돼지의 체온 조절 행동 분류를 위한 영상처리 시스템 개발 (Development of an Image Processing System for Classifying the Pig's Thermoregulatory Behavior)

  • This study was conducted to develop an image processing system which can classify the pig's thermoregulatory behavior under the different environmental conditions. The 4 pigs of 25kg were housed in the environmentally controlled chamber(1.4m$\times$2.2m floor space). Postural behavior of the pigs was captured with an CCD color camera. The raw behavioral images were processed by thresholoding, reduction, separation of slightly contacted pigs, labeling, noise removal, computation of number of labels, and classification of the pig's behavior. The correct classification rate of the image processing system was 97.8%(88 out of 90 testing images). The results of this study showed that the image processing system could be used for a behavior-based automatic environmental controller.

Strawberry Harvesting Robot for Bench-type Cultivation

  • Purpose: An autonomous robot was developed for harvesting strawberries cultivated in bench-type systems. Methods: The harvest robot consisted of four main components: an autonomous vehicle, a manipulator with four degrees of freedom (DOF), an end effector with two DOFs, and a color computer vision system. Strawberry detection was performed based on 3D image and distance information obtained from a stereo CCD color camera and a laser device, respectively. Results: In this work, a Cartesian type manipulator system was designed, including an intermediate revolute axis and a double driven arm-based joint axis, so that it could generate collision-free motions during harvesting. A DC servomotor-driven end-effector, consisting of a gripper and a cutter, was designed for gripping and cutting the strawberry stem without damaging the strawberry itself. Real-time position tracking algorithms were developed to detect, recognize, trace, and approach strawberries under natural light conditions. Conclusion: The developed robot system could harvest a strawberry within 7 seconds without damage.

문어흘림낚시용 친환경 봇돌의 색 효과 (Color effect of the environment-friendly sinker for octopus drift-line)

  • The choice behavior of the octopus in response to the environment-friendly colored sinker for octopus driftline and the sinker's fishing effect were studied under experimental conditions in the water tank and the field. The colors of the sinkers used for the experiment are white, black, yellow and green. Artificial baits are attached to the sinkers in order to attract the octopuses in the experiment. In the water tank experiment, two sinkers of two different colors are placed in a compartmentalized corner of the rectangular tank, and a CCD camera records the choice behaviors of the octopuses to the colored sinkers. In the field experiment, the catch investigation of octopus for each colored sinker was conducted 14 times in total by using 2(A, B) commercial fishing boats at the coast of Gangneung within 30m of depth in 2006. The number of colored sinkers per operation was a total of 24-40 pieces with the same number of sinkers individually for four colors. As a result, it was found that the octopus selected white the most followed by black and yellow in their choice of colored sinkers in the water tank experiment, and green was the lowest in their choice. Even in the field experiment, the sinkers of white and black showed a higher catch of octopus than the sinkers of yellow and green.

The Globular Cluster System of the Virgo Giant Elliptical Galaxy NGC 4636

  • We present a photometric and spectroscopic study of the globular clusters (GCs) in the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4636 in the Virgo cluster. The photometry of the GCs is based on HST/WFPC2 images for the inner region and deep, wide field Washington $CT_1$ CCD images for the outer region. We investigated the color distribution, the radial number density profile, the spatial distribution, and the mean color of the bright blue GCs about the GCs in NGC 4636. We obtained spectra of the GC candidates in NGC 4636 using the Multi-Object Spectroscopy (MOS) mode of Faint Object Camera and Spectrograph (FOCAS) on the SUBARU 8.2m Telescope. We measured the velocities for 105 GCs in NGC 4636. Using the 238 GCs obtained from combining our results with data in the literature, we investigated the kinematics of the GC system of NGC 4636: the rotation, the velocity dispersion, the radial variation, and the orbit. We also investigated the distribution and the radial variation of the metallicities, ages, and alpha-elements of the GCs in NGC 4636 derived using the absorption lines. We compared the GC kinematics of NGC 4636 with those of other six gEs, finding that the kinematic properties of the GCs are diverse among gEs. We found several correlations between the kinematics of the GCs and the global parameters of their host galaxies. Finally we discuss the implication of the results for the formation models of the GC system in gEs, and suggest a mixture scenario for the origin of the GCs in gEs.

  • In this paper, we propose the neural network based emotion recognition method for intelligently recognizing the human's emotion using vision system. In the proposed method, human's emotion is divided into four emotion (surprise, anger, happiness, sadness). Also, we use R,G,B(red, green, blue) color image data and the gray image data to get the highly trust rate of feature point extraction. For this, we propose an algorithm to extract four feature points (eyebrow, eye, nose, mouth) from the face image acquired by the color CCD camera and find some feature vectors from those. And then we apply back-prapagation algorithm to the secondary feature vector(position and distance among the feature points). Finally, we show the practical application possibility of the proposed method.

HSI 고유칼라 모델과 불변 모멘트를 이용한 교통 표지판 검출 방법 (Traffic Sign Detection Using The HSI Eigen-color model and Invariant Moments)

  • 차량 운전자 지원을 위한 연구에서 도로상에 위치한 교통 표지판은 운전자에게 아주 중요한 정보임에 틀림없다. 따라서 주행중인 차량에서 획득한 영상으로부터 실시간으로 교통 표지판을 검출하여 운전자에게 그 정보를 제공한다면 안전운전에 큰 도움이 될 것이다. 하지만 주행중인 차량으로부터 획득한 영상에는 차량과 노면의 진동에 의해 획득된 영상에 흐림 현상이 발생하고 또한 노이즈들이 포함되어 있어 정확한 표지판 검출이 어려운 문제점이 있다. 게다가 영상획득을 위한 촬영 각도나 날씨 등에 의해 교통 표지판의 고유한 색상과 모양이 서로 다르게 표현되는 문제점이 발생한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 도로 환경과 같은 다양한 조도 변화가 포함된 교통 표지판 영상들로부터 고유색상 정보를 분석하고 HSI 고유칼라 모델을 생성하고 이를 이용하여 교통 표지판의 후보 영역을 검출한다. 그리고 모양정보 분석을 위해 교통 표지판의 고유한 형태학적 정보를 표현할 수 있는 불변 모멘트 특징정보를 추출하여 SVM을 통해 최종 교통 표지판 영역을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법을 도로에서 획득한 영상에서 실험한 결과, 교통 표지판 검출율은 91%, 그리고 프레임당 처리 시간은 0.38초이며, 제안한 방법은 실시간 지능형 교통 안내 시스템에 유용하게 적용될 수 있다.

Machine Vision Technique for Rapid Measurement of Soybean Seed Vigor

  • Purpose: Morphological properties of soybean roots are important indicators of the vigor of the seed, which determines the survival rate of the seedlings grown. The current vigor test for soybean seeds is manual measurement with the human eye. This study describes an application of a machine vision technique for rapid measurement of soybean seed vigor to replace the time-consuming and labor-intensive conventional method. Methods: A CCD camera was used to obtain color images of seeds during germination. Image processing techniques were used to obtain root segmentation. The various morphological parameters, such as primary root length, total root length, total surface area, average diameter, and branching points of roots were calculated from a root skeleton image using a customized pixel-based image processing algorithm. Results: The measurement accuracy of the machine vision system ranged from 92.6% to 98.8%, with accuracies of 96.2% for primary root length and 96.4% for total root length, compared to manual measurement. The correlation coefficient for each measurement was 0.999 with a standard error of prediction of 1.16 mm for primary root length and 0.97 mm for total root length. Conclusions: The developed machine vision system showed good performance for the morphological measurement of soybean roots. This image analysis algorithm, combined with a simple color camera, can be used as an alternative to the conventional seed vigor test method.

색순응을 기반하여 관촬환경에 독립한 색재현 시스템 개발 (Watching environment-independent color reproduction system development based on color adaption)

  • As information-communication network has been developed rapidly, internet users' circumstances also have been changed for the better, in result, more information can be applied than before. At this moment, there are many differences between real color and reappeared color on the CRT. When we observe a material object, our eyes perceive the multiplied form of light sources and nature spectral reflection. However, when the photographed signal is reappeared, illumination at that time of photographing and spectral reflection of a material object are converted into signal, and this converted RGB signal is observed on the CRT under another illumination. At this time, RGB signal is the reflected result of illumination at that time of photographing Therefore, this signal is influenced by the illumination at present, so it can be perceived another color. To accord the colro reflections of another color source, the study has been reported by S.C.Ahn$^{[1]}$, which study is about the color reapperarance system using neuron network. Furthermore, color reappearing method become independent of its circumstances has been reported by Y.Miyake$^{[2]}$. This method can make the same illuminations even if the observe circumstances are changed. To assume the light sources of observe circumstances, the study about color reappearing system using CCD sensor also have been studied by S.C.Ahn$^{[3]}$. In these studies, a population is fixed, first, on ab coordinates of CIE L${\ast}$a${\ast}$b${\ast}$. Then, color reappearing can be possible using every population and existing digital camera. However, the color is changed curvedly, not straightly, according to value's changes on the ab coordinates of CIE L${\ast}$a${\ast}$b. To solve these problems in this study, first of all, Labeling techniques are introduced. Next, basis color-it is based on Munsell color system-is divided into 10 color fields. And then, 4 special color- skin color, grass color, sky color, and gray-are added to the basis color. Finally, 14 color fields are fixed. After analyzing of the principle elements of new-defined-color fields' population, utility value and propriety value are going to be examined in 3-Band system from now on.

Close Relationship in Color Between Host and Satellite Galaxies in WHL 085910.0+294957, a Galaxy Cluster at z = 0.30

  • To test whether the close relationships between host and satellite galaxies in isolated groups are also found in the harsh environment of a galaxy cluster, we carry out a case study of WHL 085910.0+294957, a galaxy cluster at z=0.30, using deep images obtained with the 2.1-m Otto Struve telescope and CQUEAN CCD camera. When environmental parameters are controlled, the local weighted mean color of faint galaxies shows a measurable correlation with the color of their bright ($M_i$ < -18) neighbor. The most striking result is that the red (r - i > 0.2) and bright galaxies within 200 kpc distance from the center of the cluster are correlated in color with very faint ($M_i$ > -14) galaxies around them by $(r-i)_{satellites}=(7.276{\pm}1.402){\times}(r-i)_{host}-2.434$ (correlation coefficient = 0.665). We suggest three scenarios to interpret the results: vestiges of infallen groups, dwarf capturing, and tidal tearing of bright galaxies.

김해천문대 60cm 반사망원경의 측광성능 분석과 소행성 탐사 (SEARCHING MINOR PLANETS AND PHOTOMETRIC QUALITY OF 60cm REFLECTOR IN GIMHAE ASTRONOMICAL OBSERVATORY)

  • 이 연구에서는 김해천문대 망원경을 이용하여 측광성능을 분석하고, 시민천문대의 망원경으로 경쟁력 있는 관측의 하나로서 소행성 탐사를 제안하기 위한 관측을 수행하였다. 관측은 김해천문대의 60cm반사망원경을 이용하여 2007년 1월 13일에 이루어졌다. 관측에는 $Sch\ddot{u}ler$ BVI 필터와 1K CCD 카메라(AP8p)를 이용하였다. 측광성능을 확인하기 위해 등급이 잘 알려진 산개성단 M67의 표준성 영역을 관측하였고, 관측한 자료들로부터 표준계 변환계수, 대기소광계수 등을 얻었으며, 측광의 정밀도를 구하였다. PSF 측광을 통하여 M67의 색-등급도를 구하였고, 유용한 한계등급과 성단의 물리적 특성 등에 대해 고찰하였는데, 이 방법은 시민천문대급의 망원경의 측광성능을 측정하는 방법으로 유용하게 사용할 수 있다. 한편, 소행성 등과 같은 신천체의 발견 가능성을 조사하기 위하여 황도의 충 부근의 임의의 영역을 관측하였고, 그 결과를 논의하였다. 연구 결과, 김해천문대에서는 18.3등급보다 밝은 태양계 미세 천체의 탐사와 16등급보다 밝은 별들의 측광 관측 등이 가능함을 확인 할 수 있었다. 즉, 김해천문대의 망원경으로도 과학적이며 신뢰성 있는 관측을 수행 할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 시민천문대에서의 천문 연구 활동 가능성을 시사한다.
