Development of Remote Control System based on CNC Cutting Machine for Gradual Construction of Smart Factory Environment (점진적 스마트 팩토리 환경 구축을 위한 CNC 절단 장비 기반 원격 제어 시스템 개발)

  • The technological advances such as communication, sensor, and artificial intelligence lead smart factory construction. Smart factory aims at efficient process control by utilizing data from the existing automation process and intelligence technology such as machine learning. As a result of constructing smart factory, productivity increases, but costs increase. Therefore, small companies try to make a step-by-step transition from existing process to smart factory. In this paper, we have proposed a remote control system that support data collection, monitoring, and control for manufacturing equipment to support the construction of CNC cutting machine based small-scale smart factory. We have proposed the structure and design of the proposed system and efficient sensing data transmission scheme. To check the feasibility, the system was implemented for CNC cutting machine and functionality verification was performed. For performance evaluation, the web page access time was measured. The results means that the implemented system is available level.

PLC and Arduino CNC Control for Comparison of 2D Outputs (2D 출력물 비교를 위한 PLC와 아두이노 CNC 제어)

  • As the market size of 3D printers increases, the precision of the printout and the speed of operation by the motor are very important issues. In this parer, G-code of each output was generated using a CURA program to compare whether the output of the PLC equipment is the same as that of the Arduino CNC. And after conversion to NC File, a pen was attached to each device to output a result to A4 paper. As a result, the output time was measured to be 1m 39s for PLC equipment and 2m 5s for Arduino CNC. In addition, it was confirmed that the 2D output was equally from the two equipments.

  • The background of appearing MMS is to cope with the difficulty that occurred in constructing CIM with multi-vendor production devices such as CNC, PLC and robot. But so far the popularized use of MMS service in machine shop is not generalized because of economical and environmental reason. In this paper to solve this problem the CNC_VMD gateway for 3 types of heterogeneous machine tools in which MMS support is not available is developed and its performance is evaluated in shop floor having CIM environment. The developed VMD has the functions such as MMS service, driver for CNC interface and supporting for network. Non-MMS compatible machine tool can be MMS-compatible by using the developed gateway with CNC_VMD.

Decision Factors on Free-form Concrete Panel Sizes Produced by CNC Machines (CNC machine에 의해 생산 가능한 FCP 크기의 결정요인)

  • Demands for free-form buildings are on the rise, but such building designs require most cost and longer construction schedule, with less constructability due to challenges in construction member production and installation. FCP production technology has been developed using CNC machine in a bid to resolve the difficulties of member production. Exterior finishing panels of free-form building design must be divided in size and shape that can be produced by CNC machine. To solve this problem, constraints of CNC machine and correlations between CNC machine and panel need to be reviewed. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze decision factors on free-form concrete panel sizes produced by CNC machines. Through this study, FCP size can be optimized, which in turn can lead to improved FCP productivity and aesthetical quality of free-form building designs determined by the pattern of exterior finishing panels. CNC machine-enabled free-form concrete panel production technology will apply on site in the future, which will not only maximize the economic benefits of the technology but also support shorter construction schedule and better constructability.

  • This paper is a study on modeling of an NFC antenna to be inserted into a steel pallet for conveying selected good products through a vision system to a threaded screw from CNC equipment. The CNC equipment used here incorporates the information communication technology (ICT) corresponding to the Internet of Things (IoT), and the smart factory system technology that produces information by exchanging information freely in two directions by connecting the POP corresponding to the service Internet is evolved Equipment. Therefore, it is possible to collect position information on the threaded workpiece by applying NFC antenna designed considering iron pallet used for material management so as to grasp estimated completion time and actual production amount according to production instruction from existing analog type equipment to POP monitoring system And investigated its characteristics.

  • FCP requires different curvatures and shapes according to the method of division, and it is necessary to manufacture a formwork accordingly. FCP production equipment consists of CNC equipment and side shape control equipment. This can be implemented in various shapes of upper, lower, and side surfaces. In the side shape control equipment, it is implemented as a variable side formwork. Among the required performance of the variable side formwork, there is stiffness against side pressure, which needs to be verified. Therefore, in this study, the FCP fabrication experiment is conducted with the developed variable side formwork. By analyzing the error in the shape of the fabricated FCP, the lateral pressure resistance capability of the side form is measured and verified.

Prediction Model of CNC Processing Defects Using Machine Learning (머신러닝을 이용한 CNC 가공 불량 발생 예측 모델)

  • This study proposed an analysis framework for real-time prediction of CNC processing defects using machine learning-based models that are recently attracting attention as processing defect prediction methods, and applied it to CNC machines. Analysis shows that the XGBoost, CatBoost, and LightGBM models have the same best accuracy, precision, recall, F1 score, and AUC, of which the LightGBM model took the shortest execution time. This short run time has practical advantages such as reducing actual system deployment costs, reducing the probability of CNC machine damage due to rapid prediction of defects, and increasing overall CNC machine utilization, confirming that the LightGBM model is the most effective machine learning model for CNC machines with only basic sensors installed. In addition, it was confirmed that classification performance was maximized when an ensemble model consisting of LightGBM, ExtraTrees, k-Nearest Neighbors, and logistic regression models was applied in situations where there are no restrictions on execution time and computing power.

  • The three-dimensional complex curvature of the airfoil complicates the manufacture and repair of gas-turbine components. As a result of the developments in computer technology since the early 1990s, CNC-based technologies for machine tools and related programs have been increasingly applied in the gas turbine industry. In particular, fiveaxis simultaneous machines with adaptive functions have proven its excellent flexibility and productivity due to the capability in determining the 3D data from the unknown curvature. A well-organized robot system with eight-axis simultaneous control can lead to powerful standardization and high productivity. We summarize and review CNC technologies and their applications in the gas turbine industry, with a discussion of the manufacture and repair of gas turbine parts.

  • 금형공장의 생산 일정관리에 있어서 실제 가공작업에 대한 실적데이터의 집계는 매우 중요하지만, 이러한 작업상황을 기록하는 것에 대해서 현장 작업자는 비협조적이고 반감을 갖고 있는 실정이다. 현장에서는 작업자의 개입없이 CNC 장비의 컨트롤러와의 직접적인 인터페이스를 통해서 신호를 추출하고 자동으로 작업상황을 파악할 수 있는 시스템을 구축하려고 시도하고 있지만, 컨트롤러 메이커마다 다르게 적용해야 하고 많은 비용을 요구한다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구에서는 저가의 PC 카메라를 장비에 설치하여 가공상황에 대한 동영상을 수집하고 영상처리 알고리즘을 적용하여 가공시간을 집계하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 CNC 컨트롤러에 독립적으로 운용되며 저렴하게 시스템을 구축할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 무인가공과 유인가공 상황에 시범적으로 적용 및 운영함으로써 시스템의 활용가능성을 살펴보았다.

  • 금형이나 부품절삭가공 등에 사용하고 있는 공작기계(밀링, 선반)는 Gcode라는 좌표값에 따라 공작기계를 동작시킨다. 공작기계가 많을 경우에는 휴대용 데이터 캐리어(data carrier) 이용하여 각각의 공작기계에 Gcode 데이터를 다운로딩 하고 있다. 현재에는 이러한 불편함을 해소하기 위하여 고가의 최신기술을 도입한 UTP, Wi-Fi, USB, CF 등을 기반으로 Gcode 데이터를 전송하는 시스템을 개발하고 있지만, 과거에 구입한 구형장비의 경우에는 RS-232를 사용하고 있어 데이터 전송이 불편함이 있다. 본 논문에서는 ATmega128을 활용하여 WGTE(Wireless Gcode Transfer Equipment)를 개발하여 시중에 상용화 되고 있는 고가의 장비를 대신할 수 있는 블루투스(bluetooth) 기반의 WGTE를 개발하고자 한다.
