As with cities, all components of a campus must be carefully calibrated to provide the facilities, services like energy, water, electricity, information and communication; classrooms, libraries and laboratories for working; transportation networks and systems for movement of persons, goods, and services; athletic and other facilities for health and competition; places to eat, recreate and socialize; places to display and store works of arts; spaces for the performing arts' spaces for active assembly or solitary pondering. The goal of this study is how to observe the campus planning and development as a part in the context of the community. This study was taken into account neighborhood concerns and Harvard design guidelines. As an observer for the university's northern campus edge, this study suggests in the context of a long and sometimes turbulent history of dialogue and negotiations between Harvard University and first host community, Agassiz which is one of Cambridge's thirteen neighborhoods.

Large access providers (ISPs) are seeking for new types of business agreements and pricing models to manage network costs and monetize better the provision of last-mile services. A typical paradigm of such new pricing norms is the proliferation of paid peering deals between ISPs and content providers (CPs), while on top of this, some ISPs are already experimenting with usage-based tariffs, usually through data-plans, instead of the typical fixed-based charging. In this work we define as common platform, the infrastructure in which a single ISP transacts with several CPs through peering agreements. In this context, we examine whether, and under which market conditions, the profitability of the involved stakeholders improves when the establishment of this platform is accompanied by a monetary compensation from the CPs to the ISP (paid peering), v.s. a scenario where their deal is a typical settlement-free one. In both cases, we assume that the ISP implements a usage-based access pricing scheme, implying that end-users will pay more for higher transaction rates with the CPs. Our framework captures some of the most important details of the current market, such as the various business models adopted by the CPs, the end-users' evaluation towards the ISP's and CPs' level of investments and the traffic rates per transaction for the offered services. By analysing the equilibrium derived by a leader-follower game, it turns out (among other practical takeaways) that whether or not the profitability of a CP improves, it highly depends on whether its business model is to sell content, or if it obtains its revenue from advertisements. Finally, we extract that consumer surplus is considerably higher under paid peering, which in turn implies improved levels of social welfare.

Precast concrete elements are widely used in the construction of buildings and civil infrastructures as they provide higher construction quality and requires less construction time. However, any abnormalities in precast concrete surfaces such as non-flatness or distortion, can influence the erection of the elements as well as the functional performance of the connections between elements. Thus, it is important to undertake surface flatness and distortion inspection (SFDI) on precast concrete elements before their delivery to the construction sites. The traditional methods of SFDI which are conducted manually or by contact-type devices are, however, time-consuming, labor-intensive and error-prone. To tackle these problems, this study proposes techniques for SFDI of precast concrete elements using laser scanning technology. The proposed techniques estimate the $F_F$ number to evaluate the surface flatness, and estimate three different measurements, warping, bowing, and differential elevation between adjacent elements, to evaluate the surface distortion. The proposed techniques were validated by experiments on four small scale test specimens manufactured by a 3D printer. The measured surface flatness and distortion from the laser scanned data were compared to the actual ones, which were obtained from the designed surface geometries of the specimens. The validation experiments show that the proposed techniques can evaluate the surface flatness and distortion effectively and accurately. Furthermore, scanning experiments on two actual precast concrete bridge deck panels were conducted and the proposed techniques were successfully applied to the scanned data of the panels.
Residence College(RC) is a system that provides an integrated space and education program for living and education, which is different from the dormitory that has been used only in the existing simple residential space. Recently, universities have adopted RC to respond to changes in higher education environment and to provide differentiated education and to cultivate large talent in the 4th industry. However, RC and RC education programs in Korea are somewhat distant from the comprehensive and integrated programs found in foreign cases, and the development of RC education programs is insufficient and practical research is also lacking. In order to cope with the rapid changes in the educational environment, this study will introduce the RC education programs in Korea by introducing the RC. The purpose of this study is to compare the RC education programs of Cambridge University and Wellesley College in the USA and to suggest RC education program and effective management plan reflecting the new paradigm which is being discussed recently in our university education.
Modelling and fitting the spectral energy distribution (SED) of galaxies or regions of galaxies is one of the most useful methods available to the astronomer nowadays. By modelling the SEDs and comparing the models to the observations, we can collect important information on the physical processes at play in the formation and evolution of galaxies. The models allow to follow the evolution of the galaxies from their formation on. The versatility of code is crucial because of the diversity of galaxies. The analysis is only relevant and useful if the models can correctly reproduce this diversity now and across (as best as possible) all redshifts. On the other hand, the code needs to run fast to compare several million or tens of millions of models and to select the best (on a probabilistic basis) one that best resembles the observations. With this important point in mind, it seems logical that we should efficiently make use of the computer power available to the average astronomer. For instance, it seems difficult, today, to model and fit SEDs without a parallelized code. We present the new Python version of CIGALE SED fitting code and its characteristics. CIGALE comes in two main flavours: CIGALE Classic to fit SEDs and CIGALE Model to create spectra and SEDs of galaxies at all redshifts. The latest can potentially be used in conjunction with galaxy evolution models of galaxy formation and evolution such as semi-analytic ones.
For the measurement of the fat contents and nutritional status of urban High School girls, an intensive examination was conducted on a total of 2,085 students from 13 to 19 years of age groups. Total body fat cotents were measured by Skin-fold thickness with a Skin-fold Caliper manufactured by Cambridge Scientific Industrial Inc. at four sites of the body and it was calculated by Kim's regression equation. And Heights, Weights, and Chest circumferences were measured with Martin's Anthropometer. As the results of this study, the following conclusions were obtained: 1. The averages of heights, weights and chest girths were 153.1 cm, 46.2 kg and 76.6 cm. respectively. 2. The mean Skin-fold thicknesses of each site measured with a Lange skin-fold Caliper were: Sub-scapular: $13.44\;mm{\pm}4.41\;mm$. Abdominal : $10.55\;mm{\pm}4.02\;mm$. Lumbar: $10.56\;mm{\pm}4.06\;mm$. Upper arm: $15.35\;mm{\pm}4.37\;mm$. Total Average: $12.46\;mm{\pm}4.48\;mm$. 3. The average Skin-fold thicknesaes by age were as follow: ·9.02 mm at 13 years of age. 10.04 at 14, 11.82 at 15, 14.43 at 16, 15.12 at 17, 16.48 at 18, and 16.61 at 19 respectively. 4. The mean of fat contents calculated according to regression equation was 11.04kg. (9.14 at 13, 9.98 at 14, 11.12 at 15, 11.74 at 16, 12.21 at 17, 12.96 at 18, 13.29 at 19 respectively.)
Pulmonary blood vessels with diameters of $200{\sim}400\;{\mu}m$ produce considerably more force in response to vasoconstrictor drugs than those which are either smaller or larger. We have therefore investigated whether or not hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction (HPV) is more powerful in vessels of these diameters. We have also looked at the possibility that vessels from different regions of the lung respond differently. To do this we have grouped vessels according to their location within the lung as well as by size. We used a small vessel myograph (Cambustion AM10, Cambridge, UK) to study 208 preconstricted $(1\;{\mu}M\;PGF_{2{\alpha}})$ small pulmonary arteries $(300{\sim}800\;{\mu}m$ diameter when stretched to a tension equivalent to 25 mmHg transmural pressure) from 39 rats anaesthetized with 2% inspired halothane. A biphasic contraction was observed in response to hypoxia (ca. 25 mmHg $Po_2).$ The magnitudes of both the first, transient, phase (PT, peak tension) and of the second, sustained, phase (SST, steady state tension) were measured. The latter was measured 40 min after the start of hypoxia. The first phase was most pronounced in vessels with an average diameter of 423 ${\mu}m$ while the second phase was most pronounced in larger vessels (mean diameter 505 ${\mu}m).$ These maximal responses were all seen in vessels somewhat larger than reported by others. The responses of smaller vessels $(400{\sim}500\;{\mu}m)$ did not depend upon their location within the lung, but those of larger vessels $(600{\sim}700\;{\mu}m)$ showed regional differences. Those from the right lobe and those from the base of the lung gave the largest responses. It was especially noticeable that large vessels (631 ${\mu}m$ diameter) from the base of the right lung gave the biggest responses. Thus HPV seems to occur not in a uniform manner, dependent solely to the size of vessels, but it also depends to some degree on the region of the lung from which vessels have been taken. Furthermore, our results suggest that larger vessels, as well as smaller ones, may contribute significantly to HPV.
Coronavirus disease, COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019), caused by SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), has a higher case fatality rate in European countries than in others, especially East Asian ones. One potential explanation for this regional difference is the diversity of the viral infection efficiency. Here, we analyzed the allele frequencies of a nonsynonymous variant rs12329760 (V197M) in the TMPRSS2 gene, a key enzyme essential for viral infection and found a significant association between the COVID-19 case fatality rate and the V197M allele frequencies, using over 200,000 present-day and ancient genomic samples. East Asian countries have higher V197M allele frequencies than other regions, including European countries which correlates to their lower case fatality rates. Structural and energy calculation analysis of the V197M amino acid change showed that it destabilizes the TMPRSS2 protein, possibly negatively affecting its ACE2 and viral spike protein processing.
Purpose: The pathology of peri-implantitis is still not fully understood and there have been recent challenges to the consensus on its aetiology and pathology, especially in comparison with periodontitis. The assessment of biomarkers allows a comparison of the pathology of these diseases. The aim of this systematic review was to answer the research question: "Is there a difference in the biomarkers associated with peri-implantitis compared with periodontitis in adult humans?" Methods: Electronic databases were searched and screened, and a manual search was also undertaken. The inclusion criteria were adults with peri-implantitis who had been compared to adults with periodontitis with the outcome of biomarkers assessed via biopsies or crevicular fluid samples in primary or secondary care settings, as recorded in case-control, case series and retrospective, prospective and cross-sectional observational studies. Two reviewers independently screened titles and abstracts and assessed full text articles for eligibility and inclusion. Both reviewers independently extracted data and assessed risk of bias. Differences in biomarker levels were the primary outcome and a narrative review was undertaken due to the heterogeneity of studies. Results: In total, 2,374 articles were identified in the search, of which 111 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility and 13 were included in the qualitative synthesis. Five of the 13 included studies were deemed to be at high risk of bias, with the others having moderate risk. All studies were cross-sectional and performed at university hospitals. Nine of the 13 included studies found significant differences in the levels of biomarkers or their ratios between periimplantitis and periodontitis. Four of the studies found no significant differences. Conclusions: Within the limitations of the included studies, it appears that there may be a difference in biomarker levels and ratios between peri-implantitis and periodontitis, suggesting that these disease processes are somewhat distinct.

We study the stellar populations of the brightest group galaxies (BGGs) in groups whose halos have different dynamical states, using observational data from the GAMA survey. The two independent indicators to probe the dynamical state of the halo are the magnitude gap between two most luminous galaxies (∆M12) and offset between BGG and the luminosity center (Doffset) of the group. Such indicators complement each other in identifying relaxed and unrelaxed galaxy groups in our samples. We find that the BGGs of unrelaxed groups have significantly bluer NUV-r colours than in relaxed groups. This is also true at fixed sersic index. We find the bluer colours cannot be explained away by differing dust fraction, suggesting there are real differences in their stellar populations. SFRs derived from SED-fitting tend to be higher in unrelaxed systems. This could be partly because there is a greater fraction of BGGs with non-elliptical morphology, but also because unrelaxed systems are expected to have larger numbers of mergers, some of which may bring fuel for star formation. The SED-fitted stellar metallicities of BGGs in unrelaxed systems also tend to be higher, perhaps because the building blocks of the unrelaxed systems were more massive and had more time to enrich themselves. We find that the ∆M12 parameter is the most important parameter behind the observed differences in the relaxed/unrelaxed groups. We also find that groups selected to be unrelaxed using our criteria tend to have higher velocity offsets between the BGG and their group.
