spacecraft is to provide communication in variety of frequency bands based on mission requirements within the Indian mainland. Some of the spacecrafts operating in S-band utilizes a 6m or larger aperture Unfurlable Antenna (UFA for S-band links and provides coverage through five or more S-band spot beams over Indian mainland area. The Unfurlable antenna is larger than the satellite and so the antenna is stowed during launch. Upon reaching the orbit, the antenna is deployed using motors. The deployment status of any deployment mechanism will be monitored and verified by the telemetered values of micro-switch position before the start of deployment, during the deployment and after the completion of the total mechanism. In addition to these micro switches, a camera onboard will be used for capturing still images during primary and secondary deployments of UFA. The proposed checkout system is realized for validating the performance of the onboard camera as part of Integrated Spacecraft Testing (IST) conducted during payload checkout operations. It is designed for acquiring the payload data of onboard camera in real-time, followed by archiving, processing and generation of images in near real-time. This paper presents the architecture, design and implementation features of the acquisition, processing and Image generation system for Camera onboard spacecraft. Subsequently this system can be deployed in missions wherever similar requirement is envisaged.

  • Recently, the ground-based laser profiler is used for acquisition of 3D spatial information of a rchaeological objects. However, it is very difficult to measure complicated objects, because of a relatively low-resolution. On the other hand, texture mapping can be a solution to complement the low resolution, and to generate 3D model with higher fidelity. But, a huge cost is required for the construction of textured 3D model, because huge labor is demanded, and the work depends on editor's experiences and skills . Moreover, the accuracy of data would be lost during the editing works. In this research, using the laser profiler and a non-calibrated digital camera, a method is proposed for the automatic generation of 3D model by integrating these data. At first, region segmentation is applied to laser range data to extract geometric features of an object in the laser range data. Various information such as normal vectors of planes, distances from a sensor and a sun-direction are used in this processing. Next, an image segmentation is also applied to the digital camera images, which include the same object. Then, geometrical relations are determined by corresponding the features extracted in the laser range data and digital camera’ images. By projecting digital camera image onto the surface data reconstructed from laser range image, the 3D texture model was generated automatically.
