The objective of the study is to verify a new calibration equation of dry density and water contents with TDR. Since the traditional calibration equation was proposed, some research to develop a new calibration equation has been conducted by several researchers. As traditional calibration equation is difficult to be applied for loose soil and fine-grained soil at high water contents, this study developed a new calibration equation. Thus, this study introduces a new calibration equation and its applicability by comparing TDR test results with conventional test results. Based on the analyses, the calibration equation for water content has large error. A new calibration equation was proposed and it showed more than 95% accuracy for estimating water content of soil.
Calibration capability was evaluated using the reference-grade platinum resistance thermometer (PRT) in the temperature range of $-50^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$ for the national calibration centers. The reference-grade PRT was calibrated at the several fixed points, which was composed by the freezing points of Sn, In, the melting point of Ga and the triple point of water and Hg, before and after the round-robin test (RRT) experiments. The temperature scale of reference-grade PRT was compared to the local standard PRT's using the system of the national calibration centers. $E_{n}$ values was calculated by the temperature difference between the reference-grade PRT and the local standard PRT, and the best measurement capability. Finally, the capability of the national calibration centers was evaluated by the $E_{n}$ values.
Calibration capabilities for thermometer calibration by comparison method were assessed using high-precision industrial platinum resistance thermometers (IPRT). It was found in the performance assessment that out of 31 laboratories who participated, 28 laboratories resulted magnitude of En number less than 1 at every calibration points they submitted results in the range from 50 to $500^{\circ}C$. The results of about 75% of the laboratories showed the difference from the assigned values less than 1/10 of the tolerance level of the class B IPRT. This indicates that the participating calibration laboratories performed with satisfactory level that was enough to calibrate IPRTs to significant precision. The sensors used in this work were manufactured and chosen by the criteria of long-term instability less than 4 mK and hysteresis less than 8 mK in the temperature range used in this work. Furthermore, the change in the resistance of the sensors in the calibration temperature range were less than the uncertainty of the calibration, 25 mK (k=2).

In this paper, radiometric calibration of a FTIR spectrometer for passive remote sensing application was introduced and verified. Radiometric calibration is a significant signal processing procedure to retrieve the object radiance from the measured spectrum. The object radiance is measured and registered distorted by the detector's responsivity dependent on wavelength and instrument self-emission. Radiance of two temperature points, hot temperature and cold temperature, from a well-controlled blackbody was measured and used to obtain the scale factor and offset factor which are required for radiometric calibration. For gas phase C2H5OH. radiometric calibration was done and verified through comparison of its emission line width and intensity with the standard spectrum.

3 Dimensional measurement system using camera and laser slit-ray is studied. Precise calibration technique in this system is suggested. Calibration is accomplished with calibration die, calibration block and robot. For obtaining calibration parameters, the equations are solved using least square error method from a great many calibration points to reduce measuring error. Continuous measurement is possible for the object which is larger than one frame of camera. The efficiency and usability are proved by applying to the tire profile measuring system which measures tire profile using robot and this system.
Flow meters in partly filled pipes are set up and run in Korea now days, but there are no standard calibration procedures for the flow meters in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025, the standard calibration procedure based on the standard calibration procedures for flow meter in closed conduits and the technical notes of flow meter's makers is developed. the measurement uncertainty of the calibration for the flow meter in partly filled pipes is evaluated.
The object of this work was to investigate the influence of growing district and harvest year on calibration for sweetness (Brix) determination of Fuji apple fruit using near infrared (NIR) reflectance spectroscopy, and to develop the robust calibration across these variation. The calibration models was based on wavelength range of 1100∼2500 nm using a stepwise multiple linear regression. A calibration model by sample set of one growing district was not transferable to other growing districts. The combined calibration (data of three growing districts) predicted reasonable well against a population set drawn from all growing districts (SEP=0.69, Bias=0.075). A calibration model by sample set of one harvest year was not also transferable to other harvest years. The combined calibration (data of three harvest years) predicted well against a population set drawn from all harvest years (SEP=0.53, Bias=0.004).

This paper introduces a methodology of active calibration of a camera pose (orientation and position) using the images of cylindrical objects that are going to be manipulated. This active calibration method is different from the passive calibration where a specific pattern needs to be located at a certain position. In the active calibration, a camera attached on the robot captures images of objects that are going to be manipulated. That is, the prespecified position and orientation data of the cylindrical object are transformed into the camera pose through the two consecutive image frames. An ellipse can be extracted from each image frame, which is defined as a circular-feature matrix. Therefore, two circular-feature matrices and motion parameters between the two ellipses are enough for the active calibration process. This active calibration scheme is very effective for the precise control of a mobile/task robot that needs to be calibrated dynamically. To verify the effectiveness of active calibration, fundamental experiments are peformed.

If the camera plane is nearly parallel to the calibration board on which objects are defined, most of existing calibration approaches such as Tsai's radial-alignment-constraint method cannot be applied. Recently, for such an ill-conditioned case, Zhuang & Wu suggested the linear two-stage calibration algorithm assuming that the exact values of focal length and scale factor are known a priori. In this paper, we developed an iterative two-stage algorithm starts with initial guess fo the two parameters to determine the value of the others using Zhuang & Wu's method. In the second stage, the two parameters are locally optimized. This process is repeated until any improvement cannot be expected any more. The performance comparison between Zhuang & Wu's method and our algorithm shows the superiority of ours. Also included are the computational results for the effects of the distribution and the number of calibration points on the calibration performance.
Odometry using wheel encoder is a common relative positioning technique for wheeled mobile robots. The major drawback of odometry is that the kinematic modeling errors are accumulated when the travel distance increases. Therefore, accurate calibration of odometry is required. In several related works, various schemes for odometry calibration are proposed. However, design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration were not considered. More accurate odometry calibration results can be achieved by using appropriate test track because the position and orientation errors after the test are affected by the test track. In this paper, we propose the design guidelines of test tracks for odometry calibration schemes using experimental heading errors. Numerical simulations and experiments clearly demonstrate that the proposed design guidelines result in more accurate calibration results.
