Characteristics of Exhaust Emissions and Particle Size Distribution using Biofuel Blended Diesel Fuel in CRDI Diesel Engine with CPF (CPF를 장착한 CRDI 디젤엔진에 바이오 혼합연료 사용에 따른 배출가스 특성 및 입자수분포 특성)

  • We measured emission characteristics of CRDI diesel engine equipped with a commercial CPF. Experimental parameters adopted a neat diesel fuel, a blend of diesel fuel with 20% biodiesel, a blend of diesel fuel with 15% biodiesel and 5% ethanol. The experiments were carried out to measure the emission and engine performance according to ESC 13-mode cycles. The maximum torque with biodiesel blend fuel is slightly lower than that of neat diesel fuel in the entire the 13-mode cycles, and 5% ethanol and 15% biodiesel blend fuel is slightly higher than that of neat diesel fuel. THC and CO emissions of the biofuel blended diesel fuel were slightly increased and decreased, and mean conversion efficiencies of THC and CO on the commercial CPF were achieved about 70$\sim$87% in the ESC 13-mode. From the measurement by the Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer(SMPS), the total number and mass of nano-sized particles by a commercial CPF were decreased about 97.8% and 96.8 % in the range of the nano-size from 10.6 to 385nm, respectively.

Emission and heat recovery characteristics of heat recovery and combustor-type CO2 generator for greenhouses (온실용 축열 연소기형 이산화탄소 발생기의 배기 및 열회수 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of after-treatment equipment and thermal storage devices for a heat recovery and combustor-type $CO_2$ generator fuelled a kerosene. To reduce the levels of harmful exhaust gases produced by a $CO_2$ generator, a catalyzed particulate filter(CPF) has been selected as an after-treatment device, by considering back pressure and exhaust gas temperature. The CO conversions of the catalyzed SiC filter(full plugging) were 92%, and the concentration of PM(particulate matter) was near ambient. A thermal recovery device was used to recover 13% of the heat energy from the exhaust gas through heat exchangers installed on the exhaust line of the $CO_2$ generator. 69% of the moisture within the exhaust gases was removed by condensing water, in order to minimize excessive humidity within the greenhouse.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study for failure examples of emission gas recirculation and air control and catalyzed particulate filter system in diesel engine vehicle. The first example, the researcher found the fact that the much engine oil came into the intake manifold causing diaphragm damage of EGR valve. The engine oil entered into combustion chamber of engine so that a car emit the polluted exhaust gas when driving. The second example, the researcher certified the sticking phenomenon of carbon and foreign substance with the throttle flap so that the exhaust fumes discharged exhaust port. The third example, the regeneration function don't activated to not detect the temperature of exhaust gas because of damage in the sensor. Thus, the researcher must meticulously manage his car not in order to take place the problem of environmental pollution.
