Surveillance Cameras such as CCTV easily found in places requiring security and the prevention of crimes such as public institutions, banks, etc. play an important role as they prevent all sorts of crimes, and provide a decisive clue fix settling a criminal case. But, in case that a far-off person is photographed, an original image should be enlarged to identify the person. And as for the technique of enlarging an image, it is important to enlarge and restore it close to its original image rather than to merely magnify it. For the enlargement and restoration of an image, techniques called interpolation are used; as for interpolation methods known hitherto, however, the higher the magnifying power is, the more deteriorated the quality of an image becomes to the extent that the image cannot be identified. Therefore, in this paper, we are going to propose a new technique whereby the face outline in an image is vectorized and restored by means of FDP(Facial Definition Parameter) standardized by the MPEG-4 SNHC FBA group, and an image is restored to have better quality than images restored with the existing interpolation.
The correlation between black hole mass and stellar velocity dispersion provides an important clue on the black hole growth and galaxy evolution. In the case of AGN, however, it is extremely difficult to measure stellar velocity dispersions in the optical since AGN continuum dilutes stellar absorption features. In contrast, stellar velocity dispersions of active galaxies can be measured in the near-IR, where AGN-to-star flux ratio is much smaller. Expecting that more stellar velocity dispersion measurements will be available using future near-IR facilities, it is crucial to test whether the stellar velocity dispersions measured from the near-IR spectra are consistent with those measured from the optical spectra. For a sample of 35 nearby galaxies, for which optical stellar velocity dispersion measurements and dynamical black hole masses are available, we obtained high quality H-band spectra, using the TripleSpec at the Palomar 5-m Telescope, in order to calibrate the stellar velocity dispersions and define the $M_{BH}-sigma_*$ relation in the near-IR. Based on the spatially resolved kinematics, we correct for the rotation component and determine the luminosity-weighted stellar velocity dispersion of the spheroid component in each galaxy. In this presentation, we will show the comparison between optical and near-IR stellar velocity dispersion measurements and define the $M_{BH}-sigma_*$ relation based on uniformly measured stellar velocity dispersion in the near-IR.
As network provides diverse functionalities recently, many rpotocol standards have become complex and many implementations have appeared. Such trends require us to test th econformance of implementations, called the conformance testing. Many researches have been performed on generating test sequence and on fualt masking base don T,U,D,W methods. At this jpoint, te new problem is suggeste dwhich is calle dthe completenes s criteria. The test sequences for the conformance testing have come up with this problem as well as fault masking. In this paper, we suggest the method of generating the preverified test sequence which can avoid the completeness criteria problem. The preverified test sequence is much more reliable than others by using the preverified edge. For the reliability of conformance testing, we define the immunity of the test sequence and provide the clue for the analysis of the test results using the immunity. The analysis of the results makes it possible for us to test the implementation again with more reliability. Also, the preverified test sequence is flexible so that it is combined with the fault-tolerant sequence for fault masking.
Human nature, life, mind and spirit have very important meanings for Oriental medical science. This is because understanding human mind and spirit not only makes treatment of people easier and more accessible but also provides us a clue for finding out something we lost. As a consequence of investigating various classic books by ancient medical practitioners and Taoist scholars s as follows: l. Mind and spirit were valued very highly in Oriental medical science, and this can be found in classic books like , , , and . 2. To cure people, acquirement of detailed knowledge of mind and spirit should be preceded. 3. The Taoist school regarded mind, spirit, human nature and life as critical agents of health care and perceived that they were indispensable for going back to The Great Emptiness(Nothingness before the First Cause), the ultimate goal of Taoist learning. 4. Although human nature, life, mind and spirit have different names and different users, it is like theory and practice and we can see that ancient sages used them all in the same context of natural law.
The vocabulary of modern grand hotels' interior designs reflects western design patterns, showing its nostalgia for modern architecture. And it also contains the trace of past designs implanted by others then, expressing the hardships of Korean history. Like this, the past architectural style distorted under the Japanese imperialistic rule has continued to exist until now without any significant changes, because there has been little effort to figure out the history of modern interior designs. And also there has been the lack of data and aesthetic descriptions about the modern interior designs that contain the historical nature of society. Therefore, this study will review the interior design of modern buildings, which trace back to the fawning of the Korean Interior Design. And it aims to understand the hotel interior's expressive characteristics and historical meanings by paying a particular attention to its lost parts. And it also alms to have a significant meaning in taking the first step toward a clue of the history of Korean modern interiors by systematically putting in order the ever-disappearing materials of modern hotel interiors.
Taliesin West is a meaningful historic site in architecture field, because its place had still been existing only one in the world as a ideal architectural community for working and living as well as learning by doing for Taliesin Fellowships and others based on F. L. Wright's idea of Organic Architecture. The main purpose of this study was to follow up the architectural thought and its construction shown in F. L. Wright's 'Taliesin West'. A study on the key notes are as follows; 1) The key-clue of the construction background for Taliesin West was based on the project of 'Complex Campus Building' which was early planed by F. L. Wright. 2) A basic design idea for Taliesin West was admiring from its own site characters as well as the Experimental construction methods and materials. 3) Design motive of Taliesin West was based on American Indian's movable shelter which called 'Tepee.' 4) A construction of F. L. Wright's temporary studio, Ocotilla, was a good opportunity to construct for Taliesin West which construction methods, covered and framed, were same as Ocotilla. 5) A concept idea of the master plan for Taliesin West came from combining Taliesin's Hillside Home School and Complex Campus Building project. 6) Construction of Taliesin West was a final accomplished place as F. L. Wright's utopia architecture and community.
This study has to do with the architectural exchanges between the ancient Korea and China. There are two parts in this paper. The first part is concerned with bibliographical and archeological studies between two regions. The latter part is to compare and syudy the architectural style of china with the architectural style of BAEGJE in those days. At any rate, this paper is related to the first part of them. The most important purpose of this paper is more clearly to inquiry the BAEGJE Architecture. BAEGJE Architecture is the most insufficient in researches of the era of Three Kingdoms' architecture of Korea until now. Because the architectural Matrrials is also the most insufficient condition in Three Kindoms, in order to inquiry the architectural style of BAEGJE clearly, we will be able to get the clue as inquring the relations of the chinese which they exchanged most frequently. The first part of this paper is $appraoc{\sim}ed$ in two methods of the study. One is the biblilographical research and the other is the archeological research. The writer could find that there were many exchage relations in the bibliographocal and archeological fieds, as a result of this study. The writer could confirm that there were nearly coexisting similiar styles of the Architecture.
On behalf of the royal women, SangGung(尙宮:The head of female servants in the palace) and NaIns(內人: Female servants caring for royal families in the palace) were dispatched in order to attend a funeral at the royal tomb. The NaInGaGa(內人假家) is the temporary building for SangGung and NaIns in the royal tomb. It is comprised of lodgings for them and also workrooms and warehouses to prepare ritual offering for the dead King or Queen. In the early Joseon dynasty, the NaInGaGa was utilized until a funeral at the royal tomb. Since 1674, NaInGaGa for the 3 years-period lamentation was started constructing separately. At these processes, the plan and placement of NaInGaGa was changed. This study based on the SanReungDoGam-EuiGwae (山陵都監-儀軌: The report on constructing royal tomb). The SanReungDoGam-EuiGwae written since 1800 have illustration about NaInGaGa. The illustration and explanation about NaInGaGa become a important clue that make suppose detailed space of NaInGaGa.
Galaxy morphology is involved complex effects of both secular and non-secular evolution of galaxies. Although it is a final product of a galaxy evolution, it may give a clue for the process that the galaxy suffer. Galaxy clusters are the sites where the most massive galaxies are found, and the most dramatic merger histories are embedded. Morphology study in nearby universe, e.g. Virgo cluster, is well established, but for clusters at z ~ 0.1 it is only focused on bright galaxies due to observational limits. Our optical deep imaging of 14 Abell clusters at z = 0.014 - 0.16 using IMACS f/2 on a Magellan Badde 6.5-m telescope and MegaCam on a 3.8-m CFHT enable to classify detailed morphology. For the galaxies in our data, we investigated their morphology with several criteria related to secular or merger related evolution. Our research on detailed morphology of thousands of galaxies through deep imaging would give a general census of cluster galaxies and help to estimate the evolution of cluster galaxies.
Numerous dust particles are scattered in the interplanetary space of the solar system (Interplanetary Dust Particles; IDPs). The origin of the IDPs is one of the major questions in the solar system astronomy because IDPs are being removed from the solar system within a few million years by photon drag. Comets and asteroids were pointed out as the possible sources of IDPs. Although several dust supplying mechanisms from comets and asteroids have been revealed, amount of contribution from each sources are still not clear. Zodiacal light is sunlight scattered by IDPs. Spectra of zodiacal light can supply important observational clue to reveal the origin of the IDPs, because comets and each type of asteroids have different kind of spectra. However, reflectance spectrum of zodiacal light was not measured at the wavelength of weak atmospheric contamination. We measured the reflectance spectra of zodiacal light from $5000{\AA}$ to $7000{\AA}$. We used open data obtained by the Subaru/FOCAS instruments archived in the SMOKA database. From the longslit spectrum data, we measured spectrum of sky background and estimated flux from the sources other than the zodiacal light. We compared it with the spectra of each type of minor bodies in the solar system, and meteorites originated from these bodies.
