The Rehabilitation and repair of structurally deteriorated, reinforced concrete structures will be highly demanded in the near future. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether damaged beams that crack and deflection are developed by bending moment are restored to the former state. In conclusion, when specimens strengthened with Steel Plate, CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) and CFRP-Grid(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic-Grid) are compared with standard specimen, flexural capacity is increased and ductility and energy absorbtion capacity are similar with undamaged specimen. Therefore Steel Plate, CFS(Carbon Fiber Sheet) and CFRP-Grid (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic-Grid) have highly efficiency as material of flexural strengthening.

In this study, the resistance of various reinforced concrete (RC) slabs subjected to contact detonation was assessed. In order to enhance the blast resistance, fibers and external FRP sheets were reinforced to RC slabs. In the experiment, the $2,000{\times}1,000{\times}100mm$ sized RC slabs were fabricated using normal concrete (NC), steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC), polyvinyl alcohol fiber reinforced cementitious composite (PVA FRCC), and ultra-high performance cementitious composites (UHPCC). The damage levels of RC slabs subjected to contact detonation were evaluated by measuring the diameter and depth of crater, spall and breach. The experimental results were compared to the analyzed data using LS-DYNA program and three different prediction equations. The diameter and depth of crater, spall and breach were able to be predicted using LS-DYNA program approximately. The damage process of RC slabs under blast load was also well expressed. Three prediction equations suggested by other researchers had limitations to apply in terms of empirical approaches, therefore it needs further research to set more analytical considerations.

Columns are one of the most critical parts of a structural system subjected to earthquake excitations. In this regard, extensive experimental studies have been conducted to evaluate the effect of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) wrapping on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) columns. Among them, many studies focused on the behavior of circular or square RC columns strengthened with CFRP or GFRP sheets. Since the cross-sectional shape affects confinement by FRP wrapping, its strengthening effect and final damage pattern may differ with shapes. In this study, a series of cyclic tests was conducted to investigate the seismic behavior of rectangular reinforced concrete columns strengthened with basalt-based fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) sheets and composite fiber panels. The result shows that the effect of strengthening is not significant, and it implies a little increase of confinement by BFRP sheets and composite fiber panels, which is considered partly due to the cross-sectional shape of the columns.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) can be bonded to the soffit of a concrete beam as a means of repairing and strengthening the beam. In such beams, materials, concrete and carbon fiber sheets, are different in coefficient of thermal expansion. Consequently, interfacial shear stresses can be increased and debonding failure may occur at the plate ends due to temperature rising. This paper presents a method of approximate closed-form solutions for the interfacial shear stresses and conducts a beam test to compare the numerical results. In case of temperature rising over $30^{\circ}C$, interfacial stress of 0.91MPa is occurred at the end of sheet. Therefore, using carbon fiber sheet for strengthening the concrete beam, it is necessary to consider the thermal effects and to evaluate the long time behavior of the concrete beam by temperature change.
This study investigates the failure mechanism of RC beams strengthened with GFRP (glass fiber reinforced polymer) sheets. After analyzing failure mechanisms, the various methods to prevent the debonding failures, such as increasing bonded length of GFRP sheets, U-shape wrappings and epoxy shear keys are examined. The bonded length of GFRP sheets are calculated based on the assumed bond strengths of epoxy resin. The U-shape wrappings are either adopted at the end or center of the CFRP sheets bonded to the beam soft. The epoxy shear keys are embedded to the beam soft to provide sufficient bond strength. The end U-wrappings and the center U-wrappings are conventional, while epoxy shear keys are new details developed in this study. A total six half-scale RC beams have been constructed and tested to investigate the effectiveness of each methods to prevent debonding failure of GFRP sheets. From the experimental results, it was found that increasing bonded length or end U-wrappings do not prevent debonding failure. On the other hand, the beams with center U-wrappings and shear keys reached an ultimate state with their sufficient performance. The center U-wrappings tended to control debonding of the longitudinal GFRP sheets because the growth of the longitudinal cracks along the edges of the composites was delayed. In the case of shear keys, it was sufficient to prevent debonding and the beam was failed by GFRP sheets rupture.

The p-version nonlinear finite element model has been developed to analyze the nonlinear behavior of simply supported RC slabs strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced plastic sheets. The shape function is adopted with integral of Legendre polynomials. The compression model of concrete is based on the Kupfer's yield criterion, hardening rule, and crushing condition. The cracking behavior is modeled by a smeared crack model. In this study, the fixed crack approach is adopted as being geometrically fixed in direction once generated. Each steel layer has a uniaxial behavior resisting only the axial force in the bar direction. Identical behavior is assumed fur tension and compression of steel according to the elastic modulus. The carbon fiber reinforced plastic sheets are considered as reinforced layers of equivalent thickness with uniaxial strength and rigidity properties in the present model. It is shown that the proposed model is able to adequately predicte the displacement and ultimate load of nonlinear simply supported RC slabs by a patch with respect to reinforcement ratio, thickness and angles of CFRP sheets.

An experimental study was performed to evaluate the possibility of using stiff type PolyUrea(PU) on RC slab as a strengthening material. Stiff type PU(STPU) was sprayed on the bottom surface of the slab specimens, which were then attached with CFRP or GFRP sheets. Also the evaluation of the bond capacity, the single most influential parameter on strengthening of RC structures, was carried out the flexural capacity evaluation test results showed that the load carrying capacity of the PU specimen was greater and less than the unstrengthened and FRP sheet attached specimens, respectively. The STPU specimens showed a ductile flexural behavior in the plastic displacement range. With respect to bond capacity, the bond strength of all of the specimen exceeded the code required bond strength of 1.5 MPa. Also, the STPU sprayed specimen without using epoxy resin did not peel off when the tensile grip was applied for testing. The stability of the PU bond failure indicate a good bond strength of PU when applied to concrete.

In this study, new bond-slip model is proposed. The proposed bond-slip model which has bilinear ascending regions and exponential descending region by modifying the conventional bilinear bond-slip model has been verified. Then, result by finite element analyses using interface element implemented with bond-slip model compared well with those of existing experiment researches on bond-slip models. It is shown that bond strength and effective bond length predicted by the bond-slip model and finite element analysis is good agreement with those of pull tests.
In this study, in order to observe the behaviors of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) strengthened and steel fiber reinforced concrete specimens for impact and static loads, flexural and punching tests were performed. For the one-way flexural and two-way punching tests, concrete specimens with the dimensions of $50{\times}100{\times}350$ mm and $50{\times}350{\times}350$ mm were fabricated, respectively. The steel fiber reinforced concrete specimens showed much enhanced resistance on two-way punching of static and impact loads. In addition the FRP strengthening system provided the outstanding performance under a punching load. Because of a large tensile strength and toughness of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC), the UHPC specimens retrofitted with FRP showed marginally enhanced strength and energy dissipating capacity.

From the result of this research above, it may be summed up as follows. As a summary of results from each experiment, as the test body reinforced with the carbon rods was embedded inside the concrete section and made it possible uniform movement, this study has shown that it had excellent characteristics in improving the flexural strength and ductility. Also, it was considered as the carbon-steel sheet composite plate was to exert the strength more if it would complement the adherence with the concrete.
