In order to control emissions from engine, it is necessary to understand the mixture formation process of diesel spray. In this study, analysis of diesel fuel(n-Tridecane, $C_{13}H_{28}$) spray under a high temperature and pressure was performed by a general-purpose program, ANSYS CFX release 11.0, and the results of these are compared with experimental results of diesel fuel spray using the Exciplex Fluorescence Method. The simulation results of diesel spray is analyzed by using the combination of Large-Eddy Simulation(LES) and Lagrangian Particle Tracking(LPT), and then injection pressure was selected as an analysis parameter. Consequently, it was found that the experimental results and the numerical results are consistent with each other, and then in order to investigate the behavior characteristics of evaporative diesel spray, the effectiveness of the use of CFX of commercial code is definitely validated.
In this study, the characteristics of the propagation of dam-break wave through a porous structure in a water tank is numerically analyzed by using the three-dimensional numerical model (ANSYS CFX model). As results of comparison between the existing measured and simulated water depth distributions in and around a porous structure, the agreement is relatively well satisfied. Moreover, for the case of the presence in part of a porous structure in a water tank, the three-dimensional flow structure is numerically analyzed In general, compared with in the area with a porous structure, the abrupt variation of water depth occurs in the area without a porous structure. It is shown that the porous structure can play a role to decrease the abrupt variation of water depth.

Experimental results and numerical computations were conducted to investigate the effect of the confined wall on the flow and heat transfer characteristics for a two-dimensional impinging jet. Experimental results and Numerical solutions were obtained by using the particle image velocimetry and the commercial CFD code (CFX 11), respectively. The parameters studied were jet Reynolds number (Re=5,000), conditions of confined wall (unventilate), nozzle to plate spacings ($H/W=1{\sim}16$), and nozzle to nozzle spacing (S/W=6). Experimental and numerical results were agreed well with each other. The maximum heat transfer point was found variation of nozzle to plate spacings.

A standing grinder with a vacuum dust collection, which works grinding a surface and collecting dust occurred simultaneously, is needed to clean the surface before painting, or to remove a weld bead burr in the industrial field. In recent it trends to be compact and potable with high grinding and dust collection power, and low noise. As increasing these grinding and dust collection power, the noise and weight of standing grinder occurs an important problem. To solve these problem, an efficient cyclone separator was designed and developed by Ansys-CFX analysis and experiments. A weight of the developed grinder part was 5.9kg, which can be easily handled on standing by workers. and a noise level of the developed prototype was measured 69.9 dB(A).
The temperature rise of GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) busbar system is a vital factor that affects its performance. In this paper, a two-dimensional model is presented by commercial code CFX11 for the evaluation of natural convection in the busbar system. In the model, SF6 (Sulfur Hexafluoride) is used to insulate the high voltage device and improves the heat transfer rate. The power losses of a busbar calculated by the magnetic field analysis are used as the input data to predict the temperature rise by the nature convection analysis. The heat-transfer coefficients on the boundaries are analytically calculated by applying the Nusselt number considering material property and model geometry for the natural convection. The temperatures of the tank and conductors from CFX simulation and the experiment were compared. The results show a good agreement. In the future, we will calculate the 3-D model and try to reduce the temperature by adjusting some dimensional parameters.
In this study, an analysis of evaporative diesel spray and an usefulness of a general-purpose program, ANSYS CFX release 11.0, are investigated through the comparison and investigation of the experimental results carried out under an evaporative field, in which there is phase transition, by an exciplex fluorescence method and the results analyzed by the CFX program. The diesel fuel called n-Tridecane, $C_{13}H_{28}$, is injected from a single-hole nozzle (l/d=1.0mm/0.2mm) into a constant volume chamber under a high temperature and pressure. In the same condition as the experimental condition, the analysis was carried out. Both results of the spray tip penetration were almost coincident at each time. The results have validated the usefulness of this analysis. As a result, if the ambient pressure is high, the spray tip penetration will be shortened and move toward the nozzle exit.
In this study, the heat flow analysis compatible commercial code CFX 11 was used to develop the structure inside PCB circuit board devices, which could stable radiant heat as well as the cooling device within it. In case of modifying the arrangement of electronic parts on the PCB inside the multi channel temperature measurement board devices, radiant heat effects did not show a rising tendency, whereas the overall temperature went down in case of installing the vents in the outer case of PCB circuit board devices. In terms of installation location, it was the most appropriate to install it on the electronic parts with no heat. Besides, in case of mounting the fan as a cooling device by considering various user environments for multi channel temperature measurement board devices, the radiant heat effects were shown higher than in case of installing the vents, and the middle sections were the most appropriate to its installation location. In case of changing the wind quantity of the fan from its selected installation location, the best radiant heat effects were shown at high speed as expected.
This study was carried out to evaluate the structural safety fur both the attached wind-protecting wall in greenhouse and the detached one installed outside. Regarding the attached wind-protecting wall in greenhouse, the analysis was conducted by doing a fluid-structure coupled field analysis using both CFX-5.7 and ANSYS 8.1 and also under the design condition of an instantaneous maximum wind velocity of $30.9m{\cdot}s^{-1}$. Three kinds of the width ranged from 30 to 90cm were considered in this study. With regard to the detached wind-protecting wall, the structural saffty was analyzed under the pressure difference of 1,117 Pa which corresponded to a wind velocity of $50m{\cdot}s^{-1}$ and the analytical results were also compared with theoretical ones. The result showed that there was little difference in the distribution of velocity overall and total pressure on the lateral side according to the width of the attached wind-protecting wall, but greenhouse with wind-protecting widths of 30 to 60cm has been reinforced to the extent of about 11% when compared with the case of being without the wall. The result also showed that the detached wind-protecting wall with a main-column interval of 3m was not stable so that it was necessary for the detached wind-protecting wall to be adequately reinforced to secure structural stability. Finally, there was great difference between analytical results and theoretical studies. The difference meant that there was some possibility of including errors when a theoretical study was done in three dimensional structure.
A wind tunnel test was conducted at Protected Horticulture Experiment Station of National Horticultural Research Institute in Busan to find the aerodynamic resistance and quadratic resistance coefficient of chrysanthemum in greenhouse. The internal plants of the CFD model has been designed as a porous media because of the complexity of its physical shapes. Then the aerodynamic resistance value should be input for analyzing CFD model that crop is considered while the value varies by crops. In this study, the aerodynamic resistance value of chrysanthemum canopy was preliminarily found through wind tunnel test. The static pressure at windward increased as wind velocity and planting density increased. The static pressure at leeward decreased as wind velocity increased but was not significantly affected by planting density. The difference of static pressure between windward and leeward increased as wind velocity and planting density increased. The aerodynamic resistance value of chrysanthemum canopy was found to be 0.22 which will be used later as the input data of Fluent CFD model. When the planting distances were $9{\times}9\;cm$, $11{\times}11\;cm$, and $13{\times}13\;cm$, the quadratic resistance coefficients of porous media were found to be 2.22, 1.81, and 1.07, respectively. These values will be used later as the input data of CFX CFD model.

The 3/2-way valve supplies the high pressure air to ship engine for starting engine. In this paper, the high pressure 3/2 way valve for ship engine has the goal as reverse engineering by searching the fluid characteristic at this valve. The reverse engineering of 3/2-way valve is measured directly by Verier-calipers and is compared with 3D scanner. The fluid characteristic in this valve is used for a simulation method by ANSYS CFX 12.1. On the contrary, discs and the shaft are as the important components on numerical simulation by controlling the air flow at this valve. The fluid characteristics are seen to make high velocity and complicated vortex around the shaft. And the flow coefficient is calculated in order to apply for industrial field.
