SAR has provided weather independent images on land and sea surface, which can be used for extracting various useful informations. Recently attempts to estimate wind field parameters from SAR images over the oceans have been made by various groups over the world. Although scatterometer loaded in ERS-1 and ERS-2 observes the global wind vector field at spatial resolution of 50 Km with accuracies of $\pm$2m/s in speed, the spatial resolution may not be good enough for applications in coastal regions. It is weil known the sea surface roughness is closely correlated to the wind field, but the wind retrieval algorithms from SAR images are yet in developing stage. Since the radar backscattering properties of the SAR images are principally the same as that of scatterometer, some previous studies conducted by other groups report the success in mesoscale coastal wind field retrievals using ERS SAR images. We have tested SWA (SAR Wind Algorithm) and CMOD4 model for estimation of wind speed using an ERS-1 SAR image acquired near Cheju Island, Korea, in October 11, 1994. The precise estimation of sigma nought and the direction of wind are required for applying the CMOD4 model to estimate wind speed. The wind speed in the test sub-image is estimated to be about 10.5m/s, which relatively well agrees to the observed wind speed about 9.0m/s at Seoguipo station. The wind speed estimation through the SWA is slightly higher than that of CMOD4 model. The sea surface condition may be favorable to SWA on the specific date. Since the CMOD4 model requires either wind direction or wind speed to retrieve the wind field, we should estimate the wind speed first using other algorithm including SWA. So far, it is not conclusive if the SWA can be used to provide input wind speed data for CMOD4 model or not. Since it is only initial stage of implementing the wind field retrieval algorithms and no in-situ observed data is currently avaliable, we are not able to evaluate the accuracy of the results at the moment. Therefore verification studies should be followed in the future to extract reliable wind field information in the coastal region using ERS SAR images.
An experimental research investigation of the fracture properties of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete is reported. Fibers used in this experiment were two types, monofilament and fibrillated polypropylene fibers. Fiber length was 19 mm, and volume fractions were 0, 1, 2, and 3%. Also, as initial notch depths influence the fracture properties of fiber reinforced concrete, the notch depth ratios by specimen height were 0.15, 0.30 and 0.45. The main objective of this experimental program is to obtain the load-deflection and the load-CMOD curves, to investigate the fracture properties of the polypropylene fiber reinforced concretes. Therefore, the flexural specimen testings on the four-point bending were conducted. Then, the load-load point displacement and the load-crack mouth opening displacement curves were measured. The effects of different volume fractions of the monofilament and the fibrillated polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete on the compressive strength, flexural strength and toughness, stress intensity factor, and fracture energy were investigated through the experimental results.

In this study, material properties of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (FRHSC) with the compressive strength of about 120MPa were modeled. Steel fiber content of 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0% was considered as experimental variable. First of all, compressive strength tests were carried out to determine compressive characteristics of concrete, and compressive stress-strain curves were modeled. For conventional concrete with moderate compressive strength, the stress-strain curves are in the form of parabolic curves, but in the case of high strength concrete reinforced with steel fiber, the curves increase linearly in the form of the straight line. In addition, to understand the tensile properties of FRHSC, the crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) test was performed, and the tensile stress-CMOD curve was calculated through inverse analysis. When the steel fiber content increased from 1.0% to 1.5%, there was a significant difference of tensile strength. However, when the amount of steel fiber was increased from 1.5% to 2.0%, there was no significant difference of tensile strength, which might result from the poor dispersion and arrangement of steel fiber in concrete.
A USW based diagnostic procedure is presented for estimating the depth of surface-breaking cracks. The diagnosis is demonstrated on seven lab-scale SFRC beam specimens, which are subjected to the CMOD controlled three-point bending test to create real bending cracks. Then, the recorded multiple ultrasonic signals are examined with the signal processing techniques, including wavelet transform and two-dimensional Fourier transform, to investigate the relationships between the crack depth and two diagnostic indices, namely the attenuation coefficient and dispersion index (DI). Finally, the reliabilities of these indices for depth estimation are verified with the visually measured crack depths as well as the crack features obtained with a digital image processing algorithm. It is found that the DI outperforms the attenuation coefficient in depth estimation, where this index displays good agreement with the visual inspection for 86% of the inspected specimens.

In this paper, the flexural creep behavior of hooked-end steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete was evaluated to investigate the steel fiber content influence on long-term behavior of flexural members. An experimental program consisted of nine prismatic beam specimens with dimensions of 150 × 150 × 600mm reinforced with different contents of steel fiber (0, 0.75 and 1.5% at the volume fraction). To introduce flexural creep loading to notched prismatic beam specimens, a four-point bending test setup was used. The sustained load with 40% of the flexural strength was applied by means of a lever system and controlled by a load cell for 90 days. During sustained loading, crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) was monitored. Conventional flexural test after creep tests were carried out to evaluate the residual capacity of each specimen. Test results showed that steel fiber content has a significant effect on the flexural creep behavior of high-strength concrete and long-term flexural load with 40% of flexural strength doesn't generate negative effects on the residual capacity of steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete.
Based on the experiment results, the damage and fracture behavior of concrete at the ages of 1d, 2d, 7d and 28d, in three-point bending and uniaxial tensile tests, were simulated with a finite element program, ABAQUS. The critical stress intensity factor $K_{IC}^s$ and the critical crack tip opening displacement ($CTOD_C$) of concrete were calculated with effective-elastic crack approach for the three-point bending test of grade C30 concrete. Based on the crack band model, a bilinear strain-softening curve was derived to simulate the LOAD-CMOD curves and LOAD-Displacement curves. In numerical analysis of the uniaxial tension test of concrete of grade C40, the damage and fracture mechanics were combined. The smeared cracking model coupling with damaged variable was adopted to evaluate the onset and development of microcracking of uniaxial tensile specimen. The uniaxial tension test was simulated by invoking the damage plastic model which took both damage and plasticity as inner variables with user subroutines. All the numerical simulated results show good agreement with the experimental results.
In this study, fracture tests were carried out in order to investigate the fracture behavior of SFRC(Steel Fiber Peinforced Concrete) with initial cracks. The relationships between loading. strain, mld-span deflections and CMOD(Crack Mouth Opening Displacement) of the beams were observed under the three point loading system. The effect of the fiber content and the initial crack ratio on the concrete fracture behavior were studied and the fracture toughness, the critical energy release ratio and the fracture energy were also calcul ated from the test results. From the test results, it was known that when the fiber contents are between 0.5% and 1.0%, and 1.5% the average fracture energy of SFRC specimens is about 7~10 times. and about 15 times better than that of the plam concrete specimens respectively.ively.

If we use the microwave of SAR, we can observe on the ocean in spite of bad weather, day and night time. Sea surface images on the ocean of SAR have a lot of information on the atmospheric phenomena related to surface wind vector. Information of wind speed which is extracted from SAR images is used variously. Wind direction data and sigma nought value are put in the CMOD which can extract wind information in order to estimate sea surface wind from SAR images. Wind spectrum which is extracted from SAR always presents opposed two points of $180^{\circ}$ because of applying to 2D-FFT. These ambiguities should be decided by position of land, wind direction or numerical model. Previously, we converted into sigma nought after extracting Digital Number from RadarSat-1 SAR using ENVI4.0, thus, it took a long time because every process was manual. Therefore, we converted sigma nought by matlab code after making matlab code. After that, we are extracting wind direction from sigma nought. Now, to decide wind direction needs further study because wind direction has $180^{\circ}$ ambiguity.
