  • The single phase line start permanent magnet motor has high efficiency and power factor when it operates synchronous speed. The rotor structure is composed of permanent magnet and cage bars. The motor is accelerated by rotor bars and synchronized by magnet and rotor saliency. but starting torque is disturbed by magnet braking torque so, to obtain good starting performance and synchronizing capability. the design of proper permanent magnet is required.   • This research has been performed to provide fundamental design aspects of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators(PMSGs) for a kilowatt class wind turbine. When it comes to kilowatt class wind turbines, the typical type of generators are Axial Flux Permanent Magnet(AFPM) generators. However, Radial Flux Permanent Magnet(RFPM) generators have been optimally designed to study the output characteristics of a kilowatt class wind turbine in Graduate School of Wind Energy, POSTECH. An existing squirrel-cage rotor has been modified for another newly designed permanent magnet rotor to utilize the commercially existing stator rotor. Electromagnetic analysis utilizing Finite Element Methods tools(ANSYS, MAXWELL 2D) has been applied to analyze the system.

  • A three dimensional multibody modeling of a launcher system was developed and dynamic characteristics of the system was carried out. All the components were modeled as rigid bodies, All the components of system, ie; chassis, turret, cage and suspension parts, are modeled as rigid. The force interaction between the ground and tire was modeled as a point contact model. The factors were selected as cause and effect diagram of the MINITAB. To see effect of the stiffness, damping, mass at the launcher system, several cases of suspension parameters were compared and optimal values were selected. The stiffness and the damping coefficient were selected as design variables to minimize the required time for the next fire. The dynamic simulation was carried out using the ADAMS, and the MINITAB was employed for data analysis.

  • A magnetic field generator for small animal study was designed and constructed. For calculation of magnetic fields inside the cage, a three-dimensional calculation program was made. Using this, optimum electric current ratio and position of each coil were determined. Meanwhile, inductance of the generator was calculated for design of power supply. The field measurement results of the manufactured generator showed that the difference between maximum and minimum magnetic field at the living floor was less than 2%.

  • In this paper, the design of rotor shape was performed for improvement of start-up characteristics and efficiency in single-phase LSPM. In order to improve the start-up characteristics, shape of rotor aluminium cage bar was changed. Through arrangement of permanent magnets and installation of flux barriers, it was performed torque ripple reduction and efficiency improvement. Cogging torque and back-EMF is calculated by the no-load analysis, start-up time is calculated by the start-up state analysis, efficiency and torque ripple is calculated by steady state analysis. The characteristics of the motor were calculated through FEM.

  • This paper is concerned with the modeling and active controller design for elevator lateral vibrations. To this end, a dynamic model for the lateral vibration of the elevator consisting of a supporting frame, cage and active roller guides was derived using the energy method. Free vibration analysis was then carried out based on the equations of motion. Active vibration controller was designed based on the PID control algorithm and applied to the numerical model. Rail irregularity were considered as external disturbance in the numerical simulations. The numerical results show that the active vibration control of elevator is possible.

Behavior of exterior reinforced concrete beam-column joints including a new reinforcement

  • Six reinforced concrete beam-column joint specimens were constructed and tested under reverse cyclic loading to failure. The six specimens were divided into three groups, each group representing a different joint design. The main objectives of this study are to investigate the response of joints with three different design, reinforcement detailing and beam strengths, and to evaluate and compare the responses of beam-column joints reinforced with traditional steel rebar and a recently proposed steel reinforcement called prefabricated cage system (PCS). Each of the three test specimen designs included equivalent amount of steel reinforcement and had virtually identical details. The results of the research show that the PCS reinforced joints had a slightly higher strength and significantly larger deformation capacity than the equivalent rebar reinforced joints.

  • The line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor has a high efficiency and an advantage in constant speed operation regardless of the effect of load variation. However, it is difficult to predict the performance of characteristics accurately, because of the unbalanced starting torque with the initial starting position of the rotor and the generation of a break torque. In this paper the dynamic characteristics of the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor are described and compared with those of the squirrel-cage induction motor through the simulation to find the characteristics of the permanent magnets and the rotor bars in the line-start permanent magnet synchronous motor. Finally this paper gives the comparison between the simulation results and the experimental results.

  • The Robust Controller for scan-loop is designed using LQG/LTR Methodology. The design and analysis of spiral, rosette and conical scan patterns are discussed. The perfermance and robustness of the LQG/LTR controller are analyzed through experiments and cpmpared with those of the P-controller. Especially to improve the scan performance at large look angle, the cage coil output is linearized using a binomial equation. It is demonstrated that the scan-loop system by the LQG/LTR control is very robust to phase uncertainties.

3차원 패터닝을 위한 레이저 헤드설계 및 열해석 (Laser Head Design and Heat Transfer Analysis for 3D Patterning)

  • A laser head was designed for micro-scale patterning and joining applications. The target feature size of the pattern was $100{\mu}m$, and optics were designed to perform the target. Two singlet lenses were combined to minimize the chromatic aberration, and the geometry of the lenses was calculated by using the raytracing method with a commercial software program. As a restriction of lens design, the focal length was set at 100mm, and the maximum diameter of the lens or beam size was limited to 10mm for the assembly in the limited cage size. The maximum temperatures were calculated to be $1367^{\circ}C$, $1508^{\circ}C$, and $1905^{\circ}C$ for 10, 12, and 15 Watts of power, respectively. A specially designed laser head was used to compensate for the distance between the object and the lens. The detailed design mechanism and 3D data were presented. The optics design and detailed performance of the lens were analyzed by using MTF and spot diagram calculation.
