This paper is the fundamental study for the application of cold storage system to the transportation equipment by sea and land. This numerical study presents the solid-liquid phase change phenomenon of calcium chloride solution of 30wt %. The governing equations are 1-dimensional unsteady state heat transfer equations of $1^{st}$ order partial differential equations. This type of latent heat storage material is often usable in fishery vessel for controlling the temperature of container with constant condition. The governing equation was discretized with finite difference method and the program was composed with Mathcad program. The main parameters of this solution were the initial temperature of heat storage material, ambient temperature of cold air and the velocity of cold air. The data of boundary layer thickness becomes thin with the increasing of cold air flowing velocity and also the heat storage completion time become shorten.

A 28-day repeated-dose oral toxicity test was performed to determine the no-observed-effect level (NOEL) and establish an optimum dose of the highly toxic Aconiti Ciliare Tuber (ACT) used as a folk remedy. Repeated oral doses of 1,250, 2,500, and 5,000 mg/kg/day of the hot water extract of ACT were administered to five male and five female Sprague-Dawley rats in each group for 4 weeks. The indicators for toxicity included results of examination of common symptoms and changes in weight and feed intake, eye test, urinalysis, hematological and serum biochemical analyses, and post-mortem weight measurement of organs, and visual inspections. All animals survived at the end of the experiment; in addition, we observed no specific test substance-mediated symptoms. We observed no test substance-mediated changes in body weight and feed intake. We observed statistically significant changes in male OB and pH levels (p<0.05). Further, the biochemical test showed statistically significant changes in the IP value of male rats and $CL^-$valueoffemalerats (p<0.05). However, all changes were within historical data. The post-mortem examinations showed no test substance-mediated changes. Moreover, statistically significant changes under the test conditions were confirmed to have been caused by factors other than the test substance. Thus, the maximum NOEL of ACT extract in rats was estimated to be 5,000 mg/kg/day.
Comparison of bioavailabflity (BA) of three brands of ranitidine (RT) tablets has been studied m rats. The purpose of this study was to characterize the pharniacolunetics of RT tablets in the rat and to coinpare phannacolunetic parameters of three brands of RT tablets. In addition, it was investigated whether plasma RT concentrations m humans can be predicted from pharmacokinetic parameters obtained in rats. RT was administered intravenously in dose of RT.HCI 10mg/kg and orally in dose of RT.HCI 50mg/kg as solution or crushed sample of thablets. Plasma RT concentrations were determned by HPLC. Plasma RT concentrations as a function of time were fitted to two compartment model. Plasma RT concentrations declined with a terminal half life ($t_{{1}/2{\betha}}$) of 40.9 min. The plasma RT concentration-time curve showed two peak plasma concentrations following an oral administration of solution or crushed sample in rats like humans. No significant difference among pharmacokinetic parameters was observed except $T_{max2}$ (p<0.05). The BA for crushed sample A, B and C were found to be 54.6 40.7 and 40.0%, respectively. Equivalence of $C_{max1}$ and $T_{max2}$ were guaranteed in this study. However, it was concluded that three brands of RT tablets are bioequivalent, taking the following characteristics of RT into consideration;(1) rapid onset of the effect is not required, (2) $C_{max1}$ and $T_{max2}$ do not seem to influence the effectiveness of the drug during a long-term treatment by the usual administration of twice a day. Results from this study were combined with plarmacokinetic data for RT in dogs and humans to develop a basis for interspecies scale-up of the disposition characteristics of the drug. there were similarities in the general disposition of the drug. Allometric relationships were sought between pharmacokinetic parameters nd species body weight. Significant interspecies correlations were found for total body clearance($Cl_{t}$) and steady state volume of distribution ($Bd_{ss}$). Thus, plasma RT concentrations in humans can be predicted from pharmacokinetic parameters obtained in rats.
This study examined microbiological contamination of street foods(kimbab, fish cake, Korean sausage) by microbiological analysis. A collection of 360 samples of street foods was obtained seasonally in four major cities(Seoul, Daejeon, Busan, Gwangju) in Korea. Aerobic mesophilic counts ranged between 1.0 and 9.9 log CFU/g, with the highest count recorded from Kimbab. Counts of psychrotrophic microorganisms were as high as those of mesophilic microorganisms. Total coliform populations between <1.0 and 7.5 log CFU/g were found in 53.6% of samples. Escherichia coli 4.4%, Staphylococcus aureus 7.8% and Clostridium perfringens 3.3%. Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes were not detected in any of the samples. Kimbab purchased in spring and summer showed higher S. aureus and Cl. perfringens contamination rates. Microbial contamination levels determined in the present study may be used as the primary data to execute microbial risk assessment of street foods.
The relative stability as a function of geometry in rigid cyclopropylcarbinyl cations was examined by $^{19}$F-nmr spectroscopy. 8-p-Fluorophenyl-tricyclo[3.3.1.0$^{2,7}$]octane-8-yl-(I), 9-p-fluorophenyl-tricyclo[3.3.1.0$^{2,8}$]nonane-9-yl (II), and 10-p-fluorophenyl-tricyclo[4.3.1.0$^{2,9}$]decane-10-yl cation(Ⅲ) were prepared from the corresponding carbinols in FSO$_3$H-SO$_2$ClF solution at -120$^{\circ}C$. $^{19}$F-nmr data indicate that the symmetrical bisected geometry of cyclopropane ring for ${\sigma}$-conjugation is a very impotant factor in charge delocalization. However, varied orientation of the bond angle ${\theta}$ within the bisected conformation does not affect the charge delocalization into the cyclopropane ring.
Trioctylamine-and tricaprylylmethylammonium chloride-tungstate salts have been prepared by solvent extraction from the sodium tungstate solution of various acidities(pH = 2, 4, 6). The molecular weights of the amine-tungstate salts thus obtained could be cryoscopically measured in benzene by means of a home-built Wheatstone bridge utilizing thermistor with sensitivity of 1/$4000^{\circ}C$. The cryoscopic data along with the results of chemical analysis and infrared spectra of the salts indicate that the amine-tungstates prepared at pH = 2 and 4 are all metatungstate whereas the salt obtained at pH = 6 is an unknown form quite different from the expected paratungstate.R = 0.14. By hydrogen bonding a guanidyl nitrogen of a sulfaguanidine molecule is linked to the sulfonyl oxygens of the other molecules indirectly through two different water molecules. The role of water molecule is both a .nor and an acceptor in hydrogen-bonding formation and these hydrogen bonds are tetrahedrally o?ented. The hydrogen-bonding networks form infinite molecular layers parallel to (001) plane.

The objective of this work is to study the feasibility of the preparation of the activated carbon (AC) from coconut tree flowers using high temperature fluidized bed reactor (HTFBR). The activating agent used in this work is steam. The reactor was operated at various activation temperature (650, 700, 750, 800 and $850^{\circ}C$) and activation time (30, 60, 120 and 240 min) for the production of AC from coconut tree flowers. Effect of activation time and activation temperature on the quality of the AC preparation was observed. Prepared AC was characterized in-terms of iodine number, methylene blue number, methyl violet number, ethylene glycol mono ethyl ether (EGME) surface area and SEM photographs. The best quality of AC from coconut tree flowers (CFC) was obtained at an activation temperature and time of $850^{\circ}C$ and 1 hr restectively. The effectiveness of carbon prepared from coconut tree flowers in adsorbing crystal violet from aqueous solution has been studied as a function of agitation time, carbon dosage, and pH. The adsorption of crystal violet onto AC followed second order kinetic model. Adsorption data were modeled using both Langmuir and Freundlich classical adsorption isotherms. The adsorption capacity $q_m$ was 277.78 mg/g., equilibrium time was found to be 180 min. This adsorbent from coconut tree flowers was found to be effective for the removal of CV dye.
GERI-155 is a macrolide antibiotic containing two deoxyhexose molecules and shows antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive bacteria. Deoxysugar biosynthetic gene cluster of GERI-155 from Streptomyces sp. GERI-l55 genome was cloned. Four orfs were identified and a putative orf presumed to be the dTDP g]ucose-4,6-dehydratase gene was designated as gerE. GerE was expressed in E. coli by using a recombinant expression vector pHJ1. The expressed protein was purified from E. coli cell lysate by using ammonium sulfate fractionation, and DEAE-sepharose CL-6B and hydroxylapatite column chromatography. The molecular mass of the expressed protein correlated with the predicted mass that was deduced from the cloned gene sequence data. The recombinant protein was a homodimer with a subunit relative molecular weight of 39,000 Dalton. It was found to have dTDP-glucose 4,6-dehydratase activity and also found to be highly specific for dTDP-glucose as a substrate. The values of $K_{m} and V_{max}$ for dTDP-g]ucose were $32\mu$M and 335 nmol $min^{-1}$(mg protein)^{-1}$, respectively. dTTP and dTDP were strong inhibitors of the protein. $NAD^+$, the coenzyme for dTDP-glucose 4,6-dehydratase, was tightly bound to the expressed protein.
We examined the effects of the vibration stress on cortisol secretion and hematological characteristics in soft-shelled turtle, Pelodiscus sinensis. For the stressed group vibration of $45{\sim}78 dB(V)$ from electric vibrator applied for 30 min with 2-h intervals during daytime ($08:00{\sim}18:00$) up to 28 days. Using the blood samples collected from ten turtles held once a week after vibration stress, we measured hematocrit, hemoglobin, red blood cells, cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, $Na^+,\;K^+,\;Cl^-$, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), and alanine aminotransferase (ALT). The results have showed that P. sinensis received vibration stress exhibit the 'typical' stress-induced physiological responses (cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, osmolality, ions, hematocrit and hemoglobin) induced by vibration stress. Our data suggested that chronic vibration stress caused substantial stress in the animal, and in particular, the persisting elevated levels of AST and ALT would be highly correlated with the adverse effects of the stress. The high hematological characteristics during entire experimental period showed that the P. sinensis could not adapt to chronic stimuli provoked by vibration stress.

More than fifty copper veins are emplaced around late Cretaceous granitoid stock in Haman-Gunbuk district, southernmost part of Korea. These veins cut both late Cretaceous granitoids and hornfels of Jindong formation which is intruded by the granitoids. The paragenesis of veins is nearly the same, consisting of (1) an early vein stage in which most iron oxide minerals, tourmaline and other silitcate minerals were deposited, (2) a calcite and quartz with base·metal sulfide stage and (3) late vein lets of barren calcite stage. Fluid inclusion studies reveal highly systematic trends of salinity and temperature during mineralization. Ore fluids of early vein stage were complex NaCl-KCl rich brines. Salinities of polyphase inclusions in quartz and scapolite in thie stage reached up to 72 wt.% and gradually decreased to 10.5wt. % in closing stage. Homogenization temperatures of inclusions in the beginning of this stage were up to $490^{\circ}C$ and then declined steadly to $290^{\circ}C$ in the late stage. Salinities of fluid inclusions in quartz and calcite of base·metal sulfide stage were 37.4~5.7wt. % and homogenization temperatures range from $373^{\circ}C$ to $170^{\circ}C$. Intermittent boiling of early vein fluid is indicated by fluid inclusions in quartz. Potassic alteration of granodiorite adjacent to early vein seems to be related to early saline vein fluid. Fluid inclusion data of base-metal sulfide stage of this area reveal nearly the same range as those of Koseong copper mining district about 30km apart from this area.
