Two novel coordination compounds $[Cu_2(pypya)_3(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}Cl{\cdot}(H_2O)_5$ (1) and $\{[Cd(pypya)(ta)_{1/2}]{\cdot}H_2O\}_n$ (2) (Hpypya=2-(3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)acetic acid, $H_2ta$=terephthalic acid) were synthesized and characterized by single X-ray diffraction. Structure determination reveals that complex 1 and complex 2 crystallize in the triclinic system, with the P-1 space group. The asymmetric unit of 1 contains two Cu(II) ions, and their coordination modes are different. These units of complex 1 are linked together via hydrogen bonds and ${\pi}-{\pi}$ interactions, and the 3D structure of complex 1 was formed. Complex 2, a mononuclear Cd(II) coordination compound, has a 2D structure which was constructed via coordination bonds. TGA and fluorescence spectra analysis of complex 1 and complex 2 have also been studied. In addition, the geometry parameters of complex 1 have been optimized with the B3LYP method of density functional theory (DFT) to explain its coordination behavior. The electronic properties of the complex 1 and ligand Hpypya have been investigated based on the nature bond orbital (NBO) analysis at the B3LYP level of theory. The result verifies that the synergistic effect have occurred in the compound.
In this study, the effect of molecular features of guest molecules on the structure, property, and formation of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/beta-cyclodextrin (bCD) inclusion compound hybrid films was investigated using three types of guest molecules such as hydroquinone (HQ), arbutin (AB), and tranexamic acid (TA). First, the successful formation of inclusion compounds between bCD and the guest molecules, and polymer/inclusion compound hybrid were proved using Raman spectroscopy. The effect of bCD-based inclusion compounds on the structure and property of PVA matrix composites containing inclusion compounds was also studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermal analyses such as differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). It was notable that the effect of TA to the crystalline structure of the PVA was significantly different from that of using other guest molecules including HQ and AB. It was also supported by a simple molecular simulation result. This article will be a good example for demonstrating the effect of molecular characteristics on the inclusion compound formation in polymer films, which can provide important information for relevant future research.

Recently, an optical disc system has been proposed using blue laser diode, high NA objective lens and groove only disc structure. A new method is needed to readout CD and DVD in this blue system. In order to readout CD and DVD in HD-DVD system, we adopted dual-lenses actuator in consideration of optical utilization efficiency, optical performance and insurance of sufficient W.D (working distance). This dual-lenses actuator has two objectives in radial direction, one is for CD/DVD and the other is for HD-DVD. We had to solve the induced problems of DC tilt increase, $2^{nd}$ resonance deterioration and AC sensitivity drop caused by disposing two lenses in an actuator. Especially, to solve AC sensitivity drop, we introduced two 2-pole magnets and separated focus and track magnetic circuits. Consequently we presented that dual-lenses actuator has been possessed good performance. And we measured eye patterns of CD, DVD and HD-DVD by using HD-DVD optical pick-up with dual-lenses actuator.
Hyperpolarization-activated nonselective cation channels (HCNs) play a pivotal role in producing rhythmic electrical activity in the heart and the nerve cells. In our previous experiments, voltage-dependent $Cd^{2+}$ access to one of the substituted cysteines in S6, T464C, supports the existence of an intracellular voltage-dependent activation gate. Direct binding of intracellular cAMP to HCN channels also modulates gating. Here we attempted to locate the cAMP-modulated structure that can modify the gating of HCN channels. SpHCN channels, a sea urchin homologue of the HCN family, became inactivated rapidly and intracellular cAMP removed this inactivation, resulting in about eight-fold increase of steady-state current level. T464C was probed with $Cd^{2+}$ applied to the intracellular side of the channel. We found that access of $Cd^{2+}$ to T464C was strongly gated by cAMP as well as voltage. Release of bound $Cd^{2+}$ by DMPS was also gated in a cAMP-dependent manner. Our results suggest the existence of an intracellular cAMP-modulated gate in the lower S6 region of spHCN channels.
Two novel binuclear metal-organic coordination complexes $[Cd_2(L)_2(bpy)_2(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}6H_2O$ (1), $[Cd_2(L)_2(phen)_2-(H_2O)_2]{\cdot}2H_2O$ (2) (where L = 2-methylquinoline-3,4-dicarboxylate dianion, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal Xray diffraction, spectral method (IR), elemental analysis and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA). Both 1 and 2 consist of two Cd(II) atoms bridged by two monoatomic bridging carboxylate groups from two L ligands, and the second carboxylate group of each L is monodentately coordinated to Cd(II), creating a sevenmembered chelating ring. The coordination at each metal nucleus is completed by a water molecule and a chelating bidentate molecule. The 3D structures of the complexes are stabilized by ${\pi}-{\pi}$ stacking interactions and hydrogen-bonds.
In this research, two new complexes of N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,3-propanediamine (aepn), $[Cd(aepn)_2]I_2$ (1) and $[Cd(aepn)_2]Cl_2{\cdots}H_2O$ (2), were prepared and identified by elemental analysis, FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Geometry around the cadmium atom in two complexes by coordination of six nitrogen atoms of two aepn is distorted octahedral. If distortion in the mer-$[Cd(aepn)_2]^{2+}$ cation is disregarded, it has a $C_2$ axis and $C_2$ symmetry. The cyclic voltammetry experiments were carried out to study the complexation process. Two structural surveys on coordination modes and complexes of aepn are presented. A study was carried out using CSD data to estimate the averages of bond lengths for different types of the Cd-N bonds. It was found that the intermolecular $N-H{\cdots}I$, $C-H{\cdots}I$ hydrogen bonds in 1 and $N-H{\cdots}Cl$, $N-H{\cdots}O$, $C-H{\cdots}O$, $O-H{\cdots}Cl$ in 2 stabilized the crystal networks.

$Zn_{0.5}Cd_{0.5}Al_{2}Se_{4}$ and $Zn_{0.5}Cd_{0.5}Al_{2}Se_{4}:Co^{2+}$ + single crystals were grown by CTR method. The grown single crystals have defect chalcopyrite structure with lattice constant a= 5.5966A. c= 10.8042${{\AA}}$ for the pure. a= 5.6543${{\AA}}$. c= 10.8205${{\AA}}$ for the Co-doped single crystal. respectively. The optical energy band gap was given as indirect band gap. The optical energy band gap was decreased according to add of Co-impurity. Temperature dependence of optical energy band gap was fitted well to the Varshni equation. From this relation. we can deduced the entropy. enthalpy and heat capacity. Also. we can observed the Co-impurity optical absorption peaks assigned to the $Co^{2+}$ ion sited at the $T_d$ symmetry lattice and we consider that they were attributed to the electron transitions between energy levels of ions.

The $Cd_{1-x}Zn_xS$ thin films were grown on the Si(100) wafers by a hot wall epitaxy method(HWE). The source and substrate temperature are $600^{\circ}C\;and\;440^{\circ}C$ respectively. The crystalline structure of epilayers was investigated by double crystal X-ray diffraction(DCXD). Hall effect on the sample was measured by the van der Pauw method and studied on the carrier density and mobility dependence on temperature. In order to explore the applicability as a photoconductive cell, we measured the sensitivity($\gamma$), the ratio of photocurrent to darkcurrent(pc/dc), maximum allowable power dissipation(MAPD), spectral response and response time. The results indicated that the photoconductive characteristic were the best for the $Cd_{0.53}Zn_{0.47}S$ samples annealed in Cu vapor compare with in Cd, Se, air and vacuum vapour. Then we obtained the sensitivity of 0.99, the value of pc/dc of $1.65{\times}10^7$, the MAPD of 338mW, and the rise and decay time of 9.7ms and 9.3ms, respectively
