This treatise is to analyze the chemical components in the mulberry varieties which are cultured in Korea and to estimate the nutritive values for them. Some of these varieties were developed lately in this country just by the general breeding aspect of mulberry leaf producing and silkworm raising experimentation without analysing the nutritive values of them which may be differed by various culturing condition. This work will be helpful for the improvement of mulberry varieties and the correct judgement of them. The varieties used for the analysis are as followings; A. Morus bombycis Koridz species. 1.Ichi-Hei. 2. Shimano-Uchi B. Morus alba L. species. 3. Kairyo-Nezumigaeshi. 4. Suwon-Daeyop. 5. Suwon No. 3. 6. Suwon No. 4. 7. Yongchon-Chuwoo. C. Morus Ihou (Ser.) Koidz species. 8. Ro-Soh. The specimens were eventually taken under the air and soil dry season because of the rain shortage during the sampling period and the results are found as a rather different from the normal specimen under the normal climate. Therefore, this treatise will be an important report on a special culturing condition and the nutritive values by the mulberry varieties, and still comparable because they were grown under the same condition. The individual conclusions are; 1. Yongchon-Chuwoo which was originated in this country, was found as an important variety for this country from the aspect of mulberry nutritive value and leaf producing amount, and it is believed that this is the best suitable variety for the soil of Korea. 2. Ichi-Hei occupies the better situation as well as Yongchon-Chuwoo from the nutritive criticizing even though it was originated in Japan. 3. The lately developed Suwon No.3 and No.4 are best from the leaf producing point of view, but they are not found such a good varieties from the nutritive aspect. The result may be happened as poor because they were cut before spring sprout started. 4. Ro-Soh which was normally recognized as a poor variety, was also found as a poor nutritive and leaf producing variety. 5. The crude protein and crude fat components in the mulberry leaves decreased as the leaf maturity was progressed, but the crude fiber and crude ash components increased reversively in general view. It was also found that there were some specific changing nature by the mulberry varieties and could not rule them by just one conclusion. 6. During the air and soil dry season, the ash component increases but the hydrocarbon and moisture contents decrease considerably, and which resulted to the increase of mulberry hardness ratio and the decrease of sugar-protein ratio, eventually it causes the decrease of the nutritive value. It was also found that Ichi-Hei, Ro-Soh, and Suwon No. 3 had a strong recovering nature to their normal nutritive condition after raining. 7. Mulberry is of course a rich calorie diet, and is calculated as 50 to 60 Cal. per gram.

The use of small drone platform has become a popular topic in these days but its application for SAR operation has been little known due to the burden of the payload implementation. Drone platforms are distinguished from the conventional UAV system by the increased vulnerability to the turbulences, control-errors and poor motion stability. Consequently, sophisticated motion compensation may be required to guarantee the successful acquisition of high quality SAR imagery. Extremely limited power and mass budgets may prevent the use of additional hardwares for motion compensation and the difficulty of SAR focusing is further aggravated. In this paper, we have carried out a feasibility study of mico-SAR drone operation. We present the image acquisition results from the preliminary flight tests and a quality assessment is followed on the experimental SAR images. The in-flight motion errors derived from the unique drone movements are investigated and attempts have been made to compensate for the geometrical and phase errors caused by motions against the nominal trajectory. Finally, the successful operation of drone SAR system is validated through the focussed SAR images taken over test sites.
Purpose : Recently, various materials were developed for enhancing bone formation capacity. Platelet rich plasma(PRP) is an autologous source with several growth factors and obtained by sequestering and concentrating platelets by gradient density centrifugation. This study was to evaluate the effect of PRP on healing of grafted bone. Materials and methods : Two blood samples were obtained and analysed for measuring platelet counts of normal blood and PRP. In experimental group, two defects of mandibular bone, 10mm in diameter and 4.0mm deep, were created in the mandible and immediately grafted with autogenous bone chips mixed with PRP. In control group, same bone defects were prepared and grafted with autogenous bone chips. Gelform was used for carrier of PRP. 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks later, each group was evaluated with histologi-cal and histomorphometric analyses. Results : According to histological observation, experimental group was showed more anastomosing newly-formed woven bone having osteoblastic activation than control group. According to histomorphometric analysis, there were 9.11% more newly-formed bone volume in experimental group than control group at 2 weeks, 7.91% more at 4 weeks, 20.08% more at 8 weeks. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated PRP in autogenous bone graft could enhance the bone formation.
Of the many first-occuring major manifestations of Behcet's disease, the oral ulcer is most frequently observed, shows the highest mean recurrence rate, and the longest mean duration period. A study of the relationship between mechanical irritation buy local factors and the recurrence of oral ulcers was carried out to see if there is a correlation. The subjects chosen for the study were 81 patients who were referred to the Department of Oral Diagnosis at Yonsei University Dental Hospital from the Behcet clinic of Severace Hospital after being diagnosed as Behcet's disease patients. 1. By Shimuzu's classification, possible type was the most numerous with 55.55% ; while suspected type was 19.76% ; incomplete type, 17,28% ; and complete type, 7.41% were observed in that order. The male to female ration was 1 to 1.61, and the average age of onset was 17.63 years. 2. Oral ulcers developed most frequently on the tongue (48.28%), and lip(23.15%), buccal mucosa (20.69%), palate\pharynx(4.43%), and gingiva(3.45%) also showed ulceration. 3. 38.27% of the patients were HSV positive : 27.16% were CRP positive ; 12.34% were ASO positive ; 9.87% were RF positive ; and 3.7% were ANA positive. 4. According to the answers to the survey, fatigue(85.18%) was most frequently associated with Behcet's diseage. Trauma by tooth brushing (22.22%), un specified reasons (20.98%), hard food chewing (12.35%), and irritation by dentition and/or prosthesis (13.58%) were observed in association with Behcet's disease. 23.46% had a history of tonsilitis. 5. Oral ulcers on the anterior part of tongue and buccal mucosa were associated with local irritatants. 6. Oral ulcers on the lip and posterior portion of tongue were not associated with local irritants. Local irritation by dentition and oral ulcer on the anterior part of tongue and buccal mucosa was observed to coexit with one another : in other words, lo9cal factors can act to cause of recurrence of an oral ulcer and to delay the healing process in Behcet's disease. Therefore, elimination of local factors along with systemic therapy must be recommended when treating oral ulcers.

Objectives : This comparative study was to investigate on anti-obesity effects of Ephedrae Herba and Cyperi rhizoma in high fat diet(HFD) fed mice. Methods : Male C57BL/6J mice were fed a normal diet(normal group, N), high fat 45 cal% diet[HFD, control group, C), HFD with Ephedrae Herba(EH group) and Cyperi rhizoma(CR group) extracts fed for 5 weeks. We were observed as follows : changes of body weight, amount of diet intake, weight of total visceral fats, levels of obesity-related hormones and blood lipids. Results : The change of body weight after EH and CR oral administration significantly more decreased in EH group than that of control group. The FFR(Food Efficiency Ratio) was decreased in EH group, but more increased in CR group than that of control group. The weight of periepididymal and perirenal fats were significantly decreased in EH and CR groups compared to the control group. The levels of serum leptin and insulin were significantly decreased in EH group, and the level of serum adiponectin was increased in EH group compared to control group. The levels of serum triglyceride and total cholesterol were significantly decreased in EH and CR groups, and HDL-cholesterol levels was significantly increased in EH group compared to control group. Conversely in CR group, its values showed the opposite effect. The staining density of lipid droplets within the hepatocytes was widely distributed in CR and control groups, but in EH group, its density was weakly stained. Conclusions : These experimental results suggest that Ephedrae Herba shows conspicuous anti-obesity effect, and Cyperi rhizoma shows weak anti-obesity effect.

The purpose of this study was to determine the storage characteristics of Sulgidduk, a kind of rice cake, added with Portulaca oleracea L. The effect of P. oleracea L. paste (0, 1, 3, or 5%) on the storage qualities of Sulgidduk was evaluated during storage period at $20{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ for 3 days. As the amount of P. oleracea L. paste increased, loss of water in P. oleracea L. Sulgidduk decreased. Textural properties by texture profile analysis showed that hardness of Sulgidduk added with 5% P. oleracea L. paste was the lowest among treated samples. However, the hardness of all Sulgidduks increased during storage, regardless of the addition amount of P. oleracea L. paste. In accordance with the texture results, differential scanning calorimetry exhibited that the enthalpy of Sulgidduk with 5% P. oleracea L. addition was the lowest, indicating the delaying effect of P. oleracea L. paste on retrogradation of rice cake. From these results, the addition of P. oleracea L. to Sulgidduk extended shelf-life by delaying retrogradation.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVE: The aim of this experiments was to show anti-obesity effects of Korean solar salt from different salt fields in diet-induced obese mice. MATERIALS/METHODS: Diet-induced obesity (DIO) was induced by a high-fat diet (HFD; 45% cal from fat) in C57BL/6J mice for eight weeks. The mice were fed with the designated diets (chow diet for Normal, HFD for Control, 0.47%-salt-mixed HFD for purified salt (PS), Guerande solar salt from France (SS-G), solar salt from Y salt field (SS-Y), solar salts from T salt field (SS-T) and S salt field (SS-S)) for another eight weeks. We checked body weight, food efficiency ratio (FER) and tissue weights (liver and epididymal adipose tissue (EAT)), and observed serum concentrations of triacylglycerol (TG), total cholesterol (TC), leptin and insulin. We also evaluated gene expressions of adipogenic / lipogenic mRNAs of $C/EBP{\alpha}$, $PPAR{\gamma}$ and FAS and beta-oxidation-related factors ($PPAR{\alpha}$ and CPT-1) in liver and EAT. The mineral composition of salt samples were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). RESULTS: SS-T and SS-S significantly reduced body weight gain, FER, and weight of EAT compared to control and other samples (P < 0.05). SS-T and SS-S also significantly decreased serum levels of TG, TC, leptin and insulin (P < 0.05). SS-T and SS-S suppressed expressions of adipogenic / lipogenic mRNAs in liver and EAT, while promoting expression of beta-oxidation-related factors. The lowest sodium concentration was observed in SS-T ($30.30{\pm}0.59%$), and the lowest sodium-to-potassium (Na/K) ratio was found in SS-S (17.81). CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows that well-processed Korean solar salt may have anti-obesity effects in vivo, probably owing to its differences in mineral composition and other components, presumably resulting from the manufacturing processes. Further research is needed into the mechanism and to explore optimal manufacturing processes.
In order to clarify the effect of standard rock material in the chemical analysis of rare earth element abundance with ICP-MS, we measured rare earth element abundance of KIGAM granite standard rock material (KG-1), USGS granite standard rock material (G-2), GSJ granite standard rock materials (JG-1a and JG-2). In REE analysis, we used conventional calibration standard solutions, KG-1, JG-1a, JG-2 and G-2 as standard material, respectively. Chondrite-normalized LREE patterns of low granite standard material correspond well each other in the recommended value and the estimated value regardless of a kind of standard rock. However, the HREE patterns of the estimated value based on G-2 or JG-2 and the recommended value are different from each other. Such difference may be due to the wrong recommended value or a specific geochemical properly of the standard rock material itself, The chondrite-normalized REE patterns of four standard rock materials estimated on the basis of KG-1 or JG-1 a show little deviation compared to the those of the recommended values. This suggests that KG-1 and JG-1a may be a optimum standard material for granitoids.

It has been known that quantum confinement effect of CdSe nanocrystal was observed by increasing the number of deposition cycle using successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) method. Here, we report on thermally-induced quantum confinement effect of CdSe at the given cycle number using spin-coating technology. A cation precursor solution containing $0.3\;M\;Cd(NO_3)_2{\cdot}4H_2O$ is spun onto a $TiO_2$ nanoparticulate film, which is followed by spinning an anion precursor solution containing $0.3\;M\;Na_2\;SeSO_3$ to complete one cycle. The cycle is repeated up to 10 cycles, where the spin-coated $TiO_2$ film at each cycle is heated at temperature ranging from $100^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$. The CdSe-sensitized $TiO_2$ nanostructured film is contacted with polysulfide redox electrolyte to construct photoelectrochemical solar cell. Photovoltaic performance is significantly dependent on the heat-treatment temperature. Incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) increases with increasing temperature, where the onset of the absorption increases from 600 nm for the $100^{\circ}C$- to 700 nm for the $150^{\circ}C$- and to 800 nm for the $200^{\circ}C$- and the $250^{\circ}C$-heat treatment. This is an indicative of quantum size effect. According to Tauc plot, the band gap energy decreases from 2.09 eV to 1.93 eV and to 1.76 eV as the temperature increases from $100^{\circ}C$ to $150^{\circ}C$ and to $200^{\circ}C$ (also $250^{\circ}C$), respectively. In addition, the size of CdSe increases gradually from 4.4 nm to 12.8 nm as the temperature increases from $100^{\circ}C$ to $250^{\circ}C$. From the differential thermogravimetric analysis, the increased size in CdSe by increasing the temperature at the same deposition condition is found to be attributed to the increase in energy for crystallization with $dH=240cal/^{\circ}C$. Due to the thermally induced quantum confinement effect, the conversion efficiency is substantially improved from 0.48% to 1.8% with increasing the heat-treatment temperature from $100^{\circ}C$ to $200^{\circ}C$.
The use of petroleum fuels in grain drying causes problems of high cost and management. To solve these problems, it is required to study on soLar energy as an alternative to petroleum fuels for grain drying. The purposes of this study were to find out the optimum received area and air flow rate of a flat-plate solar air collector for grain drying and to assess its effects on grain drying with a small grain bin. The results of this study are summarized as follows ; 1. The calculated optimum tilt angles of the collector in the summer and autumn drying seasons were 20 and 50 degress, respectively, in suwon area. 2. The outlet temperature of the collector was $36^\circ C$ on the daily average with the maximum of $36^\circ C$ at 12:00 o clock. Solar radiation on the collector surface was 1.04 ly( 1 langley = 1 cal/$cm^2$) per minute on the daily average and 1.30 ly per minute on the maximum at 11:00am. The thermal efficiency of the collector was 62.4 percent on the daily average, and the air flow-rate per unit receiving are was 1.03 $m^3$/min/$m^2$.4. The calculated optimum receiving area and the air flow-rate per unit cubic volume for paddy in autumn drying season was 2 $m^2$ and 2$m^3$/min , respectively. 5. not significantly difference in the collector efficiency was appeared between the rotating and fixed type of solar collector. 6. For drying of wheat with 0.6 meter of the depth in the bin, approximately 9 hours were required to reduce the moisture content from 21.6% to 13% with air follow rate of 5 $m^3$/min an initial moisture per cubic meter of wheat and with air temperature of $52^\circ C$. 7. In the drying test of rough rice with a turning operation in a grain bin approximately 21 hours were required to reduced the moisture from 21% to 14.5% with airflow rate of 2 $m^3$/min per cubic meter of rice and the air temperature of $43.5^\circ C$. 8. Over-drying at the bottom and less -drying at the top of the grain mass was resulted from the high -temperature of drying air which was obtained from the flat-plate solar collector in this test. An appropriate operation should be prepared for the uniform moisture of the grain in the bin.
