열수 플룸 검출을 위한 CTD Cast와 CTD Tow-yo 방법 비교 (Comparison of CTD Cast and CTD Tow-yo Methods for Detecting Hydrothermal Plume)

  • Directly searching for undiscovered hydrothermal vent sites is inefficient due to the practical difficulty of comprehensively imaging vent fields. Thus, most searches for hydrothermal vent sites rely on the detection of hydrothermal plumes from water column observation. Detecting and measuring the hydrothermal plumes are the most efficient way to infer the presence and distribution of hydrothermal vents. Both the array of vertical casting and lateral towing are the most common methods to discover hydrothermal plumes. In this study, we compared results of cast and tow-yo operations along the same section of a spreading center with a distance of 20.5 km in the North Fiji Basin for mapping hydrothermal plumes. Operation of CTD tow-yo provides a detailed pattern of plumes which enable us to locate the hydrothermal vents. On the other hand, identification of hydrothermal activity can be determined effectively by CTD cast with additional analysis of geochemical tracers. Reduction in the operating time is another advantage of CTD cast operation, especially for regional-scale survey. Our results show that the combination of CTD cast and tow-yo would improve the efficiency of the hydrothermal plume survey to locate new hydrothermal vent sites.

해양포유류 부착 CTD 관측 자료의 품질 관리 방법에 관한 고찰 및 사례 연구 (Quality Control Methods for CTD Data Collected by Using Instrumented Marine Mammals: A Review and Case Study)

  • 'Marine mammals-based observations' refers to data acquisition activities from marine mammals by instrumenting CTD (Conductivity-Temperature-Depth) sensors on them for recording vertical profiles of ocean variables such as temperature and salinity during animal diving. It is a novel data collecting platform that significantly improves our abilities in observing extreme environments such as the Southern Ocean with low cost compared to the other conventional methods. Furthermore, the system continues to create valuable information until sensors are detached, expanding data coverage in both space and time. Owing to these practical advantages, the marine mammals-based observations become popular to investigate ocean circulation changes in the Southern Ocean. Although these merits may bring us more opportunities to understand ocean changes, the data should be carefully qualified before we interpret it incorporating shipboard/autonomous vehicles/moored CTD data. In particular, we need to pay more attention to salinity correction due to the usage of an unpumped-CTD sensor tagged on marine mammals. In this article, we introduce quality control methods for the marine mammals-based CTD profiles that have been developed in recent studies. In addition, we discuss strategies of quality control specifically for the seal-tagging CTD profiles, successfully having been obtained near Terra Nova Bay, Ross Sea, Antarctica since February 2021. It is the Korea Polar Research Institute's research initiative of animal-borne instruments monitoring in the region. We anticipate that this initiative would facilitate collaborative efforts among Polar physical oceanographers and even marine mammal behavior researchers to understand better rapid changes in marine environments in the warming world.

간호학생의 비판적 사고성향과 임상실습 스트레스 및 임상실습수행능력 (Critical thinking disposition, stress of clinical practice and clinical competence of nursing students)

  • Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship among Critical Thinking Disposition (CTD), stress of clinical practice and clinical competence in Korean nursing students. Methods: Participants were 407 baccalaureate nursing students (3rd and 4th grades) in Korea. Variables included CTD, stress of clinical practice, clinical competence, and demographic variables. Data was analyzed by frequencies, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression. Results: Clinical competence positively correlated with CTD, but negatively correlated with stress of clinical practice. The regression model explained 25.6% of clinical competence. The significant predictors of clinical competence were intellectual eagerness, intellectual fairness in CTD, conflict with patients, and clinical environment in stress of clinical practice. Conclusions: CTD and stress of clinical practice contribute to nursing student's clinical competence. Therefore, efforts to encourage nursing student's CTD, increase stress management skills, especially in conflict with patients, and build a supportive clinical environment should be made to strengthen clinical competence.

  • 주파수 비선택적 Rayleigh 페이딩 채널에서 준 최적 빔 형성과 페이딩 상관이 폐루프 송신 안테나 다이버시티(CTD) 시스템에 주는 영향을 분석하였다. 이동국에서 채널을 완벽하게 예측하는 것은 빠르게 변하는 채널의 페이딩으로 매우 어렵기 때문에 각각의 송신 안테나에 불완전한 가중치를 곱하게 된다. 이 불완전한 가중치는 준 최적의 빔을 형성하게 되고, CTD 시스템의 성능을 저하시킨다. 무선 채널의 페이딩 상관 역시 다이버시티 이득을 감소시키는 하나의 요소이다. CTD 시스템의 비트오율을 채널 예측 에러, 채널 상관계수, 궤환지연, 그리고 페이딩 지수의 함수로 해석적으로 유도하였다. 해석 결과 채널 예측에러가 채널상관보다 시스템성능에 더 많은 영향을 주는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Mainchain NMR Assignments and secondary structure prediction of the C-terminal domain of BldD, a developmental transcriptional regulator from Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2)

  • BldD, a developmental transcription factor from Streptomyces coelicolor, is a homodimeric, DNA-binding protein with 167 amino acids in each subunit. Each monomer consists of two structurally distinct domains, the N-terminal domain (BldD-NTD) responsible for DNA-binding and dimerization and the C-terminal domain (BldD-CTD). In contrast to the BldD-NTD, of which crystal structure has been solved, the BldD-CTD has been characterized neither in structure nor in function. Thus, in terms of structural genomics, structural study of the BldD-CTD has been conducted in solution, and in the present work, mainchain NMR assignments of the recombinant BldD-CTD (residues 80-167 of BldD) could be achieved by a series of heteronuclear multidimensional NMR experiments on a [$^{13}C/^{15}N$]-enriched protein sample. Finally, the secondary structure prediction by CSI and TALOS+ analysis using the assigned chemical shifts data identified a ${\beta}-{\alpha}-{\alpha}-{\beta}-{\alpha}-{\alpha}-{\alpha}$ topology of the domain. The results will provide the most fundamental data for more detailed approach to the atomic structure of the BldD-CTD, which would be essential for entire understanding of the molecular function of BldD.

국내영역에서 셀전달지연 추정 및 peak-to-peak CDV 노드별 할당 (Estimation of CTD and Peak-to-Peak CDV Allocation to Nodes in Domestic Region)

  • CBR 소스 트래픽에 대한 ATM 교환기와 광대역 망종단장치의 셀전달지연을 측정하여 국내영역에서의 셀전달지연을 추정하였다. 추정결과 I.356의 할당원칙에 의한 국내영역의 셀전달지연 목표치를 만족하였다. Chernoff 누적방법에 기초한 peak to peak CDV 할당방법을 제안하고 국내영역의 노트들에 적용하였다. 수치해석 결과 전송경로상에 놓인 노드수와 각 노드에서의 CDV가 증가하는 경우에 제안된 할당방법이기존의 균등할당 방법에 비해 정확도가 개선되었다.

  • RNA polymerase II carboxyl-terminal domain (pol II CTD) phosphatases are a newly emerging family of phosphatases that are members of DXDX (T/V). The subfamily includes Small CTD phosphatases, like SCP1, SCP2, SCP3, TIMM50, HSPC129 and UBLCP. Extensive study of SCP1 has elicited the diversified roles of the small C terminal domain phosphatase. The SCP1 plays a vital role in various biological activities, like neuronal gene silencing and preferential Ser5 dephosphorylation, acts as a cardiac hypertrophy inducer with the help of its intronic miRNAs, and has shown a key role in cell cycle regulation. This short review offers an explanation of the mechanism of action of small CTD phosphatases, in different biological activities and metabolic processes.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present design recommendations intended to reduce the risk of cumulative trauma disorders(CTD) at the Osram Slvania, Inc. The CTD risk index score is a method which quantifies the risk factors to CTD incidence, namely extreme postures, high force elements, frequent damaging hand motions, and other miscellaneous factors. The risk index score quantified the jobs as a single composite value by weighting the scores for each risk factor. Jobs were prioritized for capital outlays in workstation redesign, and the factors of highest risk within each job could be identified. Three jobs which presented the greatest risk of CTD incidence were redesigned ergonomically.

Rician 페이딩 채널에서 최적검파 및 선택합성 다이버시티 기법을 도입한 16QAM 신호의 오율 특성 (Error Performance of 16 QAM Signal with Optimum Threshold Detection and SC Diversity Techniques in Rician Fading Channel)

  • 본 논문에서는 Rician 페이딩 채널에서 16 QAM 신호에 대한 최적 검파(OTD) 기볍을 제안하고 선택 합성 다이버시티를 도입할 때와 도입하지 않을 때 16 QAM 신호에 대한 최적 검파(OTD)시의 오율 성능을 해석하 였다. 그리고 최적 검파(OTD)의 오율 성능을 기존의 검파(CTD)시의 오융 성능과 비교하였다. 선택 합성 다이버시티 수신을 행할 경우, 오율이 $10_5$이고 페이딩 심도의 값 K가 5에서 30까지 변할 때 본 논문에서 제안하는 최적 검파(OTD) 기법이 기존의 검파(CTD)시보다 CNR면에서 1.8-3.2[dB]의 성능개선 이 있었다. 수치 해석 결과로부터, 제안하는 최적 검파(OTD)의 성능이 기존의 검파(CTD)에 비해 Rician 페이딩 채널 에서 우수하고, 최적 검파에 선택 합성 다이버시티 기법을 도입하면 Rician 페이딩에 대해 우수한 대웅책이 되리라는것을 알 수 있었다.

Discrimination between RNAP IIA and IIO in Preinitiation Complex Assembly and Tyrosine Phosphorylation of the Carboxy Terminal Domain

  • Multiple phosphorylation of the carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest subunit in RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) is thought to play an important role in the transcription cycle. The preinitiation complex in a partially purified complete transcription system suggested that RNA polymerase IIA containing unphosphorylated CTD is involved in complex assembly, whereas RNA polymerase IIO containing Ser and Thr phosphorylated CTD is not involved in preinitiation complex assembly. Recently a minimal transcription system was developed which requires chemically defined minimal components for its transcription: TBP, TFIIB, TFIIF, RNAP II and a supercoiled adenovirus-2 major late promoter (Ad-2 MLP). It would be using interesting to determine the consequence of CTD phosphorylation on preinitiation complex formation using the minimal transcription system. Contrary to the results from the partially purified complete transcription system, both RNA polymerase IIA and IIO are equally recruited in the preinitiation complex formation. The discrepancy may result from the two different assays used to determine complex formation, the use of chemically undefined complete and defined minimal transcription systems. This implicates that some factors in the complete transcription system are involved in the distinction between RNAP IIA and IIO in complex assembly. In addition multiple tyrosine phosphorylation of the CTD of RNAP II was prepared with c-Abl kinase and its recruiting ability in the preinitiation complex was examined. Compare with Ser and Thr phosphorylated RNAP IIO, Tyr phosphorylated RNAP IlOy forms a stable preinitiation complex in both the minimal and complete transcription systems. Based on these results, it seems that tyrosine phosphorylation of the CTD is important in the transcription cycle on the special subset of class-II promoter or has a different role in the transcription process.
